Annie accepted Audrey's refusal to hold a gun much more easily than she would have figured and felt relieved that an argument hadn't started over the ethics of it. Soon Wellwood came out and snatched the cannon away from Annie, the two seemed at odds for a moment before Wellwood began to walk away. He looked at Audrey, ''I never got the chance to thank you.'' Audrey bows her head slightly "You are welcome." As she watched him walk away she could tell that eventually him and Annie would have their fight and only one would walk away from it.

Raven appeared and invited them both in, the room's former occupant was quickly coerced into fleeing by Raven which seemed a bit on the cold side but necessary... right? Annie and Audrey sat down as Raven began talking, ''Your probably wondering about that man. His name is Maxwell, he is..was my Captain many years ago. 'To be honest for the last few years I thought he was dead.''

Audrey nodded, "Oh so that explains why you wanted me to heal him, he must have been a really close friend... -she hears Annie inappropriate comment again- or something." She sighed, Annie was most likely the crudest woman she had ever met and fit the archetype of a sailor very well, while a bit abrasive her results nonetheless were unquestionable.

Raven had gotten up and had begun rummaging through a cupboard behind the desk and was still talking, ''Escaping would be best, but who says we can't buy our freedom. Better yet trade?'' Audrey had been set on escaping although how was still an issue, but what could they trade? Annie verbally echoed her concerns. "Jackpot!" Raven got out a bottle of red wine and two glasses and held them up.

Annie turned down the offer but Audrey raised her hand "I will take one Raven, although I'm not very used to alcohol..." She smiled shyly as she took a glass. It was a deep red and she tasted it, "Ehh its a dry wine... or so my grandfather would say." As she continued sipping her wine Annie turned to her "Hey sis! What kinda swag do you want?" She asked. Then her mouth twisted into a lecherous grin. "Oh wait, I know. You wanna nab that Oshima guy right?" She cackled loudly. "Maybe dress him up in a cute outfit and have him serve you tea?"

Audrey turned bright red and choked on her wine, coughing violently while trying to sputter a reply, "N-no... I-I... *cough cough* Augh..." She continued to hack as Annie laughed with devilish glee. It was true that she had gotten to be fond of Oshima, but she felt that a warrior such as him still had much left on his path before a girl such as her would have any importance. She calmed her cough and looked down at the table still embarrassed. She was reminded of the rice cake from before which she pulled out of her purse and began eating from it. She tried to change the subject, "But what could we trade? None of us really have anything... if they had wanted money they could have demanded a ransom for me when I was kidnapped, my grandfather works on the Regal's Platform and would have paid a lot to have me back... I sure hope he is ok... my family must think I'm dead by now..." She began feeling sad now, she spoke the truth for normally when one is kidnapped a ransom is demanded but none was made. For all she knew, all those who had known her were assuming she had been lost to Deep Sky.

Annie turned down Raven's offer of the wine after a quick sniff of the bottle.
"Rot gut." The girl said, turning her nose up at the offer.

''I'm not sure what it is, But I believe I have something to trade.''
Raven replied to the girl's question.

The conversation between herself and Maxwell kept replaying over and over in her mind.
There was no reason Cularmati would want to keep Maxwell around unless he had something he wanted.
Raven then recalled that he mentioned the wrong ship earlier when they where talking.
''Could it be?'' Raven mentioned to herself as a grin crossed her face.

"I will take one Raven, although I'm not very used to alcohol..."
Raven's thoughts where interrupted by Audrey who Raven had almost forgot to ask if she wanted some wine.
The girl was probably too young but Raven did not care for such things, and if things did not work out in the morning the three of them could end up dead.

''Here you go.''
Raven poured some of the wine into a glass as she passed it to Audrey.

"Ehh its a dry wine... or so my grandfather would say."
Audrey mentioned as she took a sip.

''Your right!'' Raven agreed after taking a quick sip from the bottle.
She tossed it back into the cupboard from where it came, smashing into two other bottles.
Raven slammed the cupboard door shut before turning to sit on the bed.

The Black Pirate started to think again about that ship as Annie teased Audrey about having a crush on one of the crew members.
''Could it really be that ship?'' Raven asked herself again.
It was the only thing she could think of that was making Cularmati keep Maxwell around.
He had forgotten who he was and no longer remembered anything from his past.

''That's it!'' Raven smiled to herself.
Finally for the first time while being on the Misery she had worked out a plan of escape that was almost perfect.

"But what could we trade?'' Raven's attention was caught by Audrey who was most likely just trying to change the conversation from what Annie had been teasing her about.
''You leave that to me.'' Raven winked at the girls.

Audrey then went on, talking about what had happened to her.
Raven was not completely listening to her, as a Black Pirate her plan of escape was more important and she was thinking about how to set it into motion.

''my grandfather works on the Regal's Platform and would have paid a lot to have me back...''
As Audrey spoke these words Raven's Eye's shot open wide.

''Audrey, dear.'' Raven moved a few inches closer to the girl.
''Your grandfather works on the Platform?'' She asked with a smile.

''I think you have just completed our escape plan.'' Raven placed her arm around Audrey's shoulder as she ginned over at Annie.
''You two leave tomorrow Upto me, I'll get us out of this!''

With that Raven stood up and stretched her arms above her head, giving out a little yawn.
''Well let's call it a night, we could have a big day ahead of us come sun rise.''

The Black Pirate then took a quick look around the room, spotting nothing much of interest but the table.
It was a solid heavy one that would need more than one person to move it.
''Annie, how about a hand?'' Raven asked as she took hold of one side of the table while motioning her head at the door.
''Only way I'm going to sleep safe.''

"Huh? What platform?" Annie asked. She wasn't quite certain of what Raven and Audrey were going on about but it sure seemed that the Black Pirate was pleased by it. Or maybe she was just happy now that she'd figured out an escape plan for them all. Annie wasn't sure.

Annie wasn't thrilled either. The idea of running from their fight with the big boss pirate who owned the rotting tub they were trapped aboard didn't sit well with her. She still had unfinished business with Razar and Wellwood, namely killing them and taking those sweet guns of theirs for herself.

''You two leave tomorrow up to me, I'll get us out of this!'' Raven announced. ''Well let's call it a night, we could have a big day ahead of us come sunrise.'' She added with a yawn.

"The bigger the better I say." Annie grumbled. Whatever happened in the morning was bound to be good either way. She pictured their escape as being some sort of wild chase through the skies with guns blazing. She smiled at the thought of hauling ass away from the Misery in a speed boat with cannonballs zinging past them and the captain going ballistic on the deck. It probably wouldn't be quite as exciting as all that but Annie's imagination was like reading an action novel.

''Annie, how about a hand? Only way I'm going to sleep safe.'' Raven's request snapped her out of her daydream. She wanted to move the table Annie was sitting at in front of the door.

"Yeah, good idea." Annie agreed. She got up and helped Raven barricade the door closed. Once it was done Annie dragged her chair over to the table and sat back down. "Guess I'll keep watch for a while." She stated, placing herself at the end of the table, facing the door.

~

Annie was still awake after Raven and Audrey had made themselves comfortable. She had laid all of her guns out on the table and inspected each one, making sure they were all fully loaded and ready to fire. The revolvers lay close at hand just in case some happy-jack tried to force their way inside the room.

Actually she was hoping that some dumbass would actually try it. Annie was bored and morning seemed an eternity away. She glanced over her shoulder to see if one of the other girls was doing anything interesting. They weren't. And watching them sleep was something only a perverted stalker or sparkly vampire would do.

Annie picked up one of her new revolvers and absently rotated its cylinder. Click...click...click...click...click. The sound of the rhythmic working of its action was hypnotic. Annie's eyes started to drift shut. Her head lulled downward and suddenly snapped back up again. Annie frowned at herself for nearly nodding off.

And so she sat there, staring blankly at the door for a little while. She opened the cylinder on the revolver and looked at the bullets it contained. "Yep, still loaded." Annie thought silently to herself. She laid the weapon down and retrieved the pistol she'd picked up in the galley. It's hinge opened with a flick of her thumb. "This one too." Annie sighed inwardly.

After another few minutes of mind-numbing boredom Annie laid her head down on the table. The day's events were finally catching up with her and she suddenly felt very tired. "Screw it." Annie whispered, closing her eyes and falling asleep with the pistol still clutched in her hand.

Audrey was surprised by Raven's sudden interest in her story, ''Audrey, dear.'' Raven moved a few inches closer to her. ''Your grandfather works on the Platform?'' She asked with a smile. "Yes he does, he is an accountant actually." She replied, happy to finally be of help.

''I think you have just completed our escape plan.'' Raven placed her arm around Audrey's shoulder as she ginned over at Annie. ''You two leave tomorrow up to me, I'll get us out of this!'' Audrey wasn't so sure how Raven could be so confident but she let it go. "Well as long as one of us is sure about something..." She sighed.

With that Raven stood up and stretched her arms above her head, giving out a little yawn. ''Well let's call it a night, we could have a big day ahead of us come sun rise.'' With that the two older girls barricaded the door and Raven made a place for herself to sleep while Annie stayed up to keep watch.

Audrey made a place in a corner and used her hat as a pillow, finding an old blanket to cover herself with. She said sweetly to the others, "Goodnight you two, see you tomorrow!" She closed her eyes and began to drift off. Her dreams drifted from seeing her grandfather happy to being home again and finally to sailing the skies with Oshima at her side.

She was not awoken by Annie irritation at finally succumbing to sleep.

Raven's eyes shot open from the loud crashing sound from just outside their temporary room.
''What was that?'' She asked herself as she sat up right, placing her hat on top of her head which had most likely fallen off over night.
She reached for her sword just as another loud crashing noise came this time a little closer to the door.

Raven used her other hand and placed it against her pistol, looking down she checked just how many shots she had with her.
''Bummer!'' She told herself, it looked like most if not all gun play was to be Annie's.

''It's time!'' Raven gave the table a solid kick, tipping it over onto it's side freeing the door way.
As the table hit the floor it's own noise was covered up from loud cheering just from outside which was then followed by more crashing.
This time the sound came from a much longer distance.

Raven relaxed a little, at first she thought the captain was on his way to finish them right there where they stood.
However this did not fit in with the stories Raven had heard.

''Just what is going on out there?'' Raven raised an eyebrow as she reached for the door.

Raven swung the door open as fast and as hard as she could.
Sword in hand she was ready for who or what was on the other side.
For a split second she was blinded from the bright light.
Being stuck in the small dark room over night made the morning sun seem brighter than ever.

She did not miss the moaning sound which happened as she swung the door open.
The second her eyes adjusted she looked down to her right and saw a half knocked out pirate on the ground.
His comrades only took a moment to look at him with out care before they all turned their attention back to what was going down on the deck.

''What's going on around here?'' Raven asked confused.
''Dead man walking!'' One of the nearby pirates laughed.
''This is like what, his seventh attempt now?'' Another pirate nudged the other.

Just as Raven tried to figure out was what going on a red flash flew across the deck, smashing into three stacked barrels.
''Hey Audrey!'' Raven asked without even turning to see if the young girl was with her or not.
''Isn't that that guy, Oshi?''

Raven was right as Oshima stood up from the mess of broken wood.
He swung down his right Katana causing it to stick into the deck as he then used his free hand to wipe away the blood dripping from his head.

With the blood gone for now the Samurai grabbed his katana and with both in his hands they started to glow bright blue.
A circle of blue light appeared at his feet as it quickly rushed up and around him, lasting only for a second.

''What was that?'' Raven asked, She turned to face Audrey while pointing in Oshima's direction.
''Was that Quika?'' She was not used to Blue Magic, only Red and Green.

In the blink of an eye Oshima dashed across the deck, his kanata at the ready as he went out of sight.
''Darn it!'' Raven shouted at the nearby pirates.
The deck was too long and she could not see just who he was fighting.

''I'm going to get a better view of this!'' Raven smirked as she placed her hand on her neck, reminding herself of how the Samurai had almost claimed her own head.
''Out the way boys!'' Raven started to push by the group of pirates to get a better look at the battle.

As Raven made her way to the front of the crowd she spotted a few main members of the Misery's crew.
It looked like Marisa was sitting up top one of the crows nests while Razar had appeared just a few feet away from the door to the room they had taken over.

Not looking where she was going she bumped into a large pirate.
''Need to cut down on the food there pal.'' Raven joked as she rubbed her head from the impact.

As she looked up she noticed this man was the Viking from the food hall.
He turned to look at her before turning back to the action.
''Your next.'' He smiled as he watched the fight.

''I'm next?'' Raven did not get what he was going on about as she turned to see if Annie and Audrey was following her.
Pushing the last pirate out of the way she was at the front of the crowd.

Raven did not have any words for what she saw, it was almost as if she knew it would of been him from the moment she woke up.
Standing on deck was the ship's captain, Cularmati.

The Black Pirate stood tall in the center of the deck, his left arm by his side holding onto his trademark sword.
The skull looked so sad and the blade coming from it's mouth caused raven to feel fear.

Cularmati's right arm to raised upwards and in his hand he held Oshima by the neck.
''Your arrogance is your weakness, Samurai.'' Cularmati's eyes did not move away from Oshima for even a second.

The Samurai tried to kick his legs about but the grip Cularmati had on him seemed to take the fight right out of him.
''Once again you dare to defy me.'' Cularmati tossed Oshima into the air like a rag doll, swinging his sword down and then upwards the tip caught the end of a rope which it also sent upwards.
Cularmati caught the end of the rope in his hand, wrapping it around Oshima's leg as he fell back down.

This all happened so fast that Raven could not keep up and only saw Cularmati catch Oshima by the leg and he held him upside down.
''So once again I'll let you decide.'' Cularmati tossed Oshima across the deck in one swing of his arm.

The samurai was flung so far across the deck that he flew right over the side of the ship and plummeted down out of sight.

Raven removed her hat and held it against her chest as she looked over at Audrey.
As much as she wanted to see Oshima pay for attacking her she also new he was a good man to Audrey, unlike the rest of the crew on this ship.

''Er, shouldn't someone tie this?''
A pirate's question caught Raven's attention as a small pirate stood near the edge of the ship, holding onto the end of a rope which was quickly being pulled over the side of the ship.
Before Raven could react two more pirates rushed over to him and helped secure the rope which as soon as they tied it seemed to stop.

''He never learns.'' Raven jumped as the Viking had come up behind them, looking in the direction of where Oshima had gone over.
''Not the first time he has had to make his way back onto the ship.''

Raven did not have anything to say, It was clear to her now that Oshima was against Cularmati yet the fact he kept him on his own ship made her feel uneasy.
The Viking backed off away from the girls, ''Time for round two.'' He said as he backed into a group of pirates who where all looking in their direction.

Raven felt a cold shadow come over her, she knew that right now standing behind the three of them was the Misery's Captain.
She had never felt fear like this before and took a moment to bring herself to turn and face him.

As her eyes encountered him there was no mistake who he was.
He matched the stories that she had been told from other Black Pirates, and all seemed true to some extent.

''You survived the Samurai.'' Cularmati's voice was cold and sounded like death to Raven's ears.
Cularmati's gaze seemed like that of someone who had been dead or possessed.
''You withstood Razar's sight.'' His words where no doubt ones for Annie.
''As for you, well your just lucky to be alive.'' Cularmati was clearly on about Audrey.

The Black Pirate took a hold of his sword and pointed it at Annie and Raven.
''Tell me, can you save this cursed soul?''

''Hold on there big boy.'' Raven waved both her hands in front of herself making a stop motion.
Quickly realizing that calling Cularmati boy was about to get her killed.
''I mean, Cularmati isn't it.''

The Black Pirate lowered his blade ever so slightly.
''Look, I know what your after.'' Raven took a few steps backwards away from the Captain.
''And believe me, it's not us.'' She waved her and between herself and Annie.

Cularmati raised his head as if to tell the woman to go on with what she had to say.
''You of all people must know that I have a connection with someone on this ship.''
Raven started to sound smug as she started to mover plan into action.

''Ah, wellwood?'' Cularmati lowered his sword.
''And why would I care for a crew member of a failed Black Pirate?''

''Crew member?''Raven placed her hands against her waist in an angry fashion.
''I was no crew member, I was his first mate!'' Her eyes opened wide as she just realized that in her moment of anger she might of just blown their plan apart.

''Well then, that changes everything.'' Cularmati used his free and to take out his pistol as he pointed it into the crowd of pirates watching on his left.
The pirates quickly moved away from the pistols' aim, creating a small circle around WellWood who was now standing in line with Cularmai's weapon.

There was a loud thud from behind the girls as Marisa jumped down.
She tossed something over their heads which Cularmati caught in his hand.

''See you real soon.'' Marisa grinned at Audrey as she climbed back up the mast.

''You know what this is?'' Cularmati asked, keeping his pistol locked on Wellwood.

''Maxwell's Diary, what of it?'' Raven knew of the book as her captain would always keep it close to himself.

''It would seem that this book lacks the essence of being complete.'' Cularmati said as he placed the book on his belt.
''If this was a story then it would be without end.''

''Ah!'' Raven smiled, the plan she had started to form when Wellwood mentioned the wrong ship last night seemed to be on track once more.
''Maxwell can't remember the end, explains why you keep him around.''

''Yet you do.'' Cularmati knew that Raven knew the missing pages from the diary from the way she was acting.
''The ship Wellwood saw all those years ago is of great importance to me.'' Cularmati clicked his pistol , ready to fire at Wellwood's head.
''Tell me, or he goes back to being a ghost in your memory once more.''

Raven looked over at Annie and Audrey, she grinned at them as this was now her kind of battle.
''Do it.'' Raven snapped as she smirked at Cularmati.
''Kill him and I will never tell.''

''Your a wise girl.'' Cularmati moved his pistol away from Wellwood and aimed it right at Raven.
''Maybe killing you will bring back his memory?''

''Now hold on, I have a suggestion.'' Raven put her hands up to show she was not messing around.
''I'll take one for your long boats, and locate the ship for you. Then I will mark out a map and bring it back to you.''
Raven then pointed over at Wellwood,
''The map to the ship for Wellwood's freedom.''

''No deal.'' Cularmati replied.
''You already know of the ship's location.''
Cularmati put his pistol away as he motioned for two of the pirates watching to come over to him.

''You will take a long boat with these two gentlemen. Direct us to the ship and then you and Wellwood can go free.''
Cularmati said as the two pirates grinned at one another, probably over the fact they would be alone with the girls.

Raven looked over at Annie and Audrey, he only said that she and Wellwood would go free.
''No dice.'' Raven snapped back,
''The three of us take a long boat with one of your men. you do not follow us or I would rather die than help you.''

''How I would like to full fill that wish.'' Cularmati replied,
''Yet that ship and it's captain are worth so much more than your lives.''
He motioned his hand for one of the pirates to start loading one of the long boats.
''You will go with just one of my men and I will not follow. Go to that ship and arrange a meeting between it's captain and me.''

Cularmati took out a small map from his belt and tossed it over to raven.
''He will do battle with me here.'' Cularmati said as Raven looked at the map to see a small island was marked out.''

''What if the ledgends are wrong?'' Raven raised an eyebrow.

''Bring me his hammer, as a sign of his death.''
Cularmati turned his back on the girls.
''You have three days, if your not on that island by the night of the third day...''
He turned his head slightly to look at the girls.
''I will personally hunt you down.''

''Hey, someone was to die today! What a disappointment.''
One of the pirates spoke out to another as the crowed started to thin out with the battle not taking place.

There was the sound of a shot fired as the pirate fell over with blood gushing from his head.
''Happy now?'' Cularmati muttered as he put his pistol away again.
''Besides, this deal only takes place when they leave my ship...Alive.''

With that Cularmati seemed to disappear up to the other decks as the crew started to ready their weapons.
''Oh come on!?'' Raven was annoyed.
''If he want's to met that guy why order his crew to kill us?''

Raven pulled out her sword as she looked over at the long boat.
Sitting there was the crew member ready to take them down.
''Hold on...'' Raven looked around.

Just as she thought, she could no longer spot any of the Misery's main crew or Cularmati, just the crew members who probably did not know any better.
''Never mind girls, we will be leaving soon.'' Raven motioned her hand at Audrey to run for the longboat as she then turned to grin at Annie.
''Let's make this quick.''

Annie awoke with a snort as her ears perked up. There was a ruckus coming from outside. She could hear the sound of men yelling and the thump & shuffle of movement from the deck.

Rising from her seat Annie stepped over to the door and drew one of her new revolvers. Cocking its hammer back she pressed her ear to the wall. She listened to the sounds coming from outside.

''It's time!'' Raven crowed a little too cheerfully for so early in the morning. She stepped over and kicked the table aside. ''Just what is going on out there?'' She asked as she opened the door.

"Dunno. Sounds like somebody's getting their ass kicked up there." Annie shrugged, decocking her revolver and returning it to her belt. "But only one way to find out for sure." She added as she followed Raven out into the hallway.

Raven stopped to ask one of the pirates what was happening but Annie wanted to see for herself. She stepped out onto the open deck to take a look. What she saw was indeed someone in the process of receiving an ass-whipping.

"Hey sis, better get up here!" Annie called back to Audrey. "Your boyfriend is gonna need some serious TLC after this is over!"

Suddenly Annie felt the hair on the back of her neck begin to prick up. "Whoa. Felt like somebody just walked over my grave." She gasped. A look over her shoulder revealed the source of the chilling sensation. Standing next to the door to the room they'd spent the night in was the rifleman, Razar.

Not wanting to appear fearful in front of her new rival Annie backtracked and came to stand right next to him. "So what did your buddy do to deserve the captain's boot in his ass?" She asked as she placed a cigar between her teeth and lit it.

"Oshima brought this upon himself. He was a fool to challenge our captain." The Nasrean sniper returned evenly.

Annie did a double take. "Whoa, you mean he picked a fight with the big man?" She asked, confused and slightly impressed with Oshima's gutsy actions.

"Yes. His impetuous actions will be his downfall." Razar answered with a sidelong glance at Annie. "Oshima's death will be but a precursor to your own fate."

Annie took a long pull from her cigar and exhaled the smoke in Razar's face. "Better hope your boss can take care of his business then." She said with a cocky grin. "Cuz when I'm done with him, you're next on my hit list."

"I look forward to our next encounter." Razar replied coolly.

With the threat hanging between them Annie and Razar lapsed into a tense silence as the fight between Cularmati and Oshima raged on.

~

''Time for round two.'' The big Viking called out. It seemed that the time for them to face the Misery's captain had arrived.

"Later days bub." She snorted to Razar before pushing herself away from the wall and began elbowing her way to the forefront of the crowd. As usual before a big fight Annie was feeling confident and eager to drop a boatload of pain on somebody.

But at the same time she was feeling a slight twinge of remorse for what had just happened to Oshima. "Don't worry sis. I'll avenge your sweetheart." Annie promised Audrey as she brushed past her. "I'll kill 'em for ya. Yeah, I'll kill 'em good." She shot a venomous glance towards Cularmati.

In the center of the deck the pirates backed away from their captain, forming a wide circle around him. And before Annie could learn that Oshima was still alive and kicking she was ushered forward by the mob and shoved out into the open. Raven was there as well and so was Cularmati.

"Well, let's get this show on the road." Annie snorted. She dropped the smoldering stub of her cigar to the deck and stamped it out. Annie's smoking habit wasn't just a vice. No, the nicotine in the tobacco helped to calm her nerves and steady her hands. For many gunmen the act of smoking before a battle was a ritual that also improved their accuracy.

Cularmati also seemed to enjoy a pre-fight ritual of his own. From where she was standing it sounded like he and Raven were involved in a serious round of trash-talking. Annie rolled her eyes. "Will you just stab him already." She muttered, her voice too quiet to have been heard by either of them.

Annie tensed as Cularmati began waving his gun around. It was clearly an act of intimidation and not a direct threat, at least not yet. Stepping up behind Raven Annie shouldered her own weapon and started mean-mugging. Until the two pirates quit yapping it was all she could think of to do. Cularmati next turned his pistol on Wellwood for some reason and Annie relaxed a little. She couldn't really blame the Misery's captain for wanting to shoot him. Wellwood was kind of a jerk.

After a while Annie realized that the two of them were actually parlaying with one another. They kept saying stuff about "dice" and "deals" and then finally it seemed that the two pirates had come to some sort of understanding. "Fight's off. Great." Annie sighed as Cularmati and his flunkies turned to leave the deck.

''Hey, someone was to die today! What a disappointment.'' One of the pirates mirrored her sentiments. Without missing a beat Cularmati drew his pistol and gunned the man down.

Annie couldn't help but snicker at his demise. "Man, talk about asking for it." She covered her mouth with the back of her hand to hide her sadistic mirth.

And then the pirates who had been surrounding them began to close in on Annie and Raven, brandishing their weapons like they meant business? "Huh, so we're going to throw down after all?" Annie asked with undisguised pleasure. "Not the main event I had in mind but it'll do!"

"Let's make this quick." Raven crowed as she too prepared for battle.

Annie gave her a salute and then leveled her gun at the oncoming pirates. "You got it boss lady!"

~

The fight was on. Annie chose her machine gun was the weapon best suited to their current opposition and let loose a hail of gunfire while waving the weapon's barrel back and forth. The bullets sprayed a trio of pirates and dropped them bleeding to the ship's deck. Those coming behind them wisely chose to spread out to avoid the same fate.

"Now we're cooking with gas!" Annie cried. Two of the pirates approached her from either side, trying to flank her. Their weapons were raised to strike her down. The moment she turned to fire upon one of them she'd be wide open for the other one to attack.

In one smooth motion Annie dropped her machine gun, allowing it to slide beneath her arm on its shoulder strap. At the same time she drew her revolvers and cocked their hammers. "Two for the price of one suckers! Ah hahahahaaa!" She laughed as she spread her arms wide and pulled the triggers. To either side of her a pirate fell.

Twirling the pistols with the tips of her fingers Annie slid them back into her belt and brought her machine gun back out. Ahead of her a group of five pirates were hesitating to come at her. They stood in a trembling knot in the middle of the deck.

"Hey, you guys havin' a circle-jerk or what?" Annie screamed as she dashed straight at them, firing her gun as she went. "Best get your asses in gear before I put a spankin' on 'em!" One of the men went down but the others scattered before her.

Dropping a heavy boot atop the man she'd shot (but only wounded) Annie took a look a moment to admire all of the chaos she and Raven had caused on the deck.

"Girls, it just don't get no better than this." Annie sighed contentedly. She'd been promised a fight this morning and so far she hadn't been disappointed.

Audrey awoke with a start and looked about the room in a drowsy confusion. "Huh? Wha...? What's going on?" Outside the sounds of fighting could be heard and Raven quickly got up and headed for the door. ''It's time!'' Raven said and Audrey came back to the sober reality of the situation. "Oh no..." She stood and put on her glasses and hat and made her way to the door with the two others and Raven flung it open blinding them all with the morning sun.

Audrey rubbed her eyes and blinked weakly, "I have never been a morning person..."

''What's going on around here?'' Raven asked confused.
''Dead man walking!'' One of the nearby pirates laughed.
''This is like what, his seventh attempt now?'' Another pirate nudged the other.

Audrey looked around curiously as a red flash flew across the deck, smashing into three stacked barrels.
''Hey Audrey!'' Raven asked ''Isn't that that guy, Oshi?''

Audrey's eyes opened as sure enough, Oshima stood up from the barrels bleeding from his head. "Oshima?!" Audrey cried out in concern but the samurai was too focused to pay attention.

Oshima got the blood off of himself and grabbed his katana and with both in his hands they started to glow bright blue.
A circle of blue light appeared at his feet as it quickly rushed up and around him, lasting only for a second.

''What was that?'' Raven asked, She turned to face Audrey while pointing in Oshima's direction.
''Was that Quika?'' Audrey nodded her head as she watched the fight wide-eyed. "Yes... that was Quika..."

In the blink of an eye Oshima dashed across the deck, his katana at the ready as he went out of sight.
''Darn it!'' Raven shouted at the nearby pirates.
The deck was too long and Raven began pushing her way through the crowd with the others following behind. They finally got to a point where they could see and Audrey noticed Razar and Marisa also watching.

Audrey quickly looked at Cularmati who stood on the deck with his blade in his left hand. Audrey however could only look as Oshima hung helplessly in his grasp. Audrey cried out to him in fear, "Oshima!"

''Your arrogance is your weakness, Samurai.'' Cularmati's eyes did not move away from Oshima for even a second.

Oshima tried to fight back but Cularmati's grasp was too strong.

Cularmati caught Oshima by the leg and spoke to him in his chilling voice.
''So once again I'll let you decide.'' Cularmati tossed Oshima across the deck in one swing of his arm. The samurai was flung so far across the deck that he flew right over the side of the ship and plummeted down out of sight. Audrey's eyes went wide and she screamed "OSHIMA NO!!" Her scream could be heard by everyone and she fell to her knees and began sobbing.

"Don't worry sis. I'll avenge your sweetheart." Annie promised Audrey as she brushed past her. "I'll kill 'em for ya. Yeah, I'll kill 'em good." Audrey looked at her with teary eyes, "Th-thank you..."

''Er, shouldn't someone tie this?''

Audrey looked up as three pirates began tying down a rope which was being pulled off the side of the ship. It dawned on her that Oshima had grabbed onto it and was pulling himself back on board. She sighed and began wiping her eyes, he wasn't dead after all.

''Time for round two.'' Said a pirate who had been talking to Raven.

Just then a chill of death came over the three girls as Cularmati approached them. An unnatural man not unlike a wraith.

''You survived the Samurai.'' Cularmati said coldly as he looked at Raven.
''You withstood Razar's sight.'' He said to Annie.
''As for you, well your just lucky to be alive.'' Cularmati was no doubt talking to Audrey although she could not bring herself to look at him.

The Black Pirate took a hold of his sword and pointed it at Annie and Raven.
''Tell me, can you save this cursed soul?''

Audrey was so confused at this point that she almost burst into tears again. All this death and mystery must be what a pirate's life was all about and to be perfectly honest, Audrey had had enough. Raven went back and forth with Cularmati talking about what he wanted and all of that, just then Cularmati drew his pistol and pointed it at Wellwood who stood in the crowd.

There was a loud thud from behind the girls as Marisa jumped down.
She tossed something over their heads which Cularmati caught in his hand.

''See you real soon.'' Marisa grinned at Audrey as she climbed back up the mast. The creepy girl made Audrey shudder.

''You know what this is?'' Cularmati asked, keeping his pistol locked on Wellwood.

''Maxwell's Diary, what of it?'' Raven said as she seemed to recognize it.

''It would seem that this book lacks the essence of being complete.'' Cularmati said as he placed the book on his belt.
''If this was a story then it would be without end.''

The two of them continued to go back and forth trying to make deals as Annie was obviously loosing interest in the whole matter. Audrey figured she was just waiting to have someone to shoot at. Finally a deal was made and the main crew departed but not before a foolish pirate got shot for complaining that no one had died.

Then a bunch of nobody pirates grouped around them with the intent for combat. "Dang it..." Audrey ducked as Annie went nuts with her gun and Raven took out pirates with her sword. Audrey just wanted it to be over and done with.

Raven took a look over her shoulder at the small long boat, it was ready to go and now only waiting for the three of them to join the crew man who had set it up.
She put her sword away as a group of pirates around her fell to their feet, not killing them but slicing at their legs just before hand.
The Black Pirate knew there was no point in killing the low life as Annie had made sure to take out most of them with her huge gun.

''Time to go!'' Raven called over to the machine gun crazed girl as she took Audrey's arm and dragged her to the boat.
Without hesitation or knowing if the young girl had ever jumped into a boat that was lowering into the skies before Raven pushed Audrey over the side of the ship and into the long boat.
''What do we have here!'' The Pirate waiting for the girls asked as he looked up to see Audrey quickly followed by Raven's boot which landed right in his face.
''Don't touch her!'' Raven yelled at the man,
''Just get going!''

''Darn it all!'' one of the Misery's crew shouted out as he looked over the side of the Ship, wanting to get a few more hits in before the escaped.
The crew where not happy with the fact that the girls got away and they themselves had lost men in the fight.

~

''We'll that worked out better than I thought.'' Raven sat back and rested herself against the back of the long boat.
It was not the biggest of boats and seemed to of been built for five or six people.
The wood looked old and worn yet still strong so there was no worry of the boat falling apart.

''You two ok?'' Raven asked Annie and Audrey as she looked back at the Misery as it disappeared into the distance.

''Muc.'' The pirate spoke up as he guided the boat.
Raven tilted her hat and raised an eyebrow at the man.
He looked like your typical black pirate member. Just as tall as Raven but his cloths torn and looked like he had been rolling around in mud all his life.
The Smell Raven next picked up matched his looks.

''Say what?'' She asked as she looked him up and down with a look of disgust on her face.

''The name is Muc, I'm to take you to....well you know.''
He turned and looked at Raven with a look of concern.

''You think I'm going there right now?'' Raven tilted her hat back over her face as if she didn't care.

''You know you only have three days, he will come for you....trust me.'' The Black Pirate turned his attention back to guiding the boat, even if he had no idea if he was going in the right direction.

''Yeah Yeah, we'll get there.'' Raven shook her hand at the man.
''But I have no intention of taking an innocent into such a dangerous place.''
She jerked her thumb at Audrey.

''Now If I remember right we better head north east for the next hour or so.''
Raven then closed her eyes and placed her hands behind her head.
To the pirate it was clear she was not going to answer any more questions for a while.

~

''enter.'' Cularmati stood from his chair as he closed a book with a pencil inside to save his page.

''He made it sir, he came back.'' The Pirate muttered as if saying the wrong thing would end his life.

Without a word Cularmati turned and walked out onto the deck.
A hand was coming up from the side of the ship shortly followed by another.
Oshima had climbed his way back onto the ship once again, yet before his eyes could set on the deck he found himself being lifted by the neck.

''Once more you return Samurai.'' Cularmati looked him in the eyes.
''Welcome back to your Misery.'' He swung his arm and sent Oshima across the deck, then without looking he went back to his quarters.

''The Samurai is persistent, yet he is not as weak as he once was.'' Cularmati said, knowing he was not alone.
The Black Pirate opened his book and took the pencil, marking another spot on his map.
''Who would of thought that a young pirate like her would know of it's location.'' Cularmati put a cross on Ixa'taka.
The map had many crosses as if he had been looking for something and was marking off where he had been looking.
Not many places where left un marked now.

''Your worried that I should not of let them go?'' Cularmati paused as he looked up into the darkness of his room.
The only light was a candle on his desk as even in the daylight he kept himself in the darkness that he believes he now belongs.

''They have three days, then she will be all yours.'' Cularmati's mouth almost looked like something of a smile as the cloaked man made his way out of the room.
his red goggles caught the light of the candle, clearly excited about his next encounter with the young Annie.

~

''We turn back now!'' Raven was woken up by Muc's sudden shouting.
She did not mean to drop off but was so bored that she did.

''What's your problem?'' She stood up and pushed Muc to one side to see what he was pointing at.
For a moment Raven could not spot anything, but just then something in the distance caught her eye as it's metal surface caught the morning's light.

''You know what that is?'' Muc yelled,
''That's the Platform! No Black Pirate would be stupid enough to try and take it. Then thing is like an island, and island full of sailors and workers who take no nonsense from pirates.''

Raven smiled at this as they slowly approached the ship.
She started to make out the many giant crane arms that looked like they could even pick ships out of the skies.
Still getting closer she could see Regal Cargo ships coming and going from many directions as well as one old Valuan patrol ship now in bright purple colours sailing around the area.

''No, I think we will stay on course, this is just fine.'' Raven smirked at the pirate.

''Your mad, you are all mad!'' He started to yell.

''Annie, if you could?'' Raven asked as she took charge of the boat and sailed it towards the platform.
''You say anything or try to do anything then I think Annie might have something to say about it.''

Raven waited for the patrol boat to move out of sight before approaching the ship.
It was not like the patrol ship was needed but she wanted to get to the platform with having to get past a ship with cannons.

''Well here we are girls!'' Raven was the first to set foot out of the long boat, offering Audrey her hand to help her out as she gave the young girl a genuine smile.
''I help you and you help me.'' She whispered.

The four of them stood there for a moment on the edge of the platform.
The noise of moving machines was loud and people where hard at work.
A few people had spotted the four of them but did not seem to think anything of it.

''Well, here goes nothing.'' Raven said as she took hold of Muc's arm.
Taking him by surprise she reached for the pistol on his belt and un clicked it, dropping it to the deck.

''Pirate! Black Pirate!'' Raven yelled as loud as she could as she kicked Muc in the back of his legs, causing him to fall over.

''You said we where just dropping the girl off!?'' Muc said in surprise, not expecting to of been crossed by someone who was going to have to face Cularmati once more.
''You will not escape him!'' Muc said, thinking Raven was just planning on running from her deal.

It only took a few seconds but as soon as the words Black Pirate where shouted a large group of Regal co crew men had surrounded them all at the edge of the ship.
''Not your normal Regal co men hey?'' Raven joked as she looked at the men.
Unlike the ones that sailed the cargo ships these men where much larger. It finally made sense to Raven as the platform was where the cargo was moved around and sorted out.

Out of the large group only two of them had guns, both of which where aimed at Raven and Annie.
Muc was of no threat and was already being tied up by one of the larger men.

''What do we have here?'' A voice came from behind the group.
A man who looked to be in charge of this section of the ship made his way to the front.
''Four Black Pirates Sir!'' A man replied.

''Well no, one did warn us, It's three Black Pirates and a young girl.'' The second man pointed to Audrey.

''Any time now Audrey.'' Raven muttered over to the young girl.
Raven could of kicked Muc out into the skies but then turning up on the platform without another pirate to put the blame on would of been risky.

"Gosh, there sure wasn't much to them." Annie sighed. She shouldered her machine gun and glanced around the deck at the sorry state of the Misery's crew. "I guess this bunch of jabronis finally learned just who they shouldn't @#$& with."

With most of the pirates left on deck either dead, wounded or cowering in fear the three girls were free to go on their merry way. With a snort of disgust Annie followed Raven onto the lifeboat. As they boarded she heard a lot of grumbling coming from the crew. It seemed to her that now that they were leaving the Misery the cowardly lot had found some measure of courage and were spoiling for a rematch.

Annie's hand fell upon the railing as she was about to lower herself into the lifeboat. Her fingers closed around a loose belaying pin and a sudden, sadistic thought crept to the forefront of her mind. Pulling the wooden pin free she tossed it onto the deck, right in the midst of the crew, with a loud shout of; "Fire in the hole!" The effects were instantaneous and most amusing to her. Fearing that she'd lobbed another grenade at them the mob of crewmen broke apart like smoke before the wind, yelling in fear and racing for cover.

"Nyah hahahahahaaaa! You dumbasses!" Annie cackled gleefully to herself as she stepped down into the lifeboat and made herself comfortable for their little side-trip.

~

It wasn't long into their voyage that Raven got into a wee disagreement with their chaperon, a foul-smelling lout who introduced himself as Muc. Raven wanted to make a pit-stop before heading to....wherever it was they were going. Annie wasn't sure really. But Muc wanted to head there straightaway with no hold-ups. And since he was piloting the lifeboat he felt that it was his decision to make. Naturally Raven disagreed with him on this point too.

''Annie, if you could?'' Raven's words caught Annie's attention. Beneath the layer of grime that caked his body Muc turned as white as a ghost. Both of them understood what the Black Pirate had in mind.

Annie smiled like a crylhound at the pirate as Raven took over piloting the lifeboat. The fingers of Annie's left hand motioned for Muc to come closer while her right hand patted the vacant seat next to her. "Hey buddy, you just come and sit down next to your dear ol' auntie." She said in a creepy voice that contradicted the comforting words.

Muc hesitated for a moment and then scuttled forward to do as she said. As he sat down Annie's arm draped across his shoulder. "Now then, you sit still and be a good boy. "You wouldn't want me....to.....oh Moons! Get the hell away from me!" Annie suddenly gasped, shoving the pirate to the far side of the boat. "Dude, you smell like you shampooed your hair with huskra crap!"

Muc moved to the far side of the raft until he was pressed against its rail. But Annie was still holding her nose. "No, further!" She winced. Muc moved up a whole seat this time. "Further dammit!" Annie glared at him through watering eyes. This time the smelly pirate was banished all the way to the bow of the boat. "Further!" Annie demanded. Muc peered over the rail and shook his head. If Annie had her way he'd be taking a dive straight into Deep Sky.

"Argh fine! But stay downwind of me you got it?" Annie relented. Muc nodded thankfully, especially since the wind was blowing in his favor.

With the pirate properly cowed and Raven at the helm, their journey continued.

~

"Wow, that is one big mother-lovin' ship right there." Annie remarked in wide-eyed wonder as their lifeboat approached the Platform. This would be her first visit to the floating cargo dock owned by the Regal Family of Valua.

Whether the pirate Muc had been there before or not wasn't certain. But either way he sure didn't want to go aboard now. "Quit fidgetin' you maggot!" Annie growled, kicking the cowardly pirate in the ass to quiet his protests.

In short order Raven pulled them up alongside the Platform's top deck and they all disembarked. And just like clockwork a bunch of armed security guards the likes of which Annie referred to as "The Man" came bustling over to hassle them for some reason. Maybe they noticed how Raven was bullying their pirate chaperon or maybe they just saw all their weapons and assumed the girls were up to no good. Either way the three of them soon found themselves surrounded.

"Whoa, slow your roll there Lunch Box." Annie addressed the guard closest to her. "I got somethin' for ya."

Annie began rummaging through her pockets and the security guards tensed. Some gripped their weapons, thinking that she was about to pull a gun on them. But when her hand surfaced from one of her pockets Annie presented them with a small leather wallet.

One of the guards, probably their ring-leader, accepted it and flipped it open. Between its tattered creases was a shiny metal badge and an identification card. He read what was written upon it and then glanced up at Annie.

"So you're a bounty hunter then?" The guard nodded, relaxing a little at the realization that they were dealing with a fellow law-enforcer. He gestured towards the pirate with a disdainful flick of his nose. "And this scum is your bounty? Miss....Oakshot?"

Suddenly the guards all tensed up again. Some of the guards muttered amongst themselves and she could hear a jumble of words coming from their ranks:

".....the one they call Machine Gun Annie...." Whispered one voice nervously.

".....a lunatic. She's the one who shot up..." Came another voice.

".....and killed every one of 'em." A third voice muttered.

"And just what is your business here today Miss Oakshot?" The guard leader asked with growing concern. Apparently Annie's reputation as a source of violence and mayhem had proceeded her.

Annie furrowed her brow for a moment. Come to think of it she wasn't entirely certain why Raven had brought them here. "Uh....I'm here to....um...." Annie scrambled for an answer. Her forehead broke out in a sheen of sweat from the exertion. Finally, after a few awkward moments, her addled mind forwarded the only reply that seemed to make sense.

"I'm here to kick ass and take names!" Annie snorted with sudden pride. And then all of a sudden there seemed to be a whole lot of guns being pointed in her direction.

"Oh hell." Annie laughed nervously, raising her hands in surrender. "Maybe I should rephrase that."

Several of the Misery's crew lay dead after Annie's spree and just as Audrey peeked up her head to look Raven grabbed her by the arm and hauled her off to the boat that they would be using to leave. "Ahhh!" She was tossed into the boat and landed face-first with her rump in the air. ''What do we have here!'' The Pirate waiting for the girls asked as he looked up to see Audrey quickly followed by Raven's boot which landed right in his face.
''Don't touch her!'' Raven yelled at the man, ''Just get going!''

~

After adjusting herself in the boat Audrey sat down and tried to calm her quickly beating heart. ''You two ok?'' Raven asked Annie and Audrey as she looked back at the Misery as it disappeared into the distance.

"I am fine Raven, all things considered. I just want to be as far from here as possible." Right afterward their pirate... guide... made it known that his name was Muc, a rather accurate name as he smelled of something worse than garbage which Annie noted when Raven wished to take control of the boat.

Apparently Raven was going someplace else as she mentioned having no intentions to take Audrey wherever she was going.

~

After some time the Platform came into view. Audrey stood in the boat and began talking loudly, "There is the Platform! My grandfather is there!" Seeing the Platform was like seeing Heaven after being locked in Purgatory.

Upon disembarking Raven caused a disturbance and yelled that Muc was a pirate, which he was but then again so were Raven and Annie. They were quickly surrounded by a bunch of Regal employees who held guns at the two girl pirates. Annie took out a wallet and handed it to the head guard who looked it over.

"So you're a bounty hunter then?" The guard nodded and gestured towards the pirate with a disdainful flick of his nose. "And this scum is your bounty? Miss....Oakshot?"

"And just what is your business here today Miss Oakshot?" The guard leader asked.

"Uh....I'm here to....um...." Annie scrambled for an answer and finally found one which made Audrey face-palm.

"I'm here to kick ass and take names!"

With that all the guns were pointed at her and Raven looked at Audrey ''Any time now Audrey.'' It was obvious that it was going to be up to her to do something that WOULDN'T put them in jail.

Audrey stepped forward and spoke, "I am Audrey Relica, granddaughter of Lord Archibald Gilvern. I was captured and these two women rescued me, please send word to my grandfather!" Her grandfather was the chief accountant on the Platform so everyone had to know him... or at least she hoped.

The guards looked dumbstruck, "Lady Audrey has returned?" Just then the chief guard turned and pointed at one of the other guards, "You! Go notify Lord Gilvern immediately!" The guard ran off quickly and Audrey looked at Annie and Raven with a smile, "Being an heiress has its perks I suppose.."

~

In one of the rooms in the Platform worked a man close to his elder years. Wearing a black robe emblazoned with the Regal R, Archibald Gilvern looked through several papers about Regal's funds. Being the Chief Accountant wasn't easy but he took his job with pride. A commotion outside distracted him and he looked up, several men were talking about pirates on board the Platform, this didn't really concern Archibald unless it was a full on attack so he went back to his accounting.

Just then an out of breath guard came into the room and bowed hastily, "M-my apologies L-Lord Gilvern but we have a situation! Lady Audrey has returned with some pirates!" Archibald dropped his pen and quickly turned, "WHAT?! Is this true? Take me down there at once!" The guard nodded and the two made their way down.

~

As Audrey and the rest waited below an uproar was heard from a door on one of the Platform's walls. A guard and an older gentleman that Audrey recognized as her grandfather came out and made straight for her. "Audrey! Is it really you?"

"Grandfather!" Audrey reached out her arms to him but was still concerned as several of the guards still had guns pointed at them.

"It is you! Lower your weapons at once." The guards looked at each other and lowered the guns. Both Audrey and Archibald embraced and began crying tears of joy "I was afraid that we would never see you again... are you alright? Did these pirates hurt you?" Archibald gave a hard look at Raven, Annie and Muc.

Audrey smiled and shook her head. "The guy is a bad pirate so you can lock him up, but the two ladies are my friends, they saved me from the Misery." Upon mentioning the 'mythical' ship both Archibald and the guards murmured in concerned tones. "My Audrey, that ship isn't supposed to be real... you must have gotten sick from your absence." He looked to the guards and nodded at Muc, "Take that one away." He then looked at Raven and Annie. "You two please come with me."

Archibald went inside while Audrey held his hand and a couple guards made sure the two girls followed. A floor up was what appeared to be a meeting room. Archibald sat down next to Audrey and looked at Raven and Annie seriously after they sat down. Audrey tried to speak up, "I'm not sick Grandfath-" But was cut off by Archibald. "You two have brought back my Audrey to me and for that I am eternally grateful... but I would like for you two to explain yourselves first..."
