Annie lowered her pistol when the mysterious figure in the shadows began speaking to Raven. She lowered it but did not uncock the hammer, keeping it at the ready in case he turned out to be hostile. The man confessed to having a hand in Audrey's rescue but to Annie it sounded more like he did it as a favor to Oshima than any real desire to help the young healer. Suddenly the cloaked man brandished a weapon and took aim at them. "Move!" Raven shouted a warning as she leapt to the side, hauling Audrey out of harm's way in the process. Annie retaliated immediately. "Wrong target bub!" She yelled as her pistol came up and fired. "I'm the one you gotta worry about!" Even though it was dark and difficult for her to make out her target Annie was close enough that she could get a rough estimate of where to aim. Her shot struck right where she wanted it to but it didn't have the effect she'd been hoping for. Instead of a grunt of pain from the cloaked man all Annie heard was a 'clang', as if her bullet had struck something metallic. "What the....is he wearing armor or something?" Annie wondered to herself. And then the cloaked stranger's weapon pointed in her direction and he returned fire. Annie leapt backwards just in time to avoid the cannonball that came rocketing out of the darkness. The impact sent her tumbling to the deck though. "AND WHAT THE HELL IS HE PACKING?" She gasped, landing hard on her backside. The cloaked stranger identified himself as Wellwood, the Misery's gunner, and stated flatly that he wanted Raven's sword. Annie didn't think anything of such a request, not after taking the unconscious pirate's pistol as she had. She figured that's just how it was with pirates; the stronger taking what they wanted from the weaker. But this Wellwood guy had just picked the wrong ladies to mug. Annie scrambled backwards away from the hole he'd just blown in the deck and regained her feet. With a flick of her wrist she broke open the action on the pistol and shook the spent cartridge out onto the deck. Her other hand fished around in her pocket, fumbling with the draw string of the bag of bullets, finally retrieving a few of them. "Sword don't belong to you." Annie growled as she reloaded her pistol. "How about a bullet instead?" Annie snapped her arm up, closing the pistol's breach. She placed two more bullets between her teeth and took aim at Wellwood. ~ "Hey Annie! You need to get yourself one of those!" Raven laughed from several feet away. Annie heard her but didn't comprehend her words. She had a loaded pistol in her hands and a target to fire it at, yet she did not pull the trigger. Annie was standing right there in the middle of the deck along with Raven and Audrey but her mind had checked out of reality and was off in its own world right now. It wasn't shock that had caused Annie's detachment from the waking world. Nor had her stupor been brought on by any sort of injury. No, she was suffering from something just as bad. Only a moment earlier Wellwood had revealed his weapon-of-choice to her and she'd gotten a good look at it. He'd fired it right at her and she'd felt its power. Now Annie had come down with a malady that sometimes afflicted gun-hands like her, causing them to lose their self-confidence and plunging them into a state of overwhelming depression. In other words Annie was suffering from a case of Gun Envy. "First that stupid sniper with his cool, cool rifle." Annie sniffled, a tear rolling down her cheek. "Now this yahoo is shooting a cannon one-handed. A moons damned CANNON!" Annie glanced down at the pistol she was holding and felt so inadequate. Even her beloved machinegun paled in comparison to Wellwood's firepower. She wanted to toss her weapons away and get blown to bits in that moment. After all, being killed by a weapon like that wasn't a bad way to go was it? ~ Annie was still drowning in the pits of sorrow when Wellwood's flunkies arrived. The sound of their booted feet drumming across the deck helped to snap her out of her fragile emotional state and lit a fire under her ass. Annie's eyes blazed with anger as she whirled around to face them. "C'mon Bessie, we got work to do!" Annie spoke to someone. It might have been an imaginary friend or one of the voices in her head but most likely Bessie was the name of her machinegun. Contrary to that belief it was her pistol that she raised instead of it. One of the pirate's mirrored her gesture and took a shot at her. Annie felt the bullet whiz past her head so close that it scored a bloody line across her cheek. Annie's bullet found its mark though, burying itself in the pirate's skull and dropping him to the deck like a sack of potatoes. Even as he fell three more men surged past his corpse to assail her. Annie knew in an instant that she wouldn't have enough time to reload before someone plugged her. Instead she shrugged her machinegun off of her shoulder, sliding the pistol into her waistband at the same time. The machinegun fell into her now-empty hand and she leveled it against the oncoming pirates. Annie relished the look of fear that blossomed on their faces when they saw that they were charging right into her line of fire. And fire she did. Annie squeezed the trigger and a line of bullets flew straight into the midst of the pirates. All three fell, one groaning and clutching his stomach, a second lying motionless and the third attempting to pull himself hand-over-hand across the deck. Annie hefted the machinegun and sighed. It was completely out of ammunition now. She slung it back across her shoulder and quickly reloaded the pistol. No sooner had she completed the task then another gunshot rang out, then another and another. Annie instinctively ran for cover. Reaching the middle of the deck she pressed her back against the mainmast and peeked around the corner. Another group of pirates, these being wiser than the last ones, had taken cover behind a stack of barrels near the edge of the deck before the shooting started. Annie swore under her breath. "Dug in like Ixa'takan ticks and me with just a handgun, damn it all!" She felt the gun-envy beginning to rise within her once again and she fought to keep it down. Still, a cannon would sure come in handy right now. With that thought in mind Annie remembered that she did have a few grenades left. Her hand rummaged through her pocket and came back clutching an Incendiary. She smiled a malevolent smile as she pulled the pin and stepped out from behind the mast. "Mery Christmas mother @#$&ers!" She cackled, lobbing the grenade across the deck. She dove back behind the mast as a hale of gunfire tore into it, sending splinters flying towards the spot where she'd been standing only a second earlier. Annie plugged her ears, still smiling, as she waited for the tell-tale explosion that would herald her latest bloodbath. It sounded a few seconds later, accompanied by screams of pain and a red glow that indicated that a section of the deck was now on fire. "Ah hahahahaaaa! How do you like them apples you fruity-ass monkey spankers?" Annie crowed triumphantly, heckling her dying victims and grabbing her crotch in a display of poor sportsmanship. Fully satisfied with her contribution to the melee Annie then turned to see how Raven and Audrey were faring. |

Audrey turned from the burning ship, tears in the corners of her eyes, her crests still faintly glowing. "Out late." The man said plainly, as Annie held a pistol in his direction. the man explained that he had only helped set Audrey free because he had wanted information from Oshima. Audrey said meekly, "So you dropped the key..." Suddenly the man displayed a hand-cannon and pointed it right at her and Raven. "Move!" Raven grabbed Audrey and hit the deck as the cannon's shot flew right over them and detonated the deck behind them. Annie fired her pistol right at the man who revealed himself to be Wellwood, the Misery's gunner. However the shot proved rather ineffective as Wellwood only grunted and responded with a shot of his own. The shot missed Annie as she cried "AND WHAT THE HELL IS HE PACKING?" and went looking for cover. Wellwood looked at Audrey with eyes that made her feel a cold fear, "I want that sword. If any of you get in my way... I will not hesitate to kill you too.'' Raven merely unsheathed the sword in question replying, ''If you want a date your going about it all the wrong way.'' The comedic value was lost to Audrey as she scrambled to hide behind a set of crates. Being unarmed aside from a near empty purse and solitary Blue Moon Stone, Audrey felt oddly inadequate. Scrambling around in a dress while the other two girls had swords and guns made Audrey feel like the useless 'damsel in distress' type which might have been nice if some kind knight were there to save her but this was obviously not that case. She now cursed herself for not taking fencing lessons from her grandfather. Wellwood ran out of ammo and called in some men as he proceeded to reload. While his gun packed an impressive punch, it was most likely a prototype that only held two rounds in its current form. Annie, who had been standing with a uncharacteristic frown on her face, came back to some form of reality and unloaded what was left of her machine gun rounds into the group of pirates, sealing the fate of a few. Soon she lobbed an incendiary grenade at a few hiding behind the mast, setting more of the deck ablaze. In the meantime a few of the pirates closed in on Raven and Audrey. Raven was good with a blade Audrey assumed bu she felt this wasn't going to be enough. Picking up her courage, she grabbed her Blue Moon Stone and stood up from behind the crates. "Raven I won't be a burden to you, Moons give me strength, Wevli!" Her crests glowed as a small storm of wind and water burst in the group of charging pirates, her hope was that while the spell might not kill any of them, it would at least knock them down or into each other so that Raven could dispatch them with her sword. With her first and only attack out of the way Audrey quickly ducked back down behind the creates and returned to her duty as healer, a job that felt much more comfortable to have. |

Raven shook her head as she stood up. Being sent across the deck of a ship by cannon fire was new to her but she did not waste and time getting back in on the action. She noticed that the man had called for back up, but these had mostly been taken care of by Annie who blow them up with her grenades. Raven knew Annie could take care of herself and so she looked for where Audrey had got to. Dispatching a few of the crew on the way she came across Audrey who was ducked down behind a few creates. Just then a group of men approached Raven, attempting to take down the Black Pirate. She was still a little off thanks to the explosion but she knew she could take them. "Raven I won't be a burden to you, Moons give me strength, Wevli!" A voice came from behind, it was Audrey. The spell knocked the men down which gave Raven time to take them out. No sooner as the deck was clear of the men Annie moved back over to Raven and Audrey. ''Looks like we win.'' Raven mocked the shadowed man as she placed her hands on her hips. Then from Wellwood's direction came the sound of a weapon being triggered. ''I had kind of hoped you had forgot you still had that thing.'' Raven joked, trying to cover up the fact she had forgot he was armed. There was a blast as another cannon ball shot out from the darkness towards the girls. There was no time for them to react and all Raven could do was cover her face with her blade as the ball made contact. Raven found herself slowly opening her eyes. There was indeed the sound of the impact but she found herself completely un harmed. She looked to her sides to see two small holes either side of them. Rolling across the deck where two semi circles which rolled to a stop. ''What the?'' Raven started to ask as she raised her head to look up. Standing in front of the girls with his back to them was Oshima. ''I told you not to harm her!'' He called out to Wellwood. He had his sword at the ready which had a little steam coming from the blade where he had sliced the small cannon ball in half. ''Do you forget they are our prisoners?'' Wellwood replied as he ready his weapon again. ''To protect them is to turn on our Captain!'' He pointed the weapon at Oshima's head. ''This one is his, you can not harm her.'' Oshima shoved his thumb in Raven's direction, ''And so is the little one.'' He then pointed his thumb over at Annie. ''Ah, I see.'' Wellwood smirked, ''So what your saying is I can have that one!'' He quickly moved his weapon and pointed it at Audrey. This angered Oshima as he seemed to be the only one who knew Audrey had nothing to do with pirates and did not deserve to be on such a ship. He dashed at Wellwood, taking out his second sword, both blades catching the light of the moon as he prepared to attack. Before the samurai could land a hit he stopped in his tracks. A storm was starting but it was not the storm that stopped him. With each strike of lightning Oshima could hear a voice. Wellwood also lowered his weapon as he too thought he could hear something. ''Is it me or do you two hear that?'' Raven asked Annie and Audrey. ''Two little boys.....'' A soft voice whispered from the darkness of night, ''Had two little toys....'' ''Oh bugger'' Oshima said as he lowered his swords. ''Run run as fast as you can, Oshima is free but Wellwood is dammed!'' Oshima quickly moved into the shadows, ''You control your own fate.'' Were the only words he spoke to the girls as he moved from the scene. He knew he could not help any more and that the three of them would have to find their own way of the ship. There was another flash of lightning as Raven looked on at Wellwood, trying to see just who he was. Her attention however focused on the figure behind him. ''Cularmati doesn't like holes in his ship, now she must make you learn.'' Before the man could turn around he found himself being tossed to one side by a mighty punch. ''Crap, it's Marisa.'' Raven stated the obvious. Before they could run Marisa jumped over and landed at their feet. ''Oh you are so lucky, Cularmati want's to play with you.'' The girl made a crying motion with her metal arm before noticing Audrey, ''Hey we can still play, Marisa would like that.'' Her grin could of scared death himself. Marisa then hoped back over to Wellwood and helped him up before tossing him over to the other side of the deck. As he rolled he dropped his weapon which rolled across the deck into the girls view. It turned out to be some sort of hand cannon, custom built and almost resembled the same style as Razar's own rifle. Raven placed her hand on Annie's shoulder, ''Not yet.'' She said, She knew Annie was mad for weapons but it was far to close to where Marisa was 'playing'. As the lighting flashed Raven could make out the man on the deck but not as well as she could make out Marisa who was on top of him. Blood was sprayed all over as she reminded him of his place. ''Sorry, I'm sorry.'' He might of well been talking to a bucket, Marisa was not going to listen. ''Is your eye all better, Let her see.'' Marisa asked as she shoved one of her fingers into Wellwood's right eye. The storm started t o die down and as it did Marisa stood over the half dead man. She turned her head to look at the three girls, all that could be seen was her grin as she climbed up the rigging out of sight. ''The sooner we leave the better, am I right?'' Raven nervously said to Annie and Audrey. ''Let's find a room for the night and see what the morning brings, other than death.'' Raven turned to look for the way to the crew cabins, she was sure there would be one or two free and the crew on this ship seemed to come and go if they stepped out of line. As Raven made her way across the deck she could not help but look at her sword, ''I wonder what he was on about?'' She asked out loud. ''He could not of owned this sword, it has always been mine.'' She looked at Audrey and Annie. She was not sure if they where interested or if they just wanted to get their minds of death but they seemed to be listening. ''A girl never forget's her first real weapon, hehe.'' She smiled at the two as they walked. Raven seemed to smile down at her sword, it was full of memories that made her happy. ''It was given to me by a very important man, my Captain.'' Raven put the sword away as she looked over at Wellwood, still on the deck almost motion less. ''The only way it could of belonged to that jerk....''Raven started yet again to mock the guy yet she stopped. Her face had the look of a sudden realization. ''Maxwell?'' She asked herself. Without warning she ran as fast as she could to the man. She could not stop in time as she slid to a stop on her knees at his body. There was blood all around him yet he was still alive. ''Maxwell?'' Raven asked the man, it was still dark but she had to know if it was him. Wellwood slowly raised his hand before dropping it to his said, he was unconscious from the loss of blood. ''Annie! Audrey!'' Raven yelled out to the two girls. She started to try and pick the man up but would need the help of the others. |

Annie rejoined the other girls and together they confronted Wellwood. ''Looks like we win.'' Raven taunted him but the Misery's gunner obviously didn't think of himself as having lost just yet. He took another shot at them but his cannonball was neatly sliced in half by Oshima who suddenly materialized in front of them. "Whoa, he's fast." Annie whispered. She briefly wondered how Raven had survived a duel with him. The thought was short-lived though. Her attention soon fixated on the argument transpiring between the swordsman and Wellwood. Oshima was protecting them but it was hardly an act of kindness. He was only making certain they survived until morning when the captain of the ship would challenge them himself. Well, not all of them. Wellwood pointed out that Audrey was fair game and pointed his weapon in her direction. "I told you once stumpy." Annie growled, stepping in front of Audrey and brandishing her pistol. "I'm the one you gotta worry about." Oshima didn't bother with any bravado or argue any further with the gunner. He merely raised his swords and leapt to the attack. Somewhere in the distance thunder rolled and the wind began to pick up. The Misery was heading into a bank of storm clouds, creating an eerie backdrop for the impending duel. And then both of the combatants froze in their tracks. A flash of lightning briefly illuminated the deck, allowing Annie to get a brief look at the cloaked gunner for the first time. She was surprised to note the look of dread on his face in that one moment. Oshima too seemed nervous and that more than anything caused Annie to shudder. Anyone who could intimidate the hot-headed samurai was someone she wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley. ''Is it me or do you two hear that?'' Raven asked. Annie strained her ears to listen for whatever she had heard. A faint voice could barely be heard over the rising wind. "Sounds like someone singin'." Annie answered. "I've heard that voice before." She continued, scratching her head in thought. "Oh, I remember! It was....oh, hell....that crazy bitch with the claw!" Oshima wisely chose to clear the deck just as Marisa appeared upon it. "Hmph, I ain't scared of any daft broad with a fancy hand!" Annie mocked the retreating samurai. "If you're itchin' for a fight I'll be your moonberry!" She called out, challenging Marisa. The pistol was gripped in her right hand and she drew her survival knife with her left. Striking a fighting stance Annie prepared to lock horns with the only girl she'd ever met who was even more bat-shit insane as she was. But it seemed that Wellwood was Marisa's only target this time. She tossed the gunner across the deck like a rag doll and then began mauling him with her metal claws. Annie felt Raven place a hand on her shoulder but hadn't even noticed Wellwood's discarded weapon. She was too interested in watching the gunner getting his ass handed to him. "Ah hahahahaaa! Oh man, look at her go!" Annie laughed at Wellwood's predicament. "Give 'em hell girl!" She egged Marisa on. To her mind the arrogant gunman was getting a well-deserved beating and that fact made it even more enjoyable to watch. After a short but bloody altercation Marisa left Wellwood lying in a pool of his own gore and clambered up into the rigging. Annie turned her attention back to her companions and noted that Raven and Audrey hadn't been quite as entertained as her by the scuffle. ''The sooner we leave the better, am I right?'' Raven asked in a nervous voice. ''Let's find a room for the night and see what the morning brings, other than death.'' "Yeah, it's late and I need my beauty sleep if I'm to be all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed for the massacre in the morning." Annie agreed now that the show was over. Unlike Raven she was confident that they could defeat Cularmati in battle. He was scary, sure, and probably really strong but that just meant that it would take a little longer to hand him his ass. But then Raven doubled back and ran over to check on Wellwood. "Hey! I thought you wanted to find a room!" Annie called after her. She wondered what Raven was up to and figured she was either making sure the gunner was dead or checking his pockets for loot. Or both. Annie had been a little confused before but she became positively mystified when Raven began fretting over Wellwood's fallen body. "Huh? Did I miss something? Why is the boss lady gettin' all misty-eyed over a guy that was just tryin' to kill her?" She asked Audrey. Raven summoned the two of them over, indicating that she wanted to carry Wellwood with her and needed their help in lifting him. With a shrug Annie trotted over to assist but paused for a moment when something lying on the deck caught her eye. It was Wellwood's hand cannon. "Um, you can carry him." Annie told the other girls as she reached down to scoop up the weapon, holding it up to admire it. "I think I'd...er, HE wouldn't want to leave this lying out in the rain." Now armed with Wellwood's cannon Annie stood ready to escort the other girls and their injured burden belowdeck. |

After the battle Audrey stood up to rejoin Raven and Annie however Wellwood fired his cannon one more time and she closed her eyes assuming the worst. An explosive death was not to happen though as to everyone's surprise Oshima stepped in and sliced the cannonball clean in half which rolled about on the deck. "M-Mr. Oshima...?" Audrey felt happy that the samurai had aided them, even if it was only to preserve them until morning... well really just Raven and Annie as Wellwood soon pointed out. Annie moved in front of Audrey "I told you once stumpy, I'm the one you gotta worry about." While appreciated, Audrey was beginning to feel like a bit of a burden as she seemed to always be in need of defending... of course being a bit of a girly girl and a passive healer kind forced that role onto her. Oshima charged at Wellwood, his blades gleaming in the moonlight, when a storm started and both of the men stopped. Some words could be heard on the wind as both men paled. "Oh no... its that girl..." Audrey's insides began to turn as she thought about the insane girl Marisa who sure enough appeared as Oshima wisely left the scene. Marisa attacked Wellwood with an unholy glee and began tearing at him with her claw. Annie seemed thrilled by this however Audrey really wasn't cut out for this kind of violence and turned away feeling sick. Once Marisa had her fun she scampered out of sight leaving Wellwood in a bloody heap. ''The sooner we leave the better, am I right?'' Raven asked in a nervous voice. ''Let's find a room for the night and see what the morning brings, other than death.'' "Yeah... I feel ill... I wish this nightmare would end..." Audrey began to turn to leave when Raven suddenly ran over to the nearly dead Wellwood and began fussing over him. Annie turned to Audrey, "Huh? Did I miss something? Why is the boss lady gettin' all misty-eyed over a guy that was just tryin' to kill her?" to which she replied, "To be honest... things haven't made sense since I got on this forsaken ship..." Raven called the two over asking for help however Annie backed out and instead coveted Wellwood's, or was it Maxwells?, cannon. Audrey walked over to the severely injured man, "I will help you Raven... lets get him below deck and I will do what I can to stabilize him.. however I won't be able to fix his eye..." With some effort she helped Raven move him. |

Raven took a hold of the man's arms as she pulled him up, leaning most of his weight against herself. Audrey took his other arm as she came over to help, a look of confusion on her face and why not, after all they had just been in a battle with the pirate. ''however I won't be able to fix his eye..." Audrey offered to help out by using her healing magic any way she could. Raven did her best to smile back at her, the mask she wore covered her eye's real emotion, ''He's never been good with that eye.'' She tried to joke. Annie had made sure to pick up Wellwood's weapon, the custom built portable cannon. ''Over there!'' Raven pointed out a door with light coming from the cracks underneath. She and Audrey moved slowly across the deck, dragging the pirate as his motionless legs scrapped across the wooden floor. ''Why?'' He tried to ask as blood still dripped from his eye socket. ''Shut it!'' Raven replied, trying to stay strong. ''Your in no condition to talk.'' They soon came to the door, Raven gave it a quick kick but it would not budge open. ''Annie, if you could!'' Raven asked the girl, her words came out rushed as she was far too worried about the man. ''What the...!?'' A voice came from inside the cabin as the group entered the room. ''What's going on here?'' A lone Black Pirate was sitting at a table in the room polishing up a set of pistols. Raven flung Wellwood onto the bed, ''Help him please!'' She turned to Audrey as she removed her mask, keeping her face covered with her arm as she wiped away the tears. The Black Pirate put down his cleaning cloth and stood up, ''Get outt'a me room!'' He yelled, confused as to why these women would just barge in like this. Raven placed her mask back on as she spun around to face the pirate. ''Shut it!'' She yelled as she grabbed him around the neck. ''Just shut up!'' She flung him out of the room causing him to land face first on the deck out side. As Raven slammed the door shut there came a muttering noise from the bed. Wellwood was coming round thanks to Audrey's attempts. ''You done what you can?'' Raven asked as she pushed the young girl to one side so she could look into Wellwood's face. ''Maxwell?'' Raven asked the man, ''Is it really you?'' ''Max...well?'' He responded dazed and confused. ''Do I know you?'' Raven fell to her knees, as she placed her head in her arms. She started to cry as it seemed the man had no memory of his past with her. A awkward moment passed as Raven felt another piece of her heart breaking away. Wellwood turned his head to look at the black Pirate, the woman was a stranger to him and so were the other two in the room. That was when he noticed one of the girl's was holding his cannon. ''I think..'' He muttered, ''I think I used to use a real cannon.'' Raven raised her head, it seemed not all was lot. ''A ship!?'' She asked him. Wellwood closed his eyes for a moment as he thought back, ''Was that my ship?'' he asked himself out loud, thinking back to the ship he was found on. ''Tumble..'' ''No.'' Raven stood back up at his side, ''A white ship!'' Wellwood turned his head to look up at the female Black Pirate. ''A white ship?'' He repeated, He lowered his head, the look in his eyes was clear that something was coming back to him. ''With black sails...'' Wellwood's eyes locked onto the green sword that rested on Raven's belt. ''The White Raven...'' He said with a look of sudden realization. Raven reached for her pistol in a flash as she spun around to face Annie and Audrey, her arm stretched out as she pointed the weapon at Annie's head, being the bigger danger of the two. ''You heard nothing! Now get out!'' It was easy to see Raven did not want anyone else to know about her ship. She forced the two, along with Wellwood's cannon which was still in Annie's possession out of the room. Raven waved her finger at the two with a smile, ''No eaves dropping now you hear!'' She closed the door behind the two. It was not the friendliest way of asking someone to leave the room but she was a Black Pirate after all and knew at least Annie would of understood that. ~ ''I know of this ship..'' Wellwood sat himself up in the bed. ''Your friends...they call you raven?'' The man looked down at his wooden leg, ''Your the captain...of the White Raven...'' ''I sure am!'' Raven smiled back at him as she placed her hands on her hips. ''And you made me captain.'' ~ ''Out late are we?'' a strange old voice came from behind Annie and Audrey only moments after they had been kicked out of the room. There in the darkness of night stood an old man, wrapped up in red and purple cloths. Silk, made in Nasr and Valua. ''Not all memories are happy ones, now are they?'' His words seemed to of been directed at Annie. ''And sometimes we just want to forget.'' His head turned ever so slightly at Audrey. ''It would be best for us all if he doesn't remember that secret he has.'' The old man looked up at the night sky, his face clear in the light. His eye's covered by a cloth yet was so tight it was easy to tell he had no eyes at all. ''Not that any of us know what that secret is.'' The old man then gave a little bow to indicate that he was on his way. ''Good night to you, Annie, Audrey.'' Vision then went on his way, moving across the deck as if he was not using his legs. ~ ''I don't remember you... but I remember the ship and that sword.'' Wellwood was now stood up and feeling much better. ''However something is telling me that you know me more than I do myself.'' Wellwood took of his hat and stared at the symbol on it. ''Your going after that ship right?'' Raven and Wellwood had already had a long talk as small parts of Maxwell's memory came back. ''The ship is important to me...'' Raven replied, ''As it was a gift from you.'' He last words muttered to herself. ''If you find this ship..'' Wellwood turned to face Raven, ''I wish to see it. Something about it could help me to remember.'' ''Then come with us!'' Raven begged him. ''I have swore loyalty to the Misery and her captain.'' Wellwood was firm, he would not turn on Cularmati after all he had done for him. ''Then I will find the white Raven and use it to save you from this hell!'' Raven yelled back in his face. Wellwood just closed his eyes and smiled. ''I swear it!'' Raven told him, ''I will come back for you and you will remember my name! Remona Raven!'' Wellwood's eyes shot open, ''Remona...'' ~ ''Hey hey, what do we have here?'' A voice asked out on the ships' deck. Two little girls, well isn't it my lucky night. Annie and Audrey were approached by the Black Pirate. He was just a run of the mill crew man, a little on the short side and so thin you would think he would snap in half if he was to fall down. ''Now what to use?'' He asked himself as he reached behind himself. He took out a short sword and tossed it to the ground, ''not that, too small.'' He took out a pistol with he also tossed to the ground, ''nope, no ammo.'' ''Ah this will do!'' He took out a rusty old cutlass, the blade stained with blood. ''You see I just happened to of seen Vision not that long ago.'' The pirate approached the two girls. ''He told me that a decision I make tonight would make me very lucky while another one would cause me great misfortune.'' The pirate waved the sword around in the air as he grinned. ''It would be a misfortune to pass up two girls like yourselves.'' |

Annie followed behind Raven and Audrey while they dragged the bloodied Wellwood across the Misery's deck. She was still puzzled by the Black Pirate's sudden compassion for the man who had tried to kill her but Annie wasn't much for thinking so she just went along with whatever Raven was doing. It wasn't long before they'd located a cabin in which to rest. Raven tried to force it open but burdened as she was with Wellwood's dead weight she was unsuccessful. "Annie, if you could?" She asked. "Sure thing boss lady." Annie smiled. She leveled Wellwood's cannon at the door and briefly considered blowing it off of its hinges but quickly reconsidered. Sure it would have been fun but Annie reminded herself that she needed to conserve ammunition. Instead she stepped back, squared her shoulders and delivered a stiff kick to the center of the door. It flew open, banging against the wall and startling the room's occupant in the process. ''What the...!?' What's going on here?'' The pirate stuttered in surprise as the girls bore Wellwood into the room and laid him down on the pirate's bed. His protests were promptly ignored and Audrey began treating Wellwood's injuries. "Get outta me room!" The pirate demanded as he rose from the table. In response Raven seized him by the scruff of his neck and ejected him from the room, slamming the door in his face. The Black Pirate returned to check on Wellwood and see how Audrey's treatment was progressing. Annie didn't give a rat's ass about him though. She was more concerned with the pistols the pirate had been cleaning when they entered. "Ooh, shiny." Annie practically drooled as she lifted one of them up to inspect. But only one. She wasn't ready to let go of Wellwood's cannon just yet. The pistol was a Valuan model with a revolving cylinder. Its frame had been crafted from polished iron with a handle carved from Ixa'takan hardwood. Annie flicked the cylinder opened and was delighted to see that the pistol was fully loaded. This happy coincidence was marred slightly when she realized the cartridges inside were of a different caliber than the ones she carried. There would be no ammo swapping. "Guess I can't complain." Annie chuckled. She tucked the pistol into her belt and then claimed its twin. It too was fully loaded. Twelve more shots were added to her arsenal. Twelve more death sentences were written, needing only the signature of whatever poor bastard got in her way. It was at that moment that Annie was introduced to yet another gun. This time it was Raven's being pointed at her. "Whoa, whoa, whoa! What the fu~" Annie protested as the pirate ushered her and Audrey out of the room at gunpoint. She was so caught off guard that she didn't even think about retaliating. Instead Annie allowed herself to be herded back out into the hall. ''No eavesdropping now you hear?'' Came Raven's playful voice from behind the door. Annie snickered as the confusion surrounding the Black Pirate and their peg-legged assailant suddenly evaporated. "I hear ya. Gettin' in a little hanky-panky before the big fight tomorrow?" Annie asked conspiratorially. "Don't worry. I won't peek!" And so Annie settled down on the floor outside of the room. She had plenty to amuse herself with whilst Raven was getting her freak on. ~ ''Out late are we?'' A husky voice asked from a spot where no one had been only a moment ago. Annie started in surprise, half rising and pointing one of her new revolvers at the speaker. Annie lowered it a moment later when she recognized the old man from earlier in the day. He looked harmless enough. Freaky as hell, but harmless. The old man started saying something about memories and secrets but Annie wasn't paying him any attention. She was too busy trying to look up his robe. To her it seemed like the old man didn't have any feet and she was curious about that. Soon the old man went on his way and bid them both a good night. "Hey Audrey." Annie said without taking her eyes off of the old man's back while he walked away. "How did he know our names?" ~ ''Hey hey, what do we have here? Two little girls, well isn't it my lucky night." Yet another member of the Misery's crew decided to pay Annie and Audrey a visit. This one Annie had been expected. The smell of booze preceded him all the way down the hallway. "Little? Oh, I see...you're one of them pedo...peda...you likes 'em young eh?" Annie snorted at the bad joke the drunken pirate represented. "You sick freak, get the hell out of here before I put my foot up your ass." The pirate didn't heed her warning. Instead he started dropping an impressive arsenal to the deck. Annie gathered that he was trying to choose which one he would try to kill them both with. He finally settled on a cutlass menaced them with it. ''You see I just happened to of seen Vision not that long ago.'' The pirate explained. ''He told me that a decision I make tonight would make me very lucky while another one would cause me great misfortune.'' Annie stood up to meet the pirate's challenge. "Well ain't that a kick in the pants?" She snorted. ''It would be a misfortune to pass up two girls like yourselves.'' The pirate smiled drunkenly at the two girls. He swung his cutlass around to emphasize his intent to cause them harm. "Hoo boy, did you ever make the wrong call." Annie hooted, cracking her knuckles in anticipation of the savage beating she was just about to unleash on the pirate. Despite packing more heat than the Temple of Pyrnn Annie didn't think this drunken fool was even worth a bullet. The pirate tottered on his feet for a second, glancing at Annie in confusion. "Huh? I ain't wrong." He ogled the two girls in a lewd manner. "If this is wrong I don't wanna be right." "Oh for the love of..." Annie finally lost her temper. She dropped Wellwood's cannon and aimed a vicious left hook at the pirate's jaw. He stumbled aside, crashing into the wall. There was a look of disbelief in his eyes when he finally righted himself. It was still glimmering in his eyes when Annie followed up her last punch with a stiff right to the bridge of his nose. The pirate stumbled backwards but he refused to fall, at least until Annie leapt upon him and bore him to the ground. She pounded her fists against his head in a staccato of violence, swearing at him with every punch. Finally realizing that he'd made a grave error the pirate began to whine and babble. He dropped his cutlass and raised his arms to protect his face. But Annie continued to rain punches down upon him. "Argh, ah....ow...ow...OW!" The pirate's cries of pain punctuated every blow. "I'm...ow...I'm sorry! Please stop hitting me!" He pleaded for mercy. Surprisingly Annie obeyed and ceased her assault on his facial features. "Ooh, sorry. I lost it again didn't I?" She apologized. " Busted you up pretty good too? Here, lemme take a look." The pirate relaxed a little and lowered his hands from in front of his face. "Yeah, ow. My face feels like..." "Peek-A-Boo!" Annie laughed and resumed the beating. The pirate screamed in pain as she landed a clean punch across his lip, drawing blood and knocking a few teeth loose. Annie continued her merciless attack, laughing maniacally the whole time, until her rage was finally spent. Afterwards she stood up and dusted the hem of her dress off. The pirate looked up fearfully at her. Annie was surprised he was still conscious after the drubbing she'd given him. "A'ight punk! Gimme whatcha got!" Annie growled. She held her hand down to the battered pirate. Thinking she was trying to help him up he grasped it. Annie squeezed his fingers hard enough to make the pirate squeal. He withdrew his hand, gazing up at her in fear and confusion. "Wha...what?" The pirate whimpered. Annie glared down at him. "Gimme somethin' or it's round two!" "You...you're mugging me now?" The pirate gasped. "S'right. Now cough it up bub!" Annie yelled. "I ain't got all night!" The pirate squirmed as he fished around in his pockets. "I'm...broke." He whined when his hands came out empty. Annie scowled down at him and raised her foot for a stomp. The pirate whimpered and hid his face behind his arms. But the blow never fell. The pirate peeked up at her hopefully. "Looks like you've got some good stuff here." Annie was inspecting the pirate's arsenal. "Guess I'll take these." She reached down towards the pirate, causing him to flinch. In addition to all the weapons he was carrying the pirate was also wearing a long chain of bullets across his torso. At least he was until Annie's hand gripped them and yanked them free. "Where's the gun that fit these?" Annie asked in a harsh voice. The pirate looked up and the bullets and shrugged. "Dunno. I've never used those before." "Then why the bloody blue blazes do you have them?" Annie shrieked. She could almost feel the loneliness emanating from the bullets. They surely yearned for the iron embrace of the gun they were meant to be fired from. "They...er, I thought they made me look cool!" The pirate stammered his reply and braced himself for another beating. Annie raised her arm to smite him but it wavered in the air for a moment before finally falling. Her finger extended to point towards the far end of the hall. "Get." Annie spoke the single word. The pirate was too traumatized to move so Annie began repeating herself as if she were shooing away a stray huskra. "Get, get get, get, get!" She spat. The pirate scrambled to his feet. "GET, GET, GET, GET, GET!" Annie continued, a bit louder this time. She gave the pirate a swift kick in the ass to get him moving quicker. With a cry of mortal terror the pirate retreated back the way he'd come as quickly as his legs would carry him. With a snort of disgust Annie returned to her seat on the floor of the hall. She examined the chain of bullets and recognized them as ammunition for a heavy machine gun that would have been mounted on a piece of Valuan hardware. The corner of her mouth rose in a half smile. They would fit her own machine gun too. "Don't worry. I'll give you a good home." Annie purred, rubbing the bullets against her cheek. Drawing her knife Annie began plucking the bullets loose one by one. It would take a few minutes but once the task was done she'd be able to completely reload her weapon and still have bullets to spare. "So." Annie spoke to Audrey, kicking up a little friendly banter whilst they waited for Raven to finish her tryst and rejoin them. "You ever shoot one of these before?" She asked, holding up one of the revolvers for Audrey to inspect. |

After pulling Wellwood into the room, Audrey sat next to him and held her hands over him. "I will do what I can to save him." A pirate inhabited the room and replied angrily to their intrusion but Raven picked him up by his collar and tossed him out a door. As Annie picked up the gun that the pirate dropped, Audrey's work continued. "Moons, restore him... Sacrulen!" Her hand glowed as Wellwood's wounds began to close and his breathing began to calm. His eye however could not be regrown just as she thought. Just as Audrey was finishing what she could, Raven rudely pushed her aside. Raven got close to him, "Maxwell? Is it really you?" Audrey huffed and walked over to Annie, "How rude... I wasn't completely finished yet." Annie was inspecting her new pistol when Wellwood... or Maxwell... whoever the hell this man was mentioned a ship and Raven spun on the spot and pointed a gun at the both of them. Audrey raised her hands in sudden fear and confusion, "Wha...?" Her and Annie were herded out of the room as Raven shut the door, telling them not to eavesdrop. "I hear ya. Gettin' in a little hanky-panky before the big fight tomorrow?" Annie asked conspiratorially. "Don't worry. I won't peek!" Audrey looked at Annie with a slightly disgusted face. "I highly doubt a woman of Raven's looks would be interested in.... that... with someone as homely as Wellwood... right?" The thought made her shiver. "Out late are we?" Said an old voice as a man clothed in rich silks stood nearby. He spoke of memories as the moonlight revealed that he was blind. None of his words made any immediate sense but Audrey could tell that they were about the man that Raven was with. ''Good night to you, Annie, Audrey.'' Said the man as he seemed to actually hover away. Audrey felt totally worn out mentally at this point, using her magic coupled with all the totally mythical and impossible things she had seen on this damned ship was threatening to shatter her grip on sanity. "How did he know our names?" Annie asked. "I don't know Annie... I haven't known anything since I was captured by this damn ship that shouldn't even exist... I wish I was home with my family... or with my Grandfather, I was supposed to see him but all this happened." Just then another crew member approached. ''Hey hey, what do we have here? Two little girls, well isn't it my lucky night." Annie was quick to retort, "Little? Oh, I see...you're one of them pedo...peda...you likes 'em young eh?" Annie snorted at the bad joke the drunken pirate represented. "You sick freak, get the hell out of here before I put my foot up your ass." The pirate dropped a bunch of weapons at his feet and picked a rusty cutlass, making it obvious that he intended them harm due to hearing some sort of fortune from Vision. Audrey sighed, "You mean Pedophile, but that isn't quite accurate as we are both overage for at..." Annie obviously wasn't listening, nor did Audrey expect her to care. Annie faced off with the pirate and proceed to open an overpowering can of whoop-ass. Audrey just sat down next to the wall and waited it out, all this fighting was enough for her so she was content with waiting until one side proved to be the victor. After a severe beating and mugging, Annie was unsurprisingly that victor. She collected some bullets which had to be of some use as she smiled, and booted the beaten pirate who quickly fled. Annie walked back over and sat close by. "So." Annie spoke to Audrey, kicking up a little friendly banter whilst they waited for Raven to finish her tryst and rejoin them. "You ever shoot one of these before?" She asked, holding up one of the revolvers for Audrey to inspect. Audrey carefully picked up the gun with a hand that had obviously never held one. "Shoot? No I have never even held a gun before." She held the gun in her hand and looked at it. "It may mean nothing to you but... I have never taken a life. When I used that Wevli spell, that was the first time I ever raised a hand to cause people harm." She sighed. "Being a pirate... you wish to be known by how much you take and how many people you defeat right? Well for me... I want to be known by how many I help." |

The cabin door slowly creaked open as Wellwood stepped out from the room. A look of pleasant confusion upon his face as he felt a part of his past was ever so close to being found again. A the door slowly shut behind him he looked down as if to collect his thoughts. In doing so he spotted the two girls from before who seemed to be having some friendly chatter amongst themselves. ''I'll be taking that!'' Wellwood took them by surprise as he reached out for Annie, swiping the cannon from her hands. He locked eye contact with the girl for a moment, his Black Pirate instinct telling him to blow the two into the sky with his cannon, however these girls where friends of Raven and if she knew him then he would trust her for now. The Black Pirate hobbled away from the two, his wooden leg banging against the deck as he did. Wellwood only managed five or so steppes before stopping, turning his head so that his good eye could see the two. ''I never got the chance to thank you.'' His eye focused on Audrey. With that he stared to walk away again. As soon as the man was out of sight the door to the cabin opened again. Raven stepped out from the room, one hand pushed against the door while her other hand was against her face. It appeared for a second that she was wiping away some tears, not that she would let Annie or Audrey see this. ''Well I guess we have a room for the night.'' The Black Pirate broke out a smile as she stepped to one side to let the two girl enter. ''Hey!'' An angry voice yelled out at the three. ''That's my room!'' The pirate from before had only just come around after being knocked out from Raven tossing him out of the room before hand. He started to rush over to them before stopping in his tracks. His face dropped as he pointed his finger at Annie, ''And there my pistols!'' Raven grinned as she pulled out her pistol, she was feeling much better now that after all this time her Captain was still alive. He may not remember who he was but that could be solved in time and she knew this. ''Is this one of yours too darling?'' Raven mocked as she pointed the pistol at the pirate. ''Well no I don't think so?'' The stupid pirate walked a little closer, His finger up against his lips as he stared at the pistol trying to figure out if it was indeed one of his or not. ''I said is this one of yours?'' Raven repeated as she pressed her gun against his head. It was only now that he realized that it was not his and that the woman was mocking him in a dangerous way. ''I'll tell you what, why don't you three have my room for the night?'' The pirate was dripping with sweat as he looked up into Raven's eyes. The Black Pirate was grinning away like her old self, it was almost as if she wanted to pull the trigger no matter what. ''Or, or better yet...why not keep the room?'' Raven lowered her pistol, ''So kind of you darling, and in exchange why don't you go see the ship's doctor?'' The man looked up in confusion, ''Docot...'' before he could even repeat what Raven said she fired her pistol into his right leg. The pirate fell to his knees in pain as blood gushed out onto the deck. ''Oh that's right there is no doctor.'' Raven turned and winked at Audrey as she motioned for the two girls to enter the cabin. Closing the door behind them. ~ Raven sat herself down on the room's desk, crossing her legs as she reached for her hat. With a flick of her hand she flung her hat across the room landing it on the corner post of the bed. ''Well girls we have a room for the night.'' She joked. She then looked serious for a moment, ''Your probably wondering about that man.'' She looked down as if not to make eye contact. ''His name is Maxwell, he is..was my Captain many years ago.'' Raven looked up at the two with a smile, ''To be honest for the last few years I thought he was dead.'' She joked, making light of the situation in order not to brake down again. The Black Pirate got up from the table and started to walk around the room. ''Now we all, or at least you and I...'' Raven winked at Annie, ''...Know what is coming in the morning, and so we should probably find a way out of it.'' She started to open a few of the cupboards in the room and look about them. ''Escaping would be best, but who says we can't buy our freedom. Better yet trade?'' Raven paused as she gazed into a dark cupboard, ''Maxwell isn't the best fighter, or best pirate for that matter yet Cularmati keeps him around...why?'' Raven muttered to herself, wondering just why he was not killed on the spot. ''Any way we have all night, and if it's my last night I'm having a good time!'' Raven spun around with a huge grin on her face. In her left hand she held two wine glasses while in her other hand was a full bottle of red wine. ''Jackpot!'' She smirked as she steeped away from the cupboard that was full of 'party' goods. ~ ''Did he learn his place?'' Cularmati's eyes moved across a map of Arcadia as he spoke. His hands both busy with tools as he marked out different locations. ''She put him in his place Captain.'' A twisted girly voice came from the corner of the room. Marisa walked over to her captain, the light from the candles lighting up her face. ''But Marisa hear something odd, she hear that pirate raven know him by name that is not his.'' Cularmati stopped marking the map and looked up, ''She know's him as Maxwell of the tumble weed?'' His eyes moved across the map, stopping on the dark rift. ''Then she could know..'' Cularmati trailed off as he spoke to himself. ''Pirate Raven needs to know her place?'' Marisa moved up behind Cularmati and placed her human arm around his shoulders. ''As do you.'' Cularmati said, causing Marisa to back down from him. ''Yes master, she does.'' Marisa walked away from her captain backwards, back into the shadows. |

Annie merely shrugged when Audrey turned down her offer. "Whatever floats your boat sis." She answered. Annie sort of understood what she was saying about wanting to be someone who healed people rather than hurt them. It was like that...what did they call it? The Yafutoman thing with the swirly circle. Yin & Yang? Yeah, something like that. In a nutshell it was a concept that certain people were complete opposites of one another. Annie guess that she and Audrey were like that. Just then the door to their borrowed room opened and Wellwood staggered out. He looked tired and haggard. "Worked you over pretty good didn't she sport?" Annie leered up at him. The peg-legged pirate ignored her as he snatched his weapon out of her grasp. He looked as if he wanted to turn in on the two of them but decided not to. Nor did Annie try to reclaim the cannon. She merely pointed her thumb and forefinger up at him like a gun and mimicked the act of firing it at him. The message was pretty clear. The next time Annie claimed that cannon she'd be prying it from his cold, dead fingers. Stealing while Wellwood was unconscious wasn't all that sporting. But claiming it as a trophy after a gun battle? Yeah, that was something Annie could feel proud of. She'd already added Razar's name to her hit list and now Wellwood was on there too. As Wellwood headed for Moons-know-where Raven emerged to invite them both into their new room. Its original occupant also appeared, demanding they all leave. He noticed that Annie was carrying his pistols and wanted them back too. Raven was quick in convincing that he would be lucky to walk away with his life but then shot him in his leg, preventing him from walking much of anywhere. "Geez lady, you're cold." Annie chuckled. Unlike Razar and Wellwood this little jabroni didn't deserve to have such fine weapons. She didn't feel the least bit ashamed of taking them away from him. Annie entered the room and took a seat at the table. Picking up where the pirate had left off Annie drew the first pistol she'd stolen and began cleaning it as well. Raven followed her inside. ''Your probably wondering about that man. His name is Maxwell, he is..was my Captain many years ago. 'To be honest for the last few years I thought he was dead.'' The female pirate explained to them nervously. "Tryin' to rekindle an old flame huh?" Annie answered. She hadn't really been paying much attention or given her response any thought. Raven had no need to explain herself to Annie. Annie had already drawn her own conclusions anyway. But when Raven started talking about their plan for in the morning Annie's ears perked up. "Huh? You got another bright idea?" She asked curiously. It was clear Raven still didn't want to fight the Misery's captain but with their escape plan thwarted Annie didn't see that they had much choice. "Trade? Like what?" Annie muttered, hugging her shiny new guns close to her chest. "Wait, did you and Stumpy come up with somethin' whilst you were gettin' busy?" ''Jackpot!' was Raven's reply. She had found some booze and a few cups hidden in one of the cupboards. Annie accepted one, allowing the pirate to fill it from the bottle. She sniffed at it and grimaced. "Rot gut." Annie muttered. If Raven and Audrey wanted to get a little tipsy, that was their business. But Annie knew better. She still suspected that they had a fight on their hands come morning and the last thing she needed was to go into it with a hangover. Instead Annie kicked back in her seat and propped her feet on the table. "Y'know, after tomorrow you'll probably be captain of this heap." She said with a voice full of confidence. "And I'll have some new toys to play with." She added, picturing herself wielding a cannon in one hand and a sniper rifle in the other. Then Annie turned her attention to Audrey. "Hey sis! What kinda swag do you want?" She asked. Then her mouth twisted into a lecherous grin. "Oh wait, I know. You wanna nab that Oshima guy right?" She cackled loudly. "Maybe dress him up in a cute outfit and have him serve you tea?" Even without the wine Annie was in high spirits on the eve of their battle. The knowledge that they were in for a hard fight was all it took to put a smile on her face. |
