"I've got you now." Razar smirked behind his veil. "Nowhere to run this time." The sniper's words were more than just empty bravado. Fortune had placed him in an advantageous position from which he was certain he could bring his troublesome quarry down at last. The White Raven's crow's nest was out of Annie's effective firing range and gave Razar a good view of the ship's entire deck. Indeed, there was nowhere that the bounty hunter could run where her foe could not find her. Better still Razar had her pinned down in a precarious position at the moment. The cargo crates Annie was hiding behind were just tall enough to foil his aim but too small to allow her to do more than crouch down in their shadow. If Annie tried to make any sort of move she'd be exposed. "And then you're mine." Razar chuckled. He kept his sights on the crate, not giving his elusive prey even a second of reprieve. His finger hovered just over the rifle's trigger, ready to pull it at any second. Suddenly there was movement from behind the crate and something peeked over its edge. Razar smiled and prepared to fire. ~ "Okay Chuck, here's the plan." Annie explained to the Regal employee. "It's actually Roberto ma'am." The man spoke up, interrupting her. "When I make my move that jabroni's eyes will be on me. And that's your best shot at saving your campadre over there." Annie continued, ignoring him. "So as soon as I give you the word you hustle on over and haul his goofy @$$ belowdeck. Got it Slim?" "Yes ma'am." Roberto sighed. "Good. Now get ready." Annie nodded. Her hand slid into one of her pockets and gripped the pistol that was concealed within. She drew it out, taking a moment to make certain it was loaded and ready to fire, and then raised her arm over her head. Without looking at where she was aiming she pulled the trigger. "Aaaand GO!" Annie yelled as she sprang into action. ~ "What? NO!" Razar grunted in pain as a mote of blinding light leapt into his field of vision. It took only a moment for it to register in his mind that Annie had just fired a flare, using it to blind him for a few seconds. "Clever. Very clever." The sniper grudgingly admired Annie's ingenuity as he scrubbed at his eyes with the back of his hand in an attempt to wipe away the white haze that obscured his vision. After a few seconds Razar regained his sight well enough to aim his weapon. He was painfully aware that Annie was already on the move and he rose from his crouching position to locate her. Razar caught sight of Annie racing across the deck below and raised his rifle to gun her down but couldn't get her in his crosshairs. "Damn it!" Razar swore, banging his fist against the nest's railing as Annie passed into his blind spot. ~ The flare had no sooner left the barrel of her gun than Annie was breaking from the cover of the cargo crates and racing across the deck towards the mainmast. She was taking a big risk and she knew it. Everything rested on her assumption that Razar would have his dominant eye pressed to his rifle's scope. If it were then the sudden brilliance cast by the flare would be magnified by its lenses to blind the sniper long enough for Annie to make a break for it. And if not, then she'd be dead. Fortunately Annie's hunch seemed to be on the money. She reached the mast without a single shot being fired at her. The whole ordeal had taken only a few seconds but in the game she and Razar were playing a single second could decide who would survive. "And I just bought me a whole lot of 'em." Annie snickered. She was standing next to the mainmast with the crow's nest directly above her. It was still out of range of her machine gun but from her position there was no way Razar could take a shot at her without leaving it. "Got 'em at a dead angle." Annie reckoned. "Now I just need to find a way up there." Annie cast about for a few seconds in search of some way to climb higher into the rigging from where she was at. There were rope ladders a short distance away but they were no good. Razar would pick her off before she was halfway up if she used those. And the mast itself was too thick to climb up. That just left the ropes used to raise and lower the sails. "That's a slow road to the top though." Annie muttered. "That jack-a-ninny ain't gonna sit around with his thumb up his @$$ whilst I shinny myself up there neither." Whilst Annie was pondering the situation another reckless idea occurred to her. "Yeah, that's the ticket." She smiled as she shouldered her machine gun and drew her knife. ~ With Annie no longer in sight Razar was starting to feel the cold grip of panic setting in. He circled the crow's nest nervously, peering down at the deck in hopes of catching a glimpse of her. But it was to no avail. "Damn her." The sniper hissed in frustration. Annie was beneath his vantage point and out of his line of fire. Her clever tactic was forcing him to give it up and move to a different spot. Razar's eyes flicked about constantly as he kept watch for the wily girl's approach while searching for a new place to set up shop. "Perhaps there." He said to himself as he eyed the end of the yardarm. It was a narrow space that hung out over the open sky, making it all but impossible for Annie to approach him from anywhere other than along the arm itself. He'd have several yards of clear ground with no cover in which to put a bullet in her if she tried. But on the downside Razar realized that he'd be cornered with nowhere to go if something went wrong. Plus it was a precarious perch to be in if Annie found a good spot of her own from which to open fire on him. "Or perhaps not." Razar sighed. Just as the sniper was in the process of making up his mind as to whether or not to move the choice was suddenly made for him. "Raaahhh!" Razar screamed as the floor of the crow's nest shattered less than a foot from where he was standing and a steady stream of bullets erupted upward form the newly formed hole. It seemed Annie was making her move. ~ The deck below rapidly dropped out from beneath Annie as she sped up the mast. In one hand she grasped the severed end of one of the ropes that carried her upward into the rigging. And with the other she aimed her machine gun upward and unloaded every bullet she had towards the floor of the crow's nest. Beside her one corner of the White Raven's sail (the one connected to the rope) slowly sagged downward. Above her she imagined Razar was doing a little hot-footing as the floor beneath him disappeared in a hail of bullets. That thought would have brought a smile to her lips if not for the knife clutched between her teeth. A flash of red from above drew Annie's attention as Razar took a death-defying leap from the nest. He struck the sagging sail and slid down it at breakneck speed. Annie narrowed her eyes and adjusted her aim. "Gomma fug ooh uub!" She murmured around the blade of her knife. ~ Razar felt his stomach rising into the vicinity of his throat as he rode the sail downward like a slide. Despite his predicament he somehow managed to keep an eye on Annie, who was rising up to meet him. In a matter of seconds the two of them would pass one another. And Razar would be ready. It was no easy task raising his rifle up into a firing position but he somehow managed to do so. Razar knew that he'd only have one shot at Annie and vowed to make it count. She was not the only person on Arcadia who knew how to hit the mark after all. In the back of his head Razar mentally counted down the distance between them and calculated exactly where and when he'd need to fire to strike her. "3...2...1..." Razar breathed just as Annie sped past. "Fire." ~ At the exact same moment Annie was doing a few calculations of her own. Her automatic weapon gave her a much better chance of hitting her target. And so, just before Razar slid past she opened fire. A wave of lead arched through the air between them, tearing holes in the sail and hopefully doing the same thing to the sniper's hide. Above the chatter of gunfire a single shot rang out. And then Annie was falling. Her hand still gripped the rope tightly but now it appeared to have shrunken down to only a couple of feet in length. The knife tumbled out from between Annie's teeth but she maintained her grip on her machine gun. The wind whipped past Annie's ears as Annie fell. She braced herself for the jarring impact that was surely only a couple of seconds away. And then it came. It hurt like hell but wasn't nearly as painful as Annie had imagined. Then again she had banged her head pretty hard on the deck so her lack of pain might just have been the result of a concussion. For several seconds Annie lay on the deck. The disorientation she'd experienced on the quick trip down, coupled with the blow to the head, had knocked her loopy. During that time she would have sworn that someone had tried to lift her to her feet but when she finally opened her eyes and took a bleary look around, she was alone. "Now where'd that chum-bake slither off too?" Annie groaned as she hoisted herself painfully back to her feet. The moment she was upright she had to fight down the urge to vomit. The deck spun about and her legs threatened to give out beneath her. Apparently she was indeed concussed. ~ Razar slid off the edge of the sail and struck the deck hard. He was able to tuck and roll, avoiding any serious injury. Well, no more serious than the ones he'd already sustained. The sniper fought off the sudden urge to give in to the demands of his body and just collapse. Unconsciousness would be a sweet escape from the horrible pain he was feeling right now. But Razar was no quitter. He grit his teeth and forced himself to stand up and to carry on. He could taste blood in his mouth and knew that it was his own. If he was to survive this battle, much less emerge victorious, he would need to tend to his injuries first. Once again Razar spared himself a few seconds to search for a likely spot to hold up. And once again he was rudely interrupted by the arrival of his hated adversary. Annie fell from somewhere above and landed squarely atop the sniper's shoulders. Both of them crashed to the deck in a heap and Razar almost blacked out despite his stubborn refusal to do so. This time the burning pain that assailed his body helped him to focus on staying awake. With a Herculean effort he managed to shove Annie's prone form off of his back and crawl back to his feet. And in that moment he could very well have ended their duel with a well-placed bullet to her head. But by this time Razar was operating on sheer instinct. All he knew was that he was wounded and he needed to flee. Spotting a stack of water casks nearby Razar hobbled over to them and then collapsed in their shadow. His breath came in short, ragged gasps as he tore open his vest and yanked a badly dented sheet of metal out from beneath them. He gazed weakly at the metal plate and counted no less than seven bullets lodged in its face. The sniper was grateful for the timely wisdom he'd shown in stuffing the thing down his shirt before picking another fight with Annie. That little bit of foresight had saved his life. But Razar had not escaped from death as cleanly as he'd liked. The bullets had not penetrated his makeshift body armor but their impact had done him a fair bit of damage. His chest was likely one big bruise right now and he would not have been surprised if a couple of his ribs were cracked. "Damn her." Razar swore again as he cast the plate to the deck in disgust. His disgust grew into full-blown rage when he peeked out from behind the barrels and saw Annie just beginning to stir. It wasn't until that point that he was able to piece together what had happened within the last minute. During that short span of time he'd somehow miscalculated his shot and missed Annie by mere inches, striking instead the rope she'd been clinging to. And then, to make matters worse, he'd also failed to notice the golden opportunity that had quite literally landed right in his lap. "No more mistakes. I'll end you once and for all." The sniper swore as he raised his rifle, placed his sights squarely on Annie's head and pulled the trigger. ~ While Annie was bent over, catching her breath, she noticed her knife laying at her feet. And just as she stooped to retrieve the weapon she felt a bullet whiz past over her head. "Oh hell, lover boy is tryin' to punch my clock again!" She swore as she spun to the side, placing the mast at her back. Annie raised the knife up to her eyes and used its shiny blade like a mirror to catch sight of Razar in its reflection. She could see the stack of water casks out on the deck and figured they'd broken loose just as the cargo crates she'd taken cover behind earlier had. Just then another shot rang out and the side of the mast shattered in a cloud of splinters. "Yeah, yeah. Hold yer damn dhabus." Annie muttered irritably. She fell into a crouch and tilted out from behind the mast just enough to return fire. In the distance the water casks began leaking from several holes that had just appeared in their frames. Another shot from Razar's rifle sent Annie back behind the mast. "Damn it! This is really startin' to put a knot in my britches!" She swore. Her head felt like it was about to explode and it looked as if someone had draped a glassy film over both of her eyes. Annie knew that she wasn't going to last much longer with her brains scrambled like that. This was not the time to get into another drawn-out gunfight with Razar. "I think it's time mama put this baby to bed!" And with that said Annie threw caution to the wind and leapt into action, intent on making one last ditch effort to finally take Razar down or go out in a blaze of glory. ~ Razar ground his teeth in anger when that irritating woman managed to elude yet another of her perfectly aimed bullets. Once again he found himself squaring off against her in another shootout. The sniper could feel his long-awaited victory slowly beginning to slip through his fingers yet again. "No. I will not allow you to escape this time." Razar vowed. "This WILL end here and now!" Movement from behind the mast drew the sniper's attention. With his eye pressed to his rifle's scope he took careful aim to make one final, fatal shot and put Annie down at last. |

''Play times over little girl!'' Viktor chuckled as he swung his axe at Kimi. She was taken by surprise as she was too focused on what the Misery was doing. The axe blade was reversed so to only knock the young yafutoman girl over. The Large Viking rushed away down the stairs which confused Kimi a little. He had the chance to strike her down on the spot but chose not too. Only one thing came to her mind as to what the reason was and it was the Misery. As soon as the Black Pirate was out of sight she was up on her feet, hands on the wheel of the ship and eyes on the opposing ship. ''No way!....'' Kimi could not move the wheel at all now. The damage from the cannon fire from before had been too great and the White Raven's course was now set in stone. ~ ''I don't care what you have planned! I'll blow your ship out of the skies!'' Raven yelled at Kikiora as she clashed her blade against the large anchor weapon. ''Your going down, your ship is going down and then....only after that will he take your soul!'' The Ixa'taka woman grinned, ''Just like he took mine and all else on his ship.'' Raven could tell Kikiora was not talking literally but the way she said it had some sense to it. After seeing the crew of the Misery for herself it was like most of them had given up on all they once believed in, only to follow Cularmati. ''Coming by!'' Viktor yelled as he rushed past Raven, using his harpoon hand he bashed her out of the way. ''Time to go lass!'' Raven looked up to see that while fighting the Misery had come up along side them. The Viking jumped ship as the Misery started to descend and moved under the White Raven. Kikiora was quick to follow. ''Till next time!'' She called back to Raven, ''Razar! We're going! Call the date off!'' As soon as the Black Pirates where off her ship Raven rushed to the side just in time to see the back end of the Misery as it disappeared under her ship. ''All hands to the cannons!'' She yelled out, ''We'll blow them out of the skies as soon as they raise their sorry heads!'' Raven then turned to face Kimi, We need to turn then, get to it!'' ''The rudders damaged, we can't!'' Kimi yelled back down. They both knew that without movement their cannons where unlikely to hit home. It would be pure luck if the Misery came up next to their cannons and no sooner as they where ready the ship did indeed raise from the depths. Just as thought the ship was out of range of the White Raven's cannons. ''Darn it!'' Raven his her fist against the side rail, yet her anger quickly became fear as she spotted the raise bone like claw on the side of the Misery. ~ ''All this cannon fire and not a single scream of death. I find that not only hard to believe but insulting to my kind.'' Cularmati's voice demanded silence as he stepped out from his cabin. The crew stopped to look at him, most out of fear. The Black Pirate captain pulled out his pistol and fired a shot into the stomach of the nearest crew member. The sound of gun fire was quickly followed by the screaming pain of the man as he fell to his knees, bleeding out over the deck as his life slowly disappeared. ''That's better.'' Cularmati put his pistol away and walked over to the side of his ship where Wellwood waited for him. ''Ready Captain.'' Wellwood turned to face the White Raven. ''There is nothing on that ship for me.'' ''You are such a pitiful man, even without your memory.'' Cularmati raised his sword and pointed it at the White Raven. ''Fire!!'' The large bone like claw flew across the skies like a cannon ball, only much bigger and far more dangerous. As the Misery's claw took on the White Raven Cularmati stepped up onto the bone like bridge it had created. ''I desire a secondary sword for this battle.'' Cularmati muttered as one of his crew men stood by. ''Which will it be this time Captain?'' The tall thin pirate asked. As he placed his hands together in anticipation of his captain's choice. ''Surprise me.'' The Black pirate did not turn as he waited for his second sword. ''I would rather not pick myself, I might get it wrong.'' The pirate said out of fear, not wanting to make the wrong choice. When it came to swords Cularmati had kept a great number from opponents who lasted longer than five minuets with him. ''Wrong? That is the choice you have already made.'' Cularmati turned around in a flash, his sword drawn as he sliced the man in two across his waist. Before the body could fall Cularmati pulled out the man's own sword from his belt and raised it into the air in order to inspect it. ''Nothing special, but it shall do for the likes of them. ~ ''Incoming!!'' Raven yelled as she chucked herself to the deck of her ship. The Misery's claw flung at them and smashed into the side of the White Raven. The claws closed and in doing so started to tilt the ship, the deck started to shatter around where the claw was holding on to. ''My Ship!'' Raven yelled out as she tried to stand. She saw that Kimi was now on the same deck as her after falling from the top deck after the impact of the claw shook the ship. However she was getting up and so Raven's full attention was now on her Ship and nothing else. The Black pirate started to smash her blade against the bone claws and kept on at it even though she could see it was doing nothing to help. ''Get off my ship!'' ''Raven!'' Kimi finally stood up and pointed in horror out across the skies. Raven started to back away from the claw as she too spotted Cularmati walking over towards her. ~ ''Incompetent!'' Cularmati muttered to himself. He was not at all pleased that his crew had not yet sunk the White Raven and skinned her crew. However he would take a very small amount of pleasure in doing so himself, even if it would only take a matter of seconds. Yet as he reached the half way point across the bridge something inside him caused him to stop. Something did not feel right to him. Cularmati turned and looked down at the island, spotting Marisa next to the hammer. She had not yet retried it, yet to disobey orders was too out of character for the girl. No, he knew something else was going on. He looked in the direction that Marisa seemed interested in and sure enough he too saw what was approaching them all. ''Could it be?'' Cualrmati turned around and looked across the deck of the Misery. Looking right past his crew right at the back of the Misery stood a lone figure. ''Time?'' He muttered the words, as he locked eyes with Vision who just stood there and hung his head before disappearing out of sight. Cualrmati suddenly had on his face something that could almost of been called a smirk. He turned his back on the White Raven and made his way back to his ship. Dropping the sword he had picked up into the sky below as he set foot onto his ship. ''What is it captain!?'' Wellwood asked. ''Bring me Neptune.'' Cularmati stood waiting as he looked out once more across the skies. ''This will be interesting.'' ''And the White Raven sir?'' Wellwood asked as he signaled for a crew member to bring Cularmati his second sword. ''There is no White Raven.'' The Black pirate walked over to the crew man and took a hold of his sword, the Neptune. ''Ready the cannons!'' Wellwood yelled to the crew. ''Time to end this!'' |

Annie was right in front of him. She was dead in his sights and yet Razar did not pull the trigger. It took a monumental effort to fight down the urge to take the shot but after missing her so many times already he was unwilling to take another chance. Razar was afraid that something would go wrong if he did. Annie would dodge his bullet at the last second or stumble over her own feet and evade it. Whether on purpose or by accident Razar had come to anticipate such events occurring right at the moment of truth to foil even his most carefully planned attacks. But that wasn't to say that Razar didn't have another one of those in the works at that moment. He did, in fact, and was just waiting to put it into effect. And through a stroke of luck on his own behalf, Annie seemed willing to play right into it. "Closer....a little closer....just a little more...." Razar hissed beneath his bandanna, mentally ticking off the rapidly diminishing distance between himself and his quarry. "A bit more. In three....two...one...NOW!" Suddenly Razar rose up from behind his barricade and kicked one of the water casks loose from the stack. It broke free and rolled across the deck towards Annie. ~ As Annie raced across the deck towards Razar's makeshift bunker she fought off the urge to shower the area with bullets. That slippery sniper had a way of avoiding them no matter how many of the things she shot at him. Her last attack had been spot-on and yet Razar had slithered away from it. And so she was going to have to get a little crazy and drive in close enough that he couldn't possibly escape. "It'll have to be a point-blank volley right in his friggin' face." Annie huffed as she stormed forward. She was aware that she was taking a big chance right now but thankfully the sniper was making it a little easier for her. Annie had fully expected to eat a bullet on the way over. She'd been willing to make that sacrifice so long as it put her right in front of Razar. The wily young woman was confident that she'd be able to riddle him with bullets before he could chamber his next round. But for some reason the sniper was holding his fire. And then Razar made his move. He stood up, exposing himself to Annie's gunfire, as he sent one of the casks he'd been hiding behind rolling across the deck towards her. It happened so fast that Annie leapt over it on sheer instinct. And as the small wooden barrel rolled harmlessly beneath her feet she realized what Razar had been plotting all along. Perhaps it was the concussion she'd suffered that lay at the heart of this grievous oversight. Or perhaps she'd just been outsmarted by the sniper. Whichever it was, it was a moot point now; one that she would not live to regret. Annie had just made the one mistake that was about to cost her her life. ~ "You're mine!" Razar crowed triumphantly as he sighted in on Annie. She had evaded so many of his shots in the past but now he finally had her dead to rights. The water cask hadn't been meant to trip her at all. No, he knew Annie would jump over it just as she had. That had been the point. The sniper's plan had all hinged on getting the nimble young woman's feet out from beneath her, if only for a few seconds. And it had succeeded. Now, with Annie hanging in midair, there was no way she could roll aside or duck beneath his next shot. He had her exactly where he wanted her. A tight smile played across Razar's lips as he slowly squeezed his rifle's trigger. But his smile melted into a frown when he realized that, once again, the fates had played another cruel joke on him. Once again Annie had escaped death through sheer luck. *click* His rifle was out of ammunition. ~ Annie braced herself for the gunshot that was sure to come any second now. In the back of her mind she knew exactly how it would feel. The sound of thunder followed by the heavy impact that would strike her. Then would come the burning pain from within that would slowly fade into an overwhelming sense of coldness as the lifeblood drained out of the bullet-hole. But the gunshot Annie was expected never sounded. Instead her ears were greeted by the quiet snap of an action bereft of bullets. And it was music to her ears. Annie grinned fiercely as she landed soundly upon the deck and dashed forward, now practically assured of victory. "I got you now you sumbitch!" Annie yelled, brandishing her machine gun. She was practically standing next to Razar now. He had nowhere to run and there was no way she could miss him at this range. "So say your prayers and kiss your @$$ goodbye!" Her eyes burned with a mixture of madness and exultation as Annie pulled her weapon's trigger. The sight of her hated rival flinch in fear was satisfying to her. In that moment she knew that this was her greatest victory, one that she would brag about for the rest of her days. But that shining moment was about to fall to ruin about her as Annie's long-awaited victory was denied. *click* Her machine gun was out of ammunition. ~ In all of the excitement Razar had lost count of how many shots he'd taken. And he couldn't recall the last time he'd thought to reload either. And with Annie bearing down on him he realized that he would not have time to do so before she ended his life. Razar braced himself for another volley of gunfire. He was aware that he would not survive this one now that his makeshift armor had been removed. The dangerous glint in Annie's eyes as she drew near was enough to chill the very blood in his veins. Razar couldn't help but flinch when she delivered another one of her foul-mouthed threats; vulgar words that would precede a torrent of lead that would tear him to pieces. But it seemed that Annie's luck had finally run out. Her weapon was also out of bullets. Razar smirked beneath his shroud and raised his rifle. The bayonet fixed to its barrel stood poised like the tip of a spear. "It seems the tables are turned!" He cried as he leapt towards Annie, intent upon impaling her. "Hold it right there bub." Annie countered icily as her hand leapt up, brandishing a revolver. Razar was brought up short by its appearance. He cursed silently as he felt victory being cruelly snatched from his grasp yet again. "No...it can't end like this." He hissed in disbelief and disappointment. "Didn't your pappy ever tell ya not to bring a knife to a gunfight?" Annie snorted apathetically. "Now, drop that fancy heater of yours." Razar snarled beneath his cowl. "Fine. I'm sure it will make a fine trophy for you." He said, holding his empty rifle out at arm's length before dropping it unceremoniously to the deck. But a second before it could strike his foot stretched out to cushion the fall. And then, with a swift kick, he launched the rifle straight at Annie's face. Annie's pistol fired once as she dodged aside but Razar managed to blast past her in a rush of motion and a swirl of his cloak, grabbing his rifle out of midair as he went. She spun around to face him again and found herself staring down the barrel of a pistol identical to the one she was holding. Annie didn't have to look down at her waistband to know that Razar had snatched it away from her in his passing. The two gunfighters glared hotly at one another, their weapons poised to fire but neither one of them seemed willing to take the shot. Instead the two of them were locked in a fierce stand-off. "You're a slippery devil, I gotta say." Annie growled. "So what's next chum?" "It seems we're once again at a stalemate." Razar shrugged his shoulders in reply. "I doubt either one of us wants things to end like that. So I have a proposition for you." "Nuh-uh. I ain't buyin' whatever you're sellin' Jack." Annie refused to hear him out. "I dunno what slick trick you got up your sleeve this time but I'm not gonna be caught with my skivvies in the wind again." "Charming as always. Fine, how about this?" Razar returned coolly. Then, in a show of daring, he raised his pistol into the air, taking his aim off of Annie, to fire a single shot. "There. Five shots to five shots. More than fair I should think." Annie refused to take advantage to the opening Razar had given her. Like him, she wanted to end their rivalry but she wanted to do it fair and square. A cheap win would be an insult to both of them after all they'd been through already. Annie didn't want that and it seemed that neither did the sniper. "Alright Chuck. I'm listenin'." Annie finally relented. She kept her sights trained on Razar the whole time but was willing to entertain whatever he had in mind. "An old-fashioned showdown. Ten paces each and then we turn and fire." Razar explained. "No tricks. No more draws. Let the better of the two of us prevail." Annie smiled tightly at the idea. "Hmm, I got ya. Alright, I'm in." She agreed, finally lifting her own pistol into a neutral position. "Unless you're waitin' for a kiss or somethin' I suggest we get this show on the road then." ''Razar! We're going! Call the date off!'' Kikiora's voice called across the deck at that moment, bringing an unexpected blush to Razar's face. "I...yes, let us begin." He stuttered, recovering quickly. Annie nodded and turned her back on him but keeping an eye on him from over her shoulder. Razar turned away next. "One...two...three..." He began counting off his own steps, listening carefully to Annie's footfalls to be sure that she was doing the same. "Eight...nine...TEN!" Annie reached the end of her short walk and then dove aside, twisting in midair just as a bullet from her stolen pistol split the air above her. Twenty paces away Razar was crouched low to the deck and taking aim at her. Annie fired two shots at him in midair before she hit the ground and rolled back to her feet. Razar leapt up just as the bullets bit into the deck where he'd just been kneeling. He fanned the hammer of his pistol, unleashing two more shots in Annie's direction. He was not nearly as skilled with a handgun as he was with a rifle but there was no helping that. One of his shots missed Annie completely while the other managed to tear a hole in the hem of her skirt. "Two shots left." Razar sighed. Out of the corner of his eye he watched his shipmates withdraw and began moving to follow them. "I'll have to make them count." ~ "Damned slippery little son of a @#$&%!" Annie screamed as she took yet another futile shot at the agile sniper. "Only got two shots now." She added. "Better plug 'em before he slithers away again." Annie watched the Misery pull up alongside of the White Raven. Razar saw it too and was in the process of making his escape. "Oh no you don't!" She screamed. Annie pivoted on one foot and charged straight towards Razar, her pistol held at the ready. "Not before I end this!" Razar retorted. He lined up one of his last remaining shots and fired. Annie tucked and rolled, coming up in a crouch. She took careful aim and then returned fire. Razar leapt aside, clearing the White Raven's handrail to drop towards the deck of the descending Misery. He fired his final shot as he fell, knowing full well that it would miss its mark. Annie didn't even flinch as Razar's parting shot slid past her head. She reached the railing and pointed her pistol downward, loosing her last bullet in the sniper's direction. As she could imagine it struck the deck, leaving a smoking hole at his feet. "Hmph, guess we both came up short right there at the end." Annie snorted as she glared down at Razar. "Well, good for you ya lucky bastard." She saluted him before turning to walk away from the rail. "We'll settle up next time." ~ Razar lowered his head to peer down at the hole at his feet. The shroud and goggles he wore hid the angry expression on his face. Once again he had failed to kill Annie. Their rivalry had also survived and he knew that he would know no rest until he could put an end to it. Razar raised his head to stare up at Annie. Somehow he wasn't as disappointed as he knew he should be right now. The sniper had to admit that he had never enjoyed a duel as much as he had this one. Perhaps it wasn't such a bad thing to keep the game the two of them were playing from ending so soon. Razar raised the pistol he'd stolen from Annie in a salute of his own, as if to say; "come and take it back if you dare." before he turned to head belowdeck. "Until the next time we meet." He called over his shoulder as he vanished down the stairwell. ~ With her duel with Razar at an end and the adrenaline rush that had carried her through much of it beginning to ebb Annie took a few moments to rest and reload. Her head was pounding like a war-drum and her vision was a little blurry around the edges thanks to the concussion she'd sustained. But it was nothing that would impede Annie's ability to fight, at least for the time being. As Annie slapped a fresh magazine into her weapon she took stock of the situation occurring elsewhere upon the White Raven's deck. "Uh....what the @#$& is that?" She wondered aloud upon seeing the bony claw that had latched onto the ship's deck. Raven was in the process of trying to cut the horrid thing loose but didn't seem to be making any progress at it. "Hey boss lady. Whatcha doin'?" Annie asked as she strolled up behind the Black Pirate. "You need a hand with that....hand there or what?" |

"You need a hand with that....hand there or what?" Annie asked as she came over to see what it was Raven was trying to do. ''Don't just stand there!'' Raven yelled out as her attempts at removing the claw seemed more hopeless as time went on. She repeatedly hit her sword against the claws. ''Can't you see he's coming......'' Raven stopped as she looked up. Cularmati had turned his back on them all and was now walking away back to his own ship. Raven paused for a moment, she was sure their end was at hand but for one reason or another the Black Pirate captain of the Misery was no longer approaching them but turning away. Suddenly the bone like hand released it's grip from the White Raven and retraced back to where it had came. Raven almost fell over but managed to keep her footing as her ship tilted back onto it's side. For a moment all was calm, the type of calm one would feel before an approaching storm took place. It was an odd feeling for Raven as she had a feeling something bad was about to happen but yet nothing she could think of at that moment could match the thought of Cularmati personally boarding her ship to finish them all off. However in that moment of calmness she had the chance to take a look around at her ship. The fighting before hand kept her mind from seeing the true damage that had happened to the White Raven. The rudder was no more and the deck was now covered in holes. The wheel itself was still standing but the area around it was simply nothing more than a mess. A few of the sails had even managed to gain a few cuts and bullet holes. ''My ship.....'' Raven could only mutter as she realised just how bad of a shape her ship was now in. For years she had been searching for it's location and a means of getting it back from deep sky. Now she had her ship once more but now it looked worse than she could of ever thought possible. She found herself turning to see what game Cularmati was playing with them as it seemed he was now done. But while looking across the gap between the two ships she noticed the Black Pirate's attention was out on the horizon. Raven looked out and within seconds caught sight of what was more important to the Black Pirate then herself. ~ ''Legends can be reborn!'' A deep voice yelled out. ''...and go out in a blaze of glory!'' The large man chuckled to himself as he held on tight to his ships wheel. ''There you are!'' Narrowing his eyes he caught sight of the White Raven and the Misery. ''Just a little more now!'' Looking over his shoulder he checked on the makeshift engines that powered the wooden ship. Several Valuan engines all bashed together was all that was powering the ship and as it gained speed a few parts of wood flew off every now and then. ''Dying all alone in that place, just like the others. That's no way to end my story!'' The rudder started to bend before snapping off and falling behind into the distance. ~ ''Brace yourselves!'' Raven called out as she realised that this new ship was picking up speed and heading right for them. From the way it moved it was clear that it had no intention of stopping and it was as if it was also out of control. Before she knew it the ship crashed into the small island, the Valuan engines exploding on impact as the wooden ship came sliding to a stop. Raven found herself slowly standing back up as she looked out over the side of her ship and down at the wreck that now occupied the island. ''It can't be...'' ~ Marisa stood and watched as the ship crashed into the island only a few feet from her. He explosion caused some wood to fly her way yet she stood and watched, her eyes and fingers twitching at the chaos that appeared before her. Watching on a figure stood up and stepped down from the ship. Marisa looked at the man, he was almost as big as her captain and for a moment she thought he was Cularmati thanks to only seeing his outline against the flames of his ship. Yet this man had horns on his head and his armour caught her eyes as the light from the fire caught them. ''I believe that to be mine.'' A deep demanding voice came to meet Marisa's ears. The girl took a look at the hammer next to her then back at the man. ''No!'' She screamed out as she realised this man was after her master's new weapon. Without warning she dropped to all fours and rushed at the ship wreck. Gaining speed she leaped at the man and slashed with her metal claw, expecting the normal spray of blood but was shocked when none was spilled. It took Marisa a moment to notice that her claw had been stopped. It was pushing up against the back of this man's arm which was protected by the armour, but not the armour alone. Even she knew that her metal arm was stronger than the average man and she she realised that this man was not the every day run of the mill guy. Before she had time to pull her arm away and take another strike she felt her feet leave the ground below her. Her arm was being lifted up by the man who grinned at her. ''So she was right, here there be monsters still.'' Marisa found herself being spun around then flung into the air. Her head was in pain as she realised she was back by the hammer. Standing up she shook her head and locked eyes on the man who has flung her like a rag doll. ''You dear harm Marisa!'' She yelled as she got ready for another rush at the man. Yet her body froze as she felt a hand rest against her shoulder. Marisa turned her head and smiled at the sight of Cularmati standing behind her. ''Go.'' He commanded to which Marisa gave a quick nod and scurried back to the Misery, only stopping once to look back at her captain. ''Osma Dracoon.'' Cularmati said as he looked at the man then looked down at the hammer by his own side. ''Legends talk of such a man, a man who hunted beasts, a man who feared nothing.'' Cularmati took a hold of the hammer in his hand then flung it into the air towards Osma. The mighty hammer landed with a thud next to the Viking's side who did not even flinch but simple reached out and raised the hammer, resting it on his shoulder. ''I fear no man or beast, as long as there are people to protect then I shall do what I can to rid this world of monsters.'' Osma stretched out his arm and pointed his hammer at Cularmati. ''Monsters such as you.'' ''You're a little late.'' Cularmati smiled as he pulled out the soulless blade in one hand and the Neptune in the other. ''This monster should not still be standing.'' ~ ''Hes a fool, a brave one but still a fool.'' Raven said as she watched Osma size up Cularmati. She knew if the legends about his where true then he had a good chance against the black pirate, and after seeing the remains of the beast in the Dark Rift she knew they had to be true. Yet for one reason or another she still was not sure if this man was truly Osma Dracoon or not. Raven managed to pull herself away from the side of her ship as she looked out across her deck. ''Round up all we have!'' She ordered to Annie and Kimi, not knowing how many of the Regal Co crew members had survived. Yet before any of them could reply a voice called out from not too far off. ''Fire!!'' Raven turned just in time to see a wall of cannon fire blast from the Misery, Wellwood facing them as they fired on his word. They had no place or time to react at the left side of the White Raven was blown away. |

"I hear ya boss lady!" Annie grinned fiercely. "And I got just the tool for the job too." Annie ejected the empty clip from her machine gun and replaced it with a fresh one from the pocket of her dress. She peered down the length of the chain connecting the bony claw to the distant Misery and spotted someone walking along it like a tightrope. "Watch that last step there Chet." She snickered, taking aim. The machine gun erupted with bullets, spitting a thick wave of lead towards the claw. Its ivory surface chipped away wherever they struck but did not shatter. "A stubborn one eh?" Annie paused in her assault to search for a more likely spot to target. Annie had just decided to resume fire, this time at the knuckles of the claw, when the whole affair released its grip and dropped away from the White Raven's deck. "Huh? Uh...well, problem solved I guess." She muttered in confusion and disappointment. ~ Annie's confusion soon returned, along with the arrival of a strange-looking ship. "Dude definitely took a wrong turn at Albuquerque." She muttered. "Talk about 'wrong place, wrong time'." It did seem that the ship was on a collision course for the island below. But Annie couldn't fathom why anyone would be in such a place. "Whoever it is, he's either suicidal or has one big set of cajones on him." She added. But seeing what the mysterious new arrival was piloting she was beginning to suspect the latter. His ship was almost all engine. Or several of them lashed together atop a raft far too small to accommodate them. In fact, the strain the engines was placing on it was starting to rip it to pieces. But instead the raft crashed on the island below and exploded. "Bitch-tits WICKED!" Annie hollered, smiling broadly at the spectacle. "I don't know who this guy is but damn! He sure knows how to make one flashy entrance!" ~ It would turn out that Annie did actually know the identity of the mysterious newcomer. Or rather, she would have if she hadn't already forgotten what Osma Dracoon looked like. She squinted down at him, her eyes widening with avid interest as he first tossed Marisa across the island like a rag doll and then squared off against Cularmati himself. But it wasn't until Osma recovered his hammer and hefted it with ease that she recalled where she'd seen him before. "That's that guy! The one with the big friggin' hammer!" She yelled in surprise. "But....why's he here now? And why the hell didn't he just bring that damned hammer here himself?" ~ Once she spared a moment to think about it, it was pretty obvious to Annie why Osma had come; he was about to throw down against Cularmati in one epic death match. And she had a ringside seat! "Oh baby, this is gonna be good!" Annie cheered in anticipation of an awesome fight. Raven didn't seem to be enjoying the spectacle though. "Round up all we have!" She ordered. But Annie was too caught up in the action to take note of her anger. "Yeah, I hear ya!" Annie agreed. "Don't want anyone to miss this!" But just as she was turning around to go belowdeck Annie saw something that drained all of the excitement out of the situation, replacing it with a sudden panic. The Misery was closing in on them from behind and preparing to open fire. "Oh @#$&! Incoming!" Annie cried a warning, throwing herself to the deck just as the White Raven was struck by a heavy barrage of cannon fire. She suddenly felt very foolish for having gotten carried away earlier. Her fight with Razar was not the end of the battle. There was still an armed pirate ship gunning for them. "How could I have let that choice nugget of reality slip my mind?" Annie berated herself. Annie rose shakily to her feet and glanced around to assess the damage. It was difficult standing upright due to the way the White Raven was listing to one side. But at least it was still in the air. "Anyone still alive up here?" Annie groaned. "But damn, they got us good that time." |

''Fire again!'' Wellwood ordered as he once again pointed at the White Raven. ''I want that thing to burn! Burn from my hunting memories!'' His eyes narrowed as he watched on at the White Raven, a faint memory in the back of his mind that caused him pain. Pain so strong he wanted to wipe all thoughts of it away. The Misery fired it's side cannons, sending fiery canon balls soring across the skies as they smashed into the side of the White Raven. Blasting wood high into the skies as the ship burnt and started to lose altitude. ''So pretty.'' Marisa stopped in her tracks while on the way back to the Misery to admire the now burning wreck of the White Raven as it started to head towards the island. Marisa grinned, in her mind she hoped that one or two of the people on board would survive so that she could have some fun with them. She took another look back at her captain before setting off again to the ship. ~ Raven shook her head and tried to stand up after the sound of blasting had calmed down a little. It took her a second to realise that her ship was burning around her. She quickly stood up and took a step backwards, and just in time as the floor around her started to break away. ''My ship!'' She called out in horror as what was left of it started to dip towards the island. A look of shock on her face as after years of searching her ship seemed to be on it's way to being lost once more. "Anyone still alive up here?" Annie groaned. "But damn, they got us good that time." Raven could hear Annie but could not respond for a moment as she was still taking in all that had happened. She finally managed to bring herself around to face the young girl. ''Abandon ship...'' Raven muttered to herself as she looked around. The front was completely missing, the upper deck was no longer accessible and the left side was on fire. On top of all that she could feel the movement of the ship and it was no secret that it was now on a collision course with the small island. ~ ''....'' Wellwood said nothing as he watched the White Raven go down. He simply just turned around and walked away from the side of the ship. His work done he went back below deck. Marisa took a hold of a rope that was lowered from the Misery. Climbing up it she grinned at the White Raven. ''Burn, burn burning down...'' She started to sing to herself. Razar placed himself at the side of the Misery. While the rest of the crew where celebrating at it's demise he was concerned with something else. Placing his sniper on the rail he closed one eye and looked down his scope. The ship's destiny was now to be a smouldering wreck one this island but even that was not enough for the sniper. Scanning the ship he had to check and see if Annie was dead and if not he would make it his mission to see that she was. ~ ''What a fitting background for our duel. Nothing could come closer to being a visual representation of the two of us. Legends of old, soon to be another myth lost to time.'' Cularmati pointed his cutlass at Osma. ''Let's end this misery once and for all. Be he who I have searched for.'' Osma looked past Cularmati at the burning ship. He knew there was nothing he could do now. Even if Cularmati was not in his way he had no chance of getting to the White Raven, and his own ship was not in working order. ''We have protected the weak from monsters ten times your size but not one as dangerous.'' Osma raised his hammer. ''Let's end this now!'' ~ ''Captain! Captain Raven!'' Kimi yelled out as she climbed down from the upper deck of the ship. She heard what Raven had said about having to abandon the ship, knowing that Raven would not be too willing to go herself. ''Annie!'' Kimi spotted Annie as she got onto the deck. ''Help me, we need to get Raven below deck!'' Kimi rushed over to her Captain. ''The White Raven II is in the docking bay! If we can get to it then we can get out!'' She quickly looked around for the rest of the crew. ''Where are the others!?'' |

Annie turned when she heard her voice being called and saw Kimi rushing over to Raven’s side. She listened to what the younger girl was saying and had to agree that abandoning ship was probably the only option they had right now. “I don’t like tuckin’ my tail between my legs and runnin’ away.” Annie growled, casting a scathing glance across the sky at the oncoming Misery. “But I guess we ain’t got much choice. Alright, lets haul the boss lady down to that canoe of yours.” Annie helped Kimi to lift Raven from the ship’s ruined deck and carried her towards the stairwell leading below. “Hang on a sec. Let me round up that passel of rejects.” She paused next to the speaking tube mounted on the wall next to the staircase. It would carry her voice belowdeck to the rest of the crew. “Alright you lot! Get up here! I gots orders for ya!” Annie screamed into the speaking tube. Her voice had scarcely ceased reverberating down its length before the sound of footsteps up the stairs heralded the arrival of a trio of Regal Boys. “We were just on the way up when you called.” One of them announced. “So what do you want us to do?” A second asked. Annie looked the two of them up and down. “I want you lot to get belowdeck and prepare to abandon ship.” She explained. “Ooooookay.” The third Regal Boy arched an eyebrow. He was on the verge of asking why Annie had called them up to the top deck just to tell them to get below but decided it was probably in his best interest to just let that one go. “Here, help Shorty get the captain all comfy.” Annie continued, motioning for one of the men to ease Raven’s weight off of her shoulders. “I’ll be down in a bit.” “Huh? You’re not coming with us?” The third man asked with concern as he hoisted Raven’s arm across his shoulders and helped Kimi to bear her down the stairs. “I said ‘in a bit’ didn’t I?” Annie snorted. She fished one of her cigars from her dress pocket and clenched it between her teeth. “Just want to get a parting shot in before we leave.” Annie explained before lighting it up and exhaling a puff of smoke. ~ Annie soon found herself left alone on the White Raven’s main deck. With grim purpose she approached the helm and positioned herself behind the steering wheel. Annie was aces when it came to guns and cannons but she knew next to nothing about piloting anything larger than a rowboat. But for what she had in mind she didn’t need to be. “If we’re going down, you’re all comin’ with us.” Annie growled, narrowing her eyes at the oncoming Misery. Never taking her eyes off of the horrific galley, she slowly turned the White Raven’s wheel until the ship’s decimated prow was aligned with the Misery. “Raven won’t like this one bit. But no fair amount of bubble gum and bailin’ wire is gonna fix this bucket now.” Annie reckoned. “Still, better to send her off in a blaze of glory than let her go down like a chump.” Annie was tempted to remain at the helm until the bitter end of her suicide run at the Misery, if only to see the look on the sniper’s face up close and personal. “Heh, bet he’d be crappin’ his pants if I were to land this flamin’ tub of…..wait a sec. Oh. HELL. NOOOO!” Annie’s sudden change in tune came with good reason. At the thought of Razar she reflexively scanned the Misery’s deck, thinking to catch sight of him and hoping he was freaking out about now. Instead a brief flicker alerted her to his incoming attack. The glinting of light on the sniper’s scope was unmistakable. Annie fell to a crouch behind the steering wheel mere seconds before one of its handgrips shattered into splinters. “Whoa, nelly!” She exclaimed. “That guy just doesn’t know when to give up. I kinda respect that I guess. Still gonna put my boot in his ass though.” Annie realized that time was running out and she didn’t have a moment to spare on Razar right now. Nor would she be able to keep the White Raven on its collision course with him taking pot-shots at her. “Guess I’ll have to bite this one.” She sighed. “Have to make a break for it too I reckon.” It galled Annie to abandon her post and then flee the doomed ship. She consoled herself with the knowledge that the Misery’s crew wasn’t likely to let them escape and that made her feel a little better. “Round two goes to you panty-waists.” Annie snarled as she untied her bandanna. Then, with a flick of her wrist she tossed it into the air beyond the steering wheel. “Catch ya for lucky number three!” Annie howled as a shot rang out and the piece of cloth was pierced by a bullet. At the same time she launched herself out from behind the wheel and made a mad dash for the stairwell. ~ “DAMN YOU!” Razar howled angrily as he chambered another round. Yet again he’d fallen for one of Annie’s diversions and missed his mark. In the back of his mind he was aware of how tense he was right now. And that tension was making him sloppy. Razar took a deep breath and took careful aim. Annie was only a step away from evading him again. “Wait.” He breathed. In that single second Razar had all the time in the world. He imagined he was running with Annie, could sense her next movement before she made it. Her feet struck the first step and she started down into the lower deck where she would be lost from his sight. “Wait.” Razar repeated. Annie’s waist slid into the darkness, followed by her midsection. She was half gone now. But she would not escape; not this time. “NOW!” Razar squeezed the trigger just as Annie’s shoulders sank beneath his line of sight. The bullet traced an unerring path through the empty space between the ships and then struck home. Razar smiled fiercely in exultation as his elusive quarry finally fell. ~ “Aaah, ow ow ow GEEZ!” Annie gasped in pain as she toppled down the stairwell. She fetched up in an anguished heap at the bottom and lay there for a moment, struggling to catch her breath. “Miss Annie? You okay?” Came the voice of one of the Regal Boys. He approached her from the gloom of the hallway, a look of concern on his face. “Dunno yet.” Annie gasped. She tried to sit up but crumbled again as a wave of pain spread downward from her shoulder to envelop the rest of her body. “Thought I told you suck-monkeys to get to the liferaft.” She winced up at him, too sore to be angry. “You did. But they sent me back to wait for you.” He replied. Annie could tell by the blush on his face that it had been entirely his idea. His face reddened even more when he held a hand out to help her up. Annie regarded the outstretched limb, debating whether or not she should try to look tough and get up on her own. But, in the end, she decided to accept the act of kindness, even if it did give the poor fool a thrill. “OW! Sonuva….” Annie whined in pain as she was pulled to her feet. Her hand shot up reflexively to her shoulder and came away covered in blood. “Well…..guess he got me this time.” She sighed. The Regal Boy stepped aside to look Annie over. “Whoa, that looks pretty bad Miss Annie.” He gasped when he beheld he patch of redness that was slowly beginning to spread across her white blouse. “We should get you below and get someone to…” “If it were ‘pretty bad’ I wouldn’t be standin’ here, jawin’ with your goofy mug now would I?” Annie cut him off. Now prepared for the pain she reached up and probed her newest gunshot wound with the tip of her finger. She winced slightly at the sensation but seemed satisfied with what she felt. “Hmm, it’s just a scratch. The bullet passed clean through.” Annie explained, offering her good arm to the Regal employee so that he could help her hobble down the hallway. “Good thing about sniper rifles is that they’re built for penetration.” She began explaining. “Unless they strike bone or nick somethin’ vital, they don’t leave much of a wound. Now, hollow points….yeah, those make a mess of ya.” “Miss Annie. Maybe you should try to rest.” The Regal Boy suggested. “I could carry you if you like.” As sore as Annie was she found the strength to stomp on his foot. “And let ya cop a cheap feel of my keister? Nothin’ doin’ bub.” The insinuation silenced the man immediately. Or maybe he was just embarrassed that Annie had figured him out so quickly. In either event, they made the remainder of the trip down into the White Raven’s hold in silence. Only when they reached their destination did the man speak again. “Hey! We need some help over here!” He called out to his fellows. “Annie’s been shot!” |

''Annie has been what!?'' Kimi looked up from the side of the White Raven II on hearing about Annie's wound. In a flash she leaped down from the small ship and started to make her way over to where Annie was. ''Come and give us a hand!'' She called out to the other Ex Regal crew members, knowing she alone could not help move Annie by herself. Now with three of the Regal Crew they could quickly and safely help Annie onto the escape ship. ''We have no time to lose, the White Raven will hit land soon, if not explode before hand!'' Kimi climbed back up and took the helm of the small ship. ''What are we waiting for....'' A soft voice came from the back of the White Raven II's deck. There with her hands on the rails as she pulled herself up from her resting position stood Raven. ''I said what are we waiting for!'' She suddenly yelled out. ''Let's get the heck out of here now!'' ''Aye aye Captain!'' Kimi grabbed the helm and before they knew it the White Raven II was lifting off. ''Oh no!'' Kimi called out towards the bay doors. ''They are not opening!'' She quickly started to scan the deck with her eyes for anything that could help and in doing so she spotted Annie. ''Annie, the door!'' She yelled, knowing that Annie must have something on her that could be used to 'open' the door for their ship to escape. ~ Wellwood closed the door behind him, shutting out the light as he sat on the stairs to lower deck. He rested his head in his hands. ''Is what I did right?'' He muttered to himself, knowing he had to follow orders or end up like many before him. ~ ''Watch out!'' Yelled one Misery crew man, ''It's coming for us!'' Called out another as several more started to run to the other side of the ship. ''They're coming to play!'' bellowed out the loudest of all the voices on deck. the crew men stopped in their tracks and turned to see as Victor slowly walked to the side of the ship that was closest to where the White Raven II was coming in to impact. With his hands up high as if to welcome the burning ship and a grin on his face. ''Come on lads! It's time to have some fun.......What the!?!'' He turned and yelled up at the crows nest as Razar's attack caused whoever was on a suicide mission to lose control and free the ship from it's impending collision. ''I want a little action over here and you're messing it up for us all!'' ''You will get your fun.'' Kikiora walked up to where Victor was standing and pointed out towards the burning wreck. A small explosion had just happened at the back of the ship and what looked like a small white boat seemed to be escaping from the doomed ship. ~ ''Your evil misdeeds shall not go un paid!'' Osma roared as he slammed his hammer into the ground, kicking up sand he rushed towards where Cularmati stood, dragging his hammer across the ground leaving a trail behind him. The Black Pirate grinned at the thought of his end soon upon him. With a flick of his wrist he sent 'his' Neptune blade spinning into the air above him. Too occupied with his own attack Osma took no notice and rushed right up to Culrmati, swinging his hammer around as he came to a stop. The added speed helped to swing the massive weapon and as it came around to slam into Cularmati it instead came to a sudden stop. ''What...what are you?'' Osma looked up in disbelieve as Cularmati had stooped the attack with his one free hand, catching the head of the hammer. The Viking was surprised but managed to take a few facts into account. The grin on the Black Pirate's face was looking less smug than before which showed he was expecting less of an attack. The ground at his feet showed marking that the impact had in fact pushed him a little backwards, and the Osma spotted that between Culrmati's fingers was the smallest trickle of blood from where he had caught the hammer. ''Not as strong as you thought?'' Osma grinned back at the pirate. ''Not as smart as you thought.'' Cularmati replied as he let go of his grip on the hammer. No sooner as he did this he raised his leg and kicked Osma forcing him to step backwards. Reaching into the air Cularmati timed it just right to catch 'his' Neptune blade as it felled back down at him. Then with one swing of his arm slashed out at Osma, cutting only his armour as the Vicking took evasive manoeuvres from the oncoming attack. ''This will end here, I can promise you that!'' Osma said as he checked over the damage to his armour. ''You better keep that promise.'' Culramti answered as the two once again raised their weapons to one another. ~ ''Fun! Fun....Fun? Where is the fun?'' Marisa ran around on all fours over hearing Victor talk about 'playing'. Marisa want's fun, she can play too!'' Victor looked over his shoulder at Marisa, giving her a look of disgust. ''That thing creeps me out to no end.'' ''Just think of her as an innocent child, wanting to make new friends.'' Kikiora patted Victor on the back in jest. ''Now why don't you be a big brother to her and full fill her wishes?'' At first Victor grunted, taking it as being mocked by the Ixa'taka warrior, but that was until she grinned and pointed at the escaping ship. ''Oh right! I get ya!'' He yelled out. ''Hey Marisa girl, you want to play?'' Victor took a hold of Marisa's legs and started to spin her around. ''Wee, Marisa is having fun!'' The Valuan girl giggled to herself. Victor finally let go as Marisa went soring into the air towards the White Raven II. ''Maria is coming to play!'' |

(OOC - C.box is still down for me so keep an eye on your PMs Daioh. Until it's fixed, that's the only way I have to communicate with you.) “Careful! Ow, dammit! Watch where you’re…” Annie muttered a string of curses as Raven and her new crew assisted the wounded gunhand onto the White Raven II. Amid a great deal of bumps and jostling she was loaded onto the small ship’s deck and propped against one of the rails to rest. “Um…you gonna be okay Miss Annie?” The concerned Regal Boy from the stairwell was still hovering nearby. His face was a mixture of embarrassment and genuine concern for her. Annie wasn’t sure whether she should be touched by his heartfelt feeling or just kick him in the groin to dissuade them. “I’m friggin’ SHOT ya lack-witted jack-a-ninny! What the hell do you think?” Annie yelled at him, wincing as a hot lance of pain slid down the length of her arm. “I’ll just go and fetch the medical kit then.” The Regal Boy calmly replied. “I think I saw one in the wheelhouse.” “Yeah, do that.” Annie groused. Then, in a softer voice she continued. “And thanks, uh…” “It’s Frederick.” The Regal Boy answered. “You can call me Freddy if you want.” “Whatever Chuck. You back with the band-aids yet?” Annie asked flatly. “Oh, uh….yeah. I’ll just…yeah.” Freddy sighed, turning to go belowdeck. ~ ''Annie, the door!'' Raven’s voice called frantically. Annie looked up from the seat she’d taken on the deck and frowned. “No rest for the wicked.” She sighed. Hauling herself painfully to her feet she glanced back at the White Raven’s cargo hatch and saw that it was still closed. “Any other time I’d be pleased as punch to help out. But…” Annie withdrew one of her incendiary grenades and gazed glumly down at it. “…with my throwing arm all shot up, that’s a pretty tall order.” Just then Freddy returned with the med kit. “Here, Miss Annie. There are some bandages, a couple of Sacri Crystals and a little Healing Salve.” He listed the kit’s contents. “Great! I’ll take that and you take this.” Annie pulled the kit out of his grasp and shoved the grenade into his hands. “Just chuck it at the doors over yonder.” She gestured towards the WR’s stern and the jammed doors that were blocking their escape route. “Oh, uh okay. What…is this?” Freddy asked. His eyes grew wide when he realized what he was holding. “Is this what I think it is?” “Yes, yes it is. Unless you think it’s a big lumpy egg. In which case you’re a dumbass.” Annie answered. “Now quit stallin’ and just throw the damn thing.” “Right!” Freddy answered. He raised his arm and prepared to throw the grenade. “Hold it.” Annie stopped him. “I’ve seen enough comedy to know where this is going.” She calmly reached up and pulled the pin on the grenade for Freddy. “Okay, NOW throw it.” Freddy looked at her with a hurt expression. “I know, I wasn’t gonna….er, I was just stretching my arm. You know, before I threw it.” “You got 3…2…1…” Annie counted down the seconds before the grenade exploded. “Oh!” Freddy took the hint and tossed the small explosive. It didn’t travel quite as far as Annie would have liked but the hold’s door was too big a target for him to miss. The grenade hit the floor and bounced once before it burst with a flash of bright flames and concussive force, knocking the doors off of their hinges in the process. “Okay boss lady! They’re open!” Annie called back up to Raven. “Now get us the hell out of here!” ~ As Kimi piloted the WRII out of the doomed ship’s hold, Annie slumped down against the railing and opened the med kit. She glanced up once at Freddy who was still loitering nearby, frowned in his direction and then began loosening the ties on her corset. “Um…what are you doing ma’am?” Freddy asked, blushing and averting his gaze. “I’m building a model airship! What’s it look like?” Annie snapped. She shrugged out of the corset, gasping as it briefly snagged her arm, and then began unbuttoning her blouse. Her frown deepened when she saw that Freddy was doing his best not to stare at her. “I’ll just leave you be for now.” Freddy began walking away. “But call if you need me okay?” “Where do you think you’re going?” Annie asked sullenly. “Get your lanky ass back here and give me a hand.” Freddy froze in mid-stride and then turned back, still trying to hide his embarrassment. By now Annie had slid out of her blouse, revealing the lacy white bra she was wearing beneath. The flustered Regal Boy scarcely noticed the bleeding gash in Annie’s shoulder, instead focusing on her attractive set of… “Quit yer gawkin’ and help me you flamin’ sack of dhabu crap!” Annie’s angry outburst brought Freddy out of whatever lewd daydream he’d been indulging in. “Oh, right.” Freddy agreed sheepishly. He knelt down next to Annie and opened the jar of Healing Salve she’d found in the med kit. Dabbing a blob of it onto his middle finger he gingerly rubbed it into Annie’s wound. She winced at the contact but bore the pain. As Freddy fished out a roll of bandages and began unwinding one, Annie claimed one of the Sacri crystals and crushed it with her good hand. A halo of glittering green light surrounded her for a few seconds, bringing with it the healing magic of the Green Moon. Annie breathed a sigh of relief as it washed over her, easing the burning pain in her shoulder and stanching the flow of blood oozing from it. “OW! Watch what yer doin’ blunder-fingers!” Annie’s relief was short-lived. Freddy was winding the bandage around her wounded shoulder and had tied it a bit too tightly. He received a stiff elbow to his ribs for his efforts but, upon inspecting his work, Annie rewarded him with a compliment. “Hmph, not a bad field-dressing. You’re not such a panty-waist after all Fred.” Upon hearing her praise, Freddy looked as if he might cry. “What? What’s your damage now?” Annie asked as she quickly buttoned up her shirt. “Show’s over. Deal with it.” “You…you just…no, that’s not…” Freddy gushed. “It’s just…well…you called me by my name just then. I’m just…happy.” “Huh?” Annie arched an eyebrow in confusion. “What in the Sam Hill are you blubberin’ about?” ~ Before Freddy could press on with whatever declaration he was finally about to confess, a small object careened down onto the WRII’s deck. “Fire in the hole!” Annie yelled a warning, leaping to her feet and shoving Freddy out of its path. He was caught off guard, lost his balance and fell to the deck. “Heeey, why’d you do that?” Freddy asked in a hurtful tone. He sat up and stared at Annie but found that his view of her had been blocked by someone else. And Freddy was pretty certain that this person was not a member of the crew. “It’s time to play.” The person, a girl dressed in the garb of a sailor was saying in a creepy voice. “You again?” Annie snorted, taking a casual step to one side. “Hey you! Better make yourself scarce.” She warned Freddy over the newcomer’s shoulder while cunningly looping her foot into the strap of her machine gun. “Yeah! I’ll uh…go get help!” Freddy returned before dashing off. In a situation like this he knew he’d only be getting in Annie’s way. And there was also a good chance it’d get him killed to boot. “LET’S PLAY!” The strange girl screamed, launching herself towards Annie and lashing out at her with a mechanical claw. “I’m like a broken bango!” Annie yelled back, kicking her machine gun up from he deck and into her waiting hand. “I DON’T PLAY!” ~ The Sacri crystal that she’d used earlier had also caused the pain in Annie’s head to lessen as well. It had subsided to a dull ache but at least she could see straight again. Still, Annie’s shooting hand was connected to her wounded shoulder so it was understandable that her aim was a little off. Even so, on the cramped deck of the WRII, there wasn’t much room for Marisa to dodge. Annie squeezed the trigger on her machine gun and sent a hale of bullets clattering against the insane girl’s mechanical arm. But then Marisa leapt into the air, above Annie’s line of fire, and landed precariously on the ship’s rail. “Quit that damned hoppin’ around and just DIE already!” Annie barked, whirling around to take aim again. “Marisa not dying today!” Marisa yelled back. “You not so lucky though!” The mechanical claw whipped out, swatting the machine gun out of Annie’s clutches. It skittered across the deck and came very close to falling overboard. “Damn.” Annie hissed. She drew her revolver out to ward Marisa away but she didn’t seem intimidated by it in the least. “Hey Boss Lady! I could use a little help down here!” Annie called out to Raven. Marisa grinned widely, her eyes flashing with undisguised bloodlust. And then she leapt…. |

As Marisa leapt down as Annie Raven took no time at all to pull out her pistol and take aim. Pulling the trigger a shot was fired, hitting the psychotic girl in her metal arm that was reaching out for Annie's head. The shot caused her to lose balance and land with a thud against the deck, rolling towards the edge of the ship and standing up just in time to balance herself before falling overboard. ''Get of off my ship!'' Raven yelled as she matched over to Marisa, reaching her just as she stood up. With a swift kick she raised her foot and booted the blond off the edge of the ship. ''Good by to bad rubbish!'' Raven said as she turned to give Annie a hand. ''Now, let's get out off.....'' Before the captain could finish her sentence she pulled out her Green Moonstone cutlass and swung it just over Annie's head in time to make contact with a set of metal claws, only inches away from the girls head. ''Play time not over, I'm not sleepy yet.'' Marisa's head rose from the side of the ship. ''What the....'' Keeping her claw hand locked against her blade Raven took a look across the side of the small ship. Marisa had latched on and used her claw hand to climb under the ship and come up right next to where Annie was. ~ ''Looks like she is having all the fun.'' Victor sighed as he watched the commotion from the side of the Misery. ''I wouldn't worry, it won't be long now.'' Kikiora came and stood next to the Viking. ''Looks like the end is near for one of them'' They both looked down at the small island below where the battle between Cularmati and Osma was still raging. ~ ''Die monster!'' Osma gripped his hammer and rushed at the black pirate. Swinging it downwards only to miss by an inch as the pirate turned to his side in anticipation. ''Child's play.'' Cularmati muttered as he gazed at Osma. ''I can read you like a book'' He withdrew his soulless blade and ran it though Osma's side, piercing though his body. The old man gagged before splitting out blood. Cularmati pulled free his sword and kicked the old man back to the ground. ''Is this all the great Osma has to offer?'' He sighed with disappointment. ''It's as if you are not really him, and if not.'' The black pirate held up his sword as the light glimmered from the blade. ''You are no use to me.'' |
