''Purorasu!'' A voice loudly called out. ''That mask, them cloths! Your from Yafutoma too!'' Koi straightened in surprise, finding the source of the shouting to be an energetic young girl. The words registered and she relaxed, a smile forming under her mask. ''If I'm not mistaken your a Purorasu Wrestler?'' The girl asked, extremely pleased to see her it seemed. “Indeed I am!” Koi confirmed with a loud laugh, making a show of examining her fellow Yafutoman by leaning forward and peering at her intently. “I must admit it has been some time since last some random lad or lass recognized my chosen vocation!” ''The sails Kimi.'' A hand clasped on the young girl, apparently named Kimi's, shoulder. The girl started in surprise, giving a quick bow and ''Ah yes Captain!'' before zipping off to attend to her duties. Koi blinked as she came to the easy conclusion that this was the Boss Lady, and that she had missed whatever chance she may have had to size up her character when she was unawares. That may be an idea that would not have worked well regardless, she noted with curiosity, given the woman was wearing a rather similar type of mask to her own. Her own hid her face in its entirety, but the exposed mouth style that the captain wore was fairly popular among her peers. The rest of her garb was, while no less flamboyant in its own way, of a decidedly pirate style instead of that of a Wrestler or a Fighter. Not that she was assuming the good, or potentially not so good, captain couldn't “fight”; but in her mind there was a difference between someone who could fight, even fight extremely well, and a Fighter. ''So,'' The captain started, interrupting her musings and giving the wrestler a once over and a smile. ''Your the one Annie found to join my crew?'' Koi paid the woman's attempt at summing her up no mind, having long since grown used to such moments in her career, and used the lull to begin forming her own opinion of her potential employer. ''That some kind of fighting outfit you got there?'' The captain questioned, her gaze locking intently on Koi's obscured face. ''I see you too wear as mask, but I'm sure your reason is far from this same as mine.'' Perhaps, Koi thought to herself with curious amusement. There were many reasons to wear a mask, but hers was as simple as it could get; To hide her face. A pirate was likely also someone who would like to hide their face, she was sure, although it could be for any number of other reasons that she could think of. No reason to begin gossiping in her own head, though, as she was sure if the woman felt like informing her of the reason she would have done so in a far less cryptic manner. Still, it would do no harm to play along and she was getting into the Purorasu Spirit as events unfolded more and more. With a grand, sweeping gesture across her mask, fingertips brushing lightly against the cloth, she gave a boisterous reply. “Ah, but a mere mask is just a scrap of colorful cloth one uses to disguise the truth! I present no such deception! The face you see before you is that of my true self; the representation of my indomitable spirit!” There was no true lie in her words, either. Merely an omission. She truly felt that she was more at home as Koi than she was as Jin. As far as she was concerned it was the face underneath that was the mask and the deception. ''The names Raven Claw, Captain of this ship. The White Raven.'' The masked pirate introduced herself, offering her hand. “The Indomitable Koi, Purorasu Wrestler of Yafutoma.” Koi clasped Raven's hand in her own and returned the introduction. She gave an amused chuckle afterwards. The captain clearly was a woman who also appreciated the appeals in having a theme, it seemed. If nothing else, from her demeanor and the little things, Raven Claw at the least wasn't the more crass and despicable type of air pirate. There was some measure of respect earned in that. Her thoughts were interrupted once more as the captain crossed her arms across her chest and continued. ''I'll say this up front, I don't have much gold right now. I hope that you understand from my position but I can't go into too much detail right now. We have an item onboard this ship that was requested to be found by us only to be returned to the one that requested it. In any situation a simple exchange for said item for gold would be in order, yet it is not that simple.'' Time for business, it seemed. Raven motioned for Koi to join her on a walk towards the center of the deck, the wrestler staying silent as she followed and let the woman speak. ''I know for a fact that this man will cause us a little trouble, and this is where you would come in. As I said, of this moment I can not offer you much till our little exchange is done. You can see we are not the physically strong type.'' Raven punctuated that statement by nodding towards the energetic Yafutoman girl, Kimi, who was still tending to the sails. ''We could do with all the help we can get, so what do you say?'' Raven's lips broke into a smile. ''We will be setting of any moment, so now is your last change to back down.'' Koi gave the matter some further thought. Though they were pirates, the mission she was being hired for was legitimate enough. In truth, Merchants often pursued far more unsavory prospects than this sounded. She also knew well the need to hire on some insurance or protection, as often those one dealt business with were not gifted much in the way of integrity. She was also impressed with Raven Claws apparent honesty. Many would make excuses or hide behind threats or strict demands in order to veil what they considered signs of weakness. At the least among Merchants, an admittance of being low on gold and thus bringing the potential of not being able to follow through should their prospects turn south was almost guaranteed to be a deal breaker. Unless there was some extremely worthwhile reward promised, but she honestly didn't need any such thing. In truth, she could likely accept no payment at all and be fine. Such would arouse suspicion, though, so she would have to put up a token effort at hashing out her payment when the time came. Koi had reached her conclusion, but Raven stopped and spoke again before she could voice it. ''Just keep one thing in mind. Not many can handle sailing under that.'' Raven stretched her arm up, pointing into the sky, where the tattered flag of the White Raven was fluttering in the wind. Koi gave a boisterous laugh, a wide smile hidden under her mask and a fire in her eyes. That was theatricality worthy of the ring! Yes, she suspected she would have no problem being employed under this woman. At the least for now; So long as the captain did not seriously subvert the impression Koi had of her so far. “Very well then, Raven Claw!” She gestured at herself with a dramatic sweep of her arms. “The Indomitable Koi will lend you her strength and spirit!” |

Raven smiled back at Koi, she wasn't really expecting Annie to find anyone daring enough to join a Black Pirate ship but this woman looked like she could win a fight or two. She had to remember to thank Annie when she saw her next, which reminded her of her new crew below deck. ''Time we set sail!'' Raven called out to Kimi who was now just setting the last of the sails. ''Right Captain!'' Kimi saluted as she rushed over to catch up with Raven who was making her way to the ship's wheel. ''She has only just been raised, so try and make yourself at home.'' Raven turned to let Koi know the reason for the ship's current condition. Kimi also turned to look at Koi and followed up with a quick wave and smile. She was still excited to be around someone else from Yafutoma. Within moment's Raven once more had her hands on the wheel of her beloved ship. ''did you miss me?'' She placed her head against the wheel for a moment as she ran her hand down it. Then she stood up right and spun the wheel, causing the ship to slowly pull away from the Platform's dock. ''So long Audrey, may we meet again.'' Raven muttered to herself, knowing that where they where headed was no place for the young girl. ~ ''You know, for a Black Pirate she wasn't that bad.'' Jack places his hands against his hips as he stood watching the White Raven. ''After all she did bring Archibald's Granddaughter back to him.'' He turned to look at the large pile of gold that the Regal crew where sorting out into different sections. ''That and I'm sure this will help out with Valua.'' Jack paused for a moment and looked around. ''No where did those guys get to with them cannons?'' ~ Kimi rushed to the side of the ship and looked out over the side with a huge smile on her face. It was the first time she had been on such a large ship without it's crew attacking her. She finally started to feel like a true Blue Rouge as she closed her eyes and took a deep breath as the air went by her face. ''It's such a wonderful ship Raven!'' She called over to her captain. ''Glad you think so.'' Raven took one hand off the wheel and started to search over her clothing for something. ''Where is it?'' While Raven was looking for what it was she could not find Kimi dropped down to the first deck to properly introduce herself to Koi. ''Hi there!'' She stopped in front of the woman. ''I did not get a chance to introduce myself, names Kimi!'' She took a quick bow. ''I'm a Blue Rouge in training!'' Kimi then thought about what she said and thought she might have to explain a little more. ''I know what your probably thinking, yes Raven is a Black Pirate but also my sensei.'' The young girl tilted her head to one side with a smile. ''She isn't that bad so please don't let the colours she sails by confuse you.'' ''Kimi! Get up here or I'll have your guts for garters!!'' Raven suddenly shouted out across deck. ''Hehe....'' Kimi blushed at Koi before rushing off back to Raven. ~ ''Yes Raven?'' Kimi slowly approached Raven seeing that something was wrong. ''I don't have the location!'' The Black Pirate hit her fist against the ship's wheel. ''I showed it to that Viking and forgot to take it back!'' ''Ah...but I..'' Kimi started to talk but was quickly cut off by Raven. ''We have half a day to get there otherwise...'' Raven started to mutter to herself. ''But Captain!'' Kimi pulled out one of her books and held it open. Raven looked blank at the pages for a moment before a smile appeared on her face. ''What would I do without you Kimi.'' There on the pages Kimi had drawn out a copy of the location, along with notes on their time and how long they had to get there. ''You sure you want to be a Blue Rouge?'' Raven chuckled to herself. ''Yes! I'll never be a Black Pirate.'' Kimi shut the book and shook her head at Raven. ''It's not a black Pirate I was thinking off.'' Raven let go of the wheel and started to walk away. ''You would make a great navigator you know.'' ''The wheel!?'' Kimi quickly grabbed it. ''Take it, I'm going to check on the crew.'' Raven did not even turn around to check on Kimi, she knew her ship was in good hands. ~ ''You.'' Raven did not even look at Koi as she passed her on deck. ''We're going below deck, keep up.'' Raven pushed open the door to where Annie and her new crew where waiting. ''How are the cannons Annie?'' Raven looked out to see if they where already in place, not doubting for a second that Annie had not already got the crew into ship shape. ''They look terrified of you.'' Raven grinned at Annie. ''Right you lot! When we get back down here I want to see these cannons ready to fire!'' Raven snapped at her crew. ''Annie, Koi!'' The Black Pirate turned to face the two. ''Give me five minuets, then meet me in the cargo hold by the White Raven II.'' She turned to exit the room. ''We need to get that item ready for the drop off.'' (Surprise cameo post! Normal turn rotation is unaffected) Alone in his office, Archibald Gilvern sorted through several fresh documents and accounting books in the yellow light of his moonstone lamps. Regal Co's involvement with the pirates that had returned his granddaughter had been surprising profitable and as a side-effect had brought all the accounting paperwork to Archibald's desk. Thankfully though, Archibald wasn't Regal Co's Head Accountant for nothing and smiled as his delicate handwriting quickly wrote down number after number. As he continued to write Archibald though of his granddaughter's pirate 'friends,' they had just been reported to have met back with the Platform and were already making to take the hauled up ship out for its first flight. A frown hooked in the corner of Archibald's mouth, a pity Audrey hadn't returned from the Arc-Aid yet, she was going to miss them and who knew when, or if, they would ever return. Hmm... speaking of which, Audrey's check-up should have been done by now... what was keeping her? Archibald's hand stopped writing as he stared at his half-finished receipt in concerned thought. Outside in the hall, passing Regal Co employees mentioned missing cannons and crewmen. |

Despite their earlier misgivings the White Raven's newest crewmembers traversed the stairwell with their heavy burden with little difficulty. They were aided by the laws of gravity from below and Annie's violent rushing from behind. In fact the former Regal Co. employees were moving with such momentum when the reached the bottom of the stairs that it carried them all the way down the hallway and into the cannon chamber beyond. And then had come yet more grumbling from the Regal boys, accompanied by a loud chorus of threats and curses from Annie. Apparently they thought that their work was done once they reached the chamber, as if they had been running a race or something. But no sooner had they entered, carrying their heavy burdens, then their foul-mouthed overseer had demanded that the cannons be installed upon their mounts and locked into place. To make a long and redundant story short, Annie had coaxed the Regal boys into obeying her orders (under threat of death) and gotten the cannons mounted back in their brackets. And now she was letting her flunkies take a break while she explained the finer points of gunnery to them. ~ "Okay, now pay attention." Annie snarled. She glared around at the men seated on the floor around her and the powder keg she'd set down amidst them. "You measure out three cups full of powder and dump it into these little sacks. That way you'll have a charge ready to go when the $@#& hits the fan. You won't have to worry your pretty little heads about doin' this in the middle of a fire-fight." "Fire-fight?" One of the men gasped. Annie turned a withering glare upon him. "What? You thought these guns were just for show or somethin' Buck?" She growled. "This ain't the Love Boat sweetie. It's a pirate ship! Now clam up and pay attention! I'm tryin' to learn you lunkheads somethin' over here!" Now properly cowed into submission, Annie continued. "Just fill up as many of these little sacks as you can and then fold them like this." She demonstrated the proper way to seal the small bag. "Don't tie 'em closed though. You'll just end up fumblin' with the knot when you need to open it later." The Regal boys watched her intently. Whether or not they were committing her lessons to memory or just spacing out was anyone's guess. "Then just lay them in a pile next to each cannon. You got that you slap-heads?" Annie asked. Then, before anyone could answer, she proceeded. "Good! Now, let's stack some cannonballs!" "Great. More heavy lifting." One of the men sighed. ~ A short while later the task was done. Annie inspected the Regal boys' work and nodded. "You can do some pretty work when you want to." She awarded the men as she admired the neat, pyramid-shaped stacks of cannonballs that had been erected next to each cannon. "Well, we did stack cargo crates for a living." One of the men beamed proudly. "Of course we'd be able to....." "Then again, this ain't brain surgery." Annie cut him off. "So don't go thinkin' you're some kind of bright boy. You dip-$@#&s have still got a long way to go before I'll admit that you're worth a damn!" The men muttered angrily amongst themselves as their egos deflated from Annie's sharp words. "What? You chuckle-heads got somethin' to say? Well, spit it out! I can't hear ya!" She grumbled back at them, daring someone to argue with her. "Uh...." One of them spoke up. "Yeah?" Annie put her arms on her hips and stared him down. "Well, uh....someone's coming." The man answered, motioning towards the door. Annie's eyes suddenly went wide with shock. "Oh $@#&....HIDE!" She rasped in a loud whisper before ducking down behind one of the cannons. The men could only stand where they were, gaping at her in confusion. "Why are we hiding now?" One of them asked. "It's probably just the captain." Annie peeked out from behind the cannon and thought about what he'd said. She'd been so wrapped up in talking about the one subject in which she was knowledgeable an experienced (guns) that the rest of her addled brain had locked up and she'd forgotten where she was and what she was doing for a moment. "Oh. Well then, look lively!" Annie ordered in a sheepish tone as she stepped out from behind the cannon. "Whatever the hell that means." ~ ''How are the cannons Annie?'' Raven asked when she entered the room. All of the Regal men snapped to attention but Annie just stood there, looking at them funny. "They're mounted and ready to be armed." Annie reported. "Those retards swiped your cannons but left all the ammo and everything right where it was. Hahahaa! Can you believe that?" Raven turned her attention to her new crew. ''They look terrified of you.'' "What? I didn't do nothin'." Annie shrugged. Behind her the Regal boys shuffled their feet nervously. ''Right you lot! When we get back down here I want to see these cannons ready to fire!'' Raven barked out an order. Again, the Regal boys snapped to attention and saluted her. Then the Black Pirate issued orders to Annie and the new girl. "Annie, Koi! Give me five minuets, then meet me in the cargo hold by the White Raven II.'' Raven said as she turned to leave the room. ''We need to get that item ready for the drop off.'' Annie blanched at the request. "Oh no. Not that damn hammer...." She sighed, pressing the palm of her hand to her forehead. "Okay, yeah. Fine. Just give me a few minutes to show these nut-huggers how to load one of these bad boys and then I'll be right down." Once she was alone with her flunkies again Annie gathered them around one of the cannons to impart yet more of her wisdom upon them. "Alright, now dig the wax out of your ears and listen up!" She barked. "Cuz I ain't in the habit of repeatin' myself like a damn parrot!" The Regal boys did as they were told and gave Annie their undivided attention. "Now, to load one of these suckers, what you want to do first is...." |

''Time we set sail!'' The pirate captain declared after giving her a smile of approval. Koi relaxed some, satisfied with how the discussion had gone, as well as the impression she had formed of the black pirate. This would be an interesting experience, to be sure. Having little else to do at the moment, having not received any orders, she trailed after Raven as she headed to the ship's wheel. ''Right Captain!'' The energetic girl, Kimi, piped up as she rushed over. ''She has only just been raised, so try and make yourself at home.'' The ship's captain explained, turning her attention back to the wheel of her ship. Kimi gave Koi a smile and a wave, the former of which she returned before realizing that the young girl couldn't see her expression. Amused at the oversight, she returned the wave. It was good to see others in high spirits, far too many people she dealt with were dour and sour in demeanor and outlook. The girl rushed to the side of the ship as they set sail, and on a whim Koi turned her attention to the open skies. She had always liked the process of setting sail herself. There was something about it. On land, things were stable. Calm, in a sense, even when they were not. After awhile on voyages, one grew used to the feel of the open sky. In the moments of setting off though, of bringing up the anchor and heading out to whatever prospects there might be, was a feel she could never quite name. Adventure, she supposed, even when one had a solid plan and decided goals. It was one of the things she most appreciated in her travels, and she supposed it was something all true sailors valued. It didn't matter if they were fishermen or soldiers or pirates or merchants or whatever else. ''It's such a wonderful ship Raven!'' Kimi called out, breaking Koi's quiet contemplation. She turned her attention to Kimi, who dropped down shortly after to greet her. ''Hi there! I did not get a chance to introduce myself, names Kimi!'' Kimi took a moment to make a small bow, and Koi felt a small twang of nostalgia. ''I'm a Blue Rouge in training!'' The claim struck her as curious, raising an eyebrow under her mask. The girl seemed to pick up on the oddity swiftly and addressed it before she could ask. “'I know what your probably thinking, yes Raven is a Black Pirate but also my sensei. She isn't that bad so please don't let the colours she sails by confuse you.'' “A pleasure, Kimi! I am The Indomitable Koi!” She gave a laugh, introducing herself in return. “Though you may simply call me Koi if you find the full name troublesome. Worry not about your sensei, I am much versed in the people of the world and know far better than to judge based on the flag one chooses to sail under. Perhaps sometime I shall tell you of some particularly fearsome merchants I have had the displeasure to work with!” She gave another laugh. While she had worked with merchants mainly under the identity of Jin, she had on one or two occasions been able to work under them as a bodyguard. It had been an interesting experience, seeing the change in personality some underwent when faced with a competitor or an employee. Many of them were quite unpleasant indeed, as she had suggested, and thought themselves above all but royalty. She suspected some thought themselves above even that. ''Kimi! Get up here or I'll have your guts for garters!!'' The sudden shout drew their attention, causing Kimi to quickly depart. Koi considered following, but decided to stay put. If it was meant to be her business, she would have been called or would be called in a moment. Instead she simply let her gaze wander back to the open skies, enjoying the fair weather. Soon enough, Raven came back down and ordered her to follow. Without a word she trailed after her, entering the ships inner depths. ~ Koi raised an eyebrow at the scruffy looking bunch of men that stood with the feisty recruiter from before. She had to agree with Raven's summary, they seemed to be afraid of the disheveled gun-toting girl. Her musings were cut short as the black pirate gave them an order, Koi giving a sharp nod to show she understood. In the meantime, she supposed she had five minutes to become further acquainted with 'Annie'. "Oh no. Not that damn hammer.... Okay, yeah. Fine. Just give me a few minutes to show these nut-huggers how to load one of these bad boys and then I'll be right down." Annie stated, doing just that. "Alright, now dig the wax out of your ears and listen up!" She barked. "Cuz I ain't in the habit of repeatin' myself like a damn parrot!" Curious, Koi listened in. She had not much experience as a crew member aboard a ship in terms of operating the different aspects of it and so she found Annie's lecture, if somewhat hard to understand at parts thanks to her colorful and eccentric vocabulary, rather enlightening. Of course, she wasn't likely to need to load a cannon any time soon, but it never hurt to know a thing or two about things like that. She found herself chuckling once or twice, amused by Annie's demeanor and the browbeaten pirates reaction to it. If she ever found the pirate life didn't agree with her, Koi was rather certain the spirited girl could easily do well as a promoter or trainer. Force of personality was a key trait, and as far as Koi could tell, the girl had plenty of force and plenty of personality. |

The Ice Fang

''Yo ho yo ho a pirate's life for me!'' Kimi started to softly sing to herself as she turned the wheel of the White Raven. With the wind blowing the sides of her hair she occasionally looked over at the map she had stuck to the side of a guard rail. It was an almost perfect copy to the one that Raven had lost when she forgot to get it back from Osma before they left the Viking behind in the Dark Rift. So much was on her mind at that one time. She could not help but wonder if that man really was Osma or just a loyal crew member who had ended up becoming the last living member of a forgotten ship. Kimi reached for her pouch and pulled out a small cup cake that she spent no time at all in placing it in her mouth. Trying to crew it while not dropping it as she used both hands to keep control of the ship's direction. She knew her map could be off by a little but there was only to be one island in that area and not a very big one at that. In fact she took a guess that it was more or less a rock with next to nothing on it at all. It was in the Valuan air space and so not much grew on the smaller islands around there. Taking another look at her map she caught a glimpse of her scythe. She had been lucky to of not been with Raven and Annie as the two some how made it onto the Misery. As part of her job in looking after the White Raven II while Raven goes off on her 'adventures' she would spend a lot of time gathering information. Thanks to this she knew all to well of the legends surrounding the Misery and her captain. Looking back at her weapon one more time before focusing on where she was sailing she could not stop wondering if he would really let Raven and Annie off the hook or not. After all he was looking for a fight with Osma and seeing how he might not even be alive he could just turn around and take on Raven and Annie, if not all of them. ''Ah! I get it now!'' Kimi suddenly yelled out. She had just realised why they had taken on a new crew member, and a strong looking one at that. ~ Raven's hand slowly moved against the wooden wall of the cargo hold as she looked for the lights. With a click the Yellow Moon stones brought light to the large room. ''You have served me so well over these years.'' Raven walked over to where Kimi had landed the White Raven II. She placed her hand against it's golden hull and smiled. ''To think, your getting demoted to life boat.'' Raven then looked up around the cargo hold. Outlines created by the dust showed where all her gold over the years once stood. Having been moved just recently by the Regal co in compensation for retrieving her ship from deep sky. ''Not even all the gold in Arcadia could ever replace you.'' She spoke to herself as she walked over and put her hand against the damaged wall of the White Raven. ''If you can't bring back his memory, then nothing will.'' For a moment Raven stood in silence, thoughts of the past on her mind at how Maxwell had handed over this very ship to her. ''Ha....'' She muttered under her own breath. ''What kind of Black pirate get's like this?'' She turned around in a flash and pulled out her pistol, pointing it across the room. ''First I get Maxwell back! Then we hunt down the one who sank my ship!'' Raven spun her pistol around and placed it back in it's holder on her belt. Raising her right arm she placed her left hand against the bandage which covered her scar. ''Why did only I survive that day?'' She went silent once more as she tried to think back, yet it was all just a blur to her. ''Ha, and I'm trying to get someone to remember when even I can't?'' Just then she heard a noise at the door to the cargo hold, turning to see Annie and Koi had arrived. ''Alright you two, listen up!'' Raven matched over to them both and stopped just in front of them. ''Soon we will arrive at the drop of point.'' She turned her attention to Koi. ''Over on that ship's deck.'' Raven pointed to the White Raven II. ''Under that cloth is a hammer unlike any we have seen. Think you could carry it?'' Raven already knew how heavy the mighty hammer was, even Annie had a hard time pulling it along the ground. Koi might not be able to swing it but she sure looked like she could at least carry it for a while. ''Bring it up to the deck.'' She pointed upwards with her thumb. ''So Annie.'' The Black pirate then turned her attention to the gun crazed girl. ''Did the crew get the cannons ready?'' Raven folded her arms against her chest. ''I honestly can't see them letting us go.'' Raven shook her head at the thought of having to take on Cularmati after seeing how he toyed with Oshima. ''Either way I'm not leaving without Maxwell, or Wellwood...what ever he is calling himself I'll get my captain back!'' Suddenly a bell started to ring out. ''Annie, let's go!'' Raven said as she turned to see how Koi was doing. ''Let's get that on deck now!'' ~ ''Ah! there it is!'' Kimi looked straight on as a small island came into view. ''And no sign of the Misery! We are in time!'' The young girl reached over to her left and tugged on the small bell which hung near the wheel. |

With Raven gone the attention span of the Regal Boys was once again seized by Annie. "Oh for.....you losers act like you've never seen a woman before!" She yelled after noticing the way their gazes followed the curvaceous pirate's exit. "Now pick your jaws up off the floor and pay attention dammit!" Most of the former Regal Company employees fearfully did as they were told. But a few of them found their eyes being drawn to the garishly clad Koi who had remained behind to observe the cannon-loading demonstration. Annie felt her temper beginning to boil but then a thought forced its way to the forefront of her addled thoughts and brought it back down to a simmer. With a clever smile Annie directed everyone's attention to the female wrestler. "This here's.....uh....Masked....Fish-Lady!" Annie introduced their new crewmember awkwardly, having already forgotten her name. "The cap'n hired her on to beat some sense into you wimps if you don't straighten up and fly right! Don't believe me? Just look at those muscles!" In that moment the Regal Boys saw Koi in a new light. Whatever lecherous fantasies they'd been entertaining at the sight of her tight-fitting attire were being replaced by thoughts of harsh discipline and painful punishments being inflicted upon them by the masked Koi. Annie flashed Koi a knowing wink, hoping that she'd play along. But then it was back to business. "Alright kids, playtime is over! Break up that cluster-@#$& and watch closely!" As one every man present gave Annie their undivided attention. ~ Under Annie's watchful eye the Regal Boys practiced what they'd just learned and began loading one of the White Raven's cannons by themselves. "Yep, that's it. Just pour the powder down the barrel." Annie instructed. "Now you just....hey dumbass! That ain't no hanky!" She suddenly yelled when she saw one of the men wiping his forehead with a small square of white cloth. "That's wadding. Keeps the cannonball from rollin' out of the barrel while the ship's movin'." She reminded them all. Annie snatched the cloth away from the man and then laid it in the cannon's mouth. "Now you place the cannonball like so...." She continued, hefting one of the heavy iron balls with one hand. "....and cram the whole she-bang down the barrel." Annie concluded. One of the Regal Boys handed her a ram-rod and she used it to shove the cannonball down the cannon's neck and then packed it all down tight with a few follow-up thrusts. "In a firefight you won't have time to mess with waddin' so just skip that step when the shootin' starts." Annie concluded. "Now then...where are those...." Annie started looking around for something when one of the Regal Boys trotted over to her. "Miss Annie! Look what I found!" He said in a chipper voice, holding out a small wooden box for her to open. "It's a box of cigars! I know you smoke them so..." Annie's lips began twitching upward in a smile of pleasure but they twisted into a cynical smirk when she opened the box. "These ain't cigars ya chowder-head!" She berated the poor man, causing him to cringe in fear and disappointment. But Annie soon relented. "Them are cannon fuses. Was just lookin' for 'em too." She continued in a half-angry and half-pleased voice. Annie pulled a length of dusty gray rope about the length of her finger from the box and held it up for all to see. It did indeed resemble a cigar. "They're rolled in gun powder to make 'em burn quicker so don't let 'em get wet. And handle 'em carefully around an open flame. Got it?" She asked, eliciting a nod from each man. "Now, you just place one like so in each cannon." Annie shoved the fuse down into a narrow opening on top of the cannon's rear section. "Then just light that puppy up and watch the fireworks." One of the men helpfully lit his pocket lighter and made to do just that. "NOT NOW YOU RETARD!" Annie swatted the lighter out of his hand and raised a fist to slug him but managed through a Herculean effort to resist the violent impulse. "Alright....okay....now then." Annie gasped, calming herself. "Just...do all the other cannons like I showed ya. I gotta go see what the boss lady wants." The Regal Boys visibly relaxed when the hot-headed Annie turned to leave the room. The man who had nearly set off the cannon flinched when she walked past and then sighed with relief when she ignored him. He bent down to retrieve his lighter and then produced a cigarette from his shirt pocket. "Speaking of cigars, I think I need a smoke break after all that." The former Regal employee sighed. He placed the cigarette between his lips and flicked his lighter once again. But just as he was in the process of lighting up a wooden bucket came rocketing from the doorway, bashing him in the back of the head. The lighter flickered out and the cigarette fell from his lips when the man's hands flew instinctively upward to cradle his wounded noggin. "WHAT THE @#$& DID I JUST SAY?!" Annie's irate voice screamed from the hallway. ~ ''Alright you two, listen up!'' Raven began their meeting the moment she and Koi walked into the ship's hold. ''Soon we will arrive at the drop of point.'' Annie had been dreading this moment. She was certain she'd wind up playing the role of pack animal once again and have to lug Osma's hammer around for the rest of the day. But her dread became joy when that unwanted responsibility was foisted off on Koi. "Have fun with that Fish Cakes!" Annie cackled with glee. "And try not to drop it!" While Koi went to fetch Osma's hammer from the deck of the White Raven II Annie and Raven held their own private pow-wow. ''Did the crew get the cannons ready?'' The Black Pirate asked her. "I showed 'em the ropes but the best way to learn is to do it with your own hands." Annie answered, reciting a lesson her father had always tried to instill upon her. "They'll figure it out eventually. Just hope they don't burn up the ship in the process." ''I honestly can't see them letting us go.'' Raven added cryptically. Annie quirked an eyebrow at her. "Them who?" She asked, confused. But then it dawned on her who Raven was talking about. "Oh, you mean Cool Marty and his merry crew of slap-nuts? Yeah, he was spoilin' for a fight, no doubt. Guess we'll be his huckleberries since that hammer guy cherried out on us." Raven said something else after that but Annie didn't hear her. All that talk about nuts and berries had her hankering for something to snack on. The sound of the bell ringing up on deck snapped her out of her hunger-induced torpor though. ''Annie, let's go!'' Raven ordered before heading topside. "Right behind ya!" Annie called as she followed Raven up onto the deck. |

"This here's.....uh....Masked....Fish-Lady! The cap'n hired her on to beat some sense into you wimps if you don't straighten up and fly right! Don't believe me? Just look at those muscles!" Koi arched an eyebrow, hidden though it was under her mask, at the introduction. Annie did not have the best of memories, it seemed. She couldn't help but let a smirk form on her face as she pieced together what the rough girl was up to. It was rather clever, and Koi made a point of shifting ever so slightly to seem more imposing. Just a slight straightening of her back and raising her shoulders, a crossing of her arms across her chest and raising the tilt of her head. The effort was subtle, but the effects potent. The relaxed, inviting demeanor that she displayed normally had been replaced with a strict and guarded one. In a smooth tone, filled with a grand edge of finality, she added a single comment. “Such callow, faltering spirits as these will merely crumple beneath the unrelenting force that is the Indomitable Koi.” The reaction made her glad she'd decided to play along with Annie's clumsy improvisation. She did not normally play such an ominous role, but there were many who did and she was familiar enough with the attitude and mindset to do a passable mimicry. She held no true malice for the crewmen, but they did strike her as shifty-eyed and a little unpleasant in demeanor. A little fear and discipline could perhaps even be good for them. "Alright kids, playtime is over! Break up that cluster-@#$& and watch closely!" Annie interrupted, and she continued on with her instructions. Like before Koi listened and watched intently, though she did keep up her intimidating demeanor as she silently observed. A simple turn of the head allowed it to seem as though it was the crewmen who she was keeping in her sights, as if waiting for them to act out. ~ Of course, just because they were paying attention now didn't mean they weren't still rather slow-witted. Something that was made blatantly apparent when one mistook fuses for cigars, and while she could not say she would immediately know the difference herself... She wasn't a crewman who dealt with such things. A familiarity with the basic tools of the trade were to be expected, were they not? Even so, the man's flinch made her almost feel sorry for him. Though she continued to silently play her role, as there was no real harm done between that and Annie's rather direct and harsh approach. Better that the instructions be etched firmly into their minds than to have some mistake bring misfortune on them and the rest of the ship because they didn't remember something vital, after all. Once they showed more competency no doubt a measure of leniency and camaraderie would follow. "Now, you just place one like so in each cannon. Then just light that puppy up and watch the fireworks." Annie explained, and one of the men eagerly went to do so with a lighter pulled from his pocket. Koi tensed, but Annie acted swiftly and swatted the lighter away before he could light the cannon and possibly blow a hole in the side of the ship. The rough mannered girl took a moment to compose herself, taking a visible effort to do so. When she had, she instructed them to do as she had shown them with all the other cannons before departing. Koi was about to turn to follow suit herself, when one of the crewmen spoke and went to light a cigarette. Koi simply returned the stupidity with an incredulous look that was disguised almost entirely by her mask, not quite comprehending how dense the man had to be to do such a thing not five minutes after nearly blowing the ship up. Or at least damaging it rather badly. She didn't get a chance to admonish the man herself, as a wooden bucket hurled past her and slammed into the back of the foolhardy man's head, follow by a scream of irritation and annoyance from Annie. Koi gave a loud and boisterous laugh at that, shaking her head in amusement, and followed after the irate girl. ~ Raven didn't wait long once they arrived to start, launching into an explanation nearly the moment they stepped into the room. ''Over on that ship's deck, under that cloth is a hammer unlike any we have seen.'' The captain spoke to Koi, gesturing at the ship nearby and then up at the ceiling. ''Think you could carry it? Bring it up to the deck.'' Koi found herself curious as to what kind of hammer it could be to warrant such a description and request, but she had no doubt she could indeed accomplish the task. With a nod, she rotated her shoulders and neck in preparation for some heavy lifting as she strode over. “I am no stranger to lifting great weights, though not often in the form of a hammer.” Koi gave a confident reply, and an amused smile formed on her face at Annie's commentary. “Hah! I have lifted and dropped men and women far more imposing than some mere hammer.” The comment was not really even an exaggeration, as some of her fellow wrestlers were large and heavy people. The hammer might perhaps be heavy, but she was indeed no stranger to lifting weights either. Such was part of the training involved in being a wrestler, although it had often been the most difficult activity to keep secretive. A large metal weight was not exactly among the easiest of things to hide. She clambered aboard the smaller ship soon enough, and quickly made her way to the cloth. She reached to draw it away, pausing for a moment to wonder at what she would find. A strange hammer unlike any a black pirate captain had seen, someone who sailed the skies freely and no doubt saw much in their travels, was sure to be a rather curious thing indeed. Fingers snagging the cloth, she pulled it free with a self-indulgent dramatic flair, tossing it aside. She eyed the hammer that was revealed to her, and found she was not disappointed. It was not excessively strange by any means, but she could tell from sight alone that it was not merely a large hammer. She had at times dealt in such things, and though even weapons came in all manner of forms she had not spied one quite like this. Cracking her knuckles contemplatively, she bent her knees and gave the hammer an experimental tug. Her eyes widened slightly, surprised. The weapon lifted off the ground, it was not even the most heavy thing she had ever lifted; though it was certainly close. No, what surprised her was that it was a weapon. How on earth was one meant to swing something such as this? They would find themselves swiftly without strength at best and swiftly without arms at worst! Perhaps that was an exaggeration, but she could easily fathom dislocating a shoulder attempting to wield this hammer. Most unusual indeed... The sound of a loud bell and a shout from Raven called her attention back to the task at hand. Letting the hammer drop back to the ground, she wrapped her fingers around it in a proper grip and gave a few experimental tugs to ensure she had a good hold. In one slow, well practiced movement, she curled her arms up and straightened her legs, bringing the hammer up from the floor. As she stood straight, her arms curled towards her torso still. She took a moment to shift in place, getting a feel for the weight, before shifting the weapon into a less awkward position. She took a few small, bouncing steps, and a smile formed on her face. While she certainly could not wield this weapon in battle, carrying it would be fine. It would be somewhat tricky and require care, as she had not ever carried something such as this before, but it was doable. In a sense she found it an appealing challenge, and she made her way after Raven and Annie back up to the deck with a careful yet smooth grace. She made sure, on her way up as she passed the crewmen hard at work loading the cannons, to pause for the sake of her 'role' assigned to her by Annie. She held the hammer with a demeanor that seemed effortless and thus far more intimidating, and she stared at them for a moment before asking in a serious tone. “You boys working hard?” She didn't wait for a response, continuing on her way without another word. While she certainly wouldn't harm the crewmen as they seemed to fear, she didn't truly wish them any ill will after all, that didn't mean it wasn't a bit fun to play with them. ''Where?'' Raven demanded as she set foot onto the deck of her ship. She placed her hands on her hips as she stood there looking up towards Kimi on the upper deck, the small girl almost hidden behind the Ship's wheel. ''There Captain!'' Kimi let one hand go of the wheel as she pointed out left over the deck. Raven strolled over to the left side of the deck and rested her hands against the side rail as she took a look to where Kimi had pointed. Only a stones throw away from the White Raven II was a small island that looked deprived of life, a suitable spot to trade with one such as Cularmati. ''No mistaking it, that's the spot.'' Raven gave a look of disgust at the small island before turning her attention back to Annie and Koi. She took a moment to just look at the two girls from behind her mask. Raven had some what seen Annie fight first hand on the Misery but it was hard to keep watch seeing how she herself almost lost her head. While thinking it over she found her hand running her fingers across the spot that the blade was once touching. The very thought of having to fight that Samurai again was starting to settle in. Annie looked like she herself was ready to have another round but she too must be a little worried Raven thought. Then there was this new member, Koi. ''You can drop that.'' Raven nodded at the large hammer as she took a moment to look at her new recruit. Here was this woman who could lift Osma's hammer with little to no problem. That made her smile for a moment at the thought of Koi taking down most of the Misery's crew, well the lackeys anyway. But then realisation started to kick in as she turned to look back over her shoulder at the small island. ''It won't be like before you know.'' Raven spoke, sounding a little worried. ''He tested us last time, so where we good enough?'' It was a question best never answered as the results where both soul crushing. Raven knew that if Cularmati did not think they where worth his time he would feed them to his crew, and most likely the same two who had taken them on before. However if she was impressed with their fighting abilities then they would both have a shot at the captain himself. ''Why does he only challenge those stronger then himself?'' Raven muttered. As a Black Pirate herself it made no sense. She and many others would only attack those they knew they could beat and steal from. Yet here was a man who did not care for the weak and welcomed the strong to fight him. Slowly the White Raven two approached the island. ''Koi, I'll level with you now.'' Raven turned to face the Yafutoma woman. ''The deal we are about to make is that hammer, for our lives.'' She lowered her head a little as she spoke. ''The reason your here is to help with the fighting if things go sour.'' Raven then turned her head to look at Annie. ''Now there is a slim chance he will just take this stupid hammer and let us go, so I don't want to see a single shot from you.'' She placed her hands on her hips and looked away for a second before looking at Annie once more. ''However the second thing's do kick off...'' She just smiled at the gun crazed girl. ~ ''I'll show him, I'll show all of them!'' A few sparks shot out across the deck of the ship as the man sharpened his swords. The sun was slowly starting to set yet no matter what time of day it always felt like night to him. ''I'll use these very blades to end his life!'' The Samurai yelled. ''Is that wise Oshima?'' A calm voice came from behind some stacked wooden crates. Oshima stood to attention with both katana at the ready as the man stepped out. ''Oh it's just you Razar.'' Oshima put his swords away and relaxed a little. ''Your one to talk you know..'' He shot Razar a look. ''No comment.'' The Nasr sniper replied as he turned and walked away. ''We will be making the trade soon.'' ~ ''I have tried so many times, yet you still make me suffer.'' Cularmati muttered to himself as he looked over a file while sat at his desk. He placed it down as he looked over the large map of Arcadia which covered his whole desk. ''When will my time end?'' Just then the door bust open as one of the Misery's crew stormed in. ''Sir! We are almost at the island!'' The man yelled. Cularmati stood up from his chair and in one swift movement turned around while pulling his pistol from his belt. Then as the man had no sooner finished speaking was he gasping for air. Blood would not stop gushing from his neck where Cularmati had fired his shot. ''Let's try that again shall we?'' The black Pirate turned away and sat back down as the man fell to his knees before closing his eyes. His life had come to an end as he fell over, the door slowly closing behind him. A few moment's later there was a light knock at the door. ''Enter.'' Cularmati said in a firm voice. ''Sir?'' A second crew member slowly entered the room. ''We are coming up on the island now..'' He man tried his best to stop from shaking. ''Very good, prepare the life boat.'' Cularmati stood up and walked over to where his sword hung on the wall. ''At once sir..'' The man stepped over his fallen comrades body as he exited the room. ''Prepare the life boat!'' He then yelled across deck. ''Is it my time?'' Cularmati picked up his sword and held it up to the light. ~ ''Slowly....slowly....and......There we go! Perfect!'' Kimi yelled out as the White Raven came to a stop inches away from the island. She jumped up and down before firing the victory sign down at the others and giving a quick wink. She quickly calmed down from seeing Raven's bland reaction. ''When your done you can ready the crew.'' Raven shouted up to her. ''I want them ready for if the worst should happen.'' With that Raven signalled to Annie and Koi to follow her as she walked over to the side of the ship. Seeing how Koi had the hammer it was up to Raven to shift the gangplank. ''If you don't mind?'' Raven nodded over at Annie as if to ask for a hand while she pulled one side of the large plank of wood. Within moment's they where setting foot onto the small island. ''Well then, I guess over there.'' Raven pointed Koi towards the centre of the island. ''Place it there, then I think we should all wait here.'' Raven took a step backwards towards her ship. As Koi went to drop the weapon Raven turned to Annie. ''The moment he sees the White Raven Maxwell will get his memory back!'' She smiled to herself as she looked up at her ship. ''To think I'll have my Captain back in my life. And here I thought he was dead all these years.'' However just then all pleasant thoughts disapeared as Raven spotted a dark purple mist rising from below the clouds not too far from the island. ''It's time.'' She muttered to herself as a Black flag rose from the dark mist, followed by a large blade as the skull burst from below the clouds. |

Annie followed Raven up to the top deck at a more leisurely pace. While the Black Pirate seemed flustered by the news that they had arrived at their destination she was taking it a little more calmly. "So this is the calm before the storm?" Annie muttered to herself. "Best get ready to weather it then." Emerging onto the open deck Annie spotted Raven and Kimi at the rail and joined them there. ''No mistaking it, that's the spot.'' The pirate captain informed her crew. "Not much to look at is it?" Annie groused as she surveyed the stark landscape. "Not much cover either." She added in a quiet voice meant only for her to hear. Annie's mind didn't work like most peoples' did. In the face of the impending battle, one in which she stood only a slight chance of walking away from, the thought of death didn't really concern her. That was only one outcome to be considered. Total victory was another one. But Annie didn't waste much time worrying over what might or might not happen. Her thoughts were rooted in the here & now. And right here, right now things didn't look too rosy. The gears of Annie's thought process were turning slowly as her gaze swept across the island again. She tried to envision how things might play out and come up with a plan of attack based on that. But in a wide-open area like this, with no cover or vantage points, the situation didn't favor either a long-range sniper like Razar or a mid-range gun-hand like her. ''It won't be like before you know.'' Raven said to her over her shoulder. ''He tested us last time, so were we good enough?'' Annie shrugged her shoulders. "We survived. I reckon that means we passed well enough." Raven's words put Annie back an track with her previous train of thought. Things would indeed be different this time around. If Razar wanted a rematch, and Annie was certain that he did, the results of their next showdown would all boil down to one thing; luck. ''Why does he only challenge those stronger than himself?'' Raven asked. Annie could tell that her shipmate was rattled and decided to try and raise her spirits a little. "I guess because deep down what he really wants is a foot up his @$$! Can't say as I blame him." Annie chortled as she lit up one of her cigars and offered Raven a hit. "Yep, when you're as hardcore as us you just get tired of beatin' up on a bunch of milquetoast sissy-boys all the time and figure gettin' whooped yourself every once in a while is a nice change of pace." She wasn't sure whether or not Raven felt any better but Annie did manage to psyche herself up a little bit before the big fight. She hefted her machinegun and admired the weapon. Win or lose one thing was certain; Maniac Murdock's little girl was going to give as good as she got. ''Now there is a slim chance he will just take this stupid hammer and let us go, so I don't want to see a single shot from you.'' The Black Pirate warned her. She must have seen the sadistic smile that had begun to spread across Annie's lips. ''However the second thing's do kick off...'' Raven let that last bit hang in the air between them. Annie dropped her machinegun into a firing position. Her smile tightened into a feral snarl. "I'll drop 'em all like a sack of crap!" She vowed with as much bravado as she could muster. ~ Annie assisted Raven in lowering the gangplank and then followed her down to the island. Koi went out ahead of them to drop the hammer out in the open where Cularmati was sure to see it. But then the Black Pirate ordered her to return to wait near the ship. "Good thinkin'." Annie agreed with the decision. If things got dicey they'd need to haul @$$ in a big hurry. Raven was saying something about her former captain but as usual Annie wasn't listening. A sudden thought was intruding in her mind and putting a strong demand on her short attention span. She glanced back at the White Raven and sidled over to one of the gun-ports. "Hey nimrods! Open up!" Annie called up from below. A moment later and one of the hatches swung upward and one of the Regal Boys poked his head out. "What's going on? Do you need something?" He asked, gazing down at her. "Yeah. Look around and find me a flare gun." Annie demanded. "And all the flares you got." The former Regal employee nodded. "Oh, okay. I remember seeing something like that where I found the fuses. Be right back!" He stated before pulling his head back inside. Annie tapped her foot impatiently while he went to fetch what she'd asked for. It didn't take him long and a moment later the hatch opened back up and the flare gun and a box of flares came sailing out. "Is that what you wanted?" The Regal Boy's head reappeared in the opening. Annie bent down to retrieve the offering and then glared back up at him. "A little late to ask now isn't it?" She growled. "But yeah, this will do." Annie inspected the flare gun. It was a simple affair; a heavy brass barrel mounted on a wooden stock. She broke open its action and inserted one of the flares into it. The rest of them tumbled into one of her dress pockets. There were six in all; one in the chamber and five in reserve. "Anything else?" The Regal employee called back to her. Annie twirled the flare gun on her finger as she answered him. "Hell yes! I gots me a plan and you're gonna be in on it!" She explained. "I want one of you happy-jacks to keep an eye out for these flares. If you see one of 'em light up I want you to fire a cannonball straight at it. You got that Chuckles?" "Fire at the flares. Got it!" The Regal Boy nodded in understanding. His arm slid out of the hatch to offer her a clumsy salute before it, along with his head, popped back inside. Annie felt a lot more confident about their odds now that she had a decent plan of attack. It was a half-@$$ed one but it was better than nothing. "It's time." Raven said in a voice taut with anxiety as the Misery rose from the clouds below like a specter rising from its grave. "I'm ready." Annie answered with a serious tone. "Get your game faces on ladies. We got company." |
