Illyrian saw what Daioh was doing, sacrificing the wall to crush the machine, and nodded to himself. He was a smart one, that captain, and it would not do for his career to be destroyed for doing the right thing. If he still wanted his career afterward, that is. After the spectacular explosion and the destruction of the Gladiator, Illyrian paused. This had been a good day, a day of death and conflagration and war, and he took a moment to memorize these final moments; the wreckage of the arena and the human lives lost this day, the last of Deloco's reinforcements dead atop the rubble that buried the machine. He was glad that Alba had survived, and he spared a snigger for Bear's brief embarrassment; it would add a touch of humor to the tale, he decided. The Viking came over, his rugged face solemn. "I was not expecting this either," Illyrian replied honestly. "But then-" He broke off at the sound of stone and grating, turning with a frown to see what it was; at the sight of the Gladiator pulling itself out of the wreckage of the wall, he gaped in consternation. "By the Moons," he muttered as Deloco ranted pointlessly at them one more time, "he never shuts up, does he?" It became clear that Deloco meant to sacrifice the machine to take them all out; they had to run for it. Daioh could make it himself, but Alba looked tired and Illyrian doubted she had enough in her. 'Wevles!' he cried, creating a tight funnel of air that picked the girl up and carried her out of reach of the blast, toward the giant wooden doors of the exit. Once she was airborne he took to his own heels, catching up to and passing by Bear despite the pirate's slight head start. He was fast enough to duck behind a thick chunk of rubble, grabbing Alba by the wrist and holding her down safely as well while the world roared and the air raged around them from the force of the explosion. "That was a bigger explosion than mine," he muttered crossly. "Thrice-damned machines, thrice-damned Deloco..." Once everything calmed down, Illyrian stood up, nonchalantly dusting himself off. "Finally," he said, relief evident in his tone. Moments later they were all grouped about, and Illyrian shook Bear's hand. "I'm certain we shall, Bear of Glacia," he replied to the Viking's sentiments. "The skies aren't as big as people make them seem, after all." He shielded his eyes as a ship flew down, throwing a rope down for Bear to escape by; the sorcerer waved back as the pirates flew away, then looked back at the remaining resistors. "Captain Daioh, if you still wish to serve in the Armada my family can see to it that the events of this day do not mar your career," he offered. "None of the soldiers or guardsmen survived, so there is no one to say you were here anyway. If you would rather leave it all behind, though, we could help you escape Valua without leaving a trail." He glanced at Alba, and smirked. "You fought well, lady, but your magic was unfocused; I shall take you with me and teach you true power, power to make the Moons themselves tremble." He glanced around once more, at the empty ruin of the arena, and shook his head. "But we should leave, quickly, before more of them show," and he hurried for the exit, gesturing for the other two to follow him. "I know a shortcut out of here that leads to Upper Valua; we will not be seen. Hurry!" ((This was a lot of fun; can't wait for the next one! Was it a two-moonberry event, Bear, or just one?)) |

Daiohma watched on as the flames from Illyrian's attack cause the wall he had just moments ago froze come tumbling down on top of the gladiator, burying it in rubble. He jumped down to regroup with the others. He made it just in time to see Alba and Bear both looking a little red, it made him smile a little. Turning to Illyrian he gave a quick nod, it was not everyday he would witness a Valuan from upper Valua risking their live to save the people of lower Valua, let alone two of them as he smiled over at Alba. His smile only latest a second as the earth felt like it was shaking around them, the gladiator burst from it's grave. The mechanical creation was nothing more than a moving zombie. Deloco's voice could be heard over it's speakers, ''Come on, seriously!?'' Daiohma called out, he knew Deloco was never one to give up but now he was taking his loss a little too far. A flashing orb became visible from the moving wreckage, the orb was not unfamiliar to the captain. He had heard of such devises used by other fleets, mainly Deloco's own. They were indeed a means of great destruction at the cost of one's own machine. Knowing that the mechanical gladiator was about to burst into a fiery explosion he turned towards the huge wooden doors. To his surprise Bear was already almost half way there. There was no time to ponder how the big guy could move so fast he also dashed towards the doors. Only after a few steps it became obvious to him that his armor would only slow him down, ''Crystali'' he called out as he ran for it. Aiming his gauntlet at himself parts of his armor quick froze and shattered as he ran. Just as the sound of the explosion was heard he jumped forwards sliding on his chest plate. With the explosion over Daiohma pulled himself up to his feet. As he stood to look at where the gladiator once stood the last part of his shoulder shield fell of from his armor, as if his very armor itself had become bored with the way the Armada treats it's people. He stood and looked over the coliseum, the dead bodies was far too many for him to count alone. Was this the cost of having such a powerful Armada, had the people up top forgotten it is them below who they are to protect, and as these thoughts passed in his mine there was one more that he could not keep to himself, ''Deloco'' He called out, ''Have you never heard of moderation!?'' Moments later the group was together again, for what could possibly be the last time. Illyrian and Bear were saying their farewells, Daiohma did not reply right away to Bear, after all he was a Blue Rouge. If not for him and the other Blue Rogues then maybe this would of not happened, but the captain quickly put this to one side, Bear had risked his very life to save many people today. Even Daiohma was saved by this pirate. The Armada will probably never change, and Deloco would of used his creation on some other unlucky people. In a way Daiohma was glad that he could save who he could and show the Armada that they have forgotten what was important to Valua. A pirate ship caught his attention in the skies, he could see a blue flag but could not make it out. All he knew was it was most likely here to pick up Bear, and with that he turned to face the pirate. ''Thank you, for everything.'' He reached for a piece of his now brunt arm armor and pulled it off, dropping it to the ground. ''You have showed me more than you may realize.'' With that a rope drop down between the group, in a flash Bear was being pulled away, probably on to his next adventure. Daiohma turned to face the pirate as he was taken away into the distance and saluted. With Bear now gone Illyrain walked in front of Daiohma and offered his services to clear his name if he was to get out of this mess. On the other hand Illyrain also offered him away out of the Armada, out of Valua. This shocked Daiohma, he kept himself from looking shocked but he had never thought about leaving the armada. Doing so would be the best for him, however if he was to leave then who would fight for what is right? Who would show the Armada that the people of upper Valua and lower Valua should be treated the same. He was tempted to leave, but given his reasons, and his family he decided to stay..for now. ''Thank you for your offer, but I could not leave the people of Valua to this Armada. Someone in the ranks of the Armada has to stand up for what is right.'' Daiohma would allow Illyrain to make sure no one knew of his acts today, then he would go back to trying to change the was the Armada thinks about others. He stood to attention and salted to both the upper Valuans, ''Before today my opinion of upper Valua was little, thank you for correcting this.'' Illyrian then gestured for the captain and Alba to follow him, a shortcut to upper Valua was were he was taking them. As they made their way Daiohma took of his gauntlet and wrapped it up in cloth. It was only fitting that such a fast paced day would end at such a fevorous pitch. She had been ready to deflect another blade when the wall, and the floor that she had been standing on, gave way. It was clear to a part of her brain that this was to destroy the machine, however the rest of her was thinking something else entirely. It was something like this. "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" She screamed as she fell, the lance-rifle falling from her grasp to land in the pile of rubble around the same time that she would have landed if not for Bear's heroics. She just looked at him, a bit in shock after all that. She regained enough composure to say "Thank you," once she had been let down. She just kept quiet when everyone else congradulated each other. She has a feeling this wasn't over. And sure enough, it wasn't. Deloco's machine started to move and, after a rant, exploded. It was like she was rooted where she stood. Atleast, she was rooted where she stood until Illyrian had unleashed a whirlwind that carried her to the gates and promptly set her down on her feet, a bit dizzy but oherwise unharmed. Atleast until she was slammed into by Illyrian and dragged into cover before the machine exploded. "Ow..." She landed on a rock and, quite frankly, it hurt. It was one of those things that she noticed. It wasn't long until the blast passed though and she stood up, trying to get her bearings. She came alert just in time to wave good bie to Bear and to realize that she owed him quite a few favors... Maybe if Alihandro encountered him again... She looked at Illyrian before following, aparently heading towards Upper Valua. He had extended an 'offer' of apprenticeship to her. She would reject the offer though. She had enough killing. If she was going to stop the Armada, it would be by her own ways. As well as by preventing Deloco from creating more of this dismal machines. All she could do now was run, and hope no one else ever remembered this. I hope Alihandro is there when I return home... I hope... Edited by Raiu, Jun 13 2011, 12:21 AM.
