Name: Dresco Flammerge Other Names:Captain Sex:Male Age:35 Nationality:Valuan Occupation:Black Fleet Captain Family: His father, Drescai, now deceased, and his mother, Erica, still alive and living in the Valuan Capital. His parents marriage had been arranged, as was normal for Valuans of high standing. His mother was just a simple daughter of a noble house, being married off to a high ranking member of the Armada. Dresco’s father was known as an excellent tactician, coming up with some of the standard techniques used currently. His affluence gave Dresco an easy ticket into the Armada. Of course, Dresco had little choice in the matter, his father had instructed him for becoming a member of the Armada from an early age. As such, he didn’t have as strong a relationship with his mother as his father. She was smart, at least concerning the politics of the other noble families, and was instrumental in Dresco gaining favour among them. After his father’s death, Dresco grew a little closer to his mother, but mainly kept to himself on his leave of absence. His father was very important in Dresco’s maturing as he grew up. He instilled the values he lives by, and showed him how to strategize, even before he entered the Academy. His death was a blow to Dresco, his father had always supported him until that point and now he was gone. Dresco recovered after a while, but the pain never left him. After the destruction of Valua, Dresco did his best to support his mother, eventually finding himself in the Black Fleet. The Black Fleet at that point was only a small affair, and best kept secret. His mother never asked him where he had found employment, and Dresco has never told her. Appearance: He is a standard 6 feet, neither fat nor skinny, and tends to slouch a lot. He has red straight hair, which falls over his face. It reaches about halfway to his shoulders. He has piecing grey eyes, a small nose, and a clean shaven face. He wear’s A black shirt with red lining, and pants with the same design. A small cape adorns his left shoulder, and a large piece of cloth covers his right hip, concealing his sword. He wears his Rapier on his right hip, and his two pistols on each thigh. Personality: He has a very cool, calculating manner when in battle, and is much the same outside of it. He does not treat battles as a game as such, but rather prefers to distance himself so he can think rationally. He does this in all social situations, even with family. He prefers to take his time, thinking out his next words and actions. However, there are times when he has a lighter side, although these tend to happen in a very tight spot in battle. He is proud to be in the Black Fleet, and his ship, having a fierce loyalty to both. His father instilled these values as he was growing up, and he naturally transfers them to his ship and fleet. The Black Fleet represents the values his father taught him, especially concerning the Lord Admiral Glacian. This naturally attracted Dresco, making him a loyal captain of the Fleet. Skills: He is an excellent strategist and captain, as well as proficient with a sword, a decent shot, and an amateur writer. He isn’t much for writing letters, except a few to his mother and father, and some officials ones. Rather, his writing is focused on recounting his life in diary, and some dabbling in fiction. Weapons: He carries a Rapier of Red moonstone, and a dual action pistol. This means it is capable of shooting magic energy from the moonstone embedded in the handle, or fire bullets from the top loading magazine. However, the magazine only allows one bullet at a time. While some bullets are normal, some have spells placed within, allowing him to use magic he doesn’t know. It is based on the Magic Cannon design. Another important feature of his weaponry is the ability to merge the two, effectively creating a “gun blade.” This lessens his accuracy with the gun, however it grants him more power using the moonstone shot using the moonstone part of his sword. Another important feature is the ability to explode magic bullets, instead of on impact, a few feet beyond him. This proves useful with spells such as Wevli. A negative, however, is that the gun throws off the weight of the sword, and makes it harder to handle. However, Dresco is fairly used to this, so it does not pose much of a handicap. Other Items: He carries a diary. Moonstones: He uses the spells Increm and Pyri. History: Dresco was born to a higher class family, known for their military service. The genes seemed to mingle well, he showed an aptitude for tactics at an early age. His father was important for this, taching his son what he knew. Also, he showed a talent for writing, making up stories to complement his tactics. As he grew older, His talents increased, and were noticed by some of the high ups. Again his father was important for the recommendations he gave. At around the age of ten, he discovered the game Flotilla, and quickly became proficient at it. Entering into his teen years, he was forced into many conventions, banquets, and balls by his parents in order to make good connections. His mother was mostly behind this, trying to get her son into the right social circles for a noble born man. She also after him to find a girl to marry, but he never found one he liked. Thankfully, his parents were leaving the decision to him, and he decided to focus on his career. At the age of 18, He found himself in the Valuan Naval Academy. There, he showed promise as an excellent strategist, as was to be expected, but he also showed promise in using weaponry, most notably the rapier and pistol. After graduation, he was snapped up quickly has a Vice Captain. His father had pull some strings, and it resulted in his quick promotion fresh from the academy. He ended up under the command of Captain Tres. He was an elderly captain, only a few years away from retirement. He never really progressed far in the Armada, given only a small scout ship. Dresco liked the old man and his ship, even if he felt his abilities were being wasted. However, only a year after finding himself on Tres’s ship, his father died. He took a one year leave of absence, to sort out his life and to tend to his mother. He spent this year living at the house he had grew up in, wandering around the grounds, barely functioning. His mother again tried to get him involved with the noble politics, but he showed little interest. He returned to active duty, but he wasn’t the same man. He carried out his duties same as before, but he more quiet and withdrawn. It wasent until 5 years later, when Vigoro was promoted to Admiral and Dresco himself promoted to Captain, that he began to recover. He was given a Theodora class Gunboat, and added into Lord Admiral Glacian’s fleet. He served there with distinction, but wasn’t too terribly known for any acts beyond what missions he was assigned. However, in the middle of the Crystal Wars, he was given a new command, a Spectre class vessel. It was christened Rising Dawn. Sample RP Post: Dresco stood, looking at the papers in front of him as the Admiral once again went over the battle plan. It seemed simple enough, at least to Dresco’s mind. Maybe not to others, as the Admiral seemed aware. Dresco looked around the stadium, looking over the various captains. Some looked attentive, other sleepy, others were restless. I guess that was to be expected, on the eve of a major battle like this. Dresco considered himself pretty lucky having ended up in the Black Fleet. After the Crystal Wars, Dresco wasn’t entirely sure what to do. His nation had been crippled by the Rains, the Armada itself mostly destroyed by Vyse and his crew…Dresco wasn’t entirely sure what to do. However, he managed to join up with the remainder of the Valuan Armada. He knew his place was on the deck of a ship, and the Black Fleet promised his continued presence there. Finally, the meeting ended, and the conversations began. Dresco overheard snippets, most going over what the Admiral had said. Dresco really didn’t feel the need to chat, or try to reach the Admiral. He knew what he was doing anyway. He stretched a bit, navigated through the people until he found himself at the exit of the room. He looked back once, just to check his mind and see if he forgotten anything, then left, heading for the boat that would take him back to his ship. |
