Darion got ready for the ball, nervous and excited all at once. He was eager to see what Terai would wear, nervous because he had never been around so many nobles before. Terai and her brother he liked, but he certainly had no fondness for the lord she had defeated Darion's first day. How many of them would be like that pompous bastard, he wondered, for the hundredth time. He strapped his sword on, now wrapped in a black silken scabbard. Terai had insisted that him, and Gawyn wear whatever they wanted and she would pay for it. Darion had refused at once, but soon realized he didn't have anything to wear. So he accepted, spending hours trying to find just what he wanted. Darion finally settled on a pair of black boots, already broken in they felt like he had worn them for years. Black pants, with a gold stripe down each side. And a white pristine shirt, that Darion just knew would get filthy by the end of the evening. It was why he didn't wear white often, he was a magnet for stains, and a gold tunic with a white trim. His mask was gold colored, at least he prayed it was just colored gold. He wasn't certain how much it cost, though it couldn't be cheap; and he wished he hadn't listened to Gawyn. Darion realized he would just have to find some way to pay Robin, and Terai the money it cost. It was the right thing to do. Darion just wasn't to sure how at this point. Sighing he opened the door to his room, quickly darting back as he forgot his gift for Terai. It was the least he could do for her generosity, and it would look amazing on her. His mouth still tingled at the memory of kissing her, and the way she had kissed him back. Grinning he quickly made his way to the common room. Edited by Darion Natael, May 3, 2009, 4:42 pm.

Eshara Aravell turned around the corner and gazed up at the palace. Inside, she was astounded, outside, she was passive. But she had never ever seen a building so big before. Eshara turned her mind back to the letter she had recieved just a few days before. It had been sent by Neres.
And true to Neres' advice, she had brought her staff along, as well as her fire rod. But her fire rod she kept up her sleeve, hiding its burning red colour. It would not burn her or her clothes, for she was fireproof and so were her clothes. It was an advantage of having a talent with Fire. However, there was a faint red glow that was just visible if you looked closely, and if you knew what to look for. But otherwise, the rod was all but invisible. Her dress was pale red in colour, with varying shades of red, orange and yellow on it. Using her magic, she had induced an illusionary effect such that her dress seemed to be more lifelike, with dancing flames all over the dress. She smiled, looking down at the silk dress. Silk was a luxury that she only allowed herself on important occasions to impress. But it really was more comfortable on the skin. Holding her staff, which was burning with a slight red light, she stood and waited for her grandchildren and the Paladin named Galvin Eshara Aravell Wise of the Five Edited by Eshara Aravell, May 25, 2009, 2:02 am.

There was a rustle of grey silk as Neres trod down the path straight towards the palace, or more like, the orange-robed woman who was standing outside the palace as though waiting purposefully for someone or something, and carrying a staff in her hand. Neres herself had another staff, grey in this case, held tightly in her right hand, and a crystal ball on top. Visemi strode casually beside her, but the sword in a blue scabbard that was dangling beside Visemi looked oddly out of place. Neres and Visemi were an odd pair. Neres was wearing a silk gown with shades of grey that were ever changing in intensity and in hue, from palest white to night black and back to white, in swirls of colour. Visemi however, was wearing a light blue silk dress that had the winds embroidered across her chest and her back, and clouds were racing across the bottom with gold lightning flashing at the hems. As they approached the orange figure, the woman straightened and smiled, beaming at them. Focusing her gaze, Neres saw with practiced ease the almost indistinguishable red glow on the right arm. Gaze snapping back to Eshara, Neres smiled slightly. "I see you're early Eshara, and that you've brought the rod. Nenreo says she's got something for us. Now we've got to wait for Seren, Nenreo and Galvin." Eshara nodded. "I see that you think very highly of him, do you not?" Neres blushed and nodded, turning around, she scanned the streets among the nobles for any hint of taletale gold and black hair together. Neres Yoshan Healer of the Five |

Galvin was dreading this, he wasn't good at social gatherings in the first place. The gossip about him being at the palace with the knights had set the higher ups in the order and the temple into a mad rush to speak with him. Most simply wanted to make sure he had left a good impression, others wanted to make sure next time that he mention the temple to the Master of the sword. No doubt looking for a monetary donation rather than actual aid They had certainly dressed him for the part of a temple representative, he wore the ceremonial robes of Katim's priest, the white robe looked as if it had never been worn before. Around his neck was the necklace of golden flame with a sword hanging from its center. He still carried his sword, but the scabbard he wore was now intricately worked with the first code of their order in gold lettering. After a time he came to the front of the palace gates where he saw three women standing out front. It took him a moment to recognize the woman in the gray dress as Neres. The second woman was Visemi, standing with a sword and blue scabbard that seemed odd and yet not out of place on the woman. The third he wouldn't have been able to name for the life of him. "Greetings Miss Neres, Miss Visemi, I trust you are both well?" He had strode up with the same sort of false confidence that he had met them with that very night. Thankfully this time it wasn't all false, he knew a little bit about them and was grateful that they had indeed been able to make it safely to the Palace. Turning to the last woman he suddenly realized he had yet to introduce himself. "My humblest apologies miss, my name is Galvin Menethil. May I Inquire as to yours?" |

Eshara grinned wickedly at Neres, but her attention was immediately distracted by a man in a white robe. Her hands moved slowly towards the rod she had hidden just above her elbow. Neres spun round, and immediately relaxed. The man stopped right in front of them. "Greetings Miss Neres, Miss Visemi, I trust you are both well?" Then, turning around to her, his eyes widened, and he bowed. "My humblest apologies miss, my name is Galvin Menethil. May I Inquire as to yours?" Eshara smiled down at him, realizing who he must be. "My name is Eshara Aravell, and I am the grandmother of the women that you have just greeted." Looking at him directly, she said, "My granddaughter Neres wrote a letter to me and told me that you would be meeting them and I would have to come for the ball as well. Well, we seem to be waiting for both Seren and Nenreo. What happened to them?" she asked, directing the question to Neres and Visemi Visemi rolled her eyes, her hair stirring in a wind that was not blowing. "Nenreo and Seren? Well, the two of them got seperated from us, Nenreo said she forgot something, and they doubled back to the house." She shook her head, her dress fluttering. "They'd better be here soon." "Who'd better be here soon?" inquired Seren as he strode up to the little group along with Nenreo beside him. Nenreo was almost unrecognisable. She was a golden-hair beauty now, in a turquoise dress with green plants growing and fading all along it, and waves were crashing along the hems of the dress as she walked. Made of silk, it was. However, Seren was wearing a brown robe that showed mountains in a blue sky, and the mountains were snow-capped. It was made of wool and cotton. Standing in front of the whole group, Seren watched as Nenreo pulled open a package that she was holding very tightly, revealling a set of jewels hung together in a circlet. "I obtained this with my talent of Locating a few years back." she said, in a faint whisper. "Each of these jewels represents one of the elements that mages can use. Visemi, you take the Topaz, it will give you higher ability with Air." she said, handing over a bright yellow jewel. "Eshara, you take the garnet, it may help you with your unpredictable control over Fire. Neres, you take the diamond. It is supposed to increase ability with Spirit, but that makes it almost useless save that fact that it also has telepathic properties. Seren, the Jade is yours." She handed out the red-orange, colourless, and green jewels out respectively to each of them, keeping the chrysolite for herself. When Seren touched it, something touched his source of magic, and was gone. Looking at Nenreo, he raised an eyebrow. Nenreo nodded silently back. Turning to Galvin, Seren nodded to the palace. "Should we enter? Or should we wait?" Seren Yoshan Crafter of the Five |

Galvin noticed Seren and Nenreo coming as soon as they were mentioned, the two were well dressed but obviously had different tastes. Galvin saw that both seemed to represent an element of nature. Strange tastes indeed, but nothing that he need worry himself about. He heard a small whisper as Nenreo pulled something out of her pouch. He could neither see nor hear what they were all gathered around and decided not to involve himself with it. After all for all he knew it could simply be a family affair that he had no place in. "Should we enter? Or should we wait?" It was Seren who spoke up to him first, and he really didn't have an answer for him. The ball would start soon yes, but there was no real indication that the king had arrived. After thinking it over for a moment Galvin had made up his mind. "We should wait, at least for another hour or so. Give people time to come so we don't go looking for someone who wouldn't be there yet." |

This was a night that would not be forgotten. It was important in more ways than one and Terai knew that she would need to keep her cool, remain calm and focus. This Ball would not give her much room to breath but at least she would get the chance to dance and spend time with Darion. The thought of seeing him, talking with him.... Their hands touching, their eyes entranced with each other, she smiled brightly, her cheeks flushing at the mere thought of him. Thinking of him caused her to get ready as quickly as possible. Sarafina, one of her personal maids, assisted her in getting ready. She took a beautiful gown from her closet, the one made special for her by the shop keep to wear at the King’s Ball. It was a pale blue satin gown embroidered in beautiful white lace. With long white laced sleeves and an overlay of lace upon the skirt. Sarafina helped her pin back her hair so that her bangs were brushed off over her right eye and the rest hung in tight curls over her left shoulder. Terai clasped a diamond necklace designed with flowers and hanging pearls. Dusting her checks with a little blush and blue glitter around her eyes, she adorns a silver mask with blue feathers fashioned at the top. Terai slides into a pair of blue slippers before heading out the door and meeting Robin in the kitchen. He was already there, dressed and ready to go. A bright smile spread across her face as she overlooked his outfit for the evening. He wore a navy blue shirt, made of velvet, trimmed in gold ribbon. Over the shirt he wore a teal tunic embroidered with golden thread. His pants were black silk and there was a black belt with a silver clasp fashioned around his waist, a round sapphire within the center of the clasp. Lastly the outfit was finished off with brown leather boots, a plain navy mask and his hair tied back. She brushed away some lint from his shoulders. “You look incredibly handsome tonight brother. Mother would be shocked to see you so finely dressed and yet so very proud at the same time. I know you hate these sort of things but in case I forget to later, thank you for coming. Ai jhyli o shyraes.” (I love you brother) Standing on the tips of her toes, she kisses Robin gently upon the forehead then offers him out her arm. “Shall we?” Together the two of them entered into the Common Room where both Darion and Kinara waited. Robin handed her off to the arm of Darion while he took Kinara’s, who looked very displeased with being made to wear a dress let alone attend a formal function. A smile even brighter than the one she possessed when seeing Robin dressed appeared on her face as she looked over Darion’s outfit. He was handsomely dressed in a white silk shirt and gold satin tunic with black pants trimmed with a gold strip. His hair was pulled back and he wore a gold mask. Terai curtseyed to him before speaking. “Good Evening Master Natael. You look rather handsome tonight. In these clothes, you look just like a Prince. The look suits you.” There seemed to be something he was hiding behind his back and she attempted to see what it is as he kept her from taking it, both laughing as he teased her. Finally she gave up and he asked her to close her eyes and so she did. Terai felt what felt like a tiara be placed upon her head and when she opened her eyes she saw the reflection of the crown in the mirror. It was a gorgeous diamond tiara designed with flowers and leaves, nearly matching her necklace perfectly. Tossing her arms around his neck, she kissed him gently upon the cheek. “It’s beautiful, thank you.” The four of them climbed into the carriage waiting for them outside the front entrance. Her and Darion sat side by side as Robin and Kina sat across from them, neither looking pleased to be present. She smirked a little, they almost made a perfect couple, neither one wanted to be dressed up or looked excited to go dancing and socialize. It didn’t take long before they reached the palace and the quartet headed inside to the Grand Ball Room. It was a grand hall, one you entered by walking down two rounded staircases that eventually merged into one before descending down onto the marble floor. Each couple was introduced separately then each would walk down the separate staircases before meeting up at the conjoined platform. The staircase was covered in a golden velvet, the railings a deep cherry wood. The room was enormous, the walls were painted in magnificent golds, yellows and pale green. Large mirrors with beautifully crafted golden frames adorned only a few of the walls while magnificent windows and paintings filled in most of the space. Round tables surrounded the outer corners of the room, decorated in white linens, fine china, glass goblets and silverware. On the ceiling were two large stained glass windows in blue and green designs and hanging from between the molding upon the ceiling hung several large golden chandeliers, with crystals hanging between the candles. The marble floor was fashioned in circle and square designs etched in golden hues. Beautifully carved marble columns lined the outer edges of the stained glass windows, which matched those upon the ceiling. The rear wall was covered from floor to ceiling in large glass windows giving view to the massive palace gardens which were two arched glass doors at the center that led you onto the balcony leading into the gardens themselves. Terai was overwhelmed by the beauty of it all, as hers and Darion’s names were called, Terai began to descend the spiral staircase at the left. “Announcing Darion Natael of Anwyn escorting Lady Terai Kabala of Xenith.” Her eyes never left his as they came down the stairs. They were once again united at the center and made their way onto the dance floor where they began the first waltz of the evening. Though several couples spun around them, Terai felt as if they were the only two upon the floor, the stars twinkling all around them and her feet never touching the floor; or at least that is how she felt. He filled her soul with a feeling of completeness. She couldn’t breath unless he was always at her side. Terai never again wanted to be parted from his side. For here, in his arms, she was at home. ((Just a little side note to all. Though everyone is free and welcome to join this thread and do their own thing, there are certain plots that have been preplanned for this event. Unless you have been spoken to, there is no way for anyone knowing what is to go on and therefore can not stop it. There are those who have already been given tasks to do, if not one of those few, do not disrupt any events unless previously discussing the matter with Jenny. Also, I do not want additional large plots to be added into this thread. There is already a great deal that must transpire here and it will take time getting through that, any others are unwelcome. Assassination party, I shall be sending each of you a PM to make sure everyone is clear of what they are doing. Otherwise, have fun, dance, drink, eat, be gay and merry!! "If you say so," said Eshara with a shrug and a smile at Galvin. Her dress rippled in the wind that was now coursing through the streets and past them. The rod's warmth was still burning on her skin. "Do we have to obtain permission? I mean, we aren't exactly here for the Ball, but more to speak to the King. So, umm, yes, do we have to seek permission?" She asked, standing back to let a couple pass by. Beckoning her family and Galvin nearer to the wall so that they weren't blocking the path, Eshara looked questioningly at them. "Well," Neres said, her eyes distant, as though remembering something else, then looking straight at Galvin. "I think I remember Galvin, that you said that you had to discuss this with Robin Kabala, who is the Master of the Sword. Has your discussion with him come to any fruition yet?" she asked, her eyes looking at him in the eyes. Eshara was impressed now at how Neres held herself. She indeed had grown from the few days that Eshara had been away from the village. There was an aura about her that Eshara had not noticed before. Not of power, but of confidence, that would make her family look to her in times of stress and hardship. |

Seren retreated into the shadows so that his face was unobservable while he was able to observe everyone else's shadow. Seren observed the ongoing conversation as Eshara moved them aside, from blocking the road to the palace. His brown robe of cotton swirled. His gaze leaped from one to the next, observing their expressions and making note about it. He listened carefully to every amount of information provided and stored it in his head, whatever he could. Looking at Visemi, he could tell that she was doing the same thing. But unlike him, Visemi was much more adept at this sort of thing then he was. Her dress was also quite distracting at times. Blue with a golden flash of lightning and grey winds and clouds scurrying here and there caught his attention, sometimes when the interruption was most unwanted. Finally giving up, Seren stood back and relaxed, spreading his magic out through the ground, and his whole essence with it, relaxing peacefully. Seren Yoshan Crafter of the Five |

Darion stood staring at the splendor of the cottage. He remained still, only his hands showing his the nervousness he felt. He held a tiara behind his back; which had seemed a good idea at first, but now it felt rather foolish. She had money to buy anything she wanted... would she think his gift pathetic? His eyes danced among the few people in the common room; moving around quickly, as he waited for Terai. Finally she appeared, on Robin's arm, taking his breath away. She was clad in a perfect dress, shimmering a light blue. Her necklace a very expensive looking piece, that would match perfectly with his not so expensive tiara. Darion was glad he had made it now, certain she would love it. Every step she took seemed to last a lifetime, her dress swirling around her as if blown by a breeze. The sounds of the room, faded to nothingness, all his senses trained upon her. Finally she was near him, and the world sped up once more. He bowed in turn as she curtiesed his voice soft and elegant. "And a good evening to you Lady Terai. Thank you and you look absolutely gorgeous as always." Grinning he moved around as she tried to see his gift, their laughter causing a few people to turn their heads. Finally he decided to ask her to shut her eyes. "First you have to close your eyes." Smiling in pleasure, as she did, he placed the tiara gently upon her head. Moving a strand of hair out of the way, Darion finished adjusting it. "You can open them now." He sighed softly in pleasure as she kissed his cheek, his smile radiant as they climbed into a carriage. Darion glanced a few times at Robin, and the woman he was escorting, but his eyes were always drawn back to Terai. The ride was short seeming to be over before it had truly began. Then they were at the palace, having never been to one before Darion was unsure of what to expect. It was far grander than he had thought, the sight making him slightly nervous. He didn't fit into this place, and was worried somebody would recognize that. But no guards came, and he relaxed, smiling at his insecurity. As their names were called they descended the stairs, his eyes on hers, somehow their balance was perfect even though they never looked down. She completed him, made his whole; for the first time in his life. Darion decided that he never wanted to lose that feeling ever again. "Would you like a drink?" Eshara's smile was a small comfort in this sort of situation. Galvin wasn't used to these sort of diplomatic situations and any comfort from anyone was welcome. He moved over to the side with the rest of the family. "As far as I know we are free to enter, however as I said earlier I do not know if the king is here yet." He turned to Neres to address her, those eyes reflected a great deal of strength. Something that he hadn't noticed in her before when they had first met. "I was unable to meet with Lord Kabala before the ball, I left him a letter with the hopes that he was able to read it in time. I had my own duties to the temple to take care of, and Lord Kabala had a great deal to work with as well." |

Neres nodded as Galvin explained the situation, that he had not been able to speak to the Lord Kabala due to his duties and the Lord's work. "I was unable to meet with Lord Kabala before the ball, I left him a letter with the hopes that he was able to read it in time. I had my own duties to the temple to take care of, and Lord Kabala had a great deal to work with as well." he said, his stance saying that he was slightly uncomfortable. Neres smiled at him reassuringly. "I'm sure that you did all that you could Galvin. But perhaps we could enter first, I'm sure that we could enjoy ourselves as well as wait for the King there." Neres commented, staring at the palace as people drifted in one by one. Her dress was a swirling colour of grey and white, her stance relaxed, and her face thoughtful. "Perhaps we could glean something from the crowd as well." As a glittering carriage stopped in front of the first steps into the palace, Neres noticed that Nenreo's attention was distracted. She was looking at the carriage as four people stepped out of it and walked towards the palace. Eshara gasped, causing Neres' head to spin round and look at her. "Thats her, Terai Kabala, and her brother Robin. I recognise the other two. The man is Darion Natael, and the other I have seen before on the street. I think we should ask Robin whether we have permission to speak to the King." Neres Yoshan Healer of the Five |

Neres smile was comforting, it was nice to have someone smiling at him rather than the stern looks he got from his fellow paladins. She was right too, it wouldn't hurt to get in a little early and wait. After all this was a party for the people and it was meant to be a happy occasion, not a dire day that he saw it as. Suddenly a carriage pulled up and everyone stopped. Galvin turned to see what was going on and immediately recognized Robin, and thought for sure he recognized the woman who held his arm. Eshara's suggestion sounded like a better one that simply walking in and mingling. Taking a quick stride over he stopped a few paces away from the group and saluted lord Kabala. "It is an honor to see you again Lord Kabala. How have these past few days been for you." |

The dreaded night of the ball had arrived and despite Kinara's many, many, vibrant protests, she had been wrapped in silks and powered with shimmering things and sprayed with flowering perfumes until she thought she may sick up. Her long silver hair had been brushed until it gleamed like the precious metal it resembled and then mercilessly curled and piled and pinned atop her now aching head. The one highlight to the entire thing was that artfully placed among the curls were two stiletto blades about the width of her hand. Their handles were unfortunately bejeweled to make them appear nothing more than hair ornaments but practice had shown them to be light weight and well balanced in hand and easy to throw with deadly accuracy. The incredibly low bodice of her tight fitting gown left next to nothing to the imagination and certainly no place to hide another dagger. The full skirts were the worst of all, if there came a time when she must move quickly she would be forced to either trip her way around the abominations or simply rip them off completely. Kinara was personally set on the latter of the two options. Social propriety took a very distant second to doing her job as she had been instructed to do. At least she had the familiar feeling of the cool steel of her sais against her calves. She had been forbidden to wear the knee high boots she normally chose but she would not be dissuaded from finding an alternative method of strapping the weapons on. All in all she looked what she supposed would be considered beautiful to many of the men and women attending the ball and she couldn't be more upset by it. The night air was cool against her bare skin as they entered the palace and she felt naked more for the lack of her hood and mask than for the incredible amount of cleavage she had on display. She had been given very strict commands that she was to act every inch the lady tonight so as not to give away her true purpose at the ball. Forcing a smile Kinara took Robin's arm as a lady was supposed to do. She wanted to run as far away from this awful mess as fast as she could, but duty first. She took a deep breath and put on a more convincing smile. She even managed to flutter her eyelashes at Robin like a doe-eyed girl when a couple nearby pointed at them and began whispering behind their hands. She kept up her mask as the introductions began, convincing herself this had to be the worst of it. "Announcing Master of the Sword, Lord Robin Kabala of Xenith escorting Lady Kinara De'Nakashta of Kalimshere." Kinara was proud of the act that she put on. Even the people who knew her from the Guild would have believed her a flighty young lady, thrilled at the idea of a ball and dancing and ecstatic to be on the arm of Robin Kabala. Oh, she did give it to the man that he was attractive, a bit prettier than her usual choice in men, but attractive none the less and at least he was about as excited as she was about this whole "dressing up" business. Then the music began and Kinara just barely bit back a groan behind clenched teeth. She hoped it still looked like a smile. She let Robin put one hand on her waist and hers on his shoulder the two free appendages clasping each other like two men in an arm wrestling match at the tavern. "You owe me more than you are worth for this, Kabala!" Kinara muttered between her teeth after fluttering her eyelashes and giving a simpering smile to another couple twirling by. The first dance of the evening was by tradition some big to-do that Kinara did not understand but apparently must participate in. Dancing in and of itself was not particularly difficult. Her race had a natural grace and talent for things like dancing and singing and her many years of guild training had made her more agile by tenfold on top of that. Still, it was the social aspect of a ball that completely bypassed her way of thinking. She could not even indulge in a bottle or two of rum to take the edge off the evening! Besides the fact that a "lady" would not drink anything stronger than a spiced wine or champagne from the tiny fluted glasses being offered on silver trays, Kinara was acting as a very private body guard tonight and didn't wish to impair herself in anyway should the worse unfold. Finally the waltz was over and Kinara and Robin were allowed to leave the dance floor. She let out a breath sigh of relief immediately before Galvin Menethil, the stranger paladin from the other day, came up and greeted Robin quite properly. Kinara was beginning to really loathe propriety... She inclined her head slightly to the man. "Well met, Master Menethil, lovely party isn't it?" Her own mother would not have heard the lie in her voice. She was getting much better at this than she'd like to admit. |

There was something about attending the Ball tonight that made his skin crawl. He abhorred dressing up, being forced to mingle and socialize; all while acting the proper gentleman. Robin had grown more accustom to playing the Lord he was suppose to be but he found it extremely difficult to manage around huge crowds, especially other nobles. He sighed, Robin really hated the fact that she was going to be there.... Juliet, the love of his life and yet was unaware of his affection for her. He wasn’t sure if he could stand seeing her with her suitor. This night would require a few extra drinks. Yet he knew it would not be possible considering Juliet’s life was on the line. It would be best if he was sober which, for this night, was going to take a great deal of control. Not that he was a man that drank a lot but alcohol could numb a man’s heart if he drank enough of it. His outfit wasn’t as terrible as some he had been forced to wear. Robin headed down to the private kitchen. He had actually managed to beat his sister Terai down which rarely happened, especially for breakfast. Not being a morning person, he enjoyed sleeping in for as long as possible. He wondered if Kinara was ready yet. Robin had almost forgotten he was to accompany her to the Ball and act as her date. That was perhaps more frightening than actually attending the festivity. Kinara was certainly no one to be trifled with, she was a strong, spirited woman. Terai came floating down the stairs like an angel. She was wearing a pale blue satin gown embroidered in white lace. Her hair was pinned back in curls with a diamond necklace hanging around her neck. A silver mask with blue feathers adorned her face. “Yes I suppose mother would be proud but not nearly as proud as she would be of you. You look gorgeous Terai. And don’t worry so much about tonight. I know your going to make the right choice. Ai jhyli o sai moraes.” (I love you too sister) A small smile spread across his face as she kissed his forehead and offered him her arm. He took her arm in his and lead her out into the common room where Darion and Kinara waited. Terai made her way over to Darion. Robin glanced over at Kinara. He almost didn’t recognize the woman. She looked stunning! No breath taking gorgeous. The silver of her gown matched her platinum hair. He bowed to her with a smile. “I know that tonight’s Ball, being dressed up and socializing are not your thing but I have to say that you are absolutely stunning tonight and I shall do my best to make it less uncomfortable for you, if I can.” The four of them climbed into the carriage and were off to the Ball. Most would have been on pins and needles with excitement at this point but he felt more like vomiting or running for the hills. At least Kinara felt the same as he did about the whole business. If there was one positive thing to come from this night then it was that they could help each other. At least that way the whole evening might go a little more smoothly. He made a note of stepping in if ever she looked on the verge of socking someone in the nose or if she looked bored stiff. The Palace was elaborately decorated for the evenings festivities. Course he had attended other parties here but they had really out done themselves this time. Robin almost got lost in trying to look at it all that he nearly missed their announcement. “Announcing Master of the Sword, Lord Robin Kabala of Xenith escorting Lady Kinara De'Nakashta of Kalimshere.” He made his way down the stairs, meeting her halfway in the middle then continuing the remainder of the way with her on his arm. It felt strange to be escorting her, for even though she was attractive and exclusively talented, she wasn’t really his type. But he did get along with the woman which was more to be said of most people who knew her so he considered himself fortunate. There could almost be a friendship between the two if events continued to pair them together. She was a remarkable woman and he considered it an honor to be of assistance to her. “Announcing her Majesty, Princess Juliet Fitwalter of Xenith escorted by Lord William Delmar of Syra.” Robin turned around, looked up and there she was. There at the top of the stair stood the most beautiful woman in all the world. She had not only grown up since last they saw each other but she had become a woman. And what a dulcet beauty she had grown into! A rose upon the vine would feel envoy if she stood nearby. For no creature was fairer nor even comparably so to that of his Juliet. His heart raced as he gazed upon her. Forgetting to breath, forgetting to think, even forgetting to blink; Robin was in a trance. Her grace, charm and gentle spirit set her a glow. No star in the heavens could shine brighter! He nearly had forgotten his bow when she reached the bottom but she did not even glance at him. Then again he had grown up quite a lot since they last saw each other as well and he was adorning a mask and attire that she knew him to dislike. The first waltz was about to start, Robin led Kinara out upon the dance floor placing one hand carefully upon her waist and the other within hers. She gripped it like the two were about to arm wrestle and he was starting to wonder if this was such a good idea after all. And yet he couldn’t help but chuckle at her comment. “I am sure that I do Kinara. For I hate this as much as you do. We just have to make it through tonight.” He smiled politely at a couple dancing nearby. Wishing it was Juliet upon his arm this night was already turning into bigger baggage than he ever agreed upon. The dance was over and the pair quickly exited the dance floor. They would have to waltz together throughout the night but at least the first one was out of the way. Robin could have hugged Galvin for interrupting an awkward silence. At least he had one more person that he could be himself around. “And an honor to see you as well Galvin. I have faired well these few days. I had received your letter before arriving. These must be the members of the Yoshan family that you spoke of.” He extended a hand out to Seren first. He shook his hand before kissing each of the girls hands. After, he handed each of them an invitation. “I am Robin Kabala, Master of the Sword. These invitations give you all a pass to attend this Ball. Show them to the guards if you should need to leave the grounds and return or decide to take a stroll in the gardens. I have made arrangements for your family to meet with the King. He has agreed to listen to your concerns later this evening and extends his welcome as well as his best wishes to enjoy the party. If you should need anything or have any questions, I would be happy to be of service.” ((I would just like to note that yes, I do know that in the previous posts it implies their party approached him when they arrived but I thought it would just be easier to take care of their needs after he’d danced with Kina. Nobody has to change anything, just didn’t want to get caught in a conversation that would happen in the middle of everything else I needed to get him through.)) |

(OOC: Its fine Gabe.) Seren's mouth nearly quirked upwards at the masked signs of relief on Robin Kabala's face as Galvin approached them after the dance. It was clear to him that Robin simply did not like to be dressed up so nicely in this formal affair. However, Seren kept his view to himself. He knew that much about being polite. Looking over his companion up and down, he noticed that there seemed to be a naturality of grace about her demeanour despite her obvious uncomfortablity. Turning to Robin, who shook his hand firmly, he smiled and bowed at him, a commoner to a prominent noble in Evorian society. Lord Kabala then went over to kiss the young women in his family, and they curtsied in reply. But in essence, he was the only young man in the family. There were no others. However, he refused to dwell on that, instead turning his mind to more important matters, like the passes that was being given out to him, with an introduction. If you should need anything or have any questions, I would be happy to be of service.” Seren bowed deeply, as Eshara and the rest curtsied. "It is our honor, Lord Kabala. We wish you a good evening of recreation." Seren Yoshan Crafter of the Five |

Galvin recognized the woman as soon as she spoke, but he couldn't believe that she would be here. He had eaten once with Miss Kinara and had gotten the impression that she was not one for these sort of gatherings. Her dress was not out of place in this yet it was not something that he had expected of her. What's more he found himself unconsciously straightening his robes, he forced himself to calm down. He was here on official business, not to gawk at a pretty lady. "Miss Kinara, I had not thought you one for an event such as this. Though you do look lovely this evening." He couldn't believe how badly he was losing himself here, he was nervous but he couldn't do anything about it. It had to be why the temple wanted him here, yes. It was going to be asking for donations that he dreaded most. "I'm glad you received my letter, I truly don't understand the whole thing myself. It appears as though the forces of darkness are working against everything we do." Galvin turned to Robin when he was done handing out the invitations. He had heard that Robin had received the letter but he hadn't heard much beyond that. Well if he was here then perhaps he could do something that would at least look like he was trying to serve the temple. "I'm sorry to say my friend, the only reason that the temple allows me here is to ask for money. They believe we will find very wealthy donors, however if there is something that you require of me that wouldn't require diplomacy I beg you tell me now so I don't have to make a fool of myself." Galvin didn't understand the point of asking for money, the temple had always survived on its own in his native Teras. Of course Evora was different in many ways, he still wasn't quite used to the whole idea of politics driving war. Yet even here it was quite obvious who were the more and who were the less powerful. |

Kinara smiled genuinely at the paladin's reaction to her torturous garb. At least it was garnering the proper attention. She cocked her head to one side like an inquisitive bird at his question. "What would make you say that? A woman has many facets, remember that." She grinned and winked. It was difficult not to inject her usual string of curses into general conversation. Still, she played her part and bowed her head gracefully at his compliment. He did seem genuine in it and if the way he kept twitching his robes about was any indicator he was just a tad flustered. Oddly enough, Kinara actually enjoyed the attention. She took a deep breath to emphasize the low cut of her bodice and chortled inwardly. Not too far away she could see the princess, Juliet on the arm of her escort. For the briefest of moments they met eyes and Juliet acknowledged Kinara with the slightest of nods. She knew the arrangement. Kinara listened to the conversation that was being carried on between Menethil and Kabala with half an ear while pretending to look around the ballroom with wonder. What she was really doing was looking for any signs of danger, anything out of the ordinary. She noted every way in and out of the ballroom and the fastest routes to any one of them. She made a quick but thorough inventory of each person attending the festivities and all the servants as well. As one more for instance she also decided what she could or could not possibly use as a weapon or defense. It never hurt to be prepared. Galvin's last sentence made her turn to smile at him once more. "Never could a fool be made of you, never that." |

Robin smiled down at her, she was far lovelier than he had realized before. He was surprised at how comfortable he felt around her, where most woman made him nervous, she made him feel like competing... To play a more convincing role than she could. Robin liked that about her. Perhaps this night wouldn't be so bad after all, even with Juliet there. Outwardly they probably portrayed the perfect couple, content to mingle with other guests and share a dance or two. On the inside though, Robin felt more like a stiff drink and a game of poker. It was easier to endure knowing Galvin was there, the more people he knew the better. After all, Juliet's life was at risk and the less people Robin had to consider as threats was easier on his nerves which he kept well hidden behind a calm facade. "Yes, it is troubling indeed. This world seems to fall deeper and deeper into shadow with each passing day. One can only hope that the light shall soon shine across the lands once more." He couldn't help but chuckle at Galvin's comment about him occupying himself with something more important than asking for charity. Robin certainly couldn't blame the man for not wanting to spend his evening in search of donations. He placed an arm around his shoulder with a smile. "Then I say to you, my friend, that I would love to make a large donation to your order and offer a large empty, in terrific shape, manor to serve as a temple on the conditions that you enjoy the evening and rescue me from any unwanted situations I may fall prey to. Do we have a deal?" He nodded to lords and ladies as they passed by, refusing drinks but occasionally munching on hors d'oeuvres. Kinara was playing an almost too convincing role of a proper lady that he wondered if she secretly took etiquette at school. He nearly laughed at the thought convinced that wasn't the case but was still rather impressed with her performance. Robin leaned over and whispered in her ear, to others it appeared as if he was whispering sweet nothings to her, 'You are doing brilliantly tonight Kinara. Remind me to buy you a few rounds when this is over.' |

(OOC: Would there be any children around? If not, I'll modify accordingly.) After she had been greeted and handed the passes by Lord Kabala, the six of them had drifted apart. Galvin had remained with Robin, while the five of them went their seperate ways around the party. Of course, they remained in each other's eyesight, ready to come to each other's aid if there was need. Of course, there shouldn't be theoretically, but they had gotten into the habit of looking out for one another since the event 15 years ago. Eshara was now entertaining several young children with tales from her childhood, and the children were laughing merrily she handed out some of the treats that she had taken from the waiters that were moving around the floor like dancers. As many people as there were, the room was incredibly large. Her house would have fit into a single corner of this room. There was still quite a bit of space for each and every person to dance or walk and talk. "And so, he was left stuck up the ceiling for the rest of the day, until one of his friends took pity on him and let him off the hook, literally." she said, grinning, as the children roared with laughter. Looking up, she caught Neres' eye, winked, smiled and turned her attention back to the children. "Would you like to see something?" she asked them, drawing out her rod, and considering it. "Yes yes please!" they clamoured. With a swish and flick, a thin rope of fire appeared. Frowning with concentration, she pointed it to just above her, and the thin ropes converged on top, to gradually form a phoenix, which flew around them all, sparks trailing it. With a wave of the wand, the fire was extinguished. "More, more!" they cheered. Smiling, for how could I refuse such charming children, she thought, she started to display some flame objects, like balls, angels, birds, bats, minature animals, and so on, while they clapped and whistled in admiration. (OOC: Decided to leave some opening for other people to join in.) After she had been greeted and handed the passes by Lord Kabala, the six of them had drifted apart. Neres wandered around, unsure of what to do next, walking aimlessly through the floor, weaving around dancers and taking sips of the cocktail that she had taken from one of the waiters. As it went down her body, she immediately healed away the aftereffects of drinking too much cocktail, namely becoming drunk and vomiting. But she was on only her first drink, and thus it wasn't really necessary, but she prefered to do it first anyway rather than become too drunk to do so effectively and safely. Neres noticed that Nenreo had, unsurprisingly, snagged herself a partner and was now dancing vigourously on the dance floor to a new faster tune that involved much swaying and twirling. Hiding a small smile, she looked away, and found herself facing Eshara, who was now entertaining children who were at the party with her magic. Smothering away her concern at Eshara performing magic, Neres decided to walk outside for a while. Remembering what Lord Kabala had said about showing passes to the guards, she waved her pass at the man standing at the entrance, who nodded and stood aside to let her walk in the beautiful gardens outside the ball, and away from all the hustle and noise into the silent music of the night and the moon. It was quiet and still outside and Neres was reminded of the time that she had been attacked outside of her own home. But she wouldn't be attacked so near the palace, and inside the city. It was very unlikely that the state of things had detoriated to such an extent. Then, a nearby figure stood up, and there was a shimmer of light as flame appeared in the air. Instinctively Neres ducked to one side. But when she looked again, she felt foolish, for it was only Visemi. Visemi nodded to her, pretending not to see what Neres had done, giving her time to compose herself out in the edges of illumination. "Its a nice night, is it not, Neres?" "What would make you say that? A woman has many facets, remember that." Galvin felt himself going red in the cheeks again with her comment. He couldn't let himself be put off by this, he had a real assignment here. Besides that she's here with Lord Kabala, even if you could dance there would be no point in asking. He had to compose himself, Robin was a good friend but he had known people who had killed each other over far less than a pretty woman. Gods bless her she wasn't making the task any easier. The deep breath revealed more of her bosom, which in her current dress left very little to the imagination. Pushing her out of his mind as best he could Galvin turned back to the man he had come to speak too. "Darkness pushes ever further into everyone's lands these days, but with warriors such as yourself leading the triad I am sure someday peace will reign again." Kinara's statement made him even more nervous. Well at least she doesn't see me as a fool yet. "Thank you miss Kinara, the support of two friends means more than you know." He could see his friends mirth even as the chuckle left his lips. Robin knew that Galvin was a soldier, and not accustomed to this sort of situation. At the mention of his friends offer Galvin could only gape. The offer was far more than he had been expecting even from a man such as this. "Such an offer is far more than I would of expected from even our own temple masters families. You have my deepest thanks, but what of your family? Surely you must consult them before making such an offer?" Galvin knew little of the mans family, but since he was here he might as well try to find something out. Besides it offered him an excuse to stay near Kinara. More and more he found his eyes drifting over to her own beautiful violet eyes and hoping to hear her melodic voice. Get it out of your head man! She's not here alone so there's nothing you can do! |

Seren smiled as the dance finished. At the appropriate moment, he tapped the man that Nenreo was dancing with, and with a bow to Nenreo, he asked, "May I have the honour, cousin?" Nenreo nodded, smiling beautifically at him as they whirled to the next dance, a fast dance that involved much spinning and footwork. Nenreo moved with a grace and stamina that Seren had not noticed before, and grinned down at her, pleased to have her rival something of which he could do. They moved gracefully around the ball room to the dance, feet moving as fast and as lightly as a feather swept by the wind. Seren and Nenreo danced around swirling partners, past Eshara, who was entertaining children with fire, and whizzed past Neres, who was walking out of the ballroom, and who looked startled to see them miss her so narrowly. Nenreo grinned fiendishly at Neres, whilst Seren covered his own smile with a free hand. They then resumed the dance with vigour and energy they possessed in the early youth of their lives. Seren himself was quite happy with the way his life was going, what with his smithing earning the family a sustainable income and with it being what he loved, he was satisfied. Seren took a goblet of drink when the dance finish, fruit punch, for cocktail contained wine, which meddled disastrously with his magic. When he became too drunk, he might accidentally misshape metal, which could bring disaster on all around him. However, Seren was content to dance with Nenreo for the rest of the ball. A swirl of colors whirled about the tall golden windows filling the Ball Room in a dazzling display of the bright colors in an iridescent rainbow. The whole of Xenith seemed to be in attendance for this grand occasion, all dressed in their finest and enjoying a night of dancing, music and socializing with other guests. Her eyes were constantly on him. He filled her with such hope and joy that it didn’t matter who else was around them, for Terai it was just the two of them, in her mind that was the way it should be. “I would love a drink.” She waited patiently as Darion fetched some drinks from a server, watching the dancers swirl about the floor with a wide smile upon her lips. It was such a romantic evening, even the stars shined brighter through the glass or at least Terai believed they were. Darion returned quickly, he handed her one of the crystal goblets filled with yellow wine. A warm smile washed over her face as she took it from him, her fingers brushing against his as she did. Terai swore sparks flew whenever they touched. Her eyes met his grayish blue orbs and her breath caught for a moment. “Thank you Master Natael.” The song currently being played by the small orchestra ended and her eyes caught hold of her brother and Kinara exiting the dance floor and taking up a conversation with a man she was certain must be Galvin. Robin had mentioned the paladin to her and how the two had become quick friends. There was a great amount of joy she felt knowing her brother had another soul to confide in, to trust and befriend. It was a pleasant feeling. Robin was a huge part of her life, the two were incredibly close and she always felt that he was a bit lonely since his return from the Shadow Lands. Returning her attention to Darion, Terai drank down her wine rather quickly, handing her glass off to a servant. With a smile, she placed her hand into his. “Would you dance with me Master Natael?” |

Darion's world had turned on its side, the pieces of his life falling apart. Though, unlike many other life changing events, this was good... no wonderful! And Darion reveled in it. He knew it couldn't last, but while it did, he would immerse himself in these strange events. Making his way to the drinks, he glanced in wonderment at the people here. Though his glances, lasted mere seconds, his eyes darting back to Terai. As he returned with the drinks, his fingers brushing hers for an instant a tingling arouse along his hand. "I wasn't sure what to get, they assured me this was very good, though. He quickly took a drink, lest his excitement shine to brightly. Darion followed her gaze, looking for his wayward brother. Hopefully Gawyn could behave for the evening, he thought in wry amusement. Then his attention was back to Terai, as she asked him to dance. A smile lit of his face, his eyes memorizing her face... for the hundredth time. "I would love to, but only if you stop calling me Master Natael." Grinning at her he took her hand leading her to the dance floor. The tingling didn't' stop in fact it only increased as he held her hand. Edited by Darion Natael, August 27, 2009, 9:07 pm.

Soft gentle eyes met his as he commented on their drinks, he was so handsome and incredibly shy, Terai felt that not even paradise could be sweeter than the way Darion made her feel. It was as if all the stars in heaven aligned to bring their souls together. Her hand brushed against his cheek. “This happens to be my favorite wine Master Natael. Therefore your choice was an excellent one.” The evening would be one she would enjoy every minute of, for with him by her side there never seemed to be a dull moment or any emptiness in her heart. His presence seemed to fill a void that, until meeting him, Terai was unaware of having. Darion’s hand felt right within hers, just as his lips had out in the bath house. She laughed softly. “Very well, Darion it is. On the condition that tomorrow you allow me to finish our tour of the Cottage. I did so enjoy showing you the grounds.” They ascended the dance floor, his hand gently took hold of her waist as the other remained locked within hers. Her eyes sparkled as the music started and off they went, swirling and spinning about the floor more gracefully then she had expected of a farm boy. Terai’s heart raced as his eyes never left hers, she felt that at any moment he would kiss her, he was so close. His warmth was inviting, she never wanted to know another’s. Terai rested her head upon his shoulders, her golden curls resting upon her back as they continued to move across the floor as if dancing on air. “I have never felt such wonder before in my life. You have stolen me away to an enchanted world Darion, I pray to never return from it.” |

His smile deepened as she told him it was her favorite wine. This evening was like something out of a dream, though her hand against his assured him it was very real. Upon hearing her condition, he smiled bowing slightly. "It would be an honor, to finish the tour... it was so very beautiful." Darion wasn't quite sure if he was talking about Terai, or the Cottage, though it was true of both. Finding himself on he dance floor, he gently put his other hand around her waist, bringing her close to him. For the first time ever he was glad his mother forced him to learn how to dance. he music though, he had not heard this particular song, was a familiar melody. Staring into her eyes the room once again faded away, only the two of them existed, this place and this time theirs alone. Feeling her head on his shoulder, was thrilling, though not half as thrilling as the words she was saying. It was as if she were pulling the words from his brain. "No it is you who have stolen me, showing me something I feared to never see. And now I can not go back to the drab world before there was you." He turned her head; gently his lips brushing hers, gently, intently, lovingly. |

She felt her cheeks turn three shades of red at his words, the world had indeed been a drab existence before Darion came along and Terai refused to return to it. This was the world she wanted to live in, to embrace and make her own. The world that he had given her, had shown her. Darion took her chin and lifted it from his shoulders, she watched as he leaned closer, his lips meeting hers in a kiss that surpassed the first. Words could not describe the tingling sensation that shot through her, she could only describe it as electricity. Their lips parted and her only response was to bite hers, to savor the taste of him. “O cali sajael tia shaer eirdae.” (You have taken my breath away.) Before another word could be spoken, one of the Lords attending the Ball tapped Darion on the shoulder. Terai stopped dancing, she had forgotten that she was suppose to give time to all the gentlemen who sought her for their consort. She smiled politely at him, removing her hands from Darion. “Come for a dance Lord Desarious? I would gladly oblige but I just recalled promising a song for the Masquerade this evening. If you gentlemen would kindly excuse me.” She had not wanted to leave Darion’s side but it was her only excuse to not have to dance with someone else. Perhaps after her song, she and Darion could slip into the crowd without further interruption. Perhaps they could go into the Gardens, the night was warm and calm after all, a perfect night for star gazing. Terai approached the orchestra, informing them of the song she would sing and gave them ample time to switch their sheet music. The room quieted down as she took the center floor and began to let her voice dance through the scale as she sang. “There's a song that's inside of my soul. It's the one that I've tried to write over and over again I'm awake in the infinite cold. But you sing to me over and over and over again. So, I lay my head back down. And I lift my hands and pray To be only yours, I pray, to be only yours I know now you're my only hope. Sing to me the song of the stars. Of your galaxy dancing and laughing and laughing again. When it feels like my dreams are so far Sing to me of the plans that you have for me over again. So I lay my head back down. And I lift my hands and pray To be only yours, I pray, to be only yours I know now, you're my only hope. I give you my destiny. I'm giving you all of me. I want your symphony, singing in all that I am At the top of my lungs, I'm giving it back. So I lay my head back down. And I lift my hands and pray To be only yours, I pray, to be only yours I pray, to be only yours I know now you're my only hope. hmmmmm, hmmmmm, oooooh.” ((Song: Only Hope by Mandy Moore)) Edited by Terai Kabala, August 27, 2009, 10:34 pm.

Darion watched her carefully, looking for any sign of reluctance... but he found none. She truly wanted him. It was a strange thought, that something so beautiful could want him. Then his thoughts disappeared as their lips met. Emotions and thoughts scattered on the outside of the bubble they had created. The only thing in the world was them, there was no him and her, but instead a joining of the two of them. Where one ended and the other began was impossible to tell. They broke apart still close to each other, his eyes tracing her lips, his tongue savoring the taste of her lips. A tap on his shoulder broke the magic that seemed to swell around them. Darion had truly forgot anyone else was here. He smiled sadly at her, the room seeming to dim slightly as the thought of her dancing with another. Though apparently she too had other ideas, and was leaving to sing. It made Darion smile, the smile turning to a grin as the noble looked on in annoyance. Quickly his grin turned to one of pure warmth as she began singing. It felt as if she was singing to him, and him alone, and Darion watched in rapt attention. A sigh escaping his lips, as she finished. Slowly he made his way, to where she was, having absolutely no intention of sharing her with anyone else. |

"Announcing the Lady Tygar of Coai'Orod!" Eyes turned in her direction, and she felt a small tingle go down her spine as more than one noble raised an eyebrow at her elfin ears. Her sky blue dress and shoes emphasized the color of her eyes, and though most of her hair had been tied back for the occasion a number of locks were still left free, from the look of it deliberate. The dress showed off some of her curves and hinted at others, and though the neckline was low it didn't leave her back exposed, thus hiding the whipping scars that crisscrossed all over it. Under the suspicious stares, she folded her hands behind her back and stepped forward, grinning like a Cheshire Cat. Her daggers were concealed well under her dress, years of experience making them unable to be detected. This was going to be fun! |

(OOC: Delete my unfinished post please) Eshara clapped as the Lady Terai came down from centerstage. She had a good singing voice, and her voice was not as hard to the ears as hers would be on others. With a smile, Eshara turned back to what she was doing, namely, drinking. The children she had been entertaining had been scooped up by their parents, and they had been taken away sometime, and now she was left with nothing to do but slack around and watch other people dance. Looking on, she was suddenly interrupted by a startling announcement. "The Lady Tygar of Coai'Orod!" Blinking, Eshara looked around. She caught a glimpse of Seren mouthing WHAT?! and Nenreo looking as though she had been just clubbed on the head. Eshara scanned past them to see a woman, younger than her children, with elvish ears, walking down the stairs. Her appearance literally screamed blue. Blue eyes, blue dress, blue ... everything. Something was just not right. But Eshara could not place it. Why was someone from Coai'Orod here. Was she a renegrade from Coai'Orod, or something else. Whatever it was, Eshara could not do anything about it until it revealled itself to her. She had no business going around wading into things that were far too deep for her. She fervently hoped that Visemi was around. She might be able to figure out what was going on. Eshara Aravell Wise of the Five Edited by Eshara Aravell, August 30, 2009, 9:12 am.

"The Lady Tygar of Coai'Orod." "WHAT?!" Seren spunned around and mouthed. Nenreo looked as though she had been clubbed on the head, and Eshara, who was standing not so far away, looked worried and suspicious. Around them, a lot of muttering was going on, and seemed to be centred and focused on a young woman who was just entering the Ballroom. Seren's eyes narrowed as he surveyed the young woman. Blue dress, blue eyes, blue shoes. Seren looked over the young woman and was surprised to find that her hair wasn't dyed blue. Blue certainly is striking on her. He thought, wryly. She literally shouts out for attention that she probably wants. Is this a joke of some kind? Who from Coai'Orod would dare show their face here unless he has a death wish? Seren nearly stretched with his magic to survey her, but stopped himself in time. There were probably people who could sense magic around, and he would be drawing undue attention to himself if he tried to do anything that obvious towards anyone. Doing magic of this kind was unlike magic used to entertain people, like what Eshara had done previously. It had a darker side and feel to it, and was more likely to make people nervous. As it is, his hand shimmered slightly before he drew in his power firmly. Nenreo looked down at his hand, feeling the slight surge of magic that was so faint he was not sure anyone else had felt it. Smiling at her, he shook his head, and he laughed softly. "There's nothing we can do, except to wait for Coai'Orod to make the first move." she said very softly, for him to hear, then pulled him along in another dance. Seren Yoshan Crafter of the Five |

He smirked at Kinara's comment about a woman having many facets. She had really transformed herself into a proper lady this evening. Their performance tonight could mean the difference between life and death, especially hers and yet she made not a single mistake. She was cool and calm, though he was sure her mind was on the prospective killers that could be lurking the Palace hidden behind an ancient face. Robin was very pleased that the guild had saw fit to pick her for the job, she was his first choice but that didn't mean she would be theirs. In his mind Kinara was the best person to serve as Juliet's secret bodyguard and so far she was doing an excellent job at it. Robin moved his arm around her waist as a small group of giggling maids passed by eying him like candy. He smirked as they pouted and continued on their way. He leaned in and whispered in Kina's ear again, "I so owe you for keeping me from the mob of raging hormones vying for my affection." A brow quirked at Galvin's expression as Kinara's chest heaved with breath. He fought back a chuckle, later on he would have to point out to his new friend that they were simply following orders and therefore did not fancy one another. Or at least as far as he knew, she didn't fancy him. Robin didn't think he was her type, not that he was even sure if she had a type, but either way his heart belonged to another. "Well I don't know how much help I will be but I do believe the Triad shall triumph over the Shadow Lands one day." His gaze then fell upon his sister Terai and the peasant farmer named Darion that was dancing with her. Robin cared little about the mans title but more about his character, his nature. Of what Terai had told him, the man was a worthy gentlemen of a good nature. He would have to get to know this Darion Natael better, especially since it seemed he had intentions to court his baby sister. Galvin's question about his family reminded him that he was not from around here and knew very little of Robin besides where he lived and what he did for a living. He gestured to Terai as she danced. "My younger sister Terai is the only family I have left my friend. And I have no doubt that she will agree to my offer. For she is a most gracious Lady, always putting the benefit of others before herself. Therefore enjoy the party. That's what parties are suppose to be for anyhow." Robin smirked as Galvin's gaze fell upon Kinara's face. He figured he would give the man a chance to spend some time alone with the thief, that way he could also spend some time mingling. But mostly so he could be near Juliet. "Master Menethil, if you could be so kind and give Lady Kinara here some company, I have a matter in which I need to speak with his majesty. I trust you can look after her until I return." Edited by Robin Kabala, September 9, 2009, 1:35 am.

Tygar looked around the room, barely glancing at the Princess. Mingle first, kill later had been the order, and that meant there was some time to have some fun along the way. Her gaze eventually settled on Robin, assessing his build and the way he held himself with an experienced eye. Oh yes, he was a fighter alright... Calmly walking over to the Master of the Sword until she was in front of him, her lips curled into an amused smirk as she curtsied with feigned meekness, offering her hand in an open invitation to be asked for a dance to the song the orchestra started playing the first notes of... |

Desafir, came in with a large group hoping to not be noticed. Though others seemed to have different ideas; about how to make an entrance. Others didn't seem very interested in hiding. He smirked as Tygar was announced, she didn't seem to mind the attention. Desafir, well he preferred to live through the evening. Taking a glass, he drank, while looking around the room. It was undeniably beautiful, though the amount of guards was troubling to say the least. Desafir suddenly wondered if this would be his final mission. There was something off about the whole thing, but the gold had been to much to turn down. So here he was in a room full of enemies, with very little backup, and a bad feeling... it was definitely time to get out of here. Pain shot up his leg as he turned to leave, making it feel like he was on fire. The second step, made him gasp softly, the pain unbearable. Magic, he smelled magic; very strong magic. That witch Vylaska, this was her doing... apparently he had no choice, he couldn't leave. As soon as he changed his mind the pain was gone, as if it had never been. She would pay for this, if he had to go through the Dark Lord himself. NOBODY forced him, no one owned him. Rage twisted his insides till the world turned red... while his face remained ice. He had always been a good card player. Edited by Desafir, September 10, 2009, 12:42 am.

Neres sat down and looked around, the still air throwing a quiet serenity to the atmosphere as she finally raised her head to gaze at the moon, which shone on her reddish-brown hair with a soft crimson glow. Finally, she looked at Visemi, the smile on her face small yet prominent. "I suppose it is, Visemi, with the moon shining bright tonight." she said, luxuriously stretching onto the bench lying back, gazing onto the moon, her face radiant as light bathed and clothed it. Visemi looked at her, expressionless, then grinned dustily. "Only because the moon is out." she snorted drily. Neres nodded slowly as she closed her eyes, resting, as she had not done for quite a while. Neres Yoshan Healer of the Five |

Kinara was suddenly aware of both Robin and Galvin's eyes on her and she wasn't quite sure how she felt about it. She had always been considered beautiful by men, she supposed it had something to do with her race being fairly rare and therefore exotic to these Evorians, but few who knew her personally dared to think of her as a sexual object. Still, she found she did not dislike their attention... These were both men she respected and considered, in many ways, equals. Perhaps it was just these ridiculous clothes that had their minds in a fog. She actually looked and acted like a woman tonight. That must have made the difference to them. In that case, it would very likely dissipate as soon as she changed back into her normal dark leathers and started the customary swearing again. She felt the slightest twinge of sadness at that thought but brushed it away quickly with a smile. She should at least enjoy things while they lasted. Robin's breath stirred gently against her ear as he leaned down to whisper in it. ”You are doing brilliantly tonight, Kinara. Remind me to buy you a few rounds when this is over.” She rose on tip toes to get nearer to his ear. “More than a few, Kabala, and I'm not sure we will be level even after that.” She batted silver eyelashes at him and smiled coyly. All the attention in the world would not make up for her having to traipse around like a feather brained courtier all night. The announcement of a lady from Coia'Orod caused Kinara's eyebrows to first raise in surprise and a touch of disbelief then furrow with concern. No one had claimed a title from that land in years, most especially because almost no one had escaped when Daemon's forces took it. It wasn't exactly impossible that this Lady Tygar was from Nikolas' old court, just improbable. Kinara would have to watch that one carefully tonight. Robin's comment brought her back to the conversation at hand. He can look after me for you can he? Kinara's temper flared and she nearly let fly with a few curses about not needing a man to hold her hand but her stubbornness and sense of duty won out. She forced a smile in Robin's direction before turning one a bit more genuine on Galvin. “I would be delighted by the company.” |

The announcement of Lady Tygar from Coai' Orod stopped Robin dead in his tracks. His eyes trailed over to the staircase to get a good look at this woman obviously bold enough to declare herself from the Shadow Lands. It seemed the entire Ball Room had their eyes on her and her outfit, it mirrored her desire to obtain attention. 'Strange that one should be so bold. Is she meant to serve as the Assassin? Or as a distraction to keep us from searching for Daemon's real Assassin? Either way, I will not be fooled by this female, no matter her purpose.' The air had grown hotter, more and more guests seemed to fill the room as time passed and just as Robin was but a few feet away from King Fredrick, his sister Terai began to sing. Not wishing to be rude, he decided it could wait until the song finished. As soon as it did he noticed Lady Tygar walked straight for him, a coy smirk on her face as she gestured for a dance. He glanced towards the dance floor then back at her with a polite grin. 'If this serpent wants to slither across the dance floor with me then why should I stop her!' It didn't even take any steps to see she would try and fight him for control upon the floor. 'Let her try.' He thought. His strength surpassed every person here. He took her hand to led her out onto the floor, Robin bowed low just like a proper gentleman should and then took one of her hands into his and placed the other at her waist. The two began to take their turns about the room with all eyes focused upon them. The music chosen was a slow waltz, not exactly the sort of dance he wished to share with her but yet one in which information could be learned without concentrating on steps. "You have come a long way from home to be here tonight My Lady. It must have been difficult for you to leave your homeland. Do you miss it terribly? Are you a refugee here? Or do you live in the mountains in exile? Forgive me for all the questions, I've just never meet anyone from Coai' Orod before. It's very intriguing." Normally his manner was far more reserved and polite but if this woman was working for Daemon, which he was certain she was, then there was no reason to waste his manners on such a creature. There were very few of the Mountain People who escaped his genocide and all of them keep that factor hidden for fear of being discovered by the Dark Lord and end up murdered or enslaved. This woman showed no fear or concern which in Robin's eyes meant that this 'Lady Tygar' was no refugee. Edited by Robin Kabala, October 25, 2009, 5:14 pm.

Galvin felt a little disappointed when he saw Robin put his arm around Kinara, and she looked to return it. Even so he couldn't help but feel ashamed about that feeling, he wasn't here because of that and he would have to steel his resolve if he was to do something useful. He was about to politely excuse himself when Robin did just that. It was like a cold bucket of water had been doused over him, he was about to object when Kinara spoke up herself. Suddenly he was aware of what had been said before his friend left. Coai' Orod had been leveled almost thirty years ago. While it was true that some had escaped from the carnage over the past several years he hadn't heard of any nobles escaping. He pushed those thoughts from his mind, his friend had asked him to keep Kinara company, and that was what he would do. "I would be delighted by the company." Well he was in for it now, he remembered Kinara being a bit rough around the edges, yet tonight he couldn't see anything but the beautiful woman she was and question as to which side was the real her. He wasn't sure which he liked better yet. Taking a seat across from her he wasn't really sure what to say, not knowing how to start a conversation and not daring to ask her to dance he decided to see if he could find out a little more about her history. "So how did a beautiful woman such as yourself end up in Evora anyway?" He didn't want to pry to deep into her past but he was curious, and if his father had taught him anything before leaving it had been that women loved to talk, and in his experience his sisters certainly had.
