I haven't played this game seriously since the demise of Spiritus Sanctus. And even though I was a fairly good player (nothing flashy, average top 5-15) I can honestly say I don't remember ANYTHING about how this game is played. Even less now that the game is so different to how it was back then. So could anybody teach me how to play Legend Arena competitively again? I'm not looking for noob stuff (as in: 'Read the History and Karmina so you get 10 extra stamina!!!!!) but advanced techniques that give you an edge (stat allocation, timelines, etc.) Thank you! |

Spam! And just like TH said but remember always check rankings when you choose the stat points! When it comes to charms communication is very good, you need to know when the other top players order their charms to do it similarly, or even before them! Try to keep a high ranking from start of the round and maintain it rather than thinking "ill catch up later" Focus on very good offensive win% by picking the targets with care and spam if you have much time. WPscore is important too, dont forget that. :-) Check the other top players latest offensive win for good spam targets and also investigate peoples charm power from the top rankings to see if they are stronger than you before trying to hit them. edit: bank often. dont buy all the gear you can, try to get a clan with a good armory to save your money for charms!(you have to buy some gear or you will be the spamtarget of the week and we dont want that :P) Edited by stedas, Jul 7 2009, 12:01 AM.

Naturally, the biggest must I can think of is to either go solo or join a big (top) clan. A small clan can work, but avoid one with many mutuals. The one siders might not give you much wp's, but they sure as hell beat getting attacked 50 times over night. You'll get absolutely swamped if you're not carefull, especially seeing as the exp loss has increased dramaticly. You need the many bonusses to gain any exp from mutuals as it stands. |

All of these things are the kind of stuff i wanted in an advance players guide (besides spamming :P). The info i post is recived with experience from playing the game and not by reading the codes. -Dont attack players online, they might heal on you or use clangear to win defencive. -Never lose, if you do lose swallow your pride and even thou tempted, dont attack the player again until you have A) A new charm B) new equips or C) gained a level or two on him/her. -Attack people you can win against without potions (as high as you can) and save potionmoney for charms, in the long run this will pay of. however, if you for some reason feel you need potions: -Potions weaken every 20min sharp, get the potion just after a 20 min update (??:00:??,??:20:?? or ??:40:??). This will give you 4 attacks under maximum influence. -In the long run charms are better then gear. If you find yourselfe in a small clan with no armory you might have to get both thou. but three power 40 charms with 19 gear is good defencive and awsome with borrowed top clan gear offencive. top gear and power 30 charms are just as good defencive but less awsome offencive. - if you play for toprank you should rather get a few point smaller charm, three days earlier then a bigger one. This is tricky but like stedas posted, keep yourselfe updated on the other top players might be needed. If you order the charm after you have started to fall behind it might be to late since they take 8-10 days to make. Then the points lost while the charm gets ready will be hard to recoup. - mentioned before but, try and stay as high every rank update rather they catch up late round, this rank system is really slow when it comes to catching up and if you manage to stay within top 20 in current ranking thru out the round you most likely will end up top 10. Get yourselfe a system to try and stay on top on as many of the daily updates first 1½ month (later in round this is not so important since things in current then goes slower). hmm, all i can think of for now

cloud mean 11-12 hours (like he spends) my two cents agility is weaker in the beginning only start putting points in it when you have better equipment. Gc's are more common then what you were used to last round the auction house had gc's almost all round, there was a small period quite near the end when it was empty, still it means buying gcs should cost you 200 just like selling. mining is very useful if you can get it at the right number, not going to say what I think it is, fishing is less strong then you are used to. going solo has been proven to be a wise tactic by both beamy and grawler. When I come back I will add more |

Introduction Hello brithor, i see you want to play like the old SS days ![]() Firstly, i cannot re-iterate how important the start is. Many people disregard that start and think "there's time to get better and catch-up." These people are so wrong. By finding that perfect start you can be a level ahead of people by the time the first rank update happens, which is extremely useful if you're playing for rank. For every level ahead you are, you have more chance of gaining yet another level above the pack. This works because the higher level you are, the higher your stats are, which decreases the number of defensive battles you recieve. Everybody looks for the perfect start, obviously. There are a number of steps to this so called perfect start. ####################### ####################### ####################### Gambling Obviously you understand the importance of gambling early on. A good result in gambling can enforce your start and make you virtually untouchable. Looking at it from the gambling aspect, it is completely random who gets an extremely good start. However you need to know what to do with that 24k storm. ####################### ####################### ####################### Equipment As a number of people have mentioned in the forums, equipment is the definitive factor. You would be extremely naive to sit around naked at the start of a round. By investing 10k into p11's as soon as possible, be it through gambling or waiting for income, you will become god like on defensive! ####################### ####################### ####################### "Waiting" - EXP BENEFITS As you will have seen in many a round you've played, the top players and clans tend to sit about in their clans as lvl 1's. The typical waiting period is untill 140 stamina. Though it is a good idea to stagger when you start battling seeing as many other people will be fighting for the unequipped targets at the same time as you. There are a number of basic ideas behind this strategy, one of them is "that you cannot loose experience if you have none to loose." To elaborate on this point, if you level up a few times with the 51 stamina you gain from signing up, you can possibly reach level 3. You have now made yourself a prime target. People that rush levels are often considered to be "noobs". Also, the odds are that unless you get over 8k from gambling, you are going to be extremely badly equiped. You will begin to loose a lot of experience from those that have waited and saved up for equips. By staying at a low level, you will avoid this experience loss. If you are equipped, there's a fair bet you can gain a some "free" experience from winning defensive battles against other lvl 1's. ####################### ####################### ####################### "Waiting - EXP BENEFITS 2" Another key reasons clan and players tend to wait before leveling is: "Players can level much quicker after the initial noob rush for levels." You will notice that your average player will spend 10-13 stamina leveling from level 1 to level 2. By waiting, you can instantly save yourself 7-9 stamina, which will be the base for gaining that extra level by the time the first rank update happens. While waiting, it may look like a player is inactive. However, each and every player that waits, will be monitoring a select group of players. They will tend to watch for players that level to 2 or 3 with poor offensive ratios. Anything below 75% is a sure-fire suggestion that the person has low equips. Sometimes you will be lucky and find someone that has below 60% wins. This means they are definitely unequipped at such an early stage of the game. When playing in these top clans, you will find that most players will contribute their targets and their findings on the clan forums. Though you will need to pay special attention to these targets as they may change equipment or level through the course of the day. ####################### ####################### ####################### "WAITING - EQUIPMENT" As mentioned before, the quicker you gain equipment, the quicker you become godlike. However, another advantage of waiting untill your toward 140-150 stamina is that you will be gaining income still every 20mins. If you bank regularly, this will allow you to have saved-up enough money to be able to afford full p11's (10k) by the time you have 140 stamina. Meaning that you are now able to battle fully equipped. ####################### ####################### ####################### LEVELING This relies on you using the waiting strategy. As i mentioned, you should look for those weak level 2's and 3's. As a fully equiped lvl 1, you should be able to beat a badly equiped, or unequiped lvl 2. This means that you will average 80exp per kill. As you know the exp required to level at this stage is a mere 200. Thus leveling in 3 stamina. As i also mentioned before, this means you save minimum 7 stamina more than other people that just attack other lvl 1's for 20exp each. Now you've leveled, you'll be wondering what to put your attribute points and skillpoints into. ####################### ####################### ####################### Attributes At level 2,3,4 you should use this ratio: 3 LIFE : 1 STR This has been proven to be the strongest build at this stage (assuming you have the p11's). Once you hit level 5, you will need to change your ratio JUST for level 5. 2 Life : 2 STR Now you should be a level 5 with these total stats: Life 105 Agi 10 Str 15 From here on in, you should look to assign your attribute points according to the "rankings". All "top players" will follow the best "rank build" to maximise their current ranking score. ####################### ####################### ####################### Skillpoints Skill points are harder to assign. There are a number of different "skill builds" that players have adopted. You have the "terahammer build" which is pump 4 income : 2 crit : 2 block. This ensures an increase in income whilst pumping combat skills which help irradicate the "randomness" of battles early on. However not many people know or think about this type of build. The more common builds are purely economy based at the early stages of the round. You have the "100 income rush" which obviously is where you aim to max income as quick as possible, then focus on fishing. Also the "50/50 build" which is where you place 50 skills into income as quick as possible then put 50 skills into fishing. This build means that you will have 50 skill in time for having your first 50 fishing ops, thus gaining an advantage over those that go for pure income. There is no proven best build between the 3 above. They are all extremely useful and end up about the same in ranks. ####################### ####################### ####################### Questions If you have any questions, you're welcome to ask me them. This guide only covers the beginning of the round up to the first rank update, which is approximately 3 1/2 days into the round, or in level terms, level 7-8. I shall send you some info / guides tomorrow. I'd love for you to contact me and tell me whether this is the sort of thing you were looking for. ![]() Lanthian |

Disclaimer Please note, the classes have been changed slightly and probably will be changed again in the future. This means some aspect of the guide may become nulled. ####################### ####################### ####################### Introduction As you will know, there are 3 main classes you can choose when playing LA. Each different class brings unique advantages to the table and creates new styles of gameplay. You get the choose a main class when you reach level 10. For information on classes visit here: /classinfo.php ####################### ####################### ####################### Classes in Depth The rogue. In round 14, this was the most powerful class, with 9 of the top 10 players choosing to be a rogue. At the beginning of the round, the bonus agility that the rogue recieves is sufficient to push you up the agility ranks, considering the rank is very much neglected in the early days of the round. If you have followed my previous guide, you will see that life and strength is generally what most players will focus on to begin with. Not only does the rogue recieve additional agility, which helps with ranks and influences what your first charm will be, you also recieve a finishing move [FM]. Now that you have the advantage of a finishing move, you will become a lot stronger on defense, providing you are updated with equipment. However, other people get this bonus too, meaning they too will become stronger on defensive. It's just an observation that i've made, but i believe that the FM is more effective in defense that it is in offensive. I have yert to figure out why, but you'd do well to remember that! As a rogue, you can use warriors and tradesmen as easy pickings, you should beat all traders and 90% of warriors at this stage in the game. Rogue - 2nd phase. At level 25 you get to choose a "sub class". If you use the link i provided above you can again find information about the sub classes. Firstly i will say, i do not know of anyone that opted for the Assassin..yet. The lure of the master finishing move [MFM] is too tempting for LA rogue players. The MFM was extremely powerful in R14 however, it has been slightly nerfed now to make it a little weaker. This being said, i still believe the MFM will be powerful enough. I know of a study done by some players into the effectiveness of the MFM in Round 14. It was concluded that in 95% of battles the MFM only served as overkill. Meaning you could kill someone with a normal FM instead of having the MFM. This puts a whole new spin on the FM/MFM choice and may mean we see a few more Assassins in round 15. The Operative recieves an extra 4 agility, which effectively acts as an extra +4 on your agility charm. This may be have a small effect on the rankings but we're now heading into the stage where the attribute rankings are very spread, so this +4 may not have much effect on the rankings.. and certainly not much effect when battling. Therefor, i still would recommend choosing the Assassin as that MFM is the security you need especially on defense. ####################### ####################### ####################### The Tradesman The tradesman peeked in round 13 where 5 of the top 10 were tradesmen. It has always been said that if a good player decides to play the tradesman, they can do extremely well. This was proved by cerber in round 14 where he finished as the highest tradesman, ranked 21. This may seem quite low however, he ended up with the largest charms and the highest current ranking. During round 14, the tradesman has a 35% increase to either fishing or mining, this was the key to obtaining extremely large charms. Other non-tradesman players could only dream about making enough money for these three huge charms. Unfortunately, this 35% advantage has been nerfed down to a 20% advantage. This may render the tradesmen extrmely weak in the coming rounds, though we shall have to see. At lvl 10 the tradesman recieves 5 extra skillpoints, this has been nerfed down from 20 skilpoints. These extra 5 skillpoints would be well used in upping either income or fishing giving a slight advantage again over non-tradesmen. Aswell as these skillpoints, the tradesman also recieves 10% more income, fishing and mining. This at the earlier levels means you will (hopefully) have more money than the other classes, meaning you should be able to afford charms and equipment before others. Round 15 also sees the introduction of a +5 life bonus for lvl 10 traders. This is to rival the strength and agility bonuses recieved by the other classes. However, both the warrior and the rogue appear to have a stronger grasp in the early rankings due to their superior attribute bonus. Untill the final few weeks of the round, the tradesman is by far the weakest combat class. Untill the last few weeks of the round, tradesmen will find that they recieve far more defensive loses than any other class. This usually results in tradesmen falling down the levels due to the amount of exp they loose from defense and ultimately down the rankings. Aswell as being weak on defense, tradesmen are noticable weak on offense too. Most trademen will avoid fighting warriors and almost certainly not fight rogues. This only leaves tradesmen vs tradesmen, which is a level playing field. However, with the clear disadvantage tradesmen get there are less people choosing tradesmens so there are less targets for those that do choose tradesmen. If you are willing to be patient and wait for glory day by day then it would be worth looking at the tradesman class. With the 20% bonus to fishing, there is potential to invest large sums of money early on to the view of reaping the rewards later on in the round. By the end of the round many tradesman, similarly to cerber, will end the round with large charms and a pick of all the targets to battle. ####################### ####################### ####################### Warrior needs doing. |

Great stuff, but I do have something to madd to the waiting strategy. All I can say is, just look at the amount of level 2's. There aren't many. Now, we're a bit past the 140 stamina point but there still aren't many level 2's. Now, there might be the odd weak level 2 player(level 3 to beat as level 1, even more unlikely), but you'll hardly ever be able to fight that player if you're in a clan. The weakest are usually outside clans, or in weak clans. The clans your clan probably hasn't warred. You'd need to be in a real good clan which has picked its wars just for the waiting strat to make it a usefull strategy. Otherwise, if you've waited and are in a clan, you only have higher levels and a few level 1's to pick from. So, be carefull to not wait too long so you can't fight properly. |

"Great stuff, but I do have something to madd to the waiting strategy. " What does this mean? Right, as i said only the top clans and top players will employ this strategy.. this is an advanced player guide is it not? So i thought i might aswell post the strategy used by those top players. I was in the same clan as you were mhuhaha (moira), you can see for yourself in the clan forums forkuGHOST has posted "right we need to find a noob clan that we can spam first". Clans do look for those odd weak players. I remember when i played a few months back. Kellyc has "The Omen". He had a 3 man clan with only one high level yet all the top clans declared against him. Clans do look for weak targets and do capitalise on them. Along with the 9 wars, or is it 7, clans have the opportunity to find those weak targets and declare vs them. You say that at the moment most of the weak players are in outside of clans, this is a beta.. and a bad one at that.. the market place in a round would not be open. So you would have clans like Ready for war from round 13, who have no equipment at all seeing as they donated to get a full set of clan equips. These clans at first can be great to level off of. I also remember a clan called "Tyrian Dream" with someone guys in there like Snipes, who leveled without equipment on and wondered why it took 25+stamina to get to level 2. These are the players and clan you look to declare against first off. EDIT: This a player guide, not a how to run and organise a clan at the start of a round guide. Though i can do one of those if required
