What levels of profanity? We already have the tightest censoring ever. I fail to see where you find so much 'profanity' that makes the forum so unreadable. Also tiana, I really lol'd at your stupid remarks. You say I'm trying to turn this forum into a brothel? Well I must say that is the dumbest thing I have heard in a long time. You read what you want to read, maybe it's your mind that's dirty? |

if you are offended by petty remarks then you should get the sleep off the interwebs. as brithor said, we already have a filter that stops everything known to man, and even non-swear words like censored Brithor has told me he has been approached about his stories made in a roleplay werewolf thread. I have had BRITHOR GAVE ME HERPES in my forum signature in big sleeping piss yellow writing for about a week now yet I have not been approached yet. If this overzealous forum censorship continues, we won't be able to post anything other topics about little dollys and teapot garden parties in case some mormon mother gets offended by the fact that their 13 year old child has seen the word censored on an internet forum. As I already told you, Brithor, and Tera and Mhuahaha, I do not want to involve myself (too much) in the administration of the forum. By me, you can do whatever you want in here, as long as it is not considered offensive by other players. I have seen a lot of foul language used in here, and never interfered, because it has never been reported. This time it has been reported both in here and in the game. Indeed, as K-B said, I am not reading that thread, so in the reports I have been sent directly to your post, and took the action. So, if you, Brithor, really feel the strong need to blame someone, blame the players who didn't like your post. Another prove that I am not interfering much in the forum's admin is, indeed, K-B's signature. As long as it has not been reported directly to me, he can keep it and make it font 250 if he wants, it is not my problem. |

I think its hypocritical, not doing anything unless you get reports. I do have to say that this forum is not the free-for-all internet. There are certain rules here, one of them against foul language. Especially the more serious topics in LA talk, Suggestions etc, Mhua and I keep tightly moderated. Werewolf, offtopic and stuff like that are games and we are looser there. In doing so, we hope to bring a quality forum for both the serious player who wants to discuss LA aswell as the spammers who want to have some fun and do cheeky things sometimes. the thing is, you can't just take a report use that as the deciding feature in making a decision on whether or not a post is bad. Once again, I'll relate to a problem in Guild Wars. There was one guild in the game called Super Kaon Action Team [SuKa]. This guild got a report from ONE person due to the claim that the tag, SuKa, meant b!tch in polish. Bear in mind that Guild Wars doesn't have any polish servers and the guild in question has no polish members with any knowledge of the language. This guild was banned for this report. A big uproar was made about this as this was a highly regarded guild, making the top 50 on the guild wars ladder. Someone later posted on a Guild wars PvP forum a paste of the report to Arena-Net under an anonymous forum account. When this account was IP traced, it turned out to match the same IP as someone who had tried out for the guild and had been rejected. This showed a fault in the report system as people can press the report button out of spite or misunderstanding, yet actions will still be taken against the subject in question. The support team did not properly review the subject, which I think is the case here. A report came in and action was taken, just based on the context of the report, rather than reviewing the actual problem subject instead. |

See, Brithor, in some of the werewolf posts, has done worse that just have two characters homosexual with each other. Every character who dies through inactivity gets an embarrassing death. Last round, KB and I died to wolf lynching. KB got herpes. I got portrayed in an extremely negative light, with a hint of Scottish stereotyping. Did we report it? No, because it's just a game. It requires even less action than LA. Just show up once a day and vote, that's all that's asked of you. You don't even need to do that. Why folk can be so caring about it I don't know. Yes, there's tension about who'll win. Yes, there's "WHY DID YOU GO TO THE OTHER SIDE?!". But at the end of the day, it's still just a game. |

Sometimes the censor is ridiculous. I know that good intentions are there and everything but sometimes you just think...what? Like one time Brith tried to PM me saying bon a-p-e-t-i-t-e but since it has ti-t in it its a swear! But most of the time I find the censor quite amusing, it often has a way of stopping K-B and his more 'colourful' lanuage

In my opinion, the cencsoring now is too far there is a more mature base of players here rather than lil kiddies, but its understandable i suppose. Whats said in the WW game is fine, i think clamping down on that ruins it. I agree with brithor that it should go with the majority not the humourless people who disagree. An example = Comedians, they can be offensive yet because of the majority that like them, not the few they are given talk shows etc etc. When it becomes the majority its a different matter however. |

Alright, I am gone during weekdays because of internships and I don't have the time during the weekends to really read through it all properly. This in mind, I left TH in charge. I asked tiana to support TH, but only when needed. We don't want to make a fuzz out of things. I had asked the admins to leave the forum and its rules to the forum team as much as possible though. But I reckoned two eyes were better than one. I also reckoned nothing would happen because I know most of you are pretty capable of handling things in the correct state of mind some would call being mature (Though I've seen way to many adults act childish to find it viable). Appearantly I was wrong, well, that's not a first and I'll get over that. But I am still pretty annoyed by it. I came back last week and I got to read KB having herpes. After reading through the whole forum I finally found out that brithor wrote that KB died in the werewolf game while having herpes. Thinking this was still harmless enough I left it. I left myself out of moderating even a single bit of the whole thing. Brithor is in charge there, so he should take responsibillity to uphold this forum's rules. Appearantly he didn't. I don't care about making fun of Reid for him being funny. I found the herpes part slightly offensive, but let it slide in good nature. But the whole profanity has gone too far. I started out without the censor. I thought we didn't need it. That you guys were mature enough to not say shit. Not calling people a cunt, a bitch and the like. I was proven wrong pretty fast and decided to input the friggin' thing. I don't like it either, censoring petite and hancock because it contains foul language it pretty stupid. But so is having to otherwise input all the possible variations of the word bitch and fuck in order to avoid this. Well, sorry for me not wanting to do that and just accept the rare instances in wich the censor screws up. Now, I don't care that the mayority thinks the censor is stupid. If you think it is fine to not care about the feelings of the minority, even though it may just make up a few percentages of the whole population, then I salute to you Hitler. Now, please tell me in what way I am wrong in comparing this with the actions of the natzi during the second world war. Now, I know what you might say, making real world comparisons for a game is stupid. Well, than I only need remind you of that fact that this is a forum. Yes, of a game, but it is still a forum. A community of people who are as real as it gets. Using analogisch like hitler's actions in a conversation between real people in the real world on the phone for example is no different than a conversation in here. Only the medium is different. Well, I bet you're wondering what I am going to do about this mess eey? Warn some people for sure? Perhaps ban some people? Ohh, taking away moderating powers of either TH, tiana or brithor could do? Well, here is what I am going to do: Nothing. There is nothing wrong with the positions people have now. Just the general attitude. To get that to go, I should bane the entire forum.
