Mash Ups

Take 2 or more songs, mix them together and see if it works. There is a lot of crap of it on youtube, but also very nice compositions like this one.

Abba and 50 cent... Who'd have known that this would work?

you see! wow we all have a very different tatse in music, i love it all man, thats why is would be cool to have a La radio, you gotta admit it man, this is all good stuff, plus it brings us just a little closer as a community, face it there aren't many people who enjoy text based games, we are all alike in a lot of ways, I'm sure that music is a good way to get to know each other a little better. oh and try not to be an @ss Brithor :)

So I am going to tread lightly into this topic with an album that honestly is a gimme.

Michael Jackson - Thriller
Pop/Rock. This album alone spawned at least 5 #1 I believe. The next best thing to a Greatest Hits CD.

Matchbox 20 - Mad Season
This in my opinion is a really good CD, there are 7 songs off of it that I love and that is saying something most artist get like 1 or 2, 3 if there lucky that I like off a single album. Now I am not saying there is anything wrong with the other 6 songs, just that I really like the 7 compared to it being most just ok/ listen in the background not looking to hear that specific song mood.
Here are some of the songs, performed live

Gonna save the Frank Turner review for abit later I think.

For now I'm going to feature an artist who has been in the spotlight recently for quite possibly the wrong reasons - although it is the reason I discovered her. This stunning 19 year old burst onto the scene at just 16 in 2006 and has become a huge success as the first ever country artist to win an MTV VMA award.

Taylor Swift - Fearless
This is the second installment from the young country singer and has in all means topped it. She has moved slightly away from her country routes in this album to cater a broader audience. The first song on the album, Fearless, sets off good expectations for the rest of the album which are met with ease.

To demonstrate her ability to sing live and not just be another generic corporate Miley Cyrus artist, here's a video of what I believe to be her best live work - A duet with Joe Elliott, the lead singer of 80's rock group Def Leppard (who just so happens to be one of Swift's childhood idols.)

As a bonus, here's a song from her debut self-titled album, Taylor Swift. This is probably my favorite song of hers and what really wows me about it is that this song was released when the girl was only 16. For someone of that age to sing such a passionate, emotional song is just incredible.

The Lonely Island - Incredibad

What can I say? These guys do comedy music perfectly. From the hip-hop of Like A Boss, to Jizz In My Pants, to the legendary I'm On A Boat, The Lonely Island are a hilarious lot. The song I've chosen is one of the ones I've mentioned. The best song on the album, in my opinion, with a brilliant music video. It also mocks another music video where the entire rap was sung on, but with no reference made to, a boat. They compensated for THAT little issue. Now, as little kids play LA, this is the 'clean' edit, which, to be honest, is almost funnier than the original due to the humorous method of censoring.

I knew I'd forgotten something in my not-quite-sober and very tired state (4am in bed, sleeping at 4.30am, getting up before 7am = bad, 'kay?). Added now.

Ahh, such is student life Reid, get used to it. I usually go to bed at 0:00. I went out today and I just got back. I've got a decent 7 hours sleep ahead of me, so not too bad a day.
