I saw this thread on another forum and i thought it might take off here in light of how successful the 'what i'm listening to' thread is ----------------------------------------------------------- Rules: - Post an album that hasn't been posted before (artwork is nice!). - Brief explanation of why it doesn't suck. - Youtube link/embed to a good song from the album. You're alowed to call out anyone else out for crud music, but you must post a new non-crud song whenever you do. Any song will do, the artist/album doesn't need to be posted yet. Keep this to a one artist-per post please, as to keep out the inevitable crud storm of people who come in and post 16 different songs from 16 different artists. ----------------------------------------------------------- To start: ![]() Kate Voegele - Don't Look Away [Deluxe Edition] Pop/Folk. Kate Voegele released this as her debut album in 2007 when she was just 20 years of age. Her voice is like none other I've ever heard before. She sings with such passion that shines right through every song she sings. I don't normally listen to stuff like this but Kate is the exception. The deluxe version of the album has some really nice acoustic versions of her songs, something I really enjoy. This song is called Kindly Unspoken and was the second song I'd heard from Kate when i discovered her last year. |

Good thread K-B! Here goes my first entry. I must say I don't expect to be a huge success in this thread. ![]() Herbie Hanc o c k - Head Hunters 1973 is the year. Here comes Herbie Hanc o c k, one of the greatest jazz fusion pianists ever, with what's probably the greatest Jazz Fusion albums of all time! The album is only four songs long but god damn, the funkiness is just unbearable! Here's a sample: Watermelon Man Stupid censoring! Really! It pisses me off. Edited by Brithor, Jun 15 2009, 02:27 PM.

Here is the sample from the CD: Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger |

Daft Punk are frickin epic! And Brithor, when I first started listening to that stuff I was like wtf is this? then it slowly started to become very relaxing and awesome ![]() Blink-182 - Dude Ranch Punk Rock. The second album released by Blink-182, and the timing of Travis Barker joining the band. Nuff said, Travis Barker is a beast. It's not as good as Enema of the State or Take Off Your Pants And Jacket but I see this record as the turning point of the band on their way to success |

Lol Blink-182 I haven't listened to that since I was, what... 14/15? Now my second entry: ![]() Talking Heads - Fear of Music Even though this isn't the 'classic' Talking Heads album (the honor goes to Remain In Light) I find it to be greatly entertaining and has a couple of awesome tracks. Give it a listen! Life During Wartime is the track I chose. Just look at that big suit! |

Too funky for me. It's good, but not my style. ![]() The album I chose is: ![]() Triggerfinger - What Grabs Ya Triggerfinger, a band which made their way to the top, originates from Belgium. They released this baby in 2008. My favorite song of the whole album is called: "Is It". The way they handle the blues & rock, it's just amazing. And to finish it, look at Ruben's (the lead guitarist + singer) mutton chops! Is It is the track I chose. It's recorded at one of the best festivals here in Belgium (and one of the best here in the Benelux). |

As soon as the song started ken, I knew I liked it. K if anyone disagrees with this they can suck my hairy balls ![]() Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP Rap/Hip-hop. The second album of contraversial rapper Eminem's career, released in 2000. The album sold over 1.76 million copies in its first week, earning a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records as the fastest-selling album ever (wiki ftw). Eminem's lyrical genious covers all aspects of life and the emotions we feel when going through it. Some of his songs are funny, some are sad, some are violent. The song I am picking is a fun song about drugs, taken off the special edition of the album's 2nd CD. It is called 'The Kids' |

Ok, time to join this thread.![]() Eric Johnson - Ah Via Musicom This guy is a fantastic instrumental guitarist. His main style is rock, but he throws in country, jazz, western and New Age as well sometimes. He also plays piano, and does some vocal pieces. This critically-acclaimed album, released in 1990, went platinum, but it seems even Wikipedia doesn't know the time for that to happen. The song I've linked is, in my opinion, his very best piece. It's very chirpy and happy, whilst being an amazing piece of music. I'm not alone in my thoughts on this one, either - Eric won the 1991 Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance for this tune, Cliffs of Dover. Some of you who play Guitar Hero 3 may recognise it, as it features in the game. Edited by ReidE96, Jun 17 2009, 09:27 AM.

![]() Why it doesnt suck? - The band itself is a breath of fresh air to the "metal" scene and the lyrics + riffs are as catchy as hell! I would recommend anyone who enjoys anything from Tenacious D to Motley Crue to check this band out right now! ( Oh and i saw them live at this years download festival and Bam Margera himself brought them onto the stage was the most epic thing ive ever seen ) |

Seems people stopped posting... Alright here we go.![]() Newton Faulkner - Hand Built By Robots Acoustic/Folk. I listened to this album alot when it first came out. Newton Faulkner brings a breath of fresh air to mainstream music, something it had needed for a long time. His unique and varying style lets him produce a wide range of emotions through his music. He is most known for his song 'Dream Catch Me' and his cover of Massive Attack's 'Teardrop' I have chosen not to use either of these songs for this post, as many may have already heard them. Without further adieu, here is Newton Falkner's 'I Need Something' |

Bored, cant sleep cause it's too hot, so let's try and keep a dying thread alive ![]() ![]() Frank Turner - Love And Ire Song Acoustic/Folk. When I first heard Frank Turner around 4 months ago, I was absolutely blown away. He is amazingly talented and deserves much more of a spotlight than he currently has. The lyrics he produces are just amazing, no other word for it. You may have seen his video Long Live The Queen, which I have posted in other areas of the forum. I have chosen to give you a taste of his second album, Love and Ire Song. I had trouble trying to choose which of the fantastic 12 tracks on offer as they are all so good... but I'm going to go with the first track. Anyway, here it is. 'I Knew Prufrock Before He Got Famous'. Listen to it all the way through, the build up is so awesome |

![]() Sound Horizon's 4th story cd Elysion I was first introduced to the amazing sound of Sound Horizon just about 2 years ago now. It was by chance when I encountered a live version from one of the songs from the 5th story cd Roman. I was completely blown away by the style of Revo.(He is Sound Horizon. He's the composer and writer of the lyrics. He employs other artists to collaborate with him on his albums.) Revo uses opera, pop, rock, jazz and so on to create songs. His lyrics near the poetic and tell a story with each song, tell a bigger story with the songs which form an album. His concerts are a strange mixture of musical and concerts. I chose the following song because it is concieved to be one of his most iconic and most celebrated songs. Yield and subsequently it's album, Elysion, is what put Revo and Sound Horizon trully on the map. Not to mention the interesting singing style employed by Aramy. (Singing starts after about 2 minutes) |

And so Mhuahaha broke the thread. Anyway, I've been meaning to post here but I just forget every time... ![]() Elbow - The Seldom Seen Kid I honestly didn't know anything about this band 'til like 3 weeks ago and now it's got me hooked. I don't know why, maybe it's the mix of everything. I hadn't heard a band this fresh in a while. Give it a listen! Elbow - Mirrorball Edited by Brithor, Jun 28 2009, 12:01 PM.

pff fine. I'll try to post less acoustic/indie as it seems to be a theme in the slap my bottom and call me sally i post. Let's mix it up abit...![]() The Prodigy - The Fat Of The Land The third album from the English Elelectro group. I'm not gonna lie, I don't like this album as much as Invaders Must Die (and alot of Prodigy fans will kill me for that), but I really wanted to show this sleeping EPIC video for Smack My clock Up. The video is known for it's contraversial content that outlines the misuse of drugs and alcohol and the violent effects it can have. WARNING: NSFW http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2n9mv_the-prodigy-smack-my-clock-up-uncen_music I tried to find the unedited video with the snorting coke in the toilets and the hit and run scene but i couldnt find it. |
