A Renaissance Fair Rules: *more rules will be added as issues arise* -Listen to the GM -No God Modding -POST -No magically knowing information not known to the charecter yet -Stay in Character -Though you can invent Magic spells for your character to use no going overboard Combat Rules: Every combat action must be what the character can do in a span of a maximum of five seconds (Example: Bob notches an arrow to a bow and shoots it at the giant Monster) or just a straight forward action (Bob charges at the horde of enemies, swinging his sword widely). Exceptions may be made based on the situation and prior GM knowledge. IE: A sneak attack, a dramatic attack against impossible odds etc, etc. Lorlyn: Lorlyn is a large world with over a third of its surface area covered in water (The rest being ice and visible land mass). It has an earth like environment, with forests, deserts and mountains and several continents. It has 3 moons: Fastosus, Maero and Abominor. Wrapping around the moons is a cloud of dust, micro meteors and ice that create dazzling night-time astronomical events and almost constant meteor showers. Lorlyn sits in orbit around a Sun like star (Named the Sun because honestly its hard to make up names...) with four other planets (two gas giants and two rocky planets) none of which have been given consistent names due to the obscuring effects of the large dust cloud constant shifting giving the impression of a daily changing cosmos to the unfortunate renaissance period civilizations of the planet. Time Line: The standard Calender system used in Lorlyn follows a 280 day cycle, which divides into ten months. Each Month divides into 4 weeks and each week divides into 7 days. Each day has a 24 hour cycle very similar to how it's set up on earth. Now the complicated part comes from the age mechanic. Every 250 years a new "age" is ushered in and the previous age is given a name based on events that happened during that time. What follows below is a list of every age and a brief summary of what happened for the age to receive that name. 0-250, The Dark Ages: The time before the Church is established. Little is known about this time other then it occurred after a fall of a great empire that spanned almost the entire planet. All history before this point is missing. 251-500, Age of the Saviour: The church is established, over 200 years of peace reigns through the world. 501-750, Age of Chaos: The first demon hordes strike from the north, killing untold thousands before the church can muster a resistance. 751-1000, Age of Strife/Age of Heresy: In the wake of the demonic invasion civil war breaks out amongst the kings and lords of the land. This inevitably leads to the longest running crusade carried out in the saviours name ever seen in history, mostly because the church wasn't supporting most of the armies! 1001-1250, Age of Plague: The various crusades create a breeding ground for super viruses. Though arguably short compared to the various other events during this age it stands out the best due to the sheer death toll, numbering in the millions. Also year where surfs and peasants start to establish land ownership claims. 1251-1500: Age of the Dragon: The various non-human empires unite under the immortal dragons and the great dragon god/king and attack the Church's lands in desperation after the plagues/smaller demonic invasions completely destroy most of their kingdoms. What follows is an incredibly short but brutal war leading to the dissolution of many countries and kingdoms. With both sides heavily drained from the fighting a treaty is signed, uniting all lands under the Church's rule. The dragons, blamed for the severe loss of life are forced to either become immortal servants of the Church or banished into the wild. Dragon God disappears. Renaissance starts. 1501-1750, Age of Renaissance: Culture and population explodes as the various kingdoms and countries unite under a single banner. Kingdoms become city states and art and culture take a much needed over haul as real science starts to creep into public knowledge. Technology just starts to reach renaissance era technology that Earth had 250 years before this age. 1751, CURRENT YEAR (For the last three hours). The Demonic and Magical Realms: ![]() The Realm of Mana (I know, I know...) is the place where all life begins and all life returns to. When someone/something is conceived they have a piece of mana placed inside them. As they grow and get stronger so does the mana inside them. However there are ways to drastically increase the mana inside someone. Sure you can increase it by doing things that better yourself or your fellow man but the most common way to do it is by killing This Mana can power spells, give great strength, grant almost impossible charisma. The limits are only to the users imagination. However the strength comes solely from the users stamina, as is all things. Those that run themselves to hard run the risk of collapsing under the strain, which is why Lichdom is such a popular pastime for those seeking power. Elysium: Mortals create quite an impression on Mana, their thoughts and emotions shaping it in ways they can not possibly imagine. Demons however, are the inevitable result. Elysium is their home; the land of dreams and chaos. Separate yet constantly entwined with mana. Demons come in many forms, each based on on the emotions every creature feels, from the lowliest insect to great dragons. The most powerful demons are those that are based along the most shared of these. Bloated hunger, searing violence/ rage, shadowy fear etc. These lead and consume their brethren in a campaign to feed on the mana in all creatures. However they are not without thought. Most are crafty, manipulating and controlling mortals to provide a constant source of food. Some even bond with mortals, increasing their strength tremendously or turning them in twisted abominations. Occasionly demons put away their urge to feed on each other to feed on mortals in a great swarm, a legion of the damned. Luckily this happens rarely, as demons are mostly spirits relying on either possessing a corpse or a non sentient creature who can not resist them. Or they must somehow transmit their great frames into our world, at the cost of most of their power. This does not affect them much as demons are only banished, weakened into their realm when killed in ours. Also a word of warning. Demons are attracted like moths to a flame to either large amounts of magic or a strong presence of mana, hence why it is so rare to find mages who live past the age of forty. The Elemental Plane: Same as above, only they are mostly based around elements (Water, earth, air and fire) and they don't feed on mana like demons do, only on natural levels when their element is brought close to a direct source of it. They do jealously (and violently) protect it though. Religion: The church is the largest standing force against the demons. Though the daily intricacies are something that many would find interesting this is about their military powers. The church practices their own unique style of magic that does not rely on mana and actually can prevent magic from working. They use this unique brand of power to heal the wounded, cure the sick and to smite evil wherever it may be found. They train an entire legion of soldiers into these Paladins and Templar's to police magic and deal with the hordes of demons seeking to feast on those who can not defend themselves. Keep in mind however that magic is not banned from the church's lands. Just extremely frowned upon and extremely regulated. ![]() Economy: ![]() 100 coppers = 1 Bern 20 Bern's = 1 Sovereign To put this into perspective the average payment of a peasant is about 15 coppers per day. Style of clothes of the rich and powerful: ![]() And of the poor and the merchants: ![]() Technology level: Same as in Assassins Creed 2 *To many little details...* NOTE: ACTUAL STORY POST WILL FOLLOW THIS POST! |

OOC: Yeah was sick all week so I never got a chance to update and tell the story. Current location: The city of Remus ![]() The port city of Remus is well know for being one of the busiest port cities in the world. It has long been the centre of trade and social and cultural movements. It is run by several noble families and merchant empires. IE: It's Venice. GM: New years celebration was in full swing in Remus. Brightly coloured fireworks shot up into the air and lit up the sky as revelars danced and drank in the new year. You could not go ten steps without walking into some drunk poet or lute player but many did not care, as they where thankful to have a night of celebration. They did not realize something was off when the fireworks had stopped firing, they did not realize something was wrong when a orange glow flared up to the north. Only when men clad in black armour and flanked by twisted beasts did the screaming start. "DEMONS!" The call went out. "DEMONS ARE ATTACKING!" Now what do you do, dear players? Do you help rally a defence against the encroaching demonic hordes and possessed men and risk it all? Or flee safely amongst the chaos? OOC: Yes I know, short. Here just put down a post describing where your characters are at at this moment and I'll handle the rest. If you have any questions I'll answer them in the discussion thread. |

The Frari Church. The rounded walls around the altar shone with light from outside, as party goers walked about with torches and other lights. Inside, it was empty, save for a Father and a hooded man. Swiftblade sat with his hood up, and his sword on his lap. The majestic painting, Titan's Assumption, stood before him on the rounded wall's centre, lit up by candle light. Swiftblade had his fingers clasped as he rested his arms on his lap, as if he were praying. But he wasn't; he was not a man of God. Instead, he had come into the church to rest and think. The city of Remus was hyped up with the coming New Year. And for the man sitting in the church alone, save for the Father who walked about muttering phrases in italian to himself, this year was the same as the last, save for the chance of new lands. He had never been to Rome before; that's where Swiftblade was headed. Yes, Rome. The great city that was renowned for it's ruins, and great colosseum. He'd be there soon enough. Yes, soon enough... ((Small post, but I don't completely get what we're doing.)) ...Rin Edited by Rin Seiko, Jan 11 2010, 11:06 PM.

Fredric had come to Remus for an assassination. He had come during the new years festival to use the festivities as a cover. Earlier on, he had located his target, and "accidentally" bumped into him when he was carrying his food, and had slipped a drop of poison into his meal. He had watched from a roof at the man, until the target had dropped over, shaking madly, and then stopped. Another successful assassination, and none the wiser. While it was an obvious assassination, no one would suspect Fredric of anything. He climbed down the side of the building opposite of the congregation. Afterward he had scaled the church to watch the fireworks. |

RELIGION:![]() The Church of the Holy Maker is the most universally accepted religion in Lorlyn, with millions of followers. It believes that there is a single entity, Called the Maker by the common folk but referred to as The Guardian, The Eternal Watcher, The Great Protector, The Vigilant One, The Nameless God, The Silent Altruist etc. It is said he empowered the first Paladins and Templars during the dark ages to fight the demonic hordes. Since then his religion has grown to titanic proportions, absorbing many smaller religions into it. It is said that these gods from the absorbed religions become his Archangels, standing by the Vigilant One in his eternal campaign against the demonic hordes. It is unsure where The Vigilant One came from or even really who he is. Some say that he was the first god, risen from his slumber to save his beloved creation. Other's say he was one of the old gods from the dark ages who cast off his name and title to defend all of creation from the demonic hordes. The more cynical say that he is only the personification of faith who's actions are only to continue his existence. These origins are debated about constantly in the church's hierarchy. "The Vigilant One" Though there are numerous dark sides to the Church of the Holy Maker and it's numerous spin-off church's the two tenants of The Vigilant One are largely unchanged and held up above the other tenants. All are welcome to join by the Vigilant Ones side. The demonic hordes will be shown no compassion, no mercy as they are purged. These tenants are frequently expanded on by The Vigilant Ones follower's, both for good and ill. *More to be expanded on later* Swiftblade: The father wandered off into the shadows, leaving Swiftblade to his thoughts. Some moments passed in silence, with only the occasional drunk revelar jeering his way past the windows. This silence was broken however by a muffled grunt of pain coming from the bowels of the church followed by the sound of wet metal being dragged across the stone floor. A shadow suddenly darted into view of an armoured figure raising a blade above Swiftblade's head... Fredric: Like a second sun a Firework exploded directly above Fredrics head, temporally blinding and deafening him. As Fredric regained his senses a creature began to lift itself onto the roof. It's huge gaping mouth painted red with freshly spilled blood. ![]() Martin: The armoured men where armed with halberds and large axes, the black metal coated in blood. The creatures where goblinoid (The one shown above). They where feasting on some unidentifiable meat, taking a break from the slaughter their companions where engaging in. One of the goblin-like creatures was munching on a human skull, picked clean of meat. A tiny human skull. They do not see Martin. OOC: I apologise for the short undetailed posts. I'll try to make it up in subsequent posts. Edited by Immortalblade, Jan 13 2010, 09:33 PM.

Carrion was in watch when the attack happened. "Everyone to the gates!" He shouted, trying to get some resistance in the gates to buy the yet not going evacuation some time. He gathered around 80 soldiers, most of them still shocked by the attack. "If they come through these gates we shall make them pay for every inch they gain. We will not stand down, we shall raise our swords, our shields and spears,This is your city, fight for it!" After this little speach he got his helmet on, and awaited for the gates to be rammed out. "Make a semi-circle quickly!" The gate was serrounded by a wall of spears and sword ready to tear upon the enemy. Then the gates fell. And deamons sprang from the opening. A few came directly towards Carrion. He charged signaling some to go with him, but making the rest do a defensive circle around them. Carrion got his sword through 2 deamons, slashing his way fowards.. |

Martin unslung his rifle and took careful aim at one of the black knights (what I'll refer to the armored figures as). He took aim from a prone position on the balcony he was on and sent a .74 caliber silver-plated lead ball rocketing towards the base of his target's neck, a definite weak spot in almost any armor. |

The church stood silent like the stone from which it was carved, and the creatures inside of it were of like. The Father moved on from the main room, and Swiftblade listened to his footsteps in the gathering darkness, as the candles worn their way slowly down their wicks, struggling for life. Tap... Tap... Tap... Shlick, grunt, flop. The strange noises rang out in the man's ears like a captain's battle horn, and he sprang to his feet, sword in hand. Tzzzzzzzink. A metalic object was dragged over the church's stone floor. Several candles, whether from a slight breeze or having finally reached their wick's end, died. The room grew darker suddenly, the only real light coming from the church's massive windows. Swiftblade readied his sword, holding it with two hands. "Who goes there?" No answer. "Speak now, or I may sever a limb!" This time there was a reply. A figure sprang from the shadows, looming above Swiftblade. In what little sight the man could muster through his eyes revealed only a large silhouetted figure, raising what was, in Swiftblade's mind, a sword. From many a fight with bandits, brigades, wolves and other creatures of the forest, Swiftblade had learned to react when it is needed. And this he did, for took a quick step at the figure, hefting his large sword, and swung with the might of a bear. ...Rin |

Black Knights/ Demon Knights:![]() Demons often lack a physical form to enter this world. They try to possess anything material in order to directly affect mortals. This often however results in the demon possessing something immobile or recently deceased, its power drastically reduced and its mind broken through the ordeal. These demons become the servants of more powerful demons and forming the cannon fodder of a demonic horde. Black knights are not those demons. Black Knights are men who have allowed/ forced to have demons to possess their body and successfully merged the demon with his soul. This creates a new entity with all the knowledge and experience of its originators but without any sense of mercy or compassion. They exist now only to feed and to serve the most powerful of demons. They also gain frightening regeneration abilities, meaning one must either destroy or damage the brain or spine or pierce or smash the heart in order to kill them. Immolation or anything else that can do catastrophic damage to them also works. Due to their nature it is not uncommon for them to be leading lesser demons or the most powerful of them to be leading demonic war bands. Their armour is always possessed by lesser demons and therefore unwearable by mortals without possession taking place. Swiftblade: The knight just managed to get his sword down in time to parry the blow. Despite the massive weight behind the swing the knight only backed off a little. The knight retreated backwards a few feet out of Swiftblades range before lunging, trying to swing his massive sword into Swiftblades weaker left side. OOC: Combat action, small updates should be expected. Martin: The bullet did not pierce the armour yet had enough force behind it to stun the knight, sending him backwards gasping in pain. The other knight looked around, unsure of who had shot at his companion before barking to his demon underlings "FIND HIM!" The demons complied and started scaling the roofs, one getting dangerously close to Martin, yet it didn't seem to have detected him yet... Carrion: The two goat-like demons backed off, sporting deep but not incapacitating cuts. One managed to get a strike into Carrions shield before retreating. A splash of blood suddenly washed over Carrion as a guard to his right was cleaved in twain by another one of the goat demons. The demon bellowed it's challenge to Carrion before being cut off by a halberd to the head. The owner of this halberd yanked it out of the beasts head before casually impaling another on the sharpened bottom end. The heavily armoured figure, his tattered bloodstained tabard identifying him as Sir Orland Venerator, Guard captain of Remus then shouted over the growing chaos "CARRION! GET TO THE GATE HOUSE AND LOWER THE PORTCULLIS WHILE I ORGANIZE THE GUARDS!" A demonic dog like creature then leaped on him, trying to tear out the Captains throat. "GO! QUICKLY!" the captain managed to yell as he shoved his hand into the demons mouth gripping and yanking out its tongue before kicking it in the gut and ramming a dagger into its soft neck. At the same time another of the goat demons bellowed its challenge to Carrion. Fredric: The demon screamed an unearthly curse as the blade bit through its flesh and bone. It glared at Fredric, holding the bleeding stump of its arm with one hand while swinging wildly at Fredric with the others. At the same time the clash of metal on metal rang out from the church below. The new demons you are currently fighting: Swiftblade: Spoiler: click to toggle Martin (Also including the multi-limbed goblin creatures): Spoiler: click to toggle Carrion: Spoiler: click to toggle

Martin silently busted a gut laughing to himself, wondering how the hell the black knights could have missed the large cloud of smoke emanating from where he fired. Deciding it was best to relocate, he moved around a corner of the balcony and used his acrobatics to scale onto the rooftops. He jumped to several new rooftops, taking extra special care to avoid being spotted by the pink horrors (those multi-limbed critters are based off of them after all). He snuck up on one that was out of sight of the others, promptly delivering a step kick to its spinal column and punching it in the back of its head with his gauntlets. Quick, efficient, and silent. |

Swiftblade's powerful attack served only to slightly stumble the odd, large, armored man. In retaliation, it swung to his now open left side with unnatural speed. Desperately, Swiftblade attempted to parry the unyielding blow. Yet it was just that; unyielding. The enemy's claymore, much larger then Swiftblade's, was undaunted by his attempted block. Though his attempt saved his life, as the flat side of Swiftblade's claymore slammed into his side, and from the force of the blow, picked him up off the ground slightly, carrying him over a pew or two. With a grunt, the man landed. He stood quickly; weakened but not undaunted. Adrenaline pulsing through his veins like fire, Swiftblade jumped off a pew he had landed on, roaring and bring his sword down over his head with all the might he could muster, aiming for the weak armor, or he assumed weak armor, at the neck of the knight-like creature. ...Rin |

OOC: That's a wonderful thing to know mckinnon94 Swiftblade: The armoured figure was not fast enough to deflect the blow, lifting its blade only up to its chest before Swiftblades claymore impacted his shoulder. The blade bit into the armour, the gorget funnelling the blade into the base of the neck and absorbing most of the impact yet not enough to prevent the blade from embedding itself into the knights shoulder blade. As the knight gasped in pain, its voice sounding as damned as the creature was its left hand twitched and loosened its grip on its sword, causing it to lower its weapon. The creature, knowledgeable of its sudden weakness suddenly kicked out with its right foot, hitting Swiftblade square in the chest and sending him backwards, his blade ripping out of the creatures shoulder. The creature then adopted a more defensive stance, his blade being positioned to better parry any attacks from the left side (but leaving his right side exposed). Fredric: The blade struck true, embedding itself up to the hilt in the creatures grey matter. At the same time the clash of metal below was punctuated by a sharp demonic cry of pain, probably from the companion of the demon Fredric had just killed meeting unexpected resistance... Carrion: Carrions blade had punctured the creatures side, causing it to stumble and trip. While Carrion was busy shouting to his men the goat demon climbed to its feet and punched Carrion in the back, sending him face first into the blood soaked pavement. The creature then raised its waraxe above its head (slower then usual due to the wound in its side), bellowing its intent to perform a coup de grâce... Martin: OOC *flimsy justification*: There's alot of smoke from the many fires started from this attack. The creature choked out a death cry as its spine and skull shattered before falling to the ground, convulsing and twitching in its death throes. The other demons heard the noise and rushed to see what had happened to their companion while on the ground the injured knight coughed and sputtered, yet seemed to be recovering from the wound while its compatriot began to scan the roofs for signs of movement. |

Martin jumped off the roof and into a street on the other side of the buildings, using them to keep out of sight of the knights. He then went around behind the two as they were looking towards their demonic minions. Martin did a quick gesture with his hands, dropping a sanctuary enchantment on himself (in other words, it's the priest version of invisibility, as long as he does no offensive magic for those unfamiliar with it). He promptly moved right in front of the unwounded black knight, aimed his pistol right through the eye socket of his helmet, and let the thing loose. His sanctuary promptly ended, revealing himself with a muzzle flash and puff of smoke as the shot moved through the knight's eye slits on his helmet. |

For a moment, Swiftblade feared his sword would be embedded into the creature's neck. But as it kicked out in panic, the two-handed weapon was ripped from it's flesh. As he fell to the ground, sword skidding just within reach, Swiftblade coughed, dazed. His sudden weakness was overlooked, however, as the armored man shifted stances. It became open on the right side, however ready to defend it's weakened left side. Swiftblade quickly scrambled up, readying himself for a counterattack. But, it did not come. The knight didn't seem eager to open itself up again. It also seemed to know that the man it was fighting would come to him, which was true, for the moment. For Swiftblade could easily see this was becoming a loosing battle; if something did not happen soon, he'd either end up dead, or running for his life like a coward. One was hardly better then the other. And now the man stood, claymore in hand, as he studied his foe. The huge mass of metal and plate was fearsome to look at, and it's eyes glowed red with some unnatural life. Blood, which in the small light appeared black, trickled from it's left shoulder, rolling down the huge armor. It pooled on different parts of decoration, which covered all of the armor it seemed. And of its weapon; it was huge, taller then Swiftblade. It was massive, metal, and could break Swiftblade's sword in half, should a powerful blow be struck from both sides. It was a wonder his sword wasn't shattered yet. Finally, the man saw a weakness. Stepping backwards a few paces, looking as if ready to charge, Swiftblade quickly dropped his sword. He wasn't surrendering, however. No, for he pulled out his bow with quick speed and notched an arrow, and aimed for the other armor's gap of the right shoulder, and he let loose the arrow. It flew straight, though it's truth was yet unseen. And as this arrow flew, Swiftblade picked up his sword and charged, looking quickly to see which should would become open from his arrow, and lunged for which he deemed most open; whether it was or wasn't vulnerable. ...Rin |

Carrion regained his conciousness quickly, for the hit was quite strong. When he opened his eyes, he saw an axe going up. He immediatly realised that it was the goat monster, so he grabed his sword and pierced his stomach. But without respite, he got up, removed the sword, and decapitated the monster. Filled with blood, but not his own, he called for the taking of the gatehouse again. |

Fredric kicked the demon off of his blade, it was covered in something that smelled very similar to a chamberpot left out for too long. He heard the sounds of fighting underneath his feet, another demon. He looked at his soiled sword, and grunted in disgust. Surveying the surrounding area, he saw no demons close enough to make a difference, and he jumped off the church, and wiped his blade off in the grass. While not completely clean, it would have to do until he found a source of water, and the smell would be less distracting while the sword was sheathed. He did so and pulled the mechanism on his wrist to expose his hidden blade. He then ran to the front of the church and opened the door to see if he could help in any way. He saw a demon covered in armor fighting a man, who while slightly shorter than Fredric himself, was far better built. Fredric ducked into a row of pews and started to make his way closer to the demon, doing his absolute best not to be noticed by either demon or man until either the demon was dead, or Fredric could jump up onto the Demon and stab it in a weak point in it's armor. He got down close to the ground and began to crawl under the pews. |

Fredric and Swiftblade: The arrow struck true, tearing through the shoulder and embedding itself up to the feathers. As the knight grunted, its sword beginning to hang loose from its hands something completely unexpected occurred. The armour shrieked in pain. The knight seemed to be distracted by this, allowing Swiftblades claymore to rip into its side. This however opened up Swiftblade to a punch the creature thrown out in desperation, hitting with the force of a hammer it pulled Swiftblade and his claymore from the knights side, probably cracking a rib at the same time. The knight then hunched over breathing heavily, its armour oddly enough clean of blood and its back to Fredric... Carrion: Carrions call for help was answered by a loud horn blow and the pounding of hooves on stone. With a hearty battlecry mounted knights surged over the demons, their heads and limbs flying off as the knights charged, blades cleaving through the unsuspecting demons. The demons however quickly regrouped, meeting the horsemen with pikes and halberds. The horsemen started to scatter, one being impaled through the chest and falling from his horse directly in front of Carrion. This horse however was commandeered by Sir Orland, who yelled to the Horsemen "TO ME! TO ME! CLEAR A PATH TO THE GATE HOUSE!" and promptly charging into the throngs of demons, the surviving horsemen following behind him clearing a path as demons where impaled on their spears and crushed under hooves. Martin: The demon shuddered, falling to its knees before pitching forward. Its armour began to boil and froth, slowly melting the body away the body. Almost like it was eating it. As the armour disappeared into the shadows a sudden blow swept Martin off his feet, The injured knight apparently no longer injured. |

"Ow. Fuck. Ow," thought Martin as he was knocked off his feet. He got back on his feet and did a leg-scissor takedown on his opponent. He then jumped up on top of the knight's back and used his purifier gauntlets to give several solid blows to the back of the head to stun him before finally attempting to snap the knight's neck. |

Swiftblade stumbled to the ground, his blood-soaked claymore clattering onto the cold floor next to him. The huge creature was hunched over, appearing mortally wounded. Yet as the man sat up, fumbling for his sword which his hands did not find, a stab of pain as sharp as the arrow which now resided in his foe's flesh. Something in Swiftblade's torso had broken, most likely a rib. Unable to properly deliver a finishing blow, the man once again grabbed at his sword. This time his cracked and bleeding hands found it, and he clung to it dearly. Stumbling to his feet, he limped off to fetch his bow, which he had dropped earlier. "And now, fool, speak your name so I may know who has tried to defeat the mighty Swiftblade," The words came out raspy, aided with a painful cough. Swiftblade readied his sword, limping towards the metal mass, hunched over and appearing in pain. With the last of his anger and adrenalin, he raised his sword as he approched from behind, ready to deliever the killing blow. ((Don't have a spell check on at the moment. Bite me.)) ...Rin |

Fredric saw the knight's back to him, and he sprung into action. He jumped up onto the back of the pew in front of him and ran across them. When he was close enough, he leaped onto the back of the knight and readied his hidden blade, with his left hand grasping the armor of the knight, Fredric moved his arm with the intention of stabbing the knight several times through the neck. |

OOC: Post John Fredric and Swiftblade: The knight replied with an unearthly shriek of rage, lifting its claymore up to deliver a killing blow. The knights bellow was cut short however by Fredrics blade being repeatedly thrust into its neck, severing its spine. The red lights it had for eyes dimmed as it slumped forward. Then a sudden echoing scream of rage came from the armour as it seemed to melt into the floor, disappearing into the tiniest of shadows. Now the two men where left alone together, the sounds of slaughter being replaced with the clash of steel. What shall they do now? Martin: The knight went limp as its spine snapped before it to was forcibly dragged back into wherever it had came from. Martin had little time to catch a breath however, as teeth suddenly sunk into his shoulder and four small fists started beating him from behind. The demon pets where not pleased with their masters deaths... |

Martin grabbed two of the arms of the pink horror and used them to flip the thing over his shoulder. He jump-stomped the foul beast, his feet impacting with a sickening crunch. Martin then snapped his fingers, releasing a charge of healing energy into himself. As soon as that had finished, Martin procured his last loaded pistol and fired another silver-plated ball at one of the other pink horrors.

As the strange knight like creature vanished, Swiftblade stared at the newcomer. Gasping for pain, he exhaled "I had him." The man collapsed onto his knees, gasping for air. The broken rib was making it painful to breathe, and Swiftblade was in no shape to protect himself from the possibly hostile new comer. Using his sword as a makeshift crutch, the man hoisted himself up, still gasping for air. "The hell... Are you... and was... that?" |

OOC: Chrome you really need to post. Swiftblade and Fredric QUEST UPDATE: Assassin and warrior looking for healer. Swiftblades is suffering from severe internal injuries and requires immediate magical attention. He will need Fredrics help in order to find aid before he goes into shock. A pistol shot rings out from outside, signalling a potential source of aid (Pistols are expensive and rare after all, anyone who has one probably has some way of healing themselves or knows where to get such aid). Carrion: Carrion charged up onto the battlements as the horsemen cleared away the demons, which was largely devoid of the demonic hordes (Which where currently streaming through the open gates). Those that where there where busy fighting with the remaining archers (and badly losing compared to their brethren below). The gatehouse oddly enough had its door wide open, with a robed figure with a winged imp sitting on its shoulder completing a spell of some kind. The figure did not notice Carrion at first, its Imp minion on the other hand "MASTER!" It yelled in its shrill voice "INTRUDER!" The next thing Carrion knew was him flying into the chest of a demon (sending said demon screaming over the ramparts), a large dent in his armour and a deafening roar coming from something on the other side of the wall... Martin: The demon crumpled, the bullet ventilating its skull. The last demon took one look at its companion before screeching in fear and scampering off before Martin could kill it too. The street then got quiet, broken only by the clash of metal slowly receding towards the gate and a roar that bored into Martins mind coming from that direction as well. The Gothic steeple of a church rising over the nearby houses (looks about 2 blocks away) the only landmark of note. |

Fredric looked at the man who had been fighting the knight. His rib had obviously caused internal bleeding. Fredric found himself torn, he had hoped to finish the demon and leave before he had to help further. He looked at the door to the church, and almost left the man behind. At the last second, he had a change of heart, and went back. He walked swiftly over to him. He stood a few feet from the man. "I'm going to help you get out of here. At the moment, it's obvious that in this battle, we are on the same side. Now let's go." Fredric said, and offered a hand. |

Martin: The church door was thrown wide open, casting light into the shadowy building. The first thing Martin noticed was a statue of The Vigilant One, placed in such a way that the most light would always fall on him, creating the illusion that the statue is alone amongst the shadows. As Martins eyes adjusted to the light the relief's of the various Archangels and servants of The Vigilant One appeared on the walls, telling of their eternal struggle against the demons. Yet despite these details of victory the normally well lit hall was dark, long shadows playing amongst the light. The battle the angels where fighting suddenly stopped being triumphs of light over darkness and seemed to get more desperate until it became impossible to tell who was winning. It was then Martin noticed that the Vigilant One had been defaced, splattered in the blood of a bisected priest at his feet. Loud coughing and voices suddenly drifted in from deeper into the church. Martin summoned a werelight to illuminate the inside of the church, shedding light on a wounded human using his claymore as a crutch, the other wearing black robes. "It's about time I found some others; the whole city is going nuts." He examined the wounded man further, and then sent a charge of energy through his gauntlets into the guy, closing his wounds and repairing any damage. "You'll still be a bit dizzy from the healing. OOC: Also this post is to address an issue I have with your post. Rest of the update will appear after chrome and Rin post. Note: WARLOCKS ![]() Despite their great power most demons are not all unkillable sins against reality with thousands of dripping maws and glistening gore stained teeth with mad rolling eyes, whose very presence corrupts the weak and drives even the greatest of heroes insane. The vast demonic hordes are often made up of minor creatures, collecting together under a strong leader for a chance at slaughter and pillage. These Warlocks are often mortals with powerful magical abilities who seek nothing more then personal gain from controlling these demonic hordes. Some solace can be taken in that these warlocks rarely accomplish their dreams, being devoured by the demons they control or turned into twisted abominations, mindless servants of the Arch-demons. The only time warlocks have ever been seen working with more powerful demons was during the Age of Chaos. Carrion: Carrion however was stopped short from his planned action by the Imp summoning a wall of fire in front of his master, preventing Carrion from getting close. (The warlock barely ducking in time to avoid the thrown shield). The Warlock then began to channel demonic energy into him, preparing a spell to obliterate Carrion. Nearby several rusty spears, small flags tied to their shafts began to rattle in their casing as a massive creature took its first steps into the physical world. The creature dwarfed all who stood around it, its body looking like it would barely fit through the massive gate of Remus. This creature then raised its head opening its mouth wide, displaying row upon row of glistening serrated teeth, the rancid smell of its breath spreading across the battlefield like a great plague. And then it roared, a twisted sound blasting from its maw that even the most ignorant of men knew had not been heard by mortals for ten thousand years! ![]() |

Swiftblade, stood, confused. Almost randomly, a man had showed up, and repaired his wounds. Normally, those would have taken weeks to heal, if they healed at all. Now, he was suddenly as fine as he was twenty minutes ago. Twenty minutes before hell, that is. "Who are you?" Rather then answer his savior's question on name, Swiftblade decided to give him a question. By what the man was implying, Swiftblade guessed that he wasn't the only one to be attacked by a strange, demonic like creature. (weak sauce ftw) |

Fredric looked at the man who had just come in and healed the other man's wounds. Though this is not what concerned him the most. What concerned him was that this was obviously a member of the church, and Fredric wasn't exactly liked among the church, considering that at this point he definitely qualified as a mass murderer. So he had to either come up with another name or tell a half truth. "It may seem rude, but I'm not going to risk telling you my name, you would likely lop off my head if you knew, so I won't give you a good reason. For now be satisfied that I'm human and not trying to kill you." |

Martin, Fredric & Swiftblade: At that moment the demons roar carried over from the gatehouse, its voice re-vibrating inside their heads as the icy grip of fear clamped around their hearts and stole their breath away... OOC: Your not dead, just winded. Carrion: The massive shape of the demon rose above the parapet, it's roar beckoning even the mightiest of demons to suddenly flee or to throw themselves to the ground in awe before returning to the fight with a vigour that began to turn the tide of battle back towards the demonic hordes favour. The demon then turned and began to squeeze its massive frame through the open gate, a task that would almost seem comical in any other situation yet filled the defenders with a fear that crippled them in ways even the strongest of blades could not. This demons presence however aided Carrion as the Warlock turned to regard his summon, only to catch Carrions thrown spear in the face. As the Warlock slumped and gargled the little Imp took one look at Carrion then at the giant demon trying to force its way through the gate and gulped "Ehehehe. Well I'll just throw myself out." It said before disappearing in a puff of smoke. Carrion was suddenly alone on the parapet, now left regarding the shattered lever of the portcullis... |

Fighting for his frozen breath, Swiftblade followed after the doctor. "Your a man of the church, clearly," He gasped, stumbling slightly. "Then tell me this; did God decide to kill us all?" Screams could be heard in the distance, and the air felt humid and tense. To Swiftblade, the whole world seemed to have gone to hell. "I'm not the greatest at climbing," he admitted. "Where do you plan on heading?" If the whole city was in damned, then, wouldn't the rest of the world be? Where would they go? A million thoughts echoed through the man's mind, almost all of which would likely go unanswered. Swiftblade sighed, fearing the possibilities. |

In one of the windows of the gatehouse, Carrion saw a massive figure trying to get through the gate with great difficulty. The gate seemed to be smaller yet he was slowly carving his way through. "The city will be devastated is this gets through. But no living man can kill this thing with his sword. There must be another way..." Desperately looking for something, he remembered the Porticullus' properties. A gigantic SHARP gate, capable of destroying most rams because of it's great strenght. He promptly ran up to where he could get the best shots, firing his rifle into the nearest hairy goat man in sight. Martin then stairway-to-heavened on a demon that was about to cleave another soldier with his axe. Bone snapped and flesh was torn apart as the heavy portcullis tore through the demon, completely crushing its shoulders and almost completely severing its head. A wave of black blood surged from the wound, splattering those nearby and befouling the air. The demons turned, dumbstruck that one of the most powerful of their kin could be killed by a heavy iron gate. For a moment nothing happened, everyone was in shock. Then the guard captain Sir Orland Venerator, bleeding from a wound to his shoulder walked right up to a Black knight standing awestruck by the corpse of his fallen leader and drove his halberd into the creature, impaling it through the heart. Martin used the demons' sudden bemusement to backflip away from the mass, putting distance between himself and them as he started an ominous chant, weaving his hands through the air as he did so. "BURRNN IN RIGHTEOUS FLAMES!!" roared Martin as his gauntlets suddenly flared up. He raised his arms to the sky as a massive column of flames roared down into the midst of the demons (it was aimed so that it would not hit the guard cap'n). OOC: Right, those who have not posted get maimed Martin: Seeing the incredible skill of the monk the demons took up a defensive stance, keeping their spears positioned so if Martin where to grab one the other demon could easily impale him. However at that instant as demons and man stared at each other, waiting for one to make a move a wet sticky sound came from behind Martin where the demon he had slain lay. A small puddle of the massive demons black blood had squirmed its way over to the fallen creature. The blood on contact with the fallen creature had instantly wormed its way into the demon through its gaping mouth. Now the demon began to change before Martins (and the very surprised Goat-men), its flesh boiling as bone and organs began refashion themselves into a form few sane men could hardly imagine. Ichor began to disgorge itself through the demons mouth as its body was being rend asunder by whatever poison the large demons blood had contained. Finally the spasms stopped and a creature, so perfect in its iniquity emerged from its flesh cocoon. The strange beasts which had just then joined the fight where not as assumed, demonic reinforcements. Fredric and Swiftblade: The blade did not bite far into the strange beast's loathsome hide and it simply knocked Fredric back with its tail and slammed its large claw into Swiftblade with bone crushing force, sending him flying. Carrion: The beast reached Carrion before he could react and bit hard into Carrions arm, its razor sharp teeth piercing both flesh and bone. |

OOC: Damnit even if I have to drag your characters kicking and screaming by their intestinal tracks I will continue this RPG! Martin: Martin had only a few moments to stare at the burning hearts he held in his hands before he was swept off his feet, carried by a blow to his midsection by the creature that had birthed itself from the other beast-man. The creature then regarded its prey, Martin getting a view of its gullet that few living entities had ever witnessed. An honour he would be most certainly be regretful of. Yet it did leave itself open... GM: The battle continued to rage, both sides gaining little ground. The beasts, seeded by the Great Demon and birthed from the dead of the demonic and mortal alike where wrecking havoc on both sides of the battle. Yet, from behind the human lines a great horn blared, filling all mortal hearts with strength and courage while causing the demons and the monstrosities to stumble back, filled with divine fear. A triumphant cry of "CHARGE TEMPLARS! IN THE NAME OF THE VIGILANT ONE PURGE THESE MONSTERS FROM OUR LANDS!" echoed across the battlefield followed by the sound of hooves on stone as a blinding light seemed to come charging out to face down the demonic horde. Yet it was not the mounted guard of the city that appeared, light gleaming off their shining armour. Instead it was a dozen maybe more armoured figures lit with a light that seemed to be channelled directly from the heavens, dispelling all the darkness around them and protecting those illuminated from harm. They tore into the demonic hordes, as though such a battle was an annoyance rather then a struggle. For the first time that bloody night the mortals defending their city, their homes and families tasted the most bitter-sweet and cruel of feelings. Hope. OOC: The battles not done yet by the way. Anyways some information. The Church of the Holy Maker/ Vigilant One etc etc is very, very, very, VERY militant. They are very large and have numerous organisations working for them. The Templars are just the straight up military might of the church (Disregarding the thousands of other military group they have) and protect its holy sites/ kill bad guys with overwhelming military might. The Templars themselves are divided up into chapters, usually based in certain cities each with their own customs, laws etc. However they are fanatically loyal (As a whole, individuals usually have their own opinions) to the church. The Inquisition however usually operates with individuals or small groups to carry out their orders and therefore are most commonly used to deal with the rabble as its in the Job description to not just beat everything to death with their own spines but to get to the heart of any Demonic corruption. The Inquisition is usually divided up into various jobs or methods of dealing with corruption. (As a note I need help inventing what these are, so PM me with ideas. Also Kranford, need advice how to work your characters class into it) tl:dr Templars are blunt instruments while the Inquisition is more surgical in their methods. I'm ripping off warhammer so much its not even funny anymore... Now Post! Edited by Immortalblade, Mar 21 2010, 02:06 AM.

The man flew into the air from the blow, spinning once or twice. As the ground came quickly, Swiftblade was barely able to land on his feet. He slid across the ground for a moment, before falling over. Pain quickly creeped into the man's mind, blocking thought. The left arm hanging limply at his side, broken, Swiftblade pulled himself back up. An odd creature with wings and claws looked at the injured man. It seemed almost bird like, until it let out an angry growl. For a moment frozen in time, Swiftblade studied it. Firelight illuminated its purple skin, and many eyes reflected the same light. Swiftblade spat blood out of his mouth, coughing. He might have punctured a lung, too. But with one arm broken, the huge claymore would have no force if one was to strike with it. Instead, a single shot pistol replaced the weapon. A shaky arm aimed the inaccurate gun at one of the demon's eyes. A shot rang out, and a puff of smoke exited the gun, along with a bullet. |
