(Damn thing crashed on me. Now I get to retype the whole thing) So with only two RPs up that even get any posts in a month, I think we need some new meat hung up. So if you have an idea or suggestion, let us know. In the mean time, I came up with a few ideas from different genres to get us rolling. Futuristic setting: Space "This is the Gold Dust galaxy. With the three empires always fighting, there's always plenty of loot around. Hell, just the other day we found a crippled warship just floating around. Our cargo is completely full with stolen military equipment. So as you can see, we get a lot of cash here. So, do you want in or not? I don't give a damn what space ass nation your from." This RP will be a space pirate one. The players will be in a crew(two crews, if there's enough), and have an NPC(or player) rival pirate crew. Basically, you'll go about being a space pirate and whatnot. Though there is a legend of a planet filled with an ancient space nation's treasure and technology. Being a pirate, you want it. Modern setting: Conspiracy God "What are we? Is god even a humanoid? If we didn't build the pyramids, who did? I... I'm so lost in all this. I wonder what the others think... what the hell have I gotten myself into?" This one, specifically, I think would be interesting considering everyone's different opinions on religion. Basically, the players will be tossed into a conspiracy by fate(god, dice roll, chance, whatever), and through it follow the path of ancient Templars, eventually ending with meeting some interesting people. It'll be a religion based RP, where different religions will come into play, in the end we'll all learn which religion was right.(That is, in the RP. Not realistically. If you'd be offended by this, then don't ask to be in it. Duh.) Modern setting: Inasnity is a habit "March 5th, 2013 Dear Diary, Jane is dead. We don't know who did it, but it was done by a bullet to the head. While we were investigating the scene, a tv flickered on. An image of an apple was there, and after a moment, floated up and melted into the background, which faded into an old painting we've confirmed as "Idun and the Apple". There was some garbled words after that. We have no idea what that was all about, but I think it's a clue..." This will be a murder mystery RP. The players will either be part of or working with a detective group, and will try to find an insane murder, who spends his time leading the group on. Insanity is a habit, right? Keep in mind that this will require some intelligence, and a lot of google working. If you can't figure things out, you probably won't have any fun watching everyone else figure stuff out, while you sit there looking dumb. Renaissiance setting: Wine of a friend "Ah, what a wonderful time I live in! I have my own city, my own little country, the wine is good, and the women are better! The only damper on my life I have is that damned rebel group... Once they're gone, I'll be living in my own heaven!" A cruel tyrant has taken control of the country side, in what is now (?). The players will join a rebel group, and fighting to bring down the tyrant. But that isn't the hard part. After that, everyone gets to decide who takes his place. And that much power isn't given up easily. Basically, when you get to choose the new ruler, everyone who was friends in the rebellion is now enemies. Since you probably want the power for yourself, you'll have to get the other players to either support you, or eliminate them. Yes, your character will probably die in the second part of this RP. I think this would be the funnest... Fantasy/Midieval setting: To claim a artifact; to claim a country "I've heard tales of an ancient chest, containing the crown of an ancient kingdom. As legend has it, whoever wears the crown will bring the kingdom to life once again. I was always entranced by this tale as a boy, and now that I am old enough to lead my own life, I am leaving first thing tomorrow. I only pray I don't run into a troll as soon as I leave." This one is pretty straight forward. In this you'll end up with a group of adventurers, and be on a quest to find said crown. Along the way, naturally, you'll have some good old adventures. In this, you'll have free reign over every mideval fantasy race and what not. Be a troll demon cow on fire, and fight against the evil smurfs, or something. This is what I've come up with. If you have an RP you would like to do, or if you want to do one of the ones above, then lets up to it. Share ideas, add to others, and think of your own; lets just get an active RP up and running. ...Rin |

Here's an idea I've been developing lately. It's an RP based on an old game from 1996 information on the game For some more backstory, check this youtube link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4jPEd8Ku3zI Strife was a fun game with a unique build to it at the time. Nobody had been this innovative before. A little while ago, a conversation with Mike got the gears clicking, and I'm trying to figure out how to get this off the ground. Since this will probably involve multiple player characters, anyone playing will be soldiers for the Front (ie the good guys). I'm open to suggestions on what I should tinker and tweak. Note that this is still in its infancy. Here's what I currently have. Strife classes Pick one weapon that you are proficient with, except in the cases of soldiers (who pick two), and those with a hyperspace arsenal. The current weapons are unavailable to starting characters: Mauler, Sniper Rifle, mini missile launcher. They will be acquired later. At the end of each mission, characters may choose to further their weapons proficiency with a particular weapon (and thus do more damage and be more accurate) or acquire a new piece of bonus gear. Some pieces of gear will require more missions to be completed (such as the hyperspace arsenal). -Rifleman/CQB You are the backbone of the Front’s resistance fighters. You aren’t impressively stealthy like the infiltrator or obviously destructive like the heavy soldier, but you know how to dish out punishment; and nobody is your equal when it comes to unleashing death a stone’s throw away from your opponent. Proficient with- Punch knife, pistol, Shotgun, Assault Gun, Mini-Missile Launcher Bonus- Versatility is your forte. You may choose two main weapons as opposed to having your main weapon and pistol. You also come equipped with flashbang grenades and a flash visor for room takedowns. Starting bonus gear- expanded magazines or white phosphorous shotgun shells. -Heavy soldier Where others see a crusader, you see a heap of scrap metal. Where others see a wall, you see a door. Your heavy weaponry causes all sorts of mayhem on the battlefield as you target the Order’s armor and destroy it with contemptuous ease. You don’t concern yourself with rotten little peashooters like the pistol or assault gun. If it weighs less than 10 pounds unloaded, you don’t use it. Bonus- You know the weak points on all Order robots and power suits, enabling you to do more damage to them than somebody else normally would. If you have enhanced targeting optics, that translates into even more damage. Proficient with- Assault cannon, Grenade Launcher, Mauler Starting bonus gear- metal armor or hyperspace arsenal. -Infiltrator You are well-versed in the art of the sneak. Where everyone else makes a ruckus, you’re nothing more than a light breeze. The Order’s lackeys never see you coming, and certainly never hear your weapons silence their troops from long range. Proficient with- Punch dagger, pistol, Crossbow (both bolt types), shotgun, High-powered sniper rifle Bonus- Can backstab Acolytes and Templar with punch knife. All ballistic weapons carry silencers. Crossbow has a scope, also has a grappling hook launcher for scaling walls and reaching high places. Also carries smoke grenades. Starting bonus gear- Improved Targeting Optics or shadow armor -Officer Your time with the Front has hardened your resolve and your will. When the grunts need someone to turn to, their eyes find you. Your calm under fire and sheer badassitude grants others the will to keep on fighting, supposing you let some enemies escape the wrath of your assault gun. Of course, don't be surprised when Order forces aim their guns at you more often... Proficient with- Punch Dagger, Pistol, Shotgun, Assault Gun Bonus perk- Authority Equals Ass-kicking- You did not reach your rank by resting on your laurels and pushing pencils. No, your rank came at the happy price of dozens of Order corpses, and your experience has paid off in spades. You are able to fire longer bursts from the assault gun with far greater accuracy, and can pull off Guns Akimbo with a pair of pistols without suffering the usual problems (ie not being able to hit the broadside of a barn). You are also able to requisition AP-Incendiary rounds for your assault gun. You also have a humanized version of Ceramite Armor, granting you a better degree of protection. Bonus equipment- Teleporter beacons or metal armor -Field medic You are a welcome sight on the battlefield, as you bring brave souls back from the brink of death to fight once more. You are not as skilled in fighting as others are, but you fulfill a more important role: that of a life-giver. Proficient with: Pistol, shotgun, Assault Gun Bonus Perk- Aside from reviving fallen team mates back into the fight (it does take some time, however), the medic wears an environmental suit and is able to pop up a deployable cover barrier to protect himself and another from enemy fire from their front. Bonus starting item- Trauma suit or field surgery kit. Bonus items -Teleporter beacons- An officer only needs to pop one of these on the floor and a six-man squad of Front soldiers will teleport in, courtesy of Justin and Feris. There’s a chance that they’ll send along a medic or a heavy soldier too, sometimes even both. -Hyperspace arsenal- you are able to pull your weapons seemingly out of nowhere, to the bemusement of others. You are able to carry all weapons that you are proficient with without having to drop your other main weapon. -Shadow Armor- rare armor used by select groups of acolytes and some front troops too, it makes the wearer partially invisible to all enemies. This includes robotic enemies, as it interferes with their sensors. The effect lasts 2 minutes. -Expanded magazines- These expand your ammo capacity significantly, reducing the amount of times you need to reload in a firefight. Ammo capacities for all weapons are doubled. -Improved targeting optics- Enhanced optical and targeting software locks into the biomechanical signature of Order troops. You will have a much easier time spotting Order troops, and their weak spots are highlighted, showing you where to shoot them for improved damage. You can also see through the effects of shadow armor. -Leather armor- Standard issue to front troops, it soaks a moderate amount of damage, but fails under prolonged exposure to enemy fire. An upgrade is recommended when possible. -Ceramite armor- The armor used by acolytes, it provides a healthy medium between leather and metal armor in terms of protection and cost. -Metal armor- This is some premium gear right here. It soaks more damage than standard leather, and can take more punishment. It costs an arm and a leg though. -Environment suit- An armor addition that renders the wearer immune to radiation, toxic waste, and flames. -Trauma Suit- An armor addition that is used by medics and sometimes by acolytes, it gives a dose of healing chems whenever the wearer is wounded. It holds 5 doses. -Field Surgery kit- This is a godsend on the battlefield. It brings soldiers completely back to full health rather quickly. It carries five uses. I'll go into detail on the weapons later if this gets off the ground. |

Normally I'd say that sounds interesting(which it is) and I'd like to do it, but nearly all of the RPs we've done before have been "war" role plays. And so far, none of them have really gotten that far off the ground. ...Rin

Dragon Age RP. It has the BEST medieval fantasy setting you can ask, and it's quite developed. Known Playable "for us" races: Humans: Most common race, they are pretty much balanced. There's 8 possible places of origins for the Humans, The kingdoms of Ferelden (Based on England); Orlais (France); Antiva (Italy); Nevarra(Spain); Rivain(African like kingdom); Anderfels( The Holy Roman Empire, Aka, Germany) and the Tevinter Imperium (Byzantine Empire). Elves: There are only some remaining elven clans who roam the land at their will. The rest, live among the humans in something like ghettos, called Alienage. They have grace like all elves do, but these ones are deadly with their bows. Along with humans and qunari they are the only playable species who can master magic. There's two origins for The elves, The Dalish Tribesman or the City elf. (dalish tribesman will be a deadly warrior, while the city elf will have more cunning that the rest of the elves.) Dwarves: Stoic and strong, resembling stone itself. They are the most veteran warriors, as they have a constant war with the darkspawn who threaten whatever is left of their once great underground empire. They have no connection with The Fade ; and therefore they are immune to the effects of lirium overuse. Qunari: These people come from lands beyond the ocean, now they have settled in the northern island of Par Vollen. They have advanced warfare technology, such as gunpowder. They also have magic, but the Qunari mages are so important to their people that they serve as leaders instead of soldiers going for battle. They are strong, tall and implacable, making them an almost unstoppable force. Classes: Warrior: Focused on strength and health, they can specialize in Two handed weapons, the use of the shield and the handling of two weps. Sec classes for Warriors: Beserkers: killing machines, they use their rage for greater strenght but they lower their defences by doing so. Reaper: You inspire fear, and make your enemies flee the battlefield. You'll intimidate people whenever you go, this is more of a social skill rather than anything else, but it will prove to be useful when the time comes of dealing with NPC's. Templar: You focus on destroying rebel mages, or Apostates. Because of that, you have an increased defence against magic. Champion: Natural born leader, you inspire courage and honor. If you fight, any other NPC companions will fight even harder. Rogue: They focus on stealth, they have less health, but they can lurk in the shadows. You can steal without being noticed, pick locks and the rest. You can specialize in the use of the bow, two weps and crossbows. Specialzations: Bard Assasin Duelist Ranger Mage: You use your connection to the void to rain death upon your enemies, however, long years of study have weakened your body, and you are quite frail. You will have to be protected in order to survive. Specializations: Arcane Warrior Blood Mage Shapeshifter Spirit Healer The gm in this game will act as the director, but it will have full control of the world and it's npc's. I will later include a map, and an explanation to what's happening in Thedas (the continent). Edited by J0hn185, Dec 13 2009, 09:18 PM.

Why not continue with what we've already got? Immortalblade's RP ("The Beginning is the End") is very interesting, and if it was posted in more often it would skyrocket. I feel very guilty about my lack of posting in it recently, but if we could get it back off the ground I would certainly rejoin the fun. Speaking of which, I thought my RP "Epitaph"/"Chorus of Whispers" was going pretty well, and certainly not a very typical RP. It, like Immortal's, is something different, rather than the rather cliche RPs that have sprung up lately and have been suggested here. I personally hold no interest in a Dragon Age RP, sorry John. I love BioWare, but I can't stand these cliche fantasy stories. |

In my humble opinion, I think you guys would want to try the strife stuff. There's a few things I've got to get taken care of before I can say I'm ready on my end. I'll have to add in a few new things of course, but I have the general part of it dealt with. Let me know if you guys are interested and I'll pop up the thread. |

Indeed. I mean, honestly, I love those kind of RPs. They just don't really get that far, though. We did try a murder mystery type thing before in the form of Death Note, and that did get going, but then I uh.. *cough*... killed it. I don't know entirely how a "quest" sort of RP would go, so I tried to come up with a few ideas of that. Then there was one or two times when we got a cool world set up, but there wasn't really much of a solid story line that got us going on it, which helped bring those ones down. A lot of our interests don't really meet up at a single fork in the road. That makes it difficult to find the right thing we'd all be interested and excited with. ...Rin |

we can either refire the Renaissance RP or try out the Strife idea. both involve medieval technology side-by-side with firearms. I'm getting more and more ideas for how the Strife RP should work. I'll need something from Mike to make it work, and I'll have to do a few things with AutoRealm, but that shouldn't take long. Of all the RP ideas, I'd say mine is the most ready.

ok. completely off topic idea here: I'm experimenting with videogame software. perhaps I could turn one of these RP's into an RPG? not like WoW, but I could see what we come up with. on a side note, I'm thinking something more... interdimensionally futuristic for a later roleplay. As long as I get a good outline of the story and technology available, (That one Immortal's running, Renaissance fair, never saw a good short-of-it style writeup. Then again, I never asked. Never was big into spell-type stuff, unless I was given a little liberty for the whole "spell-like ability" definition. Spells are so trite.) I'm more than willing to give anything a shot.
