This is the character and discussion thread for the zombie apocalypse RP.

Character sheet:

Name: You don't have to give this out in character
Appearance: Unlike in other RP's, your appearance here can affect your experience in the RP, I'll let you figure out what that means. Long hair=something for zombie's to grab
Personality:
Training: This is important, there is a HUGE difference between how well a soldier aims compared to a civilian. Most of you were probably average Joes/Jills before this happened, you probably can't aim a gun very well yet. You can still use blunt objects about as effectively though. Martial arts help too. But those kinds of people probably haven't devoted time to learning to shoot, get my meaning?
Armament: What you've managed to scavenge for yourself to fight with.
Conditioning: Well, you'll run faster longer if you've trained yourself to do so, but in all honesty, how many people work out everyday to be able to flee from hordes of undead? Not many. The vast majority of us don't work out everyday. You know what we call those who managed to survive the initial infection period? Lucky. Do you know what we call those who don't start working out when they can afterward? Bait.

There's the character sheet.

NOW FOR THE ZOMBIES. There are 2 main types

Slow zombies:
These are what most people think of when they envision the living dead. Slow, groaning, walk in strait lines towards their dinner. If you couldn't get away from one of these out in the open you DESERVE to be a zombie. The real danger comes in tight enclosed areas, they move slow and quietly, so you might not know there's a zombie right around the corner until it's teeth are chomping on your jugular. They are also EXTREMELY contagious. Just getting scratched has the chance of infecting you. Most are at least, you could call a zombie that's been really torn up a slow zombie, but they may not be as contagious. Who's gonna take a close enough look to tell though? I mean come on.

Fast Zombie:
Well if slow zombies are so easy to escape from, how are there so many zombies? Easy, there are also FAST zombies. These are zombies who are pretty much still how they were when they were alive, except fully in tact, as their immune systems were slightly stronger at the time of the infection, they're still gonna try and bite into you, and that will make you turn, but you could drink these fuckers BLOOD and not get infected. They have to bite you. That makes them a LOT less contagious than slow zombies. The only problem is that it really doesn't matter. You think you're a fast sprinter? You ain't got nothing on these guys. An average fast zombie will sprint at you at about 15-17 mph, faster or slower depending on the zombies physical condition. They don't feel pain anymore, they don't tire, they just want your flesh in between their gaping jaws. They'll run full speed, tackle you to the ground and start in on their fleshy feast.

~~The Virus~~
I won't go into the specifics, but if you get bitten and walk away, in about 6 hours you will be dead, in another 2 you will be reanimated by the virus. You have 1 hour before you get the fever that starts the process. Use that time wisely. vbang

I'll use myself for a while, just for fun.

Name: Mike P. Vorontsov

Appearance: Medium dirty blonde hair. Relatively large, at 6'2" Strong leg muscles, but weak heart due to fast growth. worked out about three times a week before the infection set in, sometimes more. Can sprint faster than most people, but only for shorter periods. A weakness comes in the form of his glasses. Without them he can still see, although blurred.
The zombies are usually not smart enough to attack his glasses directly, but shit happens.

Personality: Quick to jump to conclusions, but slow to communicate them to others. Introverted. Naive and sometimes slow. Good natured and trusting. Honor bound to his promises, and expects others to be as well. Does not put a high price on human life. Everyone dies. Fear of death is fear of change.

Training: Practiced wushu before the infection, although not too intensely.
Knows how to handle a sword, staff and fight with bare hands. Knows how to fight at knife range, although better prepared to go against living humans. Hunted a bit. knows how to strip clean an AK and several other weapons, as well as to shoot a firearm properly and accurately. Learned basic tactics through paint ball and other tactical games. The biggest challenge was adapting them to the abilities of the new, inhuman enemy.

Armament: Multiple switch blades, A dagger, pump charged flashlight as well as a battery power one, a .22 rifle with 1500 rounds as well as his staff and sword were all at his house at the time of infection. He carries this in his black school backpack. He wears his Russian army camo he bought for paint ball under his tactical vest.As the most dangerous part of the disease is not even the zombies, but the infection, every part of his body is covered. A ski mask covers his face except for his eyes. A metal reinforced paint ball mask covers his eyes and face. Gloves, tall boots and fairly thick clothes are a necessity.Viruses die out in the cold, and Mike is making his way up north.

Conditioning: Before the infection, worked out 3 times a week, sometimes more. Is better adapted to cold weather than most people.

Good character, approved. But just a note, I'm going to put you into circumstances that will FORCE you to drop most of that stuff. Be prepared to keep that which is most precious to you, cuz you are gonna need to run, and 40 extra pounds of weight is *snicker* DEAD weight!

Why so serious?
Name: Dr. John Nowakowski
Appearance: A tall, thin man with unkept brown hair, grey eyes. Face has sunken in a bit do to lack of food and has a beard do to being so long without a razor.
Personality: Quiet and generally unassuming though can become obsessive when given a task. Quick too temper but tries to keep his mouth shut. Slightly unhinged and slightly sadistic after a month of daily struggle for survival and loneliness and may say odd or random things in the company of others now but generally will try to team up with others, even for a short while to ensure own survival.
Training: John before the zombie outbreak worked in a quantum physics lab as an engineer, repairing and fine tuning the sensitive equipment and was briefly involved with the Large Hadron Collider. The ridiculous amount of training required to be an engineer in a quantum physics lab has given him a supurb knowledge of metal working, electrical engineering etc etc as well he had a deep fascination with all things mechanical (Lets just say for sake of simplicity rewiring or repairing a car or fixing a gun is preaty easy for him). He also regularly went camping, so he has a basic survival skills (including first aid). He also was a huge anime fan and cosplayed occasionly in elaberate costumes, so he has a good idea on how to stich together clothes and stuff. He also has a PhD in Theoretical physics (he did build the machines to study it). This however gives him no benefitial skills other then making him a doctor (not the medical kind).
Armament:
-Weapons: A 9mm pistol scavenged from a random dead guy.
A 12-gauge shotgun
A "Trench Knife" Trench Knife forged out of metal scraps. The blade is about the length from a normal persons elbow to the tips of their fingures. Blade shaped for rudimentary slashing but mostly as a stabbing tool.
Swiss Army knife.
Ammo for guns but a realistic amount. (IE about 9 clips of 9mm and 25 shotgun shells)
Hand twistable flashlight.
Clothes:
John wears scavenged heavy leather clothes. He wears several layers of clothes scavenged together over a police bullet proof vest with large hiking boots and thick leather gloves. Small aluminum plates have been tied around his legs, arms, back and chest (ie the stuff you put on sheds but cut down alot). He also wears a skimask with a bicycle helmet. Basically he looks like a random raider from fallout or a member of the Steel Legion from 40K.
Conditioning: Has muscled up a bit during this time period but still preaty skinny. Has grown used to slugging around abit of weight though as he rarely drops his equipment.

OOC: Yes he's based off of Gordon Freeman, just without the improbable weapon skill.

Name: Vick Sharp

Appearance:
Posted Image
Short (5" 8'), thin, and not overly muscular. He has an almost childish appearance, however ages into around twenty five. He wears a cargo coat, with an olive green color. The pockets are normally filled with junk, ammo, and snacks. His pants are slim fitted, and he wears red running sneakers. Leather gloves and boots are always on him, along with a pair of goggles. The goggles, well, shield his eyes from flying flesh, and when have another pair of tinted lenses for welding. Each of his crowbar sits in a leather sheath on his left side, his pistol the same on the right, the knife tied to his leg, and his rifle slung over his back with a leather shouldstrap... thing... you know, the thinger you can do that with... ;_; As for his pack, its also on his back. When he has it on, he'll carry his rifle.

Personality: A "Look out for yourself" kinda guy, he isn't going to run into a mob of zombies to save your hide. In fact, if it came to it, he'd much rather shove you out to get eaten, then put himself in a similar position. The only real reason he'll ever save your hide is because, well, more guns equals more kills. However, apart from his Me over You thinking of living, he's usually pretty nice. For the most part. The infection has obviously put everyone on edge, which includes Vick. He also has a habit of collecting junk, meaning his shelters usually begin to fill up with interesting or useless objects. The plus side to this, is that it isn't too hard to make something useful out of what he brings in. Loves soda more then he should. Grew up in downtown New York.

Training: Before the infection, he worked in a welding shop. There, he spent a large amount of time building random objects, as he was interested in being an inventor. This skill has proven useful many times in the now infected world. As for gun training, he didn't have much other then the occasional fun trip to the shooting range, where he fired a scoped rifle, a .22, and a pistol. This was rare, however, and was done perhaps twice a month, if that. His aim isn't amazing, but he usually hits what he's aiming for. A hobby of his was light jogging, which gave him a little endurance, if that. Vick also did some heavy lifting in the welding shop, though not much. Stronger and more althetic then an average person, but if only barely, basically.

Armament: A crowbar, a small survival knife, a simple pistol that fires .30 caliber rounds. Tends to carry up to 150 rounds for both of his guns, though if he's on a short trip from the shelter, only a hundred at maximum. For long trips, he'll carry around a large crate that goes on his pack, that can carry up to 500 rounds, if he seriously wants to haul that much around. Usually, it has more like 300, which still weighs a ton.

Wooden Slug
Held together with spit, grit, and a little bit of glue. Actually, not really. Its just a .30 caliber rifle with a wooden finish, and a attachable scope. It has a 10 shot clip, and can kill a zombie up to 120 yards, if you manage to hit it.

He also managed to stick togther a solar powered flashlight, that can also be shaken, not stirred. Wasn't too hard to make; mainly he just put a small solar panel on it. Well, basically.

Alright, characters approved.
I'll be using myself. Minus my last name of course

Name: Christian (refuses to give out last name, not like it matters now)
Appearance: Big boned, but could stand to lose a couple of pounds. Is about 19, about half way through his year in it. Grey eyes and brown medium length hair. He has a small scar just left of his chin going from the bottom of his lip to the bottom of his chin, nothing to dramatic, but still visible. Pronounced purple circles under his eyes, and large hands. (Yes, this is a pretty accurate depiction of me.)
Training: Nothing extensive, knows how to hold a gun and fire it without hurting himself, as well as loading them. He has studied tactics to use, and has mentally prepared for the zombie apocalypse. While he still needs to really learn to fight, he knows the theory of all of what is happening.
Armament: He grabbed what he could and bailed out of his home. These items include a semi-automatic hunting rifle along with 2 extra cases of ammo (not large ones, each may hold 100 7mm bullets, he can hold one in his hand) and a crowbar. He specifically grabbed the crowbar for the extra value as a tool.
Conditioning: He has a bit of experience in long distance running, nothing impressive but he can do it, and upper arm strength from doing physical labor. He lived in cold places his entire life, so is very well conditioned to cold.

FYI, Legoland 12342 will function as a second GM so the both of us can play and keep each other in check.

I'm pondering on either dropping in a descendant of Karras or that crazy kooky Kranford with a modified storyline and no Zoe. Note that Kranford won't have all his explosive gadgetry, just the essentials.

The Count
Jack Crawford (AKA Kranford the Butcher)
Appearance- Kranford is well-muscled, 6'4" tall, and weighs about 210 pounds. He has black hair, is clean-shaven, and has blue eyes. His Hair is also buzzed so that it cannot be grabbed. He is very fit, and is incredibly dexterous as well. Given the messy nature of the virus, Kranford tends to dress in sealed combat fatigues (includes gloves and boots that have been duct taped. He wears a helmet and gas mask when outside, so as to keep mosquitoes and other virus carriers off of his skin.) He also carries a combat vest under his fatigues, mostly to help him deal with less-than-savory humans he meets along his journey. Beneath the sleeves and legs are parts of a titanium shark-proof chainmail that he scavenged from the lockup of a large aquarium after the infection broke out. Suffice to say, he has much protection when the walking dead come walking after him.

Personality- Kranford keeps his promises and is loyal to people that he trusts. If they betray that trust, they’ll probably be reduced to a crumpled heap on the floor though. If someone should attempt to harm someone he cares about, then may God have mercy upon their soul, as Kranford will hunt them down and kill them mercilessly.

Training- Kranford is a fully-trained US Army Ranger, and is an excellent shot at most ranges. He’s also an expert with explosives and mechanics, as seen by his recent modification of his weapon into a .223 pistol. He’s pretty mean with the use of his machete too.

Armament- .223 pistol: Kranford’s recent magnum opus, he finished it and had it broken in just before the zombies and jumbies emerged. This weapon looks much like a large pistol from fallout, but with a foregrip, collapsing stock, lasersight, scope, and twin magazines (to enable quick reloading). This weapon carries 30 rounds per mag, and is capable of burst fire, usually 3-5 rounds, and is accurate up to 250 yards.

Pump-action M-79 grenade launcher- A recent acquisition by Kranford from a US army depot, Kranford uses this for tight quarters combat and group dispersals. When fighting in close, he loads the weapon with buckshot rounds, basically turning it into a giant shotgun. He also has standard HE grenades for dealing with tightly-packed groups of the walking dead.

Machete- A sharp machete with a heavy blade, this is useful both for braining a zombie that gets too close and for hacking your way through the underbrush. Kranford’s machete blade has a black coating on it so that it doesn’t rust and doesn’t reflect light.

ATV- Kranford's ATV is able to carry Kranford, his weapons, and his supplies with little trouble at all and no reduction in speed, thanks to the modifications he's made to the engine.

Conditioning- Given Kranford’s ranger training, he’s not as susceptible to harsh environments as most other folks, and can go for longer without sleep or food if the need arises. He also has more endurance when running.
