Okay, my last few attempts at an RP have... well failed. Maybe I was trying for something to narrow. NOW I am going with one of the basics, something everyone can enjoy. Something character driven yet still with a primary goal for all. In this case, survival. Survival from ZOMBIES. Yes, I know it's easy to do but I don't care. I've been wanting to do this for a while, but waiting for someone to do it. Then I thought, maybe I have to be the one to do it. SO, I wanna do a zombie RP, and before I make it, I want to know who wants in. |

I'm pulling out all the stops, if you get bitten, you may have an hour before you die and reanimate. Basically enough time to run away if you want to, or commit suicide.

Wait, can I convince Mufa to join, just so that I can intentionally get bitten and have the joy of biting him myself when the time comes? All the while destroying any zombie that tries to take that moment from me? If so, sign me up . If not...I might play anyway, although I'll be much less enthusiastic...~Bob |

To lighten things up, I have considered allowing people to play as zombies once their character is dead. And enjoy all there is to being a zombie. Which would be moaning and decaying. ... Oh, and consuming the brains of the living. |

Ahem. Well, my good sir, I happen to have read the great book of "The Zombie Survival Guide", which has taught me quite a lot about zombies. On top of that, I have also been to two zombie survival lectures, on how to survive said zombies. So, I ask you. Can these zombies climb? ...Rin |

Simple objects yes. They can climb ladders, slowly but they can. Since I assume you've read the Zeds page, Fast zombies can run fast enough to "wall run" a certain distance up a wall. If they get up far enough to a window to get a grip, they can pull themselves in. Slow zombies are too weak physically to manage ANYTHING other than shambling, grabbing, and biting. |

A'ight. And it IS head shots only kill, right? Or, destroy the brain, basically. Or burn em'. You get my point. By the way, Mike. Switchblades and a dagger won't really do anything against a zombie, unless you've had some badass training with them. And, you have 1.5k bullets, which weighs in around fiftyish pounds, give or take twenty. THEN, you have your heavy clothing, a sword, a staff, a tactical vest, along with heavy clothing. All in all, that's a shit ton of weight you have. Unless your a hardcore marine, which you aren't. you are going to get REALLY tired, REALLY fast. Just, as a warning. :|When it comes to zombie crap, I am very realistic. ...Rin Edited by Rin Seiko, Oct 5 2009, 06:39 PM.

Wait a minute that wouldn't make sense. A shotgun blast to the chest would effectivly splinter the spine and much of the shoulders as well as screw up any organs. Even if it wasn't dead it would be effectivly immobile... (Yes I hate "Shoot the head to kill zombies" thing that always gets done.) Speaking of which is this going to be dead space-like mutated freaks of nature zombies or just regular old moving corpses? |

Wasn't there a way to trick the zombies into thinking you're one of them. I remember watching a movie where one guy covered himself in zombie blood, and the zombies wouldn't attack him because of his smell. So, I have two questions: How do zombies detect humans? ...and... Can we trick them into thinking we are zombies to safely pass by? |

According to the handbook, zombies can smell you from up to a mile away, as all their senses are heightened. Humans tend to rely on sight more then anything, but zombies rely fully on everything. Also according to the handbook, zombies can always smell you, despite what you may have covered yourself in, and seem to be able to also sense you. :3 ...Rin |

By the way, Mike. Switchblades and a dagger won't really do anything against a zombie, unless you've had some badass training with them. If the zombie has no jaw, it cannot bite. If a zombies head is separate from its shoulders, it cannot move. It is true that I've only been taught how to fight another person with a blade, but most of the basics apply. Also, shrubbery/woods/wires all need cutting and a switchblade is a light and compact option. And, you have 1.5k bullets, which weighs in around fiftyish pounds, give or take twenty. I can carry 50 pounds fairly easily. It's a matter of how easy it is for the zombies to detect me, so the ratio of running to rest. THEN, you have your heavy clothing, a sword, a staff, a tactical vest, along with heavy clothing. Remember that I based this character off myself, and I HAVE carried all of this on me at the same time. for days. Enjoy having a drop of saliva knock you out and kill you as I march forward. You're not going to outrun fast zombies anyway, and slow ones can be outrun with a light jog. Therefore, having ammo > being able to run at full speed. A tactical vest weighs surprisingly little, as well as the sword. It's not meant for chopping wood, it's meant for cutting flesh. and this flesh is deteriorating, making it easier to cut. If it's only been a month, it's very possible that cars and such still run. |

But cars make loud noises that attract even more zombies. ;_; Still, 1.5k bullets would have to be lugged around in a huge metal case. That's a huge amount of ammo for anyone to carry. ...Rin |

"But cars make loud noises that attract even more zombies." If you have a broken car. And if you go by the "they can sense you in a mile radius by SMELL rule, it don't matter. ";_;" I agree. "Still, 1.5k bullets would have to be lugged around in a huge metal case. That's a huge amount of ammo for anyone to carry." It is a Very large amount of ammo. The bullets themselves are very small though. Google it. They're not .50's I'm lugging around. Make sure you don't throw away the clips though. You don't find guns and ammo on the ground like in L4D, you know... During a safe period, reload the clips from the crate. And another thing. You are trying to apply The survival guide to this. That won't work. The guide is designed for slow zombies. fast zombies change EVERYTHING. EDIT FOR MOAR TIME All right, so the usual human speed is 5-7 mph, running. Say you're really, really fast. Say you're sprinting. You MIGHT go 12 mph. A fast zombie goes 15-17 mph. That is on AVERAGE. So then, a FAST "fast zombie" will go 20 mph or more. You can't outrun that. Even if you could run like that, you'd get tired. Zombies don't. ever. That is why they're zombies. "But"-you say-"That makes them severely overpowered!" And you'd be right. But that doesn't mean we don't have hope. Why? Because zombies are, although tenacious, relatively fragile. And a bullet goes significantly more than 20 miles in an hour. The zombie survival guide is based off slow zombies. when faced with those, it is best to run lightly, but travel fast, because they'll catch up to you during your rest. That would be the best possibility for escape, but, alas, The fast zombies make this impossible, because they're just faster than you can ever hope to be. Then, it makes sense to walk as a moving fortress, stopping only in a more fortified position or with a person watching. You'll still be faster than slow zombies, as even walking will do that. However, if a fast zombie shows up, you've got nothing on him except to aim and shoot. And for that you need ammo. Even if you have perfect aim, which no one does, you'll need as much ammo as zombies. Edited by MikeV37, Oct 6 2009, 08:38 PM.

The character I submitted is a rip-off too...Don't want to give away the details until he's approved, but he's a very well known character, and is, on occasion, seen in zombie lore. You really need to work at getting the situation across. And the zombies are charging him, not us. Why are you runnign towards the source of the noise? Observe the diagram: Red is where IO want to go Blue is where we are going pink is where Kran is green are zombies Black are roads. With your plan we would have still had to fight zombies... I suppose that I should have been more clear. There is no foliage in this area, it's right outside of town, it's pretty much a plain. No matter where you run some of the zombies are going to see you and chase you. I had myself run towards Kranford because anyone with enough guts to drive and ATV in a zombie infested world must be well armed, or at least better than my character. |

"be well armed, or at least better than my character." Or stupid. Like the average person. I can't imagine Gordon freeman panicking. I wouldn't Maybe I imagined your character much more rational than he is. "the zombies are going to see you and chase you." Not if they're focused on killing Kran. While we stealthy make our escape. So, out of the two options you gave us, you chose to fight and I chose to run. Why did immortal choose to fight while screaming about fighting. But if we're on an open plain... there really is no option to run. Well damn. |

But I shouldn't have to Wikipedia my surroundings in an Rp. Even if they exist in our world. Nonetheless....
