EDIT: Apparently no one is interested in this. Feel free to delete this whenever possible, mods. A kind, aged face looks down at you, smiling. With a soft wave of his hands, he proceeds down the open door, and into a large hallway. "Welcome, to the hall of heroes. Here, are the heroes from old to new. Strange to normal, dull to cunning. From the magical, to the swift. And here, you will find your place one day, little one..." A tale of heroes: A Fable 2 time set Role Play. In this game, you will be free to move where you wish, and be what you want. If you wished, you could be a jumble of live and magical rock, brought to life by an ancient Warlock. You could even be armed with a golem-sized blunder-bust, capable of firing fiery magic out of it. Or, you could be a thief. The quickest, nimblest, and sneakiest the world has ever known. Though perhaps not the greatest fighter, your large amount of expensive throwing knives; which you bought with all of your gambling money; makes up for your lack of skills. This is a Role Play designed for you to choose your destiny, and shape the world around you. Cutting down a tree across a road could slow merchants, causing prices of a nearby town to increase just enough to create debt, gangs, and an increase of hookers. Don't go thinking this is a free-roam role play. No, it is not. Though you may be able to go about your own quests and life for a time, you will inevitably be grappled into the hold of The One. AKA, yes, there will be a story line to all of this, depending on the amount of people who join. If there isn't enough; well, I have another Rp I could try out. This is subject to updates and editing. Please express any interest in joining, or any thoughts. This is mainly an attempt to quell my anger at Microsoft for their cheap CDs(cough broken Fable), and to get some GOD DAMN ACTIVITY ON THIS BOARD. Note that this IS a work in progress. Edit1: The Age and Progress System. All players will, like in Fable, start out as a child, and progress. Don't worry; you won't be stuck as a child for long. Depending on the speed of posting, it could be anywhere from a couple of hours to a week in Real Time. Everyone will keep ageing through certain time periods for a number of times, until they all are at least to the age of Twenty Three. So, everyone's character profiles will progress, rather then being made up at the beginning. And if you don't want to be an old fart, try to not start at the very beginning as twenty. That might suck. A lot. Edit2: How the Age System Screws With Your Head While progressing as a child to adult, every choice you make WILL influence your older self. So as a child, WATCH WHAT YOU DO. Everything you want about yourself as an adult MUST be at least partly mentioned as a child, teen, ect. If it is not, it must be pointed out in the Adult Profile. Example: "Chestle Redsword hated dogs. He hated ALL dogs. Why? Because they were mean. And stupid. Once, in his years as a child, he was bit by his neighbors dog, and again by his own. So angered by this, he poisoned both dog's foods, though felt a little guilty after." Yes, that was a crappy writing. But that's not the point. See, this was told as an adult, although as a child he did not actually RP that part. Every choice is like a scar as a child. Look the the above writing about Chestle. Now, notice how much he hated the dogs, and how he poisoned them rather then throw a rock at their heads? This indicates that he will likely become a Chaotic Neutral Cunning character when he is an adult. He hated the dogs enough to kill them, but not with brute strength. He did it cunningly. If he wanted to do it magically, maybe he could have taken his Room Leader's spell book to kill the dog. Or, if he did it in a negotiating way, he could have tried to teach the dog to not bite him, and reward him when he didn't. He also felt a little bad for his evil act, but not too much, leading to Chaotic Neutral. But maybe he didn't want to be that, and just wanted to RP that he hated dogs. If so, he would have to alter part of this. Room Leader's? Yes, room leaders. As a child, every gifted child is taken to a nearby training home. These homes are not very large, but have only the necessary housing rooms. They do, however, own a lot of land, which is used to train the Gifted. These places, called Houses of the Gifted, or HOGs for short, make no real funding. They do not, however, pay any taxes to the local ruler. The HOGs are homes to great Gifted, who have taken their duty to train the next generation of Gifted. When a Gifted becomes old, it is their duty to train the next generation. It is not simply a call of duty, however. But we'll talk more about this later. Now, each HOG gives all its Gifted an after title. Such as "Tony Longspear of the Cloud Forest Gifted House", whereas the last pat of the name would be which HOG he was trained in. Each HOG has at least two rooms, in which the training Gifted sleep. Each room has a Room Leader, who is in charge of all the Gifted who sleep in his room. Some HOGs, where Gifted are sparse and far between, have only one Room Leader, and two rooms. Some areas, where Gifted are incredibly common, have many Room Leaders, and many rooms. There is an average of three Gifted per room. Sometimes more need to be squished in, sometimes there is only two. Room Leaders are usually Gifted who have come out of their HOGs, traveled around, and been unable to amount to anything. Some times, a Room Leader is simply a villager from a nearby town, who needed somewhere to stay. Either way, a Room Leader is a low status that few Gifted want to have. The Gifted Everyone in this RP will play as a Gifted. A Gifted is a blessed child, of whom has enhanced skills, sight, speed, endurance, thought, and in some cases Magical abilities. Though these Gifted sound common, they actually are not. There is an average of one Gifted per 200 people. This can mean that only one HOG will be needed for five villages.Every Gifted has a certain thing they are particularly good at. Most are unusually strong, compared to normal people. By this, I mean they could lift daddy at age two, which is when most Gifted's abilities begin to show.(this applies to magic, too. AKA, a baby able to create fire would likely be a Magical Fire Gifted) This is known as the "Light" period, at the HOGs, as their abilities come to light. However, to everyone else, it is known as the "Dulled" period. When a Gifted is found, the parents are likely to never see the child again. Even if they did, they probably wouldn't know. A down side to this, is, occasionally Gifted end up marrying their sisters/brothers who were not Gifted. The babies are usually killed, abounded, or are completely normal, and no one ever knows. Though, they usually end up as a bum for some strange twist of fate. Gifted do not pass on their traits. Being a Gifted is simply a chance. It has nothing to do with ancestory. A few things about the gifted: -Most do grow to be kind due to their HOG leader's teachings. Each HOG leader has different teachings. -An average person pissing of a Gifted isn't common, but doesn't always end well for whoever owns the nearest wall, object, or person. -Evil Gifted do exist. They are more powerful, yet cruel, and anger prone. A single evil Gifted could destroy a small village, if determined enough. -When the age of Sixty is reached by a Gifted, they become completely obsessed with assisting or running a HOG. It is simply one of the things that makes the Gifted tick. -Little is known about the Gifted. Anything could happen, or be discovered about them. -A Gifted that has recently left it's HOG usually moves on to helping people, doing paid jobs, becoming bandits or Mercenaries, and in some cases a Mayor, Lord, or King.
