Original Mod M51 (M1951) Parka. Date stamped 05 NOV 1952 These parkas are becoming increasingly difficult to find as they are the original Mod parkas made in the 50s and worn by the original Mods in the 60s. The Parka is labeled a size Meduim however, these parkas are always bigger than stated as they were designed to worn over military clothing. I would say the size is medium to large. I am just 6 foot tall ,and it fits me fine, has a bit of room in it width wise too. This is a prime example of these parkas, its complete with attached hood and shoulder epaulettes and the matching M-51 Mohair/Silk liner. I would say the condition is as near to perfect as you can get for these paraks, bearing in mind they are over 50 years old. It has had no patches sewn on it and there are no holes, rips or tears. All the buttons are there and all the press studs are present and in working order. All models of the M1951 fishtail parka are highly sought after today and are prized by both modernist connoisseurs and militaria collectors alike. The M-51 complete with all 3 parts and in good condition command handsome sums these days and the values just keep rising. Good condition complete M-51 fetch a minimum of £350-450 ($700-$900) and Mint condition or even Unissued Never Worn fetch a whole lot more. For mint or unissued expect to pay anything from £600 up to £1000 for a perfect example.
