Hey, so I've made a start on a possible theatrical show, to be presented sometime in the fall, say maybe October or November. And yet I'd like candid opinions, Leafs, on whether this is a) something you would be interested in performing in, if you have the time, and b) if not, then is it something you would like to see, as an audience member? I don't want to waste time on it (especially since it's taking time from East of Atalantë and other things). So here's the beginning, in a very rough, unpolished form (especially the opening stanza). It will be spoken with emotes by a narrator, and accompanied by music, of course.

Quote:

This tale, like all the tales of times of yore
must be imagined only and not known
for in the days before the moon and sun
who now among the living can recall and say
nay, either those who saw and know are flown
or those who tell can but pass on the tale
as they by their forebears did hear it told.

And so we players stretch our minds toward
a time when yet the people of the Valar dwelt alone
in Arda’s realms, though say of choice they dwelt
in Aman, westernmost and sacred land
ringed by the Encircling Mountains safe to hold
the plains of blessed Valinor.

O Blessed Land lit by the light of
Telperion of silver sheen and Laurelin of gold
whose fadings and arisings marked the hours of bliss
of those mighty and undying Powers.

A thousand years of these Two Trees the Valar dwelt
in Valinor beyond the ring of mountains high
and Ennorath, our Middle-earth in twilight lay
beneath the stars uncountable.
And hither Valar seldom came save only two:
Yavanna-- lady of the plants and beasts, her mind’s
inspir’d imaginings by Eru brought to life and set to grow within
the empty lands surrounded by the seas--
and her sister’s spouse, Oromë of the hunt, who dearly loved
her works, and sought at whiles to ride in forests wild
and wider than the friths of Valinor.

Then there will be a lament in the woods (Old Forest?) by Yavanna as she puts things to sleep, then Oromë will ride up on Nahar and tell her of the evil things he's been hunting. Then a scene in Valinor, with Yavanna and Oromë before Manwë and Varda and others of the Valar. Then maybe Varda telling of her plan to embellish the stars with dews from Telperion? And then Yavanna returning home to Aulë and finding that he's made the Dwarf fathers, then Aulë before Iluvatar, he returns to Yavanna, and her with Iluvatar ending with the Shepherds of the Trees... I'm not sure how far to take it, lol,

Your writing has just the right touch for an early Tolkien tale. It's obvious you have spent some time on this already.

I am willing to help in any way I can. I would be an appreciative audience as well. Who else would donate their time to this project?
