It's official, Elemmire met last night with a roster of: Hildinson our intrepid Guardian Dwarf, Alorwyn Industrious Captain of the Rohirrim, Maiwe noted Elven Champion. We gave certain parts of Goblin-town a lesson in why we sing better than the Goblin King! Next Saturday, we continue in Goblin-town if others want to join the crew. Level 44 to 49 are welcome. Saturday December 13th at 8:30 Server Time. We will be using in game voice. (I still can't get team-speak to work so far.) EDIT: I think I got Team-speak to work now. How do I find a channel to use? EDIT again: I decided to buy a 6 month rental. ... leavesoflaurelin.teamspeak3.com:7527 password=Elemmire We'll see how it works out for us. Merry Christmas Kinship! Once again Elemmírë meets tonight as a group to shatter the evil forces within Goblin-town. Levels from 44 to 50 now. I hope you will be available for some fun and a testing of our teamspeak server too. I'm learning the arts of a Champion, shing-shing. |

Saturday December13 Elemmire met to do book quests and the quests we held together. Only Alorwyn and Maiwe were available but they did well, both moving up a grade and getting stronger. We used Teamspeak and it turned out very useful to us and much clearer. Come join us next weekend when we meet at a later time. Elemmire will meet Saturday December 20th at 9:30 server time. |

Arhbaineth will be joining finally Some quest-notes: 1. There is the elleth-line that comes from Nogmeldir. It is to slay about 8-12 tempest wargs by the giant ruins in northeastern northern high pass, to find something of the elleth (her cloak), to do some brief running back and forth between dwarves, and then to defeat a warg boss in the giant ruins. Nogmeldir will then send us into the Slave Pens, the elleth is on a cave-level or so higher than the ellon and the goblin. 2. The Gloin Mountain's Throat-line is important to get ahead on before continuing on the wooden stakes and such. There is the initial quest to slay 12 goblins and find the Mountain's Throat. The second one is to find orders on one of the goblins in the first section of Goblin-Town. This is followed by a quest to kill 12 wargs in Goblin-Town. Then we unlock 3 quests, some of which involve the areas with the wooden stakes and the escape-line at large. 3. Another line, though more tedious, is the Bilbo-line. Bilbo sends us on a quest to discover the Black Crack, then another to see Dwalin in Thorin's Hall and Gloin at his stablemastered camp, and then I know a quest to find Gollum's Cave occurs at some point. I thought last week that Onyon might join the group, but then she was dissuaded by a certain Bounder due to a need for a shield maiden down the not so far road for Éclair. Sean keeps making noises about bringing in Talchar (RK, Dwarf), but I told him he's got to start at least saying hello to folk. *chuckles* I know some other Leaves folk are getting in position to join, and other fillers are dropping, so there might not be room. Down the road...if there is room...Willa is still hovering around 60. She's done a lot in Mirkwood, so she wouldn't be able to do the pre area of it. So if, and I mean if, there is room later on, I would be happy to bring her in. |

A report about Elemmire progress, followed by the introduction of a Choose Your Own Adventure concept. For those who missed last time, we caught them up in Jazârgund. After a brief discussion about furthering the Epic because Arhbaineth pointed out that we should be at a certain point for consistency's sake by the time we leave Durin's Way, we decided it was best not to do that without those missing. We then moved on to The Fanged Pit and did all the quests and explorer deeds there, also taking the back way to the First Hall to get the stable there. We wrapped the region by doing our last turn in back with Oxi in Jaz and then on to Sori (?) at the 21st. We decided that until we're all together, we won't fall down the well. As we were wrapping up, the long range picture for how Elemmire could progress came up, and Arhbaineth rolled out something that I then asked if I could share it with the group to help facilitate discussion, which he allowed. Hence, here I am posting about it. What he proposed has the potential to slam dance Elemmire into level 100 within (and this was a broad stroke guesstimate with lots of caveats) five to six months. It would require skipping a lot of content--entire maps, epic books, and quest hubs in many cases. It would also require choices that folks might vote on the against side, which he is both aware of and ok with because of two important bits I'll get to just below. Although his proposal has an emphasis on leveling quickly, it is a path that has many possibilities we could choose to do differently. Choices which could/would change the timeline further out, but at the trade-off benefit of whichever reason(s) which we based said choice. During the course of our conversation, I felt that much of what follows has to do with choosing the pace of leveling as well as content covered seemed to be the two core concepts behind his proposal. joy The two bits: He asked me to stress that what matters most is folks having fun, and choices being made by the group. I want to let folks know that he was very generous with his time and knowledge to outline the potential paths I will reveal over time so y'all don't get overwhelmed with so many choices--most of which we won't need to worry about until down the road--far, far down the road, past that little shack where the lass sells tasty tarts made with honey--and I am greatly appreciative of that and everything else we discussed tonight. Thankies, good Sir. I debated how far along to show to help folk get an idea, and was only going to post up to 5., but thought including up to the crossover would be a better frame of reference for someone who wasn't part of the discussion at that time. (FWIW, there are 40 items in the proposal.) So without further ado, proposed paths up to the crossover Moria/Loth/Mirk in epics and quests: 1. Finish Durin's Way. 2. Get caught-up on the Epic. 3. Decide whether or not to do Waterworks- group votes. Waterworks -can- be skipped in terms of exp. 4. Keep-up with the epics. ~~~ 5. Zelem-Melek. 6. Redhorn Lodes. Synchronize Epics with zones- don't let us move ahead or behind on the epic. --In other words, go do a zone when the epic sends you there. 7. Vote whether or not to do Flaming Deeps. 8. Nud-Melek. 9. Vote whether or not to do Foundations of Stone. 10. We should be at Book 6 by now in the epic, or have finished it. 11. Vote whether or not to do Mirkwood intro. Skip Volume II Books 7-8. 12. Do the Fanuidhol stuff in Lothlorien in case there is a leveling-gap. Vote whether or not to do the Ambassador Deed with the 3 Elf-reps. The most immediate decisions would need to be about 1-4, so what we hope folks will do is tuck those into their thoughts where there's room for some ponderage, and next Saturday, we can discuss this during Elemmire. I wanted to post about this now so folks would potentially have a week to let this ferment in their gray matter, rather than get slam danced in one shot like I was tonight. (Remember...40 items, and I only have one folk above the 60s, so most of what we discussed I should be considered as a blatent Champion of Newbs. Folks with more experience with the 65-100 content would probably not even miss a beat during the same conversation.)To perhaps help better frame the above, I thought it couldn't hurt to mention the following that was discussed regarding how this could unfold: - even if the group as a whole skips something, folks are free to do what they like outside group time to: swim in the Waterworks; find every last point of interest flag on a map; or single handedly feed every orc poisoned pie to earn those shiny slayer deeds. - the use or not of deed and rep boosters and destiny xp acceleration - why skipping certain things was to our benefit time wise--like not spending time grinding gray quests/mobs - which consequences or benefits are gained from which deeds/rep/etc. - time spent just traveling from Point A to Point B for certain things - if every character in the group was VIP (FWIW: we're pretty sure all but Arhbaineth who is Premie) - what might or might not be skippable depending on level at that time - how to avoid class deeds/virtues taking a hit from all the skipping - how if leveling is focus, deeds go to the wayside unless we meet another night just to deed (or pick a week for same) - how if leveling is focus, (RP) immersion is out the window - dealing with the across the board level inconsistency between gear and character level around level 85. - anticipated additions of content - how all but Talchar and Wellie are folks who have at least one 100 level character, so jumping about in the storyline might not be a big deal to those who do - rambles about book vs. game vs. movie, immersion, lore breakage, and related - possibly using skirms for level gap closers, pros and cons - trying to fellow together with forced solo content (especially epics) ~ I know this is a lot to think about, and folks might not have time to even read all this stuff. So if ya made it this far, congrats and thankies! And if I screwed anything up in my retelling, I blame the pigeons. Still, feel free to let me know, Arhbaineth. Very good. I should also add something concerning virtues: they are not as important as they used to be- save for certain ones. Pretty much, the only virtues you will want / need at the level-cap are those that concern tactical mitigation, physical mitigation, and resistances. But really, that extra 30-50 might from a virtue pales in comparison to that 121 might level 100 essence that you would put in the slot-armor. Most of my characters do not have high-level virtues- but they have mitigations capped- or near-capped- and they have their primary stat in the 3,000-range- which is where it should be. In short, some of the end-game gear is so good- it makes the virtues ridiculous. I don't see the reason why I should have to kill 1,000 Orcs to get what I can just as easily get in an essence-slot. The tps are nice- but they can be cherry-picked as well. Finally, virtues only matter in regard to instances / raids- most of which are below-level-cap now. Epic Battles do not require high-level virtues to do and succeed well- they have their own system. Having a high-level Charity virtue would be helpful in some cases, however- but that requires searching for specific deeds. And this is assuming that we would want to even try Tier 2 Erebor at 100, which no one does anymore. And the best thing to do, then, is to wait until level-cap, re-form Elemirre into a deed-focused group, and cherry-pick amongst the deeds- choosing the easiest deeds to get the virtues (i.e. Explorer as the first easiest, quests / instance deeds as the second, and slayer deeds as the third- depending on zone. For example, killing 90 baddies that you missed in Bree-land is far better than having to kill 400 Gauradan wolf-men in Forochel for the same virtue). Its far easier to find and kill the grey stuff with level 100 weapons- in surgical strikes- and this is only for the -necessary- virtues, which are basically resistances- with maybe some tact and phys mitigations. In short- virtues do not matter for basic and current end-game-group-non-raid-content at level 100. Not as much as other things. As far as class deeds go, we will want to make sure that we have done all our class-quests by the time we've exited Moria. The skill-class-deeds can be done in any zone that does not involve grey mobs. It should not be a problem for us to try a more fascinating play-style where we are all grinding class-deeds while we quest. As far as trait-points go, its pretty much like this: 1. Moria Epics 1-6. 1 trait point. 2. West Rohan- Kingstead, Eastfold, Broadacres, Stonedeans, and Westfold will all deliver 1 trait point each- 5 in total. 3. Central Gondor- Ringlo Vale, Dor-en-Ernil, Lower Lebennin, and Pelargir- 1 trait point each, 4 in total. 4. The rest of the trait points are earned for every odd level-number in the game- from 53 to 99- as well as class-skill-deeds. Edited by Auruiron Canafinil, Mar 15 2015, 08:16 AM.

For those who weren't around last night, we spent time in the Waterworks. We also found out that Kio is quite a bit ahead in the Epics, so plans were made for folk to work on those between meetings. (My note I scribbled says he is on Book 3, Ch. 5 "Words of Caution"--if that's wrong, Kio, please say so!) Wellie delivered Ale to the workers around the 21st Hall just because they looked thirsty, and did some patrolling around the Hall as well. I stopped her progress on that quest line once I realized she was adventuring to an area folks might want to do in time. I am trying to get Wellie up to 56 for the 21st waggon path map. (I call Hunter ports waggons because it's like packing everyone up in a wagon to get to the same place.) Our Choose Your Own Adventure Progress: 1. Finish Durin's Way. - should be done if not already 2. Get caught-up on the Epic. - in progress 3. Decided not to skip Waterworks. 4. Keep-up with the epics.--in progress Next up: 5. Zelem-Melek. |
