ii. Ranyaro Timeline / Discussion thread; To discuss the Ranyaro storyline
Topic Started: Nov 17 2013, 08:27 PM (100 Views)
Yucalwe

First, I would like to confirm that I am supportive of Carithawen's story of Bronfaer, and I applaud Cari as a wonderful storyteller as well as a great person. We collaborated earlier in her storyline- Yucalwe is the Wanderer of the East, and imagined as if portrayed by the actor Tom Hiddleston, as Cari noted beneath her timeline.

I felt inspired to write this Ranyaro series when I found myself coming up with too many ideas during my (continuing- hopefully) collaboration with Cari. I decided that it would be fair to the both of us for me to tell the other things that are happening to my character in the meanwhile. Celendil and Ranyaro have gone their separate ways, and my Ranyaro thread is intended to tell the story of what is happening to Ranyaro in the meanwhile- and in regard to a certain foe that Celendil faced in Cari's story- Guldrambor.

My storyline and that of Cari are occurring simultaneously. I raced through and glossed over the stuff that Cari has already written about in her amazing writing prowess- she is the star, and Ranyaro is the tag-along during that segment. The part I really wanted to start writing about was from the time Celendil left Harndirion to whenever Ranyaro runs into her again.

The Timeline shall proceed as follows:

The Second Age

SA 3430 – The Last Alliance of Elves and Men is formed ; The Elvish branch of the Alliance unites in Lorien. Yucalwe and his companions join the Alliance, and the survivors of Eregion recognize him. Yucalwe commands several companies of the ex-Eregion Noldor.
SA 3434 – Sauron's forces are defeated in the Battle of Dagorlad; Siege of Barad-dûr begins.
SA 3441 – Yucalwe's companies of Elves all fall. Sauron is defeated, but at the cost of the lives of Gil-galad and Elendil. So ends Yucalwe's last attempt to fulfill his Vow, or so it seems.

The Third Age

TA 1- Horrified by the War, Yucalwe becomes Ranyaro, and wanders into the East. He meets Mistaro, who may or may not be Daeron of Doriath of old. Ranyaro learns from Mistaro how to regain his life and to live it all the way up despite the horrors he experienced.
TA 6- Near the ending of the year, Ranyaro takes leave of Mistaro, still confused of the true nature of his identity. Mistaro convinces him to seek for the West. Ranyaro begins to lose heart near the Anduin, but his Lorien friends convince him to do so. He dwells in southern Lorien for several months.
TA 7 – Ranyaro seeks Himring, and follows the river north and enters into the Enedwaith. There, he discovers the body of Celendil (Carithawen) by the Pool of the King.
TA 11 – Ranyaro has stayed at Harndirion throughout many years to be of aid. Finally, Celendil recovers the power of voice.
TA 18 – Harndirion is assailed, and Guldrambor strikes at Ranyaro, for Guldrambor has trailed him since the War. Ranyaro wakes up, and finds that Iordreth of Gondor is dead, and Celendil is gone.
TA 19 – Ranyaro seeks Celendil, and reaches the Gap of Calenardhon at the turning of the year.
TA 20 – Ranyaro journeys throughout northern Gondor. Reunited with friends, Cullasson and Cullastor, the three Elves search the realm for Celendil. They also (not mentioned in the storyline) spend a considerable portion of time at Edhellond, an Elven port, and remain there from one year and deep into the next.
TA 21 – Ranyaro and the others climb the Pass of Cirith Ungol. Guldrambor fights Shelob, and the Elves manage to escape the tunnel. Guldrambor assaults Celendil near the ruins of the Dark Tower. Guldrambor battles Ranyaro and eventually him with the others outside of Orodruin. A massive storm results in their departure.
TA 22 – Ranyaro and the others reach Mistaro's cave in Rhun in the dawning days of the new year. Ranyaro resolves his long contemplation, and concludes that Mistaro is not Daeron of Doriath. The Journey to Dorwinion. The Battle with Guldrambor and the Easterlings. Ranyaro and the others cross Rhovanion, visit Khazad-dum, and climb over the Redhorn Pass to Eregion.

TA 23 – Ranyaro finds Ioristion in Eregion. They return to Imladris. They continue toward Amon Sul. Ranyaro learns of Celendil's next destination. Ranyaro departs from the others and journeys south. When he learns where Celendil dwells, he returns to Edhellond.
TA 109 – Elrond weds Celebrían, daughter of Celeborn and Galadriel.
TA 130 – Elladan and Elrohir are born to Elrond and Celebrían.
TA 1000 – The Istari come to Middle-earth.
TA 1300 – The Nazgûl reappear. The Witch-king founds the Kingdom of Angmar. Orcs increase in the Misty Mountains.
TA 1635 – After The Great Plague decimates the population of Gondor and the surrounding realms, Celendil and Déorwyn’s descendants relocate to Dol Amroth on the Belfalas peninsula. Ranyaro is delighted to learn that he may watch and protect Celendil more closely, without revealing his presence.
TA 1980 – The Nazgûl return to Mordor.
TA 2000 – The Nazgûl emerge from Mordor and assault Minas Ithil. They capture it, and rename it Minas Morgul.
TA 2916 – Déorwyn’s great granddaughter weds Angelimir, Prince of Dol Amroth. Celendil becomes a Royal Guardian, like Elendriel before her.
TA 2931 – Aragorn, son of Arathorn, is born.
TA 2951 – Sauron declares his presence in Mordor.
TA 2967 - Ranyaro continues hunting Guldrambor. He finds Abrazan near Umbar.
TA 2976 – Finduilas, one of Déorwyn’s kin and Princess of Dol Amroth, weds Denethor, son of Ecthelion II, the Steward of Gondor. Celendil is knighted as Guardian of Gondor.
TA 2978 – Boromir, son of Denethor II and Finduilas, is born. Ivordir is born.
TA 2983 – Faramir, brother of Boromir, is born. Abrazan is sixteen years old. Ranyaro reveals his true identity to the Court of Minas Tirith after the assassination of Lady Finduilas. Ranyaro and Abrazan depart from Dol Amroth.

TA 2984 - Ranyaro's ship is caught in a storm. They lose direction. They find themselves drawn into the Havens of Umbar. Ranyaro confronts Guldrambor. Abrazan becomes enslaved and forced to fight in the arenas of Umbar. Ranyaro debases himself to the level of slavery in order to find and save him. Remembering Nirnaeth Arnoediad, he cannot discriminate between the Haradrim of the present and the Easterlings of the past, as Guldrambor toys with his mind. He slays many in the arenas, and nearly slays his son.

TA 3016- Ranyaro encounters a young Edheldae along with Fareon and Lerinon and Thalhadron. Fareon and Lerinon disguise themselves as members of the Black, an order of fell sorcerers who pretend to be Black Numenoreans so as to strike terror in the Gondorians. Guldrambor disguises himself among them. Due to their diversion, Ranyaro and Abrazan escape on a black ship with many slaves. They are pursued. Guldrambor is on the Enemy ship. Months later, Guldrambor sails up the Baranduin, and through High King's Crossing. He assails Annuminas. Ranyaro's ship crash-lands in Forochel. They journey south, seeking warmer weather. The Dunedain mistake them for the Enemy, for Guldrambor has disguised himself as Ranyaro. The Dunedain are pressed into confusion. They arrest the fake Ranyaro. Auruiron, journeying north in search of a long lost Maglor son of Feanor, finds an imposter Ranyaro claiming to be Guldrambor, toying with his mind and harming him emotionally. Auruiron flees into Forochel and finds Maglor. Ranyaro withdraws his crew back into Forochel, where they work to gain the aid of the Lossoth. As soon as they sail out of the Ice-Bay and approach Himring, Guldrambor's fleet sails into sight. Their ship sinks, and they flee to the island. They lose several men. Guldrambor's ship lands, and a skirmish ensues between his forces and those of Ranyaro. Auruiron, Maglor, Alcano, Melimwe, Cullasson, and Almareon come to aid in the fight. When Ranyaro realizes what Guldrambor has done, he repents to Auruiron and Maglor, their swords at his throat. Guldrambor lures Almareon out into the upper reaches, and slays him. Mourning over Almareon's death, Nelyafinwe appears. He guides Ranyaro across Eriador in many ruins as the others journey ahead of them. In time, Ranyaro is accepted beneath the Golden Bough of Laurelin. Abrazan arrives belatedly, and joins as well. As Leaves, they agree to place the rivalry of House Ainon Cundan and House Yualon behind them, agreeing that they are now equal Guardians of Finwe, equally in danger and threatened by Guldrambor and his accursed oath.

TA 3017- Ioristion continues to persist in the belief that Auruiron is his father. Ranyaro bids his new Elven allies to not allow Celendil to know of his presence, should she also find her way beneath the Golden Bough. When pressed as to why, he simply replies that he is not yet ready to speak to her after thousands of years. He also does not desire for Guldrambor to endanger her life again. Ranyaro ranges throughout Eriador, hunting Guldrambor.

TA 3018- Ioristion finds Findekano in the vault of Minas Elendur in Eregion. Taking his Staff, Findekano arrives beneath the Golden Bough. Findekano is only visible to those who can see at once in both worlds, and even then, he alone decides who he shall be visible to. Findekano reunites with Nelyafinwe nigh Imladris, and learns of his sad fall, as well as the Fall of Gil-galad. Auruiron struggles internally to face his pride and his fears. He finally does so, and both he and Maglor hear the Song of the World near a stream in Imladris, prophesying their eventual return to Aman. Ranyaro hears of the tidings and smiles, knowing that there is hope for him as well. A young-adult Ivordir arrives by strange circumstances beneath the Golden Bough. He is astonished to find Ranyaro. Ranyaro asks him if he has held to his charge, and he explains how a small excursion to Rohan transformed into a mess. Ranyaro laughs, as this is how he has lived for the past three thousand years. Ivordir learns that Boromir has come to Imladris for a secret purpose. He is not permitted to learn this purpose, and he is not permitted to journey south with Boromir. He is, however, permitted to trail them.

TA 3019- Auruiron and the others gather in order to journey south with the sole purpose of finding and destroying Guldrambor. When they find the Grey Company, they decide to dress in their garb, so as to not be seen by Guldrambor. They split rank near the Gates of Moria. Auruiron reclaims the lost tombs of Celebrimbor. Yucalwe and Ioristion realize in the darkness that they are father and son. Ioristion, with great difficulty, accepts his destiny. Auruiron, realizing the truth, calms him, and tells him that he may have two fathers, the two lineages of the Houses of the Guardians merged into one. Yucalwe takes Ioristion back to rejoin the Grey Company.
