lets see....*twiddles thumbs* I think ive annoyed people enough in the shout bar, so ill keep my ramblings while watching the counter slowly crawl on the download status (234 out of 12443 if you really wanted to know)
So far in the world of Harb aka Dinkum, Dunkem and that fantastically good looking elf heart throb of women far and wide who by the way is extremly modest, Arbadan, although of late ive missed my hobbits and been playing them more. I do love elves but Hobbits....well what can I say, theyre me...only im 6'3" with chin whiskers....still the party isnt complete without a hobbit! Dunkem, brother of Dinkum and Harbspeare is my latest creation, a hunter who is a bit shy at first, not very brave and bold and has the legendry apetite of the Sorefeet.
Hmmm time to check the counter....2 of 12210...damn freezes...oh well getting there slowly
What else has been happening...hmm getting settled in our new home...ITS BLOODY AWESOME!! A place of our own *coughbankcough* no more rent *coughbankcough* and in twenty years time all ours, aswell as the body corp, which because we are in a complex we cant do anything to the front or roof without group approval, but no matter. I finally have a study! well when i say its mine its not really its also the hemhem wifes but most of the time its mine...muhahahah errr yes dear..no dear....*snickers quietly and whispers* mine all mine!
So we've been here nearly two and a bit weeks, in that time ive had a birthday (thank you all by the way for the best wishes...ooo my aching back, nearly a gaffer!) and due to PC being buggered started reading through Lord of the Rings which im really enjoying. Last time i tried to read it was when i was 15...so uhmm lets see...20 something years ago coughcough and i couldnt come to grips with it. At the time Tolkiens descriptions were painful. Now with maturity, wisdom...and Makalaure going on and on about middle earth lore leaving me scratching my head...I now can fully appreciate Tolkiens work. Already finished the Fellowship and onto book 2 The Two Towers. When ive finished i think ill go looking for the other books he wrote...you know the ones...something to do with elves so it cant be that good, not like the exploits of Hobbits!

And why am i not at work i hear you cry...well possibly
Due to flu and a chest infection plus a nose that wont quit dripping im apparently contagious so im not allowed anywhere near food, drink and people...which as a barman can be slightly tricky
Well thats it for now ill come back and ramble a bit more later as i watch the counter crawl on and clean off the mountain of tissues which is blocking my view of the monitor
oh and if you really really are a glutton for punishment....the count is now 40 out of 12210

LOL - having somewhat recently reinstalled LOTR, I empathize. What a painfully slow process. I suggest a good book, nap, US Open or you could watch all the LoTR movies - again.

So, Harb... did you finish the books? Did you read the appendices (at least read the stuff in Appendix A, but I found ALL of it fascinating, especially the alphabets "tinco, parma, calma, quesse"...)?

Next stop the Silmarillion, but don't expect light reading! My favorite from the Silmarillion was the story of Beren and Luthien, and the little bit about the wizards. Turin was good reading, but dark.
As I recall the Book of Lost Tales had some good stuff about Beleriand as well, but I have only read it the once...

lets see, Frodo and Sam slipped away by boat across the great River, Gimli, Legolas and Aragorn have found the remains of the Urks after the men of Rohan attacked and Merri and Pippin are telling Treebeard their story....yes ok im a slow reader but enjoying it thoroughly. Its good to see the movie version trys to follow the books (though alot was left out still....) and theres little things people say and do in the books that they used in the movies....love the "Run you fools" Gandalf mutters before plunging into the shadow
