Am sure everyone who visits this part of the section, or has visited a bookshop/library, will have heard of this guy at some point or another. I got with my GF, and we got to reading together, and she passed me a book by Dean Koontz, someone I had never heard of before. The book was "Door To December", and I instantly got into the book. The way that he manages to pull you into a book and keep you hooked is amazing, always making you think things through and try to work out what the hell is going on. I didn't put the book down and loved every page of it. It wasn't until a few weeks later that my mum told me that my dad had a few of the books, so I started reading them aswell, and I was loving every one of them. In my opinion, this author is in a league of his own. His books go beyond words, making you actually stop and look at things in a new light. I also love the fact how he makes you learn about life without knowing it. His books always seem to mention a perspective on life, and what everything actually means, making you question everything. Add suspense and horror and you have the best combination ever. I've currently read the following by him -
I own alot more then that, but I've got to get round to reading them. There are alot of his books that stand out to me. One of them is Strangers. I remember reading through this and trying so hard to work out what was going on, and it made me want to read it more and more. The ending was fantastic, just like the rest of the book. As I said, Door To December also stood out for me, not just because of the fact it was his first novel I read, but the things that happen inthe story just keep you wanting to know what the hell is going on, and this novel shows off his excellent imagination. One Door Away From Heaven is also another book that I throroughly enjoyed, mainly the humour that was in it. I remember this book also because of the fact that what I thought was going on actually turned out to be wrong....click on spoiler to find out: Spoiler: click to toggle The worst novel I have read by him is Icebound, and he also states in his book that it was not his best work and would never do something like it again. I don't know, it just wasn't the type of novel I expect from him. What are your views anyway? Name your favourite, and worst, books. |
