Tintalle's white and red ablazen, across Ilmen shone as if anew. Illuminating the crystal clear and untainted waters of the Lhun. The sound of crickets upon the planes and the rushing of the channel as it reached for the west, were all that could be heard. For the Elves slept. Seifor stood upon quayside, his sword strung on his waist, an emblem of the Laiquendi's entrust and past. The beryls in his hilt, glittering of the waters hue and paying compliment to their Noldoli maker. Much had been done, to this point, and much would still go in his stead. The last of the Shipwrights arrived to finish the stock of the white vessels of Tol Eressia, and Seifor bowed his head as his cousins continued. His stead, waited upon the deck, the Galadhrim gift of the Lorinand realm. Never could he leave his long companion alone in Endor without his carer. His thoughts ever upon the Sanctuary, but his time had come, his fading full wrought. For over six thousand years had he dwelt upon the lands of Beleriand and Endor, and for long had he kindled the hearts of those that dwelt within the Sanctuary. In guidance and love did he serve, and ever shalt his heart be turned to the lands of his care. His mind was heavy of thought, lamenting on all that he had seen and done, for the Elves and those whom he lovest. Seifor heard a footfall behind him, and recognising the stave echo upon the quayside he knew almost right away that it was his Lord and Brother. Clill, restore of the Laiquendi Archive and his most kind hearted and wise companion. It was confirmed by a deep and calm voice, "Brother, you were to leave without saying Farewell?", Seifor smiled, as if to know exactly the expression Clill had given without looking. Turning, Seifor said, "I am but one Elf, of no stature nor wealth. I leave as I came into this world, solitary and without statement. I mean to leave, this night, and take with me all of my thoughts that I might give in kind to the Teleri Libaries of the Lonely Isle". Seifor then placed his hand upon his Beryl Hilt, and slowly unsheathing his sword he held the blade in both hands, he spoke, and handed the sword to his Brother hilt first, "Wilt ye honour the Laiquendi, by taking up the Einior emblem, and looking after the Sanctuary in all of its solidarity? For no other wouldst I annoint to the task, and thou care most of all whom I knowest, for the Sanctuary's preservation and gathering of the wise", relunctantly, but willingly, knowing the journey of Seifor was finally at its end, took the hilt and looked fondly upon its Laiquendi inscriptions. Clill read the steel, as if he had never read it before, aloud "Eru cuilessë Laiquendë ná ve lótë ya losta tennoio." smiling a little as he did so. "I will take the emblem of the Sanctuary, and wear it with pride. For within it, lies the heritage of those that fell upon the Amon Ereb" and Seifor nodded in reply "Le Hannon, hîr nín. The future of the Sanctuary, rests within those that lovest and covet its founding. And thou art of the wisest to thus understand. I am glad you came". Seifor heard the ropes being untied of the dock, and the waters rejoicing with the blessing of Uinen for its long journey. His time had come, he began his final words to Lord Clill. Mostly in whisper of all his learnings and wishes, and amongst them the few words, "The world is not as it should be, the Elves must depart soon, for the dawning of the new age is almost here. Clill, please explain to the others of my leave. For they will not understand in full." and Clill closed his eyes, his face solemn in reply "They will understand my Lord, for your guidance through the Sanctuary has given them the faith to continue upon their greater roads" and Seifor looked down in deep sorrow, knowing that his own fate was so little in comparison to their own, he spoke quietly "My time has been long, and yet too short. I shalt send letters over the Belegaer, and will look forward to hearing from you all. Though all knew that my time was almost over, there is no longer no place for me to rest, and my spirit whether I will it or not, is for the west. I wish to not part with my touch of the waters of Arda, not yet" and Clill responded, in a nurturing manner "My Brother, healing shall ye find upon the Lonely Isle, and time to recuperate your spirit. Worry not of us, for the Sanctuary shall ever be safe" Seifor was overdue, and his last voyage was to leave. He turned and signalled to his Teleri cousins that he was coming so to not linger for long and he took a few steps towards Clill, and with all of his final cares he placed his hand on Clills shoulder. "My Lord, my Brother. I will miss thee, with no doubt. And I shalt look forward to seeing you in the west quite soon. Do not feel for me, and keep the hearts of our Sanctuary within faith. Keep up thine works, and restore the lands lack of Eldar Grace. For it is our last works, in Endor. To inspire and lead those that hath little understanding of Arda." and Clill looked down in deep sorrow before his placing his own hand on Seifor's "Navaer hîr nín" and for the last time, Seifor replied with "No I Melain Na Le Laiquendë! Aurë entuluva!" and he bowed his head, and hastily turned, to avoid Clill seeing his tears! Seifor slowly took his final step from the quayside, that very moment, all of the memories of the Sanctuary and Laiquendi, past and present, rushing through his mind. Ossiriands green lands, and gentle slopes. The singing of all the many birds, and the sound of harps beside Tol Galen. His mothers cradling and the sound of whittling of his father. The building of the Sanctuary beside Celondim, and the lighting of the first candles. The changing tides of the Goverment and slow expanses of time, of learning and remorse. Arrivined Eldar of the east, and his many decades of reading within the Libraries of the Luin. The departure of many Laiquendi, and now it was his turn. And the ship begain to leave the Gray Havens. |
