It's just a god-damned crying shame! Its as though Angie and Sasha lost that spark because so much has been made of the chemistry that maybe now they have performance anxiety. I blame the talk show hosts and TNT honchos for playing with a fire they had no business fooling with.
I don't think Angie and Sasha have lost the spark. If they are alone in a scene then they still sizzle. The problem is that JTam and/or TPTB have told them how to act now. In season 1 they sizzled because they were allowed more freedom in reacting to each other. They were free to hold hands or hug or touch or whatever. For example, in the scene last season when Maura is crying about Hope, Jane and Maura have an autopsy table between them and all Jane is allowed to do is hand her tissues. You can clearly see that Angie felt uncomfortable and both actresses couldn't make the scene work. That because it felt wrong for them. If they were allowed, they would have been closer and Jane would be holding Maura. They are getting directions to not be close. The problem is that the chemistry is the RL sexual chemistry that Angie and Sasha give off. JTam can't put that out so when they have a scene by themselves something or somebody must be around. But the sizzle is still there.
I totally agree with this. And the bold part is spot on. You can't put out their fire.

I hated the LLBFF scene but the last gif is hot as hell. I love the way that Jane forcefully pulls Mauras hips back to her. And Maura seemed to enjoy it, too.

Oh, brother. This brings up a whole different topic. Please don't stir up the butch hating trolls. I don't see Jane as being butch in this manner... she's a pantsuit lesbian, not a business suit lesbian. Can you see Jane and Frost rolling up to a scene dressed like the Blues Brothers sans hats?

Not sure why she had to carry Jo like that but.....anyway. Two things are proven in these gifs.....Jo is played by a male dog and 'Watson' is now officially MIA just like JTam stated. It was just an aquarium against the wall between the kitchen and hallway, so why remove it. Weird.

Adding, Sasha may have been afraid that he would pee on her again. Just thought of that after I posted above.

The ratings are very good. They had a premiere with 1.8 and then a 1.2 an now a 1.0. I'm betting next week they are in the same range or maybe a 1.1 The total viewers are stable at 5.8-6 million. That is enough to get a season 5. I don't think they will get the renewal next week. I'm guessing after episode 5.

Tess Gerritsen tweeted the 5.8 million viewers and then said "can you say renewal?" There's no doubt that they have a season 5. It will probably be announced after episode 5. That is also a very strong episode with Paddys trial.

Episode 2 : 5.895 millions viewers for 1.2 ratings.
Episode 3 : 5.581 millions viewers for 1.0 ratings.

They lost over 1 millions viewers in 3 weeks and ratings have dropped almost half a point...

This is a familiar trajectory for R&I. It's where it always stabilizes - right at a 1.0 rating. We will know that better after the next 2 weeks. The key isn't just in the rating though. It's in the performance of TNT's other shows.

That is a normal drop. It happened during other seasons, too. They will remain stable 1.0 in the 18-49 demo A few episodes during the season will go to 1.0-1.1 and they will probably remain steady at 5-6 million viewers. They have season 5 in the bag.

Exactly. Like the previous poster said, it happened during other seasons, too. They remain steady at 1.0 usually and keep the 6 million viewers. It's TNTs best show. The other shows are behind. R&I is cheap to make compared to them and they have great ratings. I agree with another poster that said that the renewal will happen after episode 5, which is Paddys trial. Even Gerritsen tweeted it and said that the renewal is coming.

OP here, yeah... I agree. JTAM needs to get her control freak claws off of Angie and Sasha and let them do what they do best. Act! But apparently there is no need, the ratings haven't suffered at all from her interference. I just don't understand why she feels compelled to put a wedge between AandH :/

I don't know if it will get a season 5. Do you think the ratings will be better next week with the Maura gets beaten prison episode? They will also be going up against Covert Affairs and Suits. Course I do not know what those shows ratings were like last year. What do you think the ratings will be this next episode and am I wrong thinking these numbers might not get them a season 5? I am not a rating guru thanks for any info you have.

Is Rizzoli and Isles TNTs number 1 show or Falling Skies because they already renewed Falling Skies but not Rizzoli and Isles? ?

It's moments like these when I don't know whether to want to cheer or want to punch someone in the face. Rizzoli and Isles will always be a very bittersweet experience.

Someone posted about gaybaiting yesterday and since no one's answered, I thought I would. Rizzoli and Isles does the lesbian community no favors at all. But for me, the question is less about that and more about whether or not it's really hurting. And I don't think it is. Yes, it stings every time to know that literally the only reason these two characters will never get together is because they're both women and there is still something wrong with that. But the main demo for the show is so old it's kind of hard to care that much. The shows that are currently coming out for younger demos are much more progressive about this particular issue. I've yet to see a rise in gaybaiting occur and I've certainly yet to see any critic start to take the show seriously. So as long as the crap Rizzoli and Isles is pulling remains relatively contained, I'm ok with just tuning in once a week (when there's not a beard to ruin things) in order to watch Angie be hot.

I'll probably never buy another DVD set and it's disappointing to know that we'll never see season 1 Jane again. I'll miss the tension from season 1, too. And if Tamaro ever does another show, I definitely won't tune in. But at the end of the day, Rizzoli and Isles seems like a fun summer anomaly that no one is really attempting to emulate. Maybe I'm wrong? I'm no insider so I don't know what's in development. But it seems like we're moving forward as a country and Rizzoli and Isles is sort of a relic from the past that has, through chemistry that can't be emulated, struck a chord with some younger viewers. I'll enjoy what I can and then when it's over, it's over.

I thought the porn and Guam scenes from the last ep were hilarious. I often find the banter on R & I more amusing than most of what passes as a joke on popular network sitcoms.
I laughed aloud at the Guam thing. I live in Boston, and Braintree is basically Guam.
I like that kind of banter rather than the childish and annoying kind where Jane is mocking something Maura has said.

"But the main demo for the show is so old it's kind of hard to care that much." Society has changed a lot over the years regarding homosexuality. There are still barriers: see Rizzoli and Isles. I'm of the "older" generation. I grew up in the 70's. The word lesbian was not used as a description so much as it was an accusation to be levelled against any woman who didn't fit the mold of dutiful housewife.
Internalized homophobia is rampant among that demograph. That's a reason to care.

A Masculine Silhouette, Tailored for Her
More untraditional fashion brands and style blogs are catering to female customers who dress and act in ways traditionally associated with men.

The problem I have with this is that Angie needs to realize that she is not Jane. Jane is not Kate Beckett from Castle and in a way I'm glad she is not. While Kate undoubtedly looks hot, I think it's a little over the top sometimes with the high heels and tight fitting clothing. Who would chase down a suspect in stilettos?

First season Jane was frumpy and nothing like this season's Jane. The suits they gave her to wear were ill-fitting and made her look like a slob. She'd whine and complain when having to wear a dress.

Second season Jane suddenly had better fitting suits and appeared more put together but would still gripe about dressing up.

Current season Jane suddenly has no problem getting dressed up, and I say that because there was not fussing over having to wear that black dress in the most recent episode.

I think Angie's fashion requirements have changed Jane visually while the writers have changed her on paper. This season's Jane is somewhat like season one Jane, but I don't think it's a complete rewind to old Jane.
