see this is just like the metroland mention a lil while back, jus on a bigger scale, sux an article like that got written... unnecessary attn drawn to a killer true spot... i hope whatever the altercation was... it was directed at whoever made that article happen, and hopefully the article making happeners got their mouths washed out w/ soap by the scene... tsk tsk you should know better

SELLS SHITTY PUNK RECORDS
i agree with jay, i see this only resulting in the demise of this place which i am not wishing it by any means but articles like this draw unneeded attention from people you don't want paying attention. if its not the cops it would be some bro dogg that shows up to something because he heard about the place in the paper and does something fucked up and the cops lay down the law

Drugs, Money Sex EP was the s hit!

Freddy Madball rap is HILARIOUS! However, Danny Diablo's rap is even funnier.

I went to a show at 138 Johnson Street back in Novemeber. Bands were O.K., however, the people s*cked. It was a bunch of hipsters in studded vests and denim jackets trying to look like the Ramones and sound like Sheer Terror. They couldn't pull either off.

the dude who wrote it claimed to live at the address circa 2002. still thought he had cred.

"goobercore"

the author is ray lemoine. older shithead who's attempting to document hardcore's 'return' (where'd it go?) and refuses to take no for an answer. he's still trying to run on cred from when he was into hardcore years ago, not realizing how fucking out of touch he is and how goofy he sounds when talking or writing about these types of things. after we (tenants of 538) initially declined an interview with him he threatened to 'run an address' if we weren't to comply. we smoothed out the situation, or so we thought, but he none-the-less ended up at our doorstep with a photo-journalist replete with shitty faux-hawk for the raw/never gig last sunday. needless to say when my roomies figured out who the dude was he was asked to leave, escorted out, but not without threatening to return with gun in hand to shove down my one roommates throat and shoot him... all this, of course, after calling everyone faggots.

alan yuch did bring this dude over, too. thought that guy had a genuine stake in punk shows in the area.. guess not.

PS: to preempt the obvious, ray and photo-journalist wingman were not beat up because they work for the ny post. despite the NY post being bottom of the barrel in terms of journalistic quality (and obviously integrity or ethical standards), we still didn't want him running an address and still didn't need cops being called for any reason.

i was gonna lay down a profanity laced tyrade about this fuckwit but jkrak has politely and succinctly summed up everything i was thinking.

p.s. if the fuzz shut this place down not just 3 show spaces would be gone, the building isnt zoned for residence so everyone who lives there could get evicted.

further proof that everyone who works for the post is a moron
