These are the confirmed version mascots for the upcoming DS games; Pokemon Black and Pokemon White.

Posted Image

The white one on the left is known in both Japanese and English as Reshiram. Reshiram is the version mascot for Pokemon Black version. (Yes, the white legend is the mascot for Pokemon Black, and vice-versa.)

The black one on the right is known in both Japanese and English as Zekrom. Zekrom is the version mascot for Pokemon White version.

Funny how their names end in ram and rom, lol...

Anyways, yes these are confirmed, and from the looks of it, I'm guessing Zekrom specializes in offense and Reshiram in defense. Just a guess, ;)

Types are to be revealed. We may or may not see the introduction of a "Light Type". Hm.

Discuss, speculate, critique, etc.
Personally I think they both look sick. Now it's hard for me to choose which version I want. I'm kinda liking Reshiram a lot, seems majestic.

Updates:

The Daisuki Club on the official Japanese Pokemon website is now calling Reshiram and Zekrom the "Legendary Dragon Pokemon," meaning they will at least be part Dragon-type. Their second type, if they have any, is not yet known at this time. It could very well be light/dark.

If you look at the bottom right of each box, you will see their game code. The first part of the code - "TWL" - is Nintendo's way of denoting that the games are enhanced for the DSi. Most DS games are labeled "NTR," meaning there is no difference in their features when playing them on the first DS, the DS Lite, or the DSi.

Also, an official E-mail was sent out to the Daisuki Club...

"What are the differences between Pocket Monsters Black and Pocket Monsters White?

Other than how to meet the legendary Pokemon Reshiram and Zekrom, things like encountered Pokemon and Pokemon encounter rates differ between the two versions! You can enjoy trading Pokemon that only appear in one version by using the local wireless and Wi-Fi connections with your family, friends, and players from all over the country! There is another big version difference as well, which we will reveal later! We'll keep showing you detailed information on the Pokemon Daisuki Club website! Don't miss it!!"

The bold has me curious.

Zoroark will likely be the English name of the Pokemon we were introduced to a while ago.

Additionally, we now have 500 confirmed Pokemon. The 7 from gen five plus the other 493.

(What's sad is I can name them all if you were to show me a picture XD)

... Man...time flies...

I remember the song "and theres one-hundred and fifty, or more to see".

Yeah, never thought it'd get this big.

If you ask me, I think that having a ~light~type is very well possible.

I recall that when pokemon red blue and green came out, steel and dark types didn't exist. You had to wait untill the crystel versions for them to be introduced IIRC.

So, yes, I think that there could be a light type.

Either way, I still want Reshiram =3

To correct you, yes, there was no steel or dark type in Red/Blue (japanese = green)/Yellow, but in Gold and Silver, the types were introduced.

From what I've heard, I'm saying Zekrom is Dragon Electric and Reshiram is Dragon Fire.

I sort of doubt the plausibility of a light type, seeing as how it's practically what psychic would be. Espeon, light type? Yeah, that's what psychic is.

I don't know...

Let's wait and see what comes into fruition.

Reshiram is the White Yang Pokemon and has "Turbo Blaze" as its ability while Zekrom is the Black Yin Pokemon and has "Terra Voltage" for its ability. Yep, looks like they're going for the whole yin-yang thing.

As predicted, Reshiram is Dragon / Fire, while Zekrom is Dragon / Electric.

The June CoroCoro images have been leaking for several hours now. Seven new Pokemon have been revealed so far. All of the information we know is below.

The white Pokemon is named, in Japanese, Chiramii. It is the Chinchilla Pokemon, a Normal-type. Its abilities are Cute Charm and Technician and it knows a new move called, roughly translated, "Sweep Slap," which hits the opponent multiple times.

The pink Pokemon is named in Japanese Mun'na. It is the Dream Eater Pokemon, a Psychic-type, and has Forewarn and Synchronize as its abilities. A new attack it knows is roughly translated as "Telekinesis," which makes the opponent float in the air. I don't know how this will hurt it, but we'll see.

The odd mechanical Pokemon below is "Gear", appropriately titled the Gear Pokemon. It is a Steel-type and its ability is either "Plus" or "Minus." It has a new attack called, roughly translated, "Gear Saucer," which you can see it using below - it attacks the opponent multiple times with both of its gears.

Japanese named Mamepato is the Baby Pidgeon Pokemon and is a Normal / Flying type. How original... Its abilities are either, loosely translated, "Pidgeon Breast" or "Super Luck." In a screenshot below, Mijumaru tries to lower its Defense, but it doesn't work because one of Mamepato's abilities prevents it.

"Hihidaruma" is the Flaming Pokemon, a Fire-type. Its ability is "Encourage." Looks effn weird.

The awesome zebra thing, called in Japanese "Shimama" ( LOL, SHI MAMA) is the Charged Pokemon, an Electric-type, and has Lightningrod or Motor Drive as its abilities. It has a new attack called "Wild Volt," which does a lot of damage but also hurts the user.

"Meguroko" is the Desert Crocodile Pokemon, a Ground / Dark type. Its abilities are Intimidate and "Earthquake Spiral," the latter of which raises its Attack stat when it Knocks Out a Pokemon. Sounds like this thing will be pretty rape, once it takes out one poke I'm guessing it can sweep through teams with that Spiral ability.

The professor of Isshu is female and named Professor Araragi, as you can see below. She's ugly. :(. She presents a Chiramii to the player in the "World of Pokemon" intro at the start of the game.

There is some sort of new in-game connection device called the C Gear. It has "various connection capabilities," though we do not know what that means at this time. To the left of its screenshot below, the magazine says, "What's this screen!?... It looks like a new wireless feature was added!"

There is a new wireless feature called Random Match, which you can access from the Global Terminal inside Pokemon Centers. It will allow players to randomly battle other players around the country over Wi-Fi. It then says "You can upload your Black and White save file to the Internet," though for what purposes we do not know at this time.

To obtain Zorua in the games, you have to transfer the Celebi from the movie download. You can obtain Zorua at Level 10.

On the Celebi and Zorua page, one of the screenshots shows your Celebi next to you and Zorua next to another Trainer. This probably confirms that you can have your Pokemon walk behind you again, like in HeartGold and SoulSilver.
