San Jose and Detroit are looking dangerous so far. My teams were good at first but have flopped recently. Colorado has been close but can't seem to close games properly. Edit:and toronto needs to score more. Edited by Kragok, Feb 3 2010, 07:52 PM.

Ever since I got Stastny and moved McDonald down to line 3, kunitz and selanne have played well with stazz. Goaltending and defense has been good. |

It's been interested to see how the sort of "stacked" teams as it were played against each other. Just a few thoughts I've had so far on some teams. Pittsburgh: One of the early favorites and it's primarily due to the consistency of their first line and goaltending. It seems to be the same guys each night giving them a chance to win, and others stepping up when needed. Washington: While they do have a star playing consistent, their strength comes from overall team play. Matt Duchene has excelled on 2nd line and is doing better than I thought he would. Also one of the few teams besides Pittsburgh to balance a good mix of defense and offense at the same time. Toronto: This team plays excellent defensive hockey, but much like my own, is prone to playing either offense or defense only games. As such, they have an ability to stay in games, but have had issues scoring at times. Colorado: Similar to Toronto but more extreme. Offense is either really on or asleep. Columbus: Benefiting from early trade that seems to have made them a threat each night to win. 2 of 3 losses to Pittsburgh/Washington a sign they may be good enough to compete in long run. Las Vegas: Good start for this team. Another offensive/defensive mix that can keep games close enough for star players to win it for them (much like Zetterberg's goal against CHI). San Jose: Excellent powerplay, the best center in the game and one of the better goalies in the league. Has dished out and received big goal totals. Could be interesting to see what their GM does with this team. Detroit: Success has been due to solid goaltending and an ability to score with at least 3 lines. Another team that could challenge for the top by seasons end. |

yeah I'm hoping Franzen does better this time on my team. I hated giving up a star player in Getzlaf even if the offer was more than fair, though. The issue with Getzlaf(and probably Franzen as well) was mostly due to chemistry I think. I'm still trying to move Elias(who isn't scoring as well as he should either) from minny but I'm hoping that Steve Sullivan coming in as a FA will help the scoring alot. He was by far my teams MVP in the first mock draft. |

Getzlaf had a good debut game as a viper 1 assist I am hoping getting Getzlaf will spread out scoring instead of my top line having to win the game Although I certanly want them to keep scoring Zetterberg wants to win the Hart (we're giving the Hart Trophy at the end of the year right) Zetterberg should be a contender for it he has been the big reason here in Las Vegas |

@ zeta... yeah there will be awards at the end of the post-season just like the real thing. I haven't decided exactly how it's to be done, but I was thinking for each category we'd have GM's name the best 2 candidates for that award from each team, and then, of course, whoever gets the most votes wins. Something along those lines anyway...but thankfully thats a long way off. |

I might actually have a chance at an award this time around! That is unless my team really tanks. |

Some good Series to start the playoffs. heres my predictions Colorado vs. Montreal COL 4-1 Colorado continues to get lucky in OT, and the Habs make it a closer series than a 4-1 win looks on paper, but they are overmatched and the outcome eventually shows that. Varlamov puts on a clinic and keeps Montreal in games but it just isn't enough. Players to Watch: Semyon Varlamov, Scott Gomez Detroit vs. Philadelphia DET 4-3 Detroit's starpower comes through at the right times throughout the series, and Philly's depth and defense keep them in the series to the last moment. Players to Watch: Teemu Selanne, Shea Weber Chicago vs. Las Vegas LVS 4-3 Another close series. Hard to say who would win but I think that despite Chicago's superior D, Las Vegas' top line will come through. Players to Watch: Eric Staal, Drew Doughty Washington vs. Pittsburgh WAS 4-3 If it becomes a battle of starpower then the teams are fairly even, so it may come down to depth players to do the scoring. Washington has the advantage there if it comes to that. Pittsburgh has a better D corps and if they can use it to their advantage they can turn the tables. Players to Watch: Shane Doan, Ryan Miller Edited by Kragok, May 11 2010, 05:21 PM.
