It's not about the money, the problem is that no car manufacturer will agree to have their cars in a computer game where you can use them to perpetrate crimes, shoot them or destroy them completely.

This is a very delicate matter and one of the main reasons why damage is so unrealistic in most racing games. ;)

Sure, those have some level of damage, but certainly none of the things mentioned above (there aren't many crimes you can do in DSF besides crashing into other cars).

There's even an interview with one of the developers from DSF where they talk about how they had to choose the level of damage based on what every car manufacturer would allow.

there is alot involved when it comes to licensed cars for a game u also have to look at what other game Devs hold rights to said car like EA's rights to all Porsches and Turn 10's rights to Ferrari's 458 and a few other Ferraris

erhm, there's a 458 in GT5, iirc. so i don't think it's theirs only..

This has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that car manufacturers (exclusive or not) don't allow their cars to be blown up on purpose by the player. Or be used to run over a bunch of unsuspecting hookers.

But while we're on the subject, just because a game studio or publisher owns exclusive rights to certain brands doesn't mean others can't use them. They can always make an agreement (read: bring tons of cash) ;)

There can be subcontracts for any car licence, like in the case of diecast,Mattel owns the Ferrari licence for some years now,and Bburago and many other companies buy the rights from Mattel.

In my opinion rockstar don't want to make real cars because they want to keep the game unique and one of a kind, its like rockstars trademark(making "parody" cars like the cavacalade/escalade xD)

Dan Houser: GTA V will have a "Very big map".

In a recent interview for the January 2012 issue of Game Informer (picture/scans of magazine below), Dan Houser, the Co-founder and current President of Creativity at Rockstar Games, was asked the following:

Question: You just released the GTA V trailer. Can you talk about that project in any respect? Obviously, it looks like its going back to San Andreas.

Dan Houser: I've got to be real careful here, or they will drag me through the office and whip me with barbwire. I will stick to exactly what's in the press release. It's Los Santos and the surrounding country side-and a very big map.

Although the release statement of the first trailer already stated that GTA V would be Rockstar's 'largest' game, it didn't specifically refer to the map. However, given this interview, we can now confirm that GTA V's map will be bigger than the size of the San Andreas' map, and predicted to be 1.5x larger.

In saying it will be a "very big map", we can assume that a big map in GTA standards is the GTA San Andreas map. So a map that's very big would then be even larger than that.

Although not huge news yet, it does put aside the concerns for map size and diversity. Now we know the map will be massive, and yet contain much diversity with mountains, beaches, farms and forests, which lacked in the past GTA IV map. This should easily be the best map Rockstar has ever created.

If this would be the whole truth, he would not be scared of giving out too much info. For me, thats a proof there will be more than LS only.
Because if he would give information x (and maybe y and z), being tortured through the office (XD), we had LS+surrounding+big map+information x (and y and z). Simple math. But still, I can be totally wrong.
