and as I also stated, I don't see the logic in learning an entirely new app like Rhino or Maya when Max is more than capable of doing the exact same thing

Versatility ;)

For Threep, you can extrude your splines, yes, but for what? Instead of that, you can just create CV curves and create a surface of them!
For what? For having the finished shape already, instead of poly modelling it. LOL. Seriously Slyde, no offend, but I really think you have no idea. Why would I create CV curves?

If you create a spline, and you have done a full cage of the R8 in splines, the next and only step would be extruding them which directly creates polies! Do you even know what EXTRUDING means? Obviously not, because you would not suggest to do the whole work again with a different tool. When there is a spline, there is a polygroup finished and done! Did you even see the video I had linked?! I doubt that. Seriously. No thinking human would switch to a fully different approach doing his work when the work is half done already. Having a spline: half done. Skipping it and using NURBS or cv or whatever after making a spline: idioty because of wasting already done work.

Never thought I'd say so, but sorry, thats dumb.

Are you going to school for this?

Just wondering, cause I don't really see any other reason to be fluent in 3 modeling programs (Zm is a pile of shit) other than for school, and even then from what I know most schools use autodesk, hell even most engineering firms use it (CPH Engineers for example, they're the one's who design wal-marts, and city layout plans here in central Florida)

I'm not being a dick or trying to turn this into a "bash on this person thread", it's just that your previous statement peaked my interests.

@Slyde

Good tutorial,but I also think it's pointless to work twice,the whole point of a splinecage would be to get a simple or less simple mesh,wich you can later refine by polymodeling,not including here the cars made entirely with splines,or nurbs,whatever you call it,but everyone works in his own way I guess.

@Kot

Here's a pdf tutorial on how to use splines to make a simple Lambo mesh.

@ Threep. As I told to Kot yesterday in FB, it's been 2 & half years since I begun modeling, 2year since I work with Max. Most of the people here model since 6-7 years now. So, yes, I still a have a lot of things I still need to learn, or things I think I got right, but in fact no.
Spline Cages supports my poly modeling a lot that's why I use it, and that's why I thought it was for what it was meant to be. But I got it wrong!
Yes I know what extrude means, it's one of the bases of my modeling technique, but no, in the 2 years I model, i never thought in extrude spline cages...
It's maybe dumb for you, but for me, it helps me a lot ;)

@Twizz, yes, i'm studying to become a 3D Modeler/Creator.
In fact, versatility it's a most for my resume.

@Wired. As I told to Threep, it's maybe useless for you, that model since 6-7 years. But for me it helps me and fasten my progress a lot. Not to tell that it accurates my model a lot. But well, it's my technique ^_^

As I said,I respect your method,but you do work twice on the same thing, you can replace this,with a method I learned from the french modding community,they used to draw the wireframe of the car or interior on the pics of the car,pics printed on paper.
