I was thinkn about this last night.. the Wii came out and kats bought into it (myself included *rollseyes*) ..with the 'motion sensing' which wasn't really motion sensing, it was just reading the controllers which means you can just make tiny movements -vs- needing to do the entire motion with your body and/or limbs then came Kinect ..which took the motion concept, and used it to ass rape every single one of Nintendo's seemingly short sighted efforts with just one swift and fatal blow ..Nintendo's most crucial downfall came from the fact that the 360 console didn't need to be replaced, but merely upgraded with a simple plug in motion sensing bar and then came.. The the sikkest most dead on commercial there is for Kinect.. they tore back all the future competition with just that one ad hahaha |

Awesome stuff bro, thanks for the clip! As usual, Microsoft was too narrow-minded to realize this on its own, people had to hack into Kinect and create 3rd part drivers Only then did they start to offer official support.P.S. Does anyone remember the guys who actually created camera-based motion sensing? There were these 2 dudes about 4 years ago who were experimenting with it and touted that it will be free (open-source) and work with any webcam... that is until they were bought by M$ or whatever

You mean the headtracking thing? Where you'd put LED's on your head which your webcam could folow? |

No, it was a motion sensing technology that used a regular webcam to track colored objects that you used instead of a controller. Similar to Sony's orb thingy or whatever it's called. |

Talking about this http://www.free-track.net/english/ It's the same principal. They can do it now too with WII controllers. |

and it's still free! ..go to their website in the video description and you can still turn yourself into a controller via cam only thing is, you'd have to map all the controls (assumption based on their video) - their last blog entry was Oct 17, 2009, and that was about taking that tech to Samsung touch screen cell phones ~ so it does seem some1 has either bough the tech *coMicrosoft Kinectugh* or they've stoppd development.. nice find Chipi

The funny thing is, when Kinect came out people were trying to figure out the code because they knew how useful it would be and Microsoft wanted nothing to do with it and now it seems like they are embracing it. |

It's not like I bumped a thread from 2008 and 30 pages back with some irrelevant comment, relax man. |
