wanna learn how to do those sweet clay-like renders in max that all the professional modelers do? good, cuz otherwise I might think you've lost your got damn mind and are aimlessly wandering the halls of the shop with snot running out your nose lookn like this guy ![]() Step 1 - whatever you're working on, make all of its parts the default gray by selecting all parts and clicking on the color box in the sub-object modifier panel and choosing from the long list of default grays on the bottom row of the pop-up (image1) Step 2 - hit "Rendering" on the top of max's UI and select "Render" (or simply press F10) - when the pop-up comes to life, select the Advanced Lighting tab - from the drop down list, choose "light tracer" (image1) <-> on that same pop-up, tab over to "Renderer", untick "Mapping" and close the pop-up Step 3 - now tab over to your Create panel and toggle "lights" and depress the Skylight button - in the top view, left click in it's viewport to create the skylight then move it up above your scene in a side viewport using the move tool (image2) then highlight the viewport you wish to render and hit F9 biggidy BAM! mudafucka... and you probably thought it was hard |

no, it's no problem at all, instead of a "clay" render, you'll just have beautiful shadows (as you can see) |

G, you need to be more ballsy than this man, you can't be too scared to look around and experiment with certain settings, if you don't experiment and play around with settings, how you gonna learn anything? - select the light and tab over to it's modifier panel, from there you can change the multiplier (light strength) and it's color as well as other options |
