Since we were all polluting the shoutbox with this game, I decided to make a topic where we can all share our experiences and ask for advice.

How to evade the cops

First of all you need to get your ass off open roads and into a city. If there's only one road around you, all cops will spawn on it, either in front of you or right behind you.
Even within city limits, try to avoid long streets and stay close to areas with as many intersections as possible.

I suggest you get a good off-road car because sometimes you will need to cut through the grass. The Buggy V8 is perfect for the job (if you unlocked it), but I must admit I haven't tried anything else.

Cops can't drive for shit, take advantage of that. When they get to an intersection they will slow down before coming towards you. Wait for the right moment to go right past them.
If you see a cop speeding towards you, wait untill he's fairly close and brake hard. 90% of the time he will veer left or right and you can go around him.
Watch out for stationary cops, when you get near them they will move back or forth to block you. Either try to trick them with a fake turn or speed through the largest gap

Don't be afraid to go off-road when you're in a tight spot, but don't stay there too long or the heli will get you. Also note that after you get back on the road it takes some time before the "heli heat" will clear; if you go right back off road again you will be just as close to getting caught as before you left.

If at one point there are no cops around you, slow down. This isn't a race, the point is to stay away from them until the timer runs out.

BACKUP your save files! If the cops catch you, not only will you get a fine but your wanted level will be reset. Go to C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Eden Games\Test Drive Unlimited 2\ and make a copy of the savegame folder. After each succesful evade, Alt+Tab and copy it again. If you get busted, just quit the game and restore your last backup.
Warning! Do not Alt+Tab when you're viewing the map, it will most likely crash your game.

Rewards
When you reach level 2 you unlock an Outlaw sticker.
Level 4 gives you some outlaw clothes: jacket, bandana and a freakin' eyepatch! Posted Image You'll find them at your house.
At level 8 you receive a free custom car: Mercedes-Benz CLK 63 AMG Black Series Outlaw. Get it from the Used Car Dealer.

Yes, you have to launch it via UpLauncher.exe. If you use the RELOADED crack (TestDrive2.exe + rld.dll) you should restore the original UpLauncher.exe.

PS Let's move this in the other topic...

Thx Vlad.

In case anyone is interested in the game manual, which Atari forgot to include as a pdf, someone at the official forum scanned his paper manual. I reuploaded it to mediafire because it's easier to download.

http://www.kitguru.net/software/gaming/slyvia/test-drive-2-unlimited-causes-backlash-among-gamers/

Quote:

Test Drive 2 Unlimited has been a much awaited game from Eden Games/Atari, however since it was released, the community has been up in arms due to bugs, which make the game basically unplayable.
Eden Games, the developer have said they are aware of the issues, some of which are network reliant game components which have been causing huge issues with the online element of the title. They have been taken completely offline while they work around the clock to sort out the code. It begs the question, why was the game released in the first place with broken code? Eden Games are taking the issue so seriously that they are pulling coders and developers off other titles to help solve the plethora of issues with the game. Some of the staff have apparently been working around the clock, without leaving the offices the situation is that dire.

............................

KitGuru says: Atari may very well start offering free content for the game as a peace offering, once they get the major issues fixed.

Hell yeah @the free stuff :D

Btw, when they say they've taken it offline, they really deactivated the servers, which means paying customers can't use their online profiles, an creating and offline profile means you start from zero

yep, it's great if you wanna download it for free and play offline, for now

After they fix the problems with the servers (noticed myself they are down pretty often) and fix all the other crap online-related and release (atleast) one patch, I think it would (might) worth buying it as well (for the multiplayer) (if the prices drop a bit)

but the thing I'm expecting the most from Atari is a huge DLC (carpack) like the one they've made for TDU1 (witch had extra 45 cars)

PS: Does the control of the cars still suck on Xbox360 or using Controller on PC ? just wonderin...

just found this on Stem forum

"Guy"

I can tell you this. Golf GTI, a frontwheeldrive car with all weight in the front oversteer so heavily in corners its not even funny. If you dont know basic car mechanics like this its over, the person responsible for this game should never ever again try to make a game, much less a car game.

I thought it was only me, The fucking front wheel Golf has more oversteer than a bloody RWD Chevy Camaro :loool:

If you want to know why car handling sucks so much take a look at your character in the mirror while walking. I'm thinking that's not far from how their car mechanics also work
