btw I think the Skidrow update also changed the way the cars get dirty, not it turns green after mowing the grass with my Veyron

My tires were turning green/brown/white, depending on the terrain, even before the patch. Or are you talking about the car body?

I'll take you up on that challenge :D Hope I have enough cash though...

the second is epic tho.. but you can also see in that image what I mean about the spinning wheels- they're just flat textured planes, there is no depth to them at all - imo no game should use textured planes, they should use the real spinning wheel

Yeah, but I think they only use them when you're in Photo Mode, 'cause otherwise the wheels would be static. It makes sense imo, there's no other easy way to get the spinning effect when you have to freeze everything.

true, that's the drawback of having real wheels, they're not spinning when you freeze shyt (like in IV) ..but that's what PhotoShop's for :p

I found this long long long straight road yesterday that would be more than apt for top speed runs.. I was in the Maro doing 191 for like 4 minutes or more - but now I can't find it because the shitty ass map zoom never works ..works once or twice but then it stops working.. or it just doesn't work at all

Ibiza or Hawaii? If you find it again please share, I've been trying to beat Vlad's top speed :D but every time I hit a bump with the Vey it catches air and slows down. Have you tried to remap the zoom keys?

About the wheels, would it be possible, at least in theory, for a game to simulate the spinning effect by placing multiple semi-transparent rims at different positions?

I was on both islands yesterday, so I'm having trouble recalling, but Ibiza is waaaaay too small for that long of a road so I have to say it was Oahu - negative on the remap

I don't see why not.. I'd like to test TDU's methods tho, I'll bet they're not even spinning (eg- I don't think the wheels actually turn) - the alpha meshes wouldn't be so bad if they were modeled to match the rim face depth and shape tho

If they\re not spinning, how is the effect achieved when you're driving? Do you think they're using textures again, or is there another way?

the textures are rotational blurred with an alpha so you can see between the blur - they might spin a little bit, but slowly vs fast.. take any tdu car for a drive @like 3mph (just barely creepn), then freeze it and look at the rims

This is where I set my record, (from North to South) but I think 429 is Veyron's Top Speed, tried 4 times, couldn't get more from it

btw you can't do a such thing in Ibiza, the roads are all bumpy, curvy, and thin (Oahu also has as extra a thinner emergency witch can be used for over passing the traffic )

btw is there a faster car in TDU than the Veyron ? :war:

I just thought of something. I've been playing with Texmod ever since the game came out, extracting textures and stuff. I don't recall seeing any textures for the spinning wheel, and I tried again today while in Photo mode. Out of ~600 loaded textures none resembled anything that could be used for creating the illusion of spinning wheels...

But I did find something else.
Here is the texture for the Ariel Atom logo brake calipers and rims:

At 10km/h, the logo on the calipers is smeared, because it's "spinning":

But it is in fact the original logo, because when I select it with Texmod you can see it on the image:

The same thing happens with the texture used for brake disks:

At higher speeds, the "A" from the center of the rim is also smeared/blurred, but again it seems that it is in fact the default texture:

So what do you think, is the game actually using some sort of 3D effect to make the wheels look like they're spinning when you're in Photo mode, or am I missing something?

that buggy looks better than anything else I've seen.. but I know they use a flat mesh and blurred textures for the spinning effect just like nfs does.. however, I haven't set up my Zm's path to the wheel map folder yet ..so I'll try sometime whenever lol

here's the path I was talkn about, I travel north to south, but you can use the south image to reference where it is... 271mph eats up that road a LOT faster than 191 tho lol

..and how did you get it up to 284mph Shadow? I've got a lvl 3 tune on mines, and I can't imagine one more lvl giving me an extra 13mph ..matta fact, I haven't noticed any top speed changes when it comes to tuning -edit- NVM, I just realized you said the SS

Thanks, that IS a nice road but I already tried it and couldn't break 400km/h because it has a lot of bumps. There's actually a big one where I jumped for 200+ meters :D

I used the highway between your's and Vlad's road, and he was right, 429 is max for the stock Grand Sport :D

Lemme know if you find anything, I looked everywhere and I can't find any blurred/spinning things (except for a 256x256 texture I think is used by traffic cars).
I think I found it and it's a shader effect:
\TDU2\Euro\Shaders\TD_WheelRadialBlur.sob

yeah, it's only on that last stretch where I got up to speed (well after the 'leap o faith' LOL), but again, it seemed a LOT straighter and longer @191mph :hehe: - and yet another find eh? you're rockn it on this TDU2 shiz bro..

Guys do you really like this game i mean do you find it any better than our gud ol nfs? i hate the handling IT SUCKS! as for the graphics i would give it a 7 for the exteriors. but the sims like gameplay who needs that in a racing game?
