Very helpful; before to merge the polygons I used "Create -> Polygon -> Fan" and it took too long. Now I know how to do everything faster. Thank you very much

tnx for this awesome tut, it really helped me alot with the doors on the RX-7 http://img809.imageshack.us/i/doorsill1.png/ http://img843.imageshack.us/i/doorsill2.png/ now i only need to copy this door sill to the other door and make sills (or copy them again) onto the chassis and then i'm done with the doors

could someone throw some light on this part please? do we have to start extruding the inner cockpit part too like we did with the outer body part? or do we just fill the empty space between the the newly created body part and the interior part? Edited by Nm69, Nov 30 2010, 12:50:19 AM.

start extruding the interior part out, yes.. then connect them together, and you're done |

Zmod is for converting, not modeling.

so what? It's pretty much the same in MAX. Also, I can finish minor stuffs in ZM faster, then in max.. AND, since I use ZM for converting, I wouldn't lose time exporting and importing them |

I used ZM for modelling, its very simple... 3Ds Max is very difficult for me. =)

I really got problems with this, I managed to extrude the exterior but I have no idea what to do next. I'm still new to this extruding part and I'm not very familiar with the controls. I could use more tips on this. |

now, you need to scale it down on umm... XY, if you're using ZM. make it so that the extruded part wouldn't actually be extruded at all, more likely scaling them down. It's almost midnight here, I can't even think in my native language. I'll try and explain tomorrow, hopefully, with a few pictures. What car are you working on btw? |

so you extrude the door's exterior part, but you don't move them at all. Basically, just click once, and that's it, ZM's gonna select the new verts automatically (IIRC, same in max). Now, scale them down on the side, so they'd form a thin layer of metal on the door. Move each vert so it would fit the shape you want them. Go on like this, same with the interior, and as the last step, weld them. Which tool are you using btw? |

I just seen your post sorry ![]() The biggest problem I'm having is knowing which verts I should actually select. I don't know if these are the correct ones or not. Could you make a closer screenshot of the verts you have selected? |

I don't have the file anymore. It doesn't matter. Select some, extrude it, and if they are too much, you can still delete, if they are not enough, you can add some. |
