![]() The muscular buckskin snowflake appaloosa stud pulled himself up onto the shores of the battle grounds. Today was the day he would fight Draconian for the ownership of Crystal Barrier and the mares it contained. The land was perfect for what Zac needed in his life right now. The buckskin stud had even gone out of his way to figure out the names of Draconian's mares that he held claim over. Zac would not force them to stay or at least he did not intend to, but he would see how this battle or initial negotiation segment panned out. To his knowledge Draconian only had three mares one of which was his half sister Belize. The other two's names were Katie and Crete, while he had not seen them in person he hoped to get better acquainted with them after he won this battle. Draconian was a bit of hissy when Zacarias had first challenged for his land and while it was normal to be angry this guy had thrown a bit of a tantrum. As Zacarias thought about Draconian, he moved farther inland looking for the place where this battle would unfold. He wanted it to be completely even footing, an advantage in terrain could too easily turn into a disadvantage. He could not afford to be working against the terrain and another stallions attack. This was his first battle, he would not pretend that he was an experienced champ but neither would he make it clear his inexperience on the battle field. Zac finally found the spot where he would fight for Crystal Barrier and the two mares that were not related to himself. Belize could and would make her own choices. The clearing was surrounded but a thick ring of evergreens and the footing was completely flat. The surface was not marred by rocks or anything that could be used as an advantage. All that was left to do now was wait. OOC: I would like to use my +0 battle points from the 2012 Kormada Advent Calendar for this battle. (I have decided not to use any. This was Ok'ed by Mag!) Zacarias is battling Draconian for Claim of Crystal Barrier and what ever mares reside with its boarders! Edited by Kat., May 25 2014, 11:25 PM.

OOC :: I'll be replying later. I've been working nonstop the past few days. I believe the battle should be for the land and not for the mares. And I'm only addressing the land in this battle. Mares can be fought for another time.

Sorry Sen, but the land and mares are part of this battle, seeing as these are Ghost's terms, and she is the challenger. Negotiations can be put forward in character, of course, but if nothing is agreed to, then the battle stands at the challenger's terms. |

![]() The fewspot stallion was irritated. He hadn't had to leave Crystal Barrier for some time, and he was content to stay that way until going to look for more mares. But the plans changed when this upstart invaded his home. Draconian was not pleased, to say the least. He had to battle though despite how much he'd rather stay in the Barrier. This stallion was going to take it away from him otherwise. The fewspot rolled his brawny shoulders and snorted irritably. And Draconian hardly had a tantrum, despite what Zacarias thought. Merely degrading words to send the colt on his way. If Zacarias really thought it was a tantrum, then he was as childish as Draconian supposed. Draconian found his opponent's scent and followed it to a clearing. Flat area. No rocks. Even footing. A good arena for battle. An adequate choice on Zac's part. "What are your terms?" The stallion shifted his weight evenly on his hooves. He couldn't be caught off-guard. Edited by ƒierce, May 27 2014, 01:35 PM.

![]() The stocky buckskin snowflake appaloosa patterned stallion was relaxed, his hoof was cocked and his muscles were not tense. It did no good to get worked up and spend precious energy being high strung before the actual battle. This however did not mean that he was lackadaisical. Zacarias was alert and focused ready for the upcoming battle. Black rimed ears pricked forward waiting for any sounds that would alert him to Draconian's arrival. As he waited for the other stud to arrive Zacarias began to think about the future. A small smile edged its way onto his handsome strong features as he imagined his future home over run by his mares and children. It was a wonderful dream and winning this battle would take him just one step closer to obtaining it. Zacarias never had a particularly high level of ambition or power lust coursing through his veins, but he had no wish to be walked all over either. He had grown up listening to stories of the big three dark stallions and their offspring, namely Cian and Viral, the latter of the two died before Zacarias's birth or shortly after, but he had certainly left his mark on those equines he left behind. It was on this topic of thought that he was abruptly pulled out of when he caught the first hint of Draconian's scent. The wind had shifted in the buckskin snowflakes favor and he had a few seconds to prepare himself before the older few spots stallion came into the clearing. Zacarias uncocked his hoof and shifted his weight around, though he still remained relaxed and prepared. Zacarias's midnight blue gaze traveled over the form of his competition. It would be a good fight to be sure, but Zac could feel his nerves. He was not perfect (nor had he claimed ever to be) and he told himself it was only natural to feel a bit nervous before your first battle. Not allowing the nerves to show on his features or through his body language Zacarias listened as Draconian opened his mouth to speak. Zacarias's eye contact did not waver as Draconian kept it short and sweet. He took a few moments to decide how best to phrase his terms before speaking in a confident unwavering voice. "My Terms are as follows: I win I get claim over Crystal Barrier and all mares that you currently have claim over or that are residing in the Barrier. I lose and I will leave you in peace for the allotted amount of time." Zacarias would make no promises for the future because he could not possibly know what was in store for him and he refused to promise anything to another equine when he was unsure if he could follow through with it. Zacarias watched the other stallion carefully gauging his reaction. His body was no longer visibly relaxed Zac was poised and ready, but he remained loose refusing to tense up. Deep blue eyes watched the other stallion carefully making sure that he would and could be ready to spring into action if Draconian tried to make his move early and take him by surprise. ![]() The thought of having to fight for his home forced heated fury to wash through the stallion's veins. He was infuriated. Neither he nor his father Morte in his younger days would have allowed an upstart to think they could take the Barrier just like that. The older stallion pinned his ears, protecting them should Zac strike first. Not all stallions were diplomatic. "I propose that, should I win, I keep claim over my land and mares and you stay away for double the allotted time. Should I lose, I'll be back to challenge when allowed." There was no way he would stay away for more than however long if Zacarias won this battle. There was no way he would let this boy take his three mares and whatever child Katie had yet to bring home. His child would not be raised by a stranger. |

![]() Zacarias watched Draconian carefully through smoldering dark blue eyes. He could tell just from Draconian's body language that he was upset about something. To be perfectly honest Zac was getting very tired of his presumptuous nature and entitled attitude. Battling was a part of being a herd stallion and if Draconian did not want to then he should just quit trying to be a herd stallion and go live in a hole somewhere. If Draconian really thought he was better than Zac he would not be having a hissy fit like a little filly and would stud up and fight him. Zac smiled blandly at Draconian hinting at none of the annoyance bubbling inside of him. Listening to the other stallion speak Zac nearly snorted in amusement. "Thats quiet the double standard you have set up." Zac replied an amused smile curling up the corners of his lips. He would not agree to Draconian's terms not by a long shot. Being the challenger gave him the advantage if only because he had leverage to set what ever terms he pleased for this battle, and they would stand if nothing else was agreed upon. Which seems to be the case here, because Zac would not agree to Draconian's double standards. "Seeing as you feel it fit to impose double standards and seem to think you are so much better than myself, I only see this ending up in a fight. If you are truly as good as you think you are this battle should be of no consequence to you. Just try not to be too alarmed when I beat you. My terms stand as previously stated." With that final statement, Zacarias readied to begin his first attack. A t t a c k #1 Zacarias stilled his body for a few moments letting the calmness and clarity enter his mind. He focused his entire being on the task at hand. He would beat this stud and wipe out his confident and bratty attitude. Zac opened his eyes and in the next instant he was closing the gap between himself and Draconian. As he got with in striking distance his brain was rapidly clicking through the different attacks that could be the most damaging to his opponent. The moment came when Zacarias was directly in front of Draconian and with out hesitation he attacked. He was aiming for the soft flesh at the base of neck, where it meets the chest. Using his full weight Zacarias lunged forward and attempted to bite down hard on his fleshy target. A liquid that tasted a lot like blood filled his mouth but he was unsure if he had actually hit his target or if the stud had managed to avoid his direct attack. Zacarias backed away muscles tense and ready for action should Draconian decide to try and take him by surprise. |

Draconian smirked when the younger stallion spoke. He knew none of his mares would stand to stay with Zacarias, except maybe Crete, and the spotted stallion had hardly seen the mare since he'd claimed her. Even with Zac's terms, Draconian would be back. He would hardly stand to lose to a stallion many years his junior. As the young stallion stilled his body Draconian focused and breathed slowly, opening his eyes, ready for the attack. Defense 1 As Zacarias charged, Draconian tucked his ears against his neck, protecting them from being ripped from his skull. When it seemed that the spotted stallion truly was charging straight for him, the few spot half-reared, head and chin tucking down to protect the most important and tender part of his neck. The few spots legs hugged close to his body, pulling upward. Zacarias lunged forward, his teeth hitting his mark. Draconian groaned as the young stud bit into his own skin. Draconian's skin was broken, Zac's teeth hitting bloody flesh and ripping. There would be a scar, and Drac would have to remind himself to move carefully when this was over. His brown eyes steeled over, ready for the attack. Attack 1 The few spot steadied himself, waiting for the younger male to back up slightly. His front hooves shot out like pistols in sync. His left hoof moved down hard, aiming to knock and scratch his opponent's face, while his right shot down at an angle, seeking Zac's cheek or temple. His goal was to break Zacarias's jaw, knock him silly at the temple, or get a few good deep cuts at his face. Draconian might have sworn there was impact, but, in the heat of battle, there was no telling. His front half lowered to the ground, yellowed teeth bared. |

![]() Defense / Damage #1 The satisfaction of feeling his teeth bury themselves into Draconians neck was beyond thrilling. Zacarias had never been a sadistic or blood thirsty killer, but Draconian's blood was not something he had an aversion to spilling. The thrill of the first attack had him wrapped up in his own thoughts which was his first mistake. Not paying enough attention to what Draconian's move would be, it was not until the few spot stallion was rearing up over him that Zacarias's focus returned and by that time it was nearly too late to avoid most of the attack. Zac yanked his head sideways making Drac miss the temple by just a small margin. Instead of the temple he felt Draconian's first hoof connect above his bi-colored left eye. The impact of the blow resounded through Zac's head and even made him loose sight in his left eye for a few moment. Zac did not have time to stop and asses the damage done any further because Draconian's second hoof only a split second later connected with the bridge of his nose. Zac felt a sharp pain as Draconian's hoof slammed against his nose. Zac reeled away from the other stallion. The great pain in his nose suggested that Draconian had fractured his nasal bone in some way. Zac's head throbbed and could tell that there was a pretty good sized stream of blood running down his face from where Draconian had caught him above the eye with his hoof and broken the skin. Zac could also tell that blood was running out of his nose because he could taste it in his mouth as it ran down his nose before dripping to the ground. Zacarias was having a hard time focusing on what he came here to do. The blow Draconian dealt him might have even given him a mild concussion, but that could be dealt with later, right now Zac needed to focus on beating this good for nothing stallion. Attack #2 What had felt like minutes since Draconian had attacked, in reality it had only been a few seconds. Zac watched the other stallion land back on all fours. He did not give Draconian the time to pull himself back together after his attack. As soon as his hooves touched the earth Zac tucked his head to protect his throat and reared high into the air. Zac made like he was going to plunge his hooves downward in nearly the same attack that Draconian had just dealt him, but at the last possible second Zac threw his weight in another direction hoping to drive his hooves into the few spots stallions shoulder. Zac was hoping that the force of his attack would either break or dislocated the other studs shoulder. Zacarias thought he felt himself connect with the other studs shoulder, but with the blood from the wound above his eye clouding his left eye and the mild concussion making his head throb violently, Zacarias was unsure if he had even his his target. Dropping to the ground Zac backed away carefully from the other stallion, trying to keep his focus and sights on the other stallion. |

Draconian knew better than to gloat over the damage he had done to the younger stallion: the blood running down Zac's nose and down over his eye. He had to fight the glee at having drawn blood, harnessing the raw bloodlust to fuel his rage. Defense 2 His eyes had been on Zacarias all while returning the ground, seeing the other male rise up on his hindlegs came as no surprise. The few spot's mind raced at what to do. His ears were still pinned, but the stallion angled his head down and part of his forehand away so that Zac could not return the favor and strike his face, his neck throbbed and stung with the action of moving his neck in such a way. Yet the young stallion had not done as Draconian had anticipated. The few spot felt the male's hooves make impact with the skin of his shoulder, the force of the blow nearly shattering his shoulder. Draconian groaned, gnashing his molars together. There was no telling from him about how much damage Zacarias had done. His right shoulder bone was shattered, putting weight on it was a no-go, and thinking of using his leg in an attack was impossible. The few spot would suffer the damage of this battle, very likely, for his entire life, and he would have to pray to be able to use his leg again properly. Attack 2 Taking notice of how Zac's head was tucked to prevent his neck, Draconian would have guessed that the young stallion never would have thought to prevent one thing: his nose. A viable asset not to be taken lightly. Using the angle of his head to his advantage, the few spot forced his muzzle and teeth to lash out like a cobra strike. He aimed for nostrils, lips, eyes, or even the nasal bone that he had damaged, seeking to rip, tear, or damage anything he could. Did he taste blood? Maybe from Zacarias's broken nose or eye, there was no telling. Draconian shook his head once when he thought something was between his teeth, possibly enhancing any damage that might have occurred. Draconian let go and forced his forehand to move away from the young male, neck throbbing and dripping blood. His shoulder was bleeding, cut from Zac's hooves. Fresh pain poisoned him and shot through his nerves from the blow and neck wound. The few spot may very well have to spend the next few months on the blood-reddened island. His tail lashed against his hocks. Draconian knew he was lucky to have even survived a battle, to not have been bitten in the neck or strangled, drowning in his own blood. The stallion favored his right front leg, taking care to not strain the muscles but not let it touch the ground either. |

Zac watched, a fierce light glittering in his eyes as Draconian stumbled under the force of his attack. Seeing the other stud unable to bare weight on his left fore leg, both gave Zacarias a great pleasure and deep disgust. While he was in this to win he had no desire to maim anyone for life, but he simply was doing what he had to in order to get what he wants. He has no regrets.Damage #2 Zacarias watched the other stallion warily knowing that Draconian would be charging in for his last attack. He tried to remain focused and alert but his head was throbbing so violently now, and he felt rather woozy that Zac did not see the attack coming until it was far to late. Somehow Draconian had managed to get Zacarias's upper lip in between his teeth. Zac's natural defense mechanism was to pull away, that ended up being a bad decision. Draconian did not release his grip so when Zac ripped his head away Zac felt the other studs teeth tear away a section of his upper lip. Zac stumbled backwards head throbbing and mouth aching and bleeding profusely. Zac ran his tongue over the wound and found that while Draconian's teeth had punctured his lip in multiple places there was only one place where his teeth had torn a section of his top lip away. Zacarias ran his tongue over the triangular slice taken out of his lip. Blood ran freely down his chin as he waited for the results of the battle. |

[using Kim's layout!] first attacks KAT. AND ZACARIAS comments: Attack to the base of the neck; simple, unoriginal, could be effective, but not very sneaky (Draconian would likely see it coming from a mile away). Well written though. originality: 2/5 damage done: 3/5 realism: 4/5 total: 09/15 SENTIAO AND DRACONIAN comments: Front hooves lashing out to the face area; explained and fairly original (at least I haven't seen it often). Could use some more description perhaps. originality: 3/5 damage done: 3/5 realism: 4/5 total: 10/15 ________________________________________________________________________ first defenses KAT. AND ZACARIAS comments: Wounds on face and possible mild concussion; very nice with having your character sustain damage! originality: 4/5 damage done: 4/5 realism: 4/5 total: 12/15 SENTIAO AND DRACONIAN comments: Wound at the base of neck; good damage done in accordance with the attack. originality: 3/5 damage done: 3/5 realism: 4/5 total: 10/15 ________________________________________________________________________ second attacks KAT. AND ZACARIAS comments: Front hooves lashing down at the shoulder; a bit more original and definitely more surprise on his side, effective move. originality: 3/5 damage done: 4/5 realism: 5/5 total: 12/15 SENTIAO AND DRACONIAN comments: Striking with teeth towards the facial area; simple and could be effective, though a bit repetitive from his earlier attack. originality: 3/5 damage done: 4/5 realism: 5/5 total: 12/15 ________________________________________________________________________ second defenses KAT. AND ZACARIAS comments: Bloodied and torn lip; pretty basic, not too much damage, but coordinates with the attack. originality: 3/5 damage done: 2/5 realism: 4/5 total: 09/15 SENTIAO AND DRACONIAN comments: Shattered shoulder bone; nicely done with giving your character some damage! originality: 4/5 damage done: 4/5 realism: 4/5 total: 12/15 ________________________________________________________________________ RESULTS KAT. AND ZACARIAS comments: Overall, a well-written battle. You did good with carrying out his wounds into your following posts, and having him sustain a reasonable amount of damage. Focus more on originality to do better next time! Also, you need to watch your grammar. Sometimes you leave out words or (mostly) commas. grammar / punctuation / spelling: 3/5 total: 45/65 SENTIAO AND DRACONIAN comments: Again, well-written. Your character held an adequate amount of damage, and also carried his wounds into your following posts. Try not to be so repetitive in your attacks to improve! At some points, you also leave out words or commas, which makes the flow of the posts a little choppy, but it wasn't too bad. grammar / punctuation / spelling: 3/5 . . . +2 points from advent calendar. total: 49/65 the victor is: SENTIAO AND DRACONIAN So close! This was really a good battle to read. You both have good skills, it's just about shaping them up a bit! Good job:) |

Just a note: While this judgement still stands with Draconian as the winner, with a shattered shoulder, it is highly unlikely for Draconian to survive with this injury. Please keep this in mind with future posts with this character. A fractured scapula is one thing, but a shatter scapula is another. Drac would not be able to walk.
