i've not yet begun to defile myself.
Posted ImageThe dark-colored mare had wandered the small islands in the area for a little over a year now. Nervous about trying to find a home. Lonely. Homesick. She wanted a family, but, according to her father's new mate, her only family member, her sire, couldn't even look at her. Calycrist turned her silvery eyes to the pretty landscape around her. It was nearly fall now. How time had flown. She had flowered into the physique of the mare she was supposed to be.

Her pelt was a deep black, red tints under direct sunlight. Her mane and tail are a fiery chestnut shade, quite in contrast to her dark hide. A black liver chestnut. Calycrist has an Arabesque build with hints of her Hispano heritage. A sock on her right forelock extends up to her canon, and a sock on her left hindleg only stays on her fetlock and pastern. She was beautiful, and maybe she needed some help to remind herself of that.

The mildly shy mare journeyed around the edge of the island, dark hooves and legs flecked with sand as she walked. She pondered on the prospect of finding a stallion, what life with him might subject her to, the children it might bring. She wouldn't treat her children as her father's mate had. Calycrist was ready to live her life, but she was cautious as to what that might bring.

Zacarias stood in the middle of the homeless grounds. As a foal he had been told many tales about this place, but it seemed not to live up to the standards set for it. There were very few mares that wandered around and even fewer that did not already have a hoard of stallions surrounding them. Zacarias gave a little sigh of exasperation. Diego had either been lying about the hoards of homeless mares that pimped them selves out here or Kormada was going through a serious decline in filly births. Realizing that there was little hope or chance of bringing one of the surrounded mares home with him to his temporary home Zac made his way at first further inland and then cut outwards. He had just about decided that he would not waste any more of his time here when another equine came into view. The wind shifted into his favor and he could tell by the lack of musk in the equines scent that it was a mare. His ears pricked forward suddenly his interest was piqued. As he got closer to her Zac noticed her obviously arabian breeding but there was a hardiness about her that he definitely liked to see in any mare he could potentially bring home with him.

Stopping a respectful distance away from the mare he wickered in greeting not wanting to alarm her. He gave her a few moments to look him over before he began speaking. "Do you mind if I join you? I am Zacarias, Beta of Lutes Vineyard." His smile was soft and friendly. He wanted to make the right impression on this mare for sure. She has the most unique and pretty eyes he had ever seen in another equine. They were a metalic-y silver color and Zac loved anything that was unique or rare.

OOC: Sorry for the short post it is 3:31 am and I am exhausted but I wanted to get this up while I still had muse! I love her silver eyes btw! :D

VAUS
'O there are days in this life, worth life and worth death'
_____________________________________________________

Vaus is finding this whole claiming mares lark a little more trying than he originally thought it would be. Although the Welsh hybrid didn’t think it would be a walk in the park, he had expected a greater number of mares to seep through into the common grounds, and that they would be a little more receptive to stallions approaching them. He concluded there must be some kind of black market going on that he didn’t know about. After all, other than Taryn, he knew no other soul in this part of the world, and his sister wasn’t speaking to him at the moment. He had left everything behind in ruins, so it wasn’t like he had something to fall back on. In short, Vaus had no allies, no mares, and he wanted both those things to change.

He was hoping that Cedar Outpost would attract mares, but how good the quality the land seems to be neither here or there. If he was female, he would rank the safety and lushness of a potential home quite highly, but then again, Vaus was never good at what the opposite sex liked other than good looks. He pushes through the thick rushes, having just spent the past ten minutes navigating a boggy patch of ground, only worsened by the bad weather. The oncoming winter has fluffed up his coat, not detracting from his buttermilk hue, only giving him a hardened, almost pony look. He spies a reddish mare shirking round a more central point, in full view, and is drawn towards her.

As always, the buckskin seems to arrive a moment too late. A taller stallion than himself strides up to the mare to introduce himself. Not wanting to be done out of a deal yet again, Vaus pursues. Upon getting closer he finds the mare taller than he first perceived, although her attractive, willowy frame does her many favours. She is certainly an unusual looking creature, although he has yet to hear her speak. Sometimes in these cases it is better to gaze upon the portrait and not let it speak, although Vaus hopes she will not let her beauty down. ‘My name is Vaus.’ He says a little louder than his normal speaking tone, taking the last few steps to join the group. ‘I live in a place called Cedar Outpost, perhaps you have heard of it?’ His tone is friendly, if a little testing. The homeless grounds may not be filled with mares, but there is no point turning to desperation just yet.

She was frightened by the prospect of starting over, but in an exhilarated way. It had been sort of hard to force herself to let go of the past, but now that she was in a totally different land, it was a lot easier to fool herself into thinking that this was truly a new beginning. And after all, she could be whoever she wanted to be here.

She just wasn't sure she deserved that. She felt guilty, and she knew there were some things that wouldn't, couldn't change. She was still the same inside, for better or worse. Still, Calycrist was determined to try. She would be happy, and to begin on such a journey to self-enlightenment she needed a home.

Which brought her back to the present, and her reason for being in this area, where she had heard that one could find a home. It was a weird concept - to just show up and find where you were meant to go. But she could run with it.

She was mildly surprised when not just one stallion showed up. She had always been told she was beautiful but she just didn't see it when she caught her reflection. She knew she looked unique, but that was different than simply beautiful, right? Still, what else would draw them in so quickly? It wasn't like they knew her.

"I don't mind at all." She replied in her soft but confident voice. She had come here for company after all. She was about to introduce herself in return when the second stallion came up and introduced himself.

Calycrist smiled, trying to remember all her manners as it had been a while since she had been in the company of others. "It's nice to meet you both. I'm afraid I haven't heard of either land...I'm new here, you see." She paused, looking between them both, "I'm Calycrist. Perhaps you could tell me more about your lands?" The one stallion had said he was merely a beta, but this phrasing of the question was easier and likely to stroke his ego.

ooc; Hi! Hope you're still interested in this - I just adopted Caly and will be taking over now. <3
