Bellafontana When the spark has gone and the candles are out; And the song is done and there's no more sound; Whispers turn to yelling and I'm thinking... *** Bella wandered into the foaling quarry, painfully aware of how close she was to the birthing of her foal. She was absolutely relieved when Virgill offered to come with her, for she wasn't sure she'd be able to cope with birthing for the first time without him. She knew he already knew what to expect, and so it was almost calming to have him walk with her, knowing what's about to happen. Since Virgill and Bella had mated, she'd grown a lot in size. It was becoming uncomfortable now, but the large mare plodded along through the inviting grounds. She could scent other mares and foals here, but she decided to look for a place where she'd like to birth. The warm presence of Virgill beside her was the only reason Bella was so calm right now. A sharp pain rolled through the mare, which she identified as a contraction. She slowed for a moment, closing her eyes, and when it passed she opened them again. She walked on, silent, looking for a place to stop. Her eyes scanned the area, and then they fell on a sheltered looking area. She nodded to it, then glanced at Virgill. "Let's stop there?" She directed it more as a rhetorical question, as she started towards it. Another contraction consumed the mare, and she stopped for a second. Once it passed, she carried on, then as they moved into the sheltered area, she relaxed more. She was truly happy to be out of sight of any predators now - but even happier that her claimer, and her foals father, was accompanying her. |

Bellafontana When the spark has gone and the candles are out; And the song is done and there's no more sound; Whispers turn to yelling and I'm thinking... *** Bella turns to the bay thoroughbred, as he begins to speak. She pricks her ears and listens carefully, ignoring the ever present dull ache. The mare thought for a moment, not sure whether she'd just want to be left alone whilst she attempts to expel the foal from her body. The cob thought for a short while longer, before her lips twitched and then she began to speak. "I think I'd prefer to be alone" She admitted carefully, watching for the stallions response. But her eyes pulled away from him for a moment as another contraction hit her. They were becoming more frequent and more painful now. She closed her eyes for a moment, and then opened them once the contraction had passed. The mare felt restless, like she needed to move. But she also didn't want to waste her energy by pacing, because she knew she'd need it for the actual birth. But still, the need to move was overwhelming and so she walked a few meters away from where she and Virgill were standing, and then back again. She repeated this a few times, but stopped when a contraction hit, and then another. The mare snorted, a simple noise of her frustration. |

Bellafontana When the spark has gone and the candles are out; And the song is done and there's no more sound; Whispers turn to yelling and I'm thinking... *** The colored cob mare was warmed by the bay thoroughbred stallion's almost demanding words. And then he disappeared off, and the mare relaxed ever so slightly. She continued to pace a few more times, before lowering herself to the ground. She wasn't even entirely sure what she was doing, but she knew that instinct would take over and so she wasn't so worried. She also knew that Virgill was there for her if she at any point needed him. Soon enough, it was time for the Irish Cob to attempt to free the foal into the world. The mare remained calm and she allowed her body to push the foal from her. A short while later, the foal slipped free from the mare. She looked over at it, and nickered happily. She got up and cleaned up the foal. It was a colt. And he was adorable. Name ideas flicked through the mares mind but she decided to wait until Virgill joined her again. "Virgill?" Bella rasped out a call to her claimer, and her foals father. She waited for the familiar thoroughbred figure to appear. The mare was delighted at the darker bay and white foal that attempted to raise itself from the ground. ![]() The small colt looked up at a larger equine, who was licking his head roughly. He squeaked in protest, immediately aware of this mare to be his mother. After a short while, the colt just flattened his ears against his head in annoyance. But soon his mother finished, and he squeaked in delight. He was still splayed on the floor, his long legs awkwardly just there. The colt tilted his head when his mother spoke, seemingly calling out to someone. The colt followed her gaze, and waited for what would emerge. |

The stallions ears pricked up when he heard the mare's voice calling his name. He looked around and slowly began to approach the mare. Soon the stallion saw the mares form and near her was a colt. A stunning colt, mostly white with some dark bay markings like his fathers color. The bay can't help but allow a smile to cross his lips. His warm gaze is directed at the mare as he takes a step closer. "He is wonderful" he says to the mare. He stretches his muzzle towards the colt and sniffs him. | ||||

Bellafontana When the spark has gone and the candles are out; And the song is done and there's no more sound; Whispers turn to yelling and I'm thinking... *** Bella looked up at Virgill who emerged. The mare saw a smile perk on his lips, which caused the mare to smile also. She was happy that the thoroughbred seemed happy with their little colt. The stallion stepped closer, and spoke. "Yes, he really is" The mare nodded in agreement. The colt was gorgeous, and heart-warming. "What shall we call him?" The colored mare asked, not having any ideas - and wanting to include the stallion. The mare's ears flickered as the bay stallion stretched his muzzle towards their colt and sniffed. ![]() The colt squeaked as a large bay stallion emerged from the flora. The colt squirmed, attempting to get to his feet. He frowned as he fell in a heap on the floor and gave up for a while. The two equines seemed to speak to each other, and the colt tilted his head. He listened, his little ears flickering at all the sounds. Suddenly the bare stallion moved his muzzle towards the colt, and so he reached his muzzle out. Their muzzles touched, and the colt squeaked in surprise and fell backwards. He still hadn't grasped the concept of what his long legs were meant to be used for.
