The dappled grey andalusian mare was nervous as she crossed the borders into the homeless grounds. This was truly the last step in her downfall. In her heart she wished she could hate sergio, and even rihannon but it was not within her to do so. So here she was, cantering gracefully as the snowflakes swirled around her and the morning sun shone down on her as if she were some sort of angel, sent from the heavens above. A sigh escapes her, and her breath forms a fog that soon drifts away. Her normally sleek coat was thick from winter, but still, one could see she was beautiful.

She doesnt stop until she stands atop a snow covered hill, and all around her she saw stallions surrounding mares and she sighed again. To her, this was something akin to crows falling on fresh carrion. Being set upon by stallions, that was something she would never have been subjected to in her old life. A mate would have been hand picked for her by her father, to rule at her side. Those days were beyond her now, which brought sadness to her deep, earthy brown eyes. A tear slid down her silvery grey cheek as she looked hard at the ground, getting her emotions under control.

After taking a few deep breaths and watching them dissipate in the cold winter air, she felt ready to reveal herself. Taking another deep breath, she rose onto her hind legs and cried out, the sound ringing out like a regal command, as it once should have been. She looked like a queen, her flowing mane and tail billowing in the wind, if only for a few seconds. She came back down to earth with a thud, her eyes and ears alert for approaching equines. This was it, the end of her life as she knew it, but a new chapter would soon begin.

ZERIKthe guilt's no good, and it only shames us more
Upon hearing the sound of a mare on the air, the rose gray stallion had immediately veered his body toward the call. Clearly she wanted someone to come to her. The older stallion strides forward, Arabian features inquisitive. Since Bliss had disappeared and Gwen began wandering again, Zerik found himself alone most of the time, since Rachel did not often seek his attention. A sigh parts his lips; the stallion would be twelve years-old later this season. Twelve years and so little to show for it. The rose gray comes out of his thoughts as he sees a dappled gray mare. She was simply divine. Despite her beauty, Zerik could feel whatever sadness there was radiating from her. Maybe he could change that for her over time. His rose gray form approaches slowly, a nicker parting his lips to let her know he was there. His tenor tones were gentle. "Hello. My name is Zerik. May I know your name?"

The paint stallion wondered through the homeless grounds. He had not yet found any mare whom had caught his eye or made him wish to take her home. His ears pricked as he heard a rather regal call, and started towards that direction. As he approached, a pretty dappled grey andalusian came into view - but as did another stallion. Quaintá narrowed his eyes, hesitating for a moment. He'd not yet had competition over a mare yet, but he just felt content in finding more about the mare whom he'd heard call out. And so he continued forward, ignoring the fact the rose gray stallion was making the black overo painfully aware that he'd have to fight, not in literal terms, for the mare if he wished to have her accompany him back to Signil's Noose. But still, he pursued the want in taking the mare home.

The stallion stepped on, the mare was on her hind legs as she called out. Her flowing mane in the wind was breath-taking. He walked on, approaching the mare. His lips twitched as he debated letting out a nicker, but he was aware that the mare was probably in the know that he was now approaching her. The paint horse slowed to a stop a few meters away from the mare. The other stallion - Zerik, as he had just heard - introduced himself and asked for the mares name. "I do hope I am not intruding?" Quaintá said carefully, flashing a glance at the other stallion - curious to his reaction of the paint himself approaching. "I am Quaintá" He dipped his head respectfully, picking up an essence of sadness that came from the mare. He kept quiet, not allowing his curiosity to make him seem rude or intruding.

Buck
don't push me - i'll fight it

___________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Buck had made another trip back to the Homeless. It felt almost strange, visiting a place more than once that was not his territory and staying there for a while. He was still so used to wandering the vast reaches of Kormada. But so far, his background seemed to have given him an advantage. When his home in Hope's Marsh had been challenged for, he went straight to Three Helms. He had known that that land was empty, and he knew right where it was. And the concept of moving from one land to another was nothing shocking to him. The only thing that had been hurt or shocked had been his pride, and that was something that had been rebuilt. Buck was not a particularly prideful stallion, but still, losing one's territory out of cowardice could hurt anyone's pride.

His pride had been rebuilt instantly when he realized the third tablet was found in his land. That was something that had been on his mind ever since the discovery. Buck feared that because the land might now contain some value besides beauty, stallions might challenge for it. He hated being challenged. But Three Helms was not something he was going to give up so easily. He would put up a fight this time for anyone who challenged him.

The Mustang eyed the homeless mares, hoping to run across the perfect one. This was his second visit to the Homeless, and he hoped that he would be leaving here with a mare he had managed to claim.

His attention was seized when he heard a bellowing cry come from a mare. He caught sight of the mare, and froze for a moment. Such beauty she held, and to make things better, she sounded desperate! Buck was left stunned for a moment. As a foal, he never would have given any mind to a mare like this, but now...

Buck snapped out of his little awe moment and moved towards her. He was beaten by two stallions, but that was all right. Buck approached her and smiled. He resembled his mother so much, with the wilderness in his face and the spirit in his heart. "My name is Buck of Three Helms." That title sounded sweet on his lips. "And I would be delighted to know your name."

Lindsey wasnt kept waiting long before not one but three stallions came to call on her. A gentle smile made its way onto her face as she bowed her head to each stallion in turn, out of respect. It was just the way she was raised. Her long tail whipped back and forth absent mindedly as she listened to them introduce themselves. They were each handsome, one being rose grey, another a paint and the last a primitie bay dun. She took a deep breath, and let it out before introducing herself.

"Hello Zerik, Quainta and Buck. I am Lindsey, a light mare from one of the outlying islands, and former princess of my people. I am here to find a stallion who i can give my heart to, and who will do the same in return." Her tone was very matter-of-fact but it was still kind. Snow swirled around her head like an icy crown as she stood still, a perfect picture of grace and nobility.

Her eyes drifted over her companions and she was so pleased with her selection at this moment. She smiled at each of them, hoping she hadnt been too upfront with them. "I almost forgot, it is lovely to meet you all." Her voice was gentle and she tossed her mane out of her face so she could look into their eyes. She sighed softly, and waited for their responses.

Zerik was not daunted by the two other stallions that came to the young mare. Noticing her youthful age, Zerik would not be too surprised if she chose either of her young suitors. Zerik might as well have been her father, but she was beautiful. And he was lonely. How could he resist? "It's wonderful to meet you, Lindsey. I would be more than willing to do what you ask, but I'm sure either one of these other stallion would say the same. I've lived my life, and all I desire is someone to share my whole heart with.." The rose gray stallion lowers his gaze, his thoughts on Gweneth who would never give up the open road and Bliss who had given it up too late. It seemed that those who cared for him cared more for wandering and being able to leave.

The stallion's eyes flicked to another stallion who joined them. It became apparent that his name was Buck, and so now there were four of them. Including himself. They all seemed to be very different, both by personality and appearance. The black overo seemed completely unbothered by the company of the two other stallions. It just meant the mare could find a stallion she was much more compatible with. The smile on the mares pretty features was rather warming and she definitely seemed to be rather open at the current moment. The paint didn't seem to mind very much though, and rather was pretty impressed. She was rather stunning. Despite seemingly not bothered, annoyance tickled inside the stallion. But he didn't let it show, for he wanted a calm and collected appearance.

The mare let out a deep breath before speaking, greeting each stallion. And then she gave them her name, which was Lindsey. She admitted to being a light, and the stallion flicked his tail happily. He was a neutral with light tendencies, so that worked out for him. And then she told them as to what she sort of required. His head turned sharply to Zerik as he spoke. His ears flicked. He kept back a bitter reply. "I've not yet any mare who has captured me the way you have" Quaintá admitted to Lindsey, his amber eyes sparkled with truth. Her smile was truly captivating. He stayed quiet now, as each equine seemed to wait for, the bay dun, Buck's response.
