Where the points don't matter!
The mare once more walked into the foaling quarry. She had come early this time, though left both her children at home, trusting Amber to find someone to watch her. The young mare could hardly stand not being by someone at all times, though her younger sister had been independent from the start. Nettie wasn't bothered by this, and preferred it. She didn't care about the filly, nor the filly her. Nettie had hoped and prayed that her third child was a colt, third times the charm right? Though she had never been much for luck or superstition. She had been able to skip a breeding season in between Astoria and this one, though she was still having her later than her others. She hoped it was a sign, maybe things were different this time, maybe she would finally get the respect she deserved. She felt cheated, and her personality had turned sour for it.

She no longer found joy in her life, it was all just hating her position. She had been in power for a bit, but the damn fillies had ruined it all. Things had to be different this time, or else she didn't know what she would do. Hades had given her a bit of peace this pregnancy, her already sour moods turned worse, and even Amber avoided her in the late months. She had stayed away from the herd as much as she could, and didn't feel apart of it anymore, nor did she fell she had to follow whatever the lead said. She was a loner now, though still felt like property to Hades.

She idly walked around the Quarry, starting to feel the pains that were old news now. She passed a lot of suitable places, though didn't feel like stopping just yet. Here she could be alone completely, despite the fact Hades might have sent a son to trail her. Here she wouldn't have to worry about anybody bothering her, especially Hades. So she walked slowly, already making up her mind she would spend more time than usual here, as much time as she could, maybe more than a week. It was the only refuge she had. The thought of passing though the gathering crossed her mind, though Hades would have her neck for that. She started to entertain the thought of meeting other equines that wouldn't scorn at her for her daughters, her failures, the life she lived. She shook her head, there wasn't anyone like that she wanted to talk too, lights and Neutrals knew nothing of her life, nothing of the dark's way of life, they would never understand.

She suddenly realized she had kept this part of herself distant from her for as long as she could remember. She had never seen this sentimental part. She shook her head, it was the hormones, her moods were constantly changing from one extreme to the next. She sighed, the pains were getting worse, and she knew she should pick a place. When she did it was a cluster of trees, and she waited, knowing this would be quick, but not less painful.

Hours later Nettie stood to look at her newest foal. She cursed as she saw the gender. Another useless filly. She grudgingly cleaned her off, the dawn starting to approach on the horizon. She had been up for hours, it was late night before the contractions had gotten serious. She thought of names as she licked her clean, her coat looking to be light colored, though she had a blaze and a dark muzzle. The small foal looked at her mother with big brown eyes, taking in everything she could, and Nettie just sighed, She knew she could start traveling back to the herd today, though still planned to stay a while, at least till she got bored. After that it was back to the chaotic hell she had lived in for the past several years.

She had to get out of there, but she couldn't think of a way. There was no way for her to escape while coming back, Hades surely still had his sons shadow his mares. It was quite annoying actually, and she had come to despise his sons as much as her fillies. If only she could have a colt, everything would be different, better. She would have the crown she deserved, it was unfair and dim-witted for a lead to be appointed by her offspring in her opinion. Years earlier she wouldn't have cared, but this drove her crazy, why had she only had fillies? She cursed herself again and turned her back to the foal, watching her go though the process of finding her feet out of the corner of her eye.

She at least seemed to be more dainty than her sisters, drawing more from her mother. At least she might turn out pretty, that was the only thing Nettie had to offer. Nettie sighed and watched with her full attention as she balanced on her long legs, swaying back and forth a minute before taking a few steps towards Nettie. She decided to name the filly Nevada as the sun peeked above the horizon, its rays shining though the trees around her. It was now she had realized she felt broken, the beast that was back in the fiery land had broken her. But with this realization she found a will to fight, to get out of her predicament. She would do whatever she had to to change her situation. She felt filled with a new purpose, felt like she could climb back to the top, to change the world, not too different from when she had been three, and she felt like she could do anything. Though now she had wisdom, and a sense of reality, she knew it would be hard to go back home with her head held high. She would try though, even without colt she would find a way to prove herself, if it meant standing up to Hades himself. She didn't feel afraid, only a burning desire to redeem her honor. She glanced back at the filly beside her, unsure how she would play into all this. She would most likely be a hindrance, and Nettie scowled at this, though she would have to deal with her. With this she watched the sun make it's slow rise over the horizon.
