Tink Hello, hello anybody out there? 'Cause I don't hear a sound. The world seemed to be roasting. The fire ball in the sky beat down relentlessly. A sweltering heat enveloped the plants and animals of Kormada. Shimmering heatwaves danced and swirled, adding an insane effect to land; distorting trees into monsters and hills into waves. Not one savory cloud made an attempt to fight off the rays of the sun. The grass made a crackle underfoot; dead in the heat. A sweet, sweet, breeze danced faintly here and there. It was the only cool to be found in this wretched hell. Birds seemed to fall from the sky, exhausted by the heat, and lay limp on the sagging branches of water-deprived trees. Oh, what a glorious day, eh? The equines that resided in this land of the homeless sought shelter from the heat in the darkest shadows of the trees. Ironic, is it not? The equines that resided in this land of the homeless....If they're homeless, then how can they reside here?.. This thought ambled across the mind of the goddess. Legs struck the ground in a slow, slow, walk. Her coal painted coat was soaked with sweat that etched out the muscles underneath them; displaying them in a prominent way. Ears swiveled aimlessly on her skull. They were in search of a voice; his voice... Nothing played through those ears though, the world had gone silent. It was dead in the heat. Dark eyes searched over the land, as she strolled, but they were useless. Only a foot or two could be seen by the mare. Oh, she might as well be blind. Those eyes though, looked warm and welcoming. They beckoned others to come near...No, they begged. Those eyes begged, pleaded, for another. Black skull was lifted a little higher, and a cry escaped from her. The cry was pitiful, it was heartbreaking. That cry sounded so lonely, so...so empty...It was a cry that asked, won't you love me?...The sound flew over the land; the only sound for miles. It echoed back to her; no reply. Her head sank a little. She just wanted to hear is voice. She just wanted to see him. Oh, why didn't he love her? Oh, why couldn't she find him? The little breeze played with the mare's shockingly white tinted mane and tail. They fluttered like angel wings around her dark form. The slow walk was continued by her. Seconds turned to minutes and minutes turned to hours, as she drifted over the earth. The walk slowed even more until she was stopped. Skull was uplifted once more, and another desperate cry raced over the earth. This cry was louder then the last, and stronger. It shook her body, and clung to the air for minutes...Once again, it echoed emptily back to her... The mare's warm, inviting, eyes closed. As her cry ended, those eyes opened again. The pleading look for another had intensified in those eyes. Her gaze swept useless over what she could see... Nothing...Nothing...no one.... My echo, echo is the only voice coming back. |
