The nearly white stallion breathed a breath of relief as his firgure swam up the shore of the homeless grounds. He had come from the southern most territory of Kormada to try his luck today at starting a herd. Unlike most equine Hyx lived in a land meant for the numerous other creatures of the planet, those who took on forms different from an equine. Though suitable for an equine the Hinterland was less easily navigated than other continents, one had to be nimble and agile on their feet to safely trek through most of it. Luckily by the time you reach his home, Warrior's Swamp, the terrain evened out. The only pitfall would be the humidity that stuck in the air all seasons besides winter, though he had come to appreciate the territory. It set him apart from others. His body shook, water beads slung off his slick coat and soaked tresses slapped the muscled forms of his sides. He wasn't a fresh out of the gate stallion, he had his run around, fought some battles and bettered with a little bit of age. At eight years he hardly considered himself spent, and held his head in a rather regal position. When enough time was taken to dry in Prime's warmth Hyx set out towards the wooded areas of the land, knowing well enough that most mares head for the meadow beyond it. The lipizzan stallion had been here a time or two, but passed up the gallivanting shows of young fillies, wishing to only surround himself with mares cut from a cloth vacant of self entitlement and more fulfilled with goals and ambition. He knew quite well things in life weren't handed to you, being adopted and working hard at proving himself to everyone. He wanted mares that would help him evolve further, not to hinder him with immaturity. As the shaded region of the forest began to thin out the cool breeze that rolled over the meadow met his opaque pelt, lifting his forelock from his face as his brown eyes worked to scan the region. The homeless had been rather empty and slow lately, but his trip here wasn't ended in vain. An impressive painted mare stood among the various colored flowers, standing there with an expressive face that looked as if she had a leveled mind about her. Deciding no harm could come with trying to learn more about the mare, Hyx covered the ground between them, a kind smile present on his face. He was raised by a light dam and a fair sire, he couldn't help but give others the benefit of the doubt, and believed there was no reason to mistrust until they gave action to. Standing at 16.3 hands he noticed the mare didn't shrink besides him, appreciating another's height and that eye contact wasn't too uneven. Taking a moment to admire her mismatched eyes before breaking the silence, intrigued ears tipped forward to the mare. "Fine spring day is it not?" Knowing some found small talk beneath him he wished to crunch any doubts of her holding the self entitlement bug early on. |

Soft brown eyes held the warm gaze of the overo mare's, wishing to know as much about her through the windows of her soul as possible. More often than not the homeless grounds were typical to rushed and short encounters. He wasn't one to skip formalities, and was a rather personable stallion. He wanted to know the mare before he instilled trust in anyone, and the one thing over all that he sought for in qualities was compassion. Kormada was lacking compassion, so many were completely indulged with themselves they never bothered to step back and look into how their actions impacted others. If it wasn't for the compassion he came across in Illusion and Covenant Hyx likely wouldn't have made it to adulthood, or at least without doing a few things he was ashamed of. He was able to keep his nobility because of the lessons they taught him, he liked to think he was a well composed as he was now because of his adoptive parents. Noticing something more in Obsidian than most young mares he smiled kindly, lips parting in response to her introduction. "Obsidian, it is my pleasure. You may call me Hyx, I come from Warrior's Swamp." Nares flared as he took in the crisp, clean air that was offered in the northern part of Kormada. It was different than his home in Warrior's Swamp. Really the land he resided in didn't offer the simple beauty of the ocean, the serene ruffle of the trees or the calming songs of birds. It was a land you wouldn't expect such a down to earth stallion to own, it was crowded by dying trees and marshy ground. Though Hyx saw it as a learning experience, and like always he learned how to appreciate it for what it did offer. For it was a safe haven for him and all those he invited to join him. Tucked in a corner of the land was fertility and green lush lands, with intertwining caverns fit for exploration and offering shelter from harsher elements. He began to wonder what it was the mare was here looking for, besides obviously a home. Deciding to be proactive Hyx parts his lips, offering another part to their conversation. "I imagine a young intellectual like yourself harbors some certain ambitions as to what you expect of your home. Care to share?" Quizzically the stallion tilts his head, the kindness in his smile didn't fade. This would help both of them decide if them discussing any further would be worth their time. So far she seemed like a respectable individual, but he wouldn't make any premature decisions, he didn't know much about her, and she didn't know much about him. They would have to change that before deciding how to approach their encounter and what would entail afterwards. |

Hyx's spirit was different, today had turned out different from the rest. He had come to the homeless grounds with low expectations, certainly not expecting to bring a mare home, which he still hadn't, but the ivory stallion didn't even expect to meet a mare worthy of a good conversation. He figured it being just Obsidian and himself helped, there were no overzealous stallions to bring the conversation down. It helped them both be themselves, though Hyx wasn't a fan of many other stallions he did try his best to not let them affect him, he usually did a good job at dealing with others like a big boy. The friendly mare gave her reply, he wasn't disappointed it was casual. Honestly he was relieved. She didn't expect much of this conversation either it appeared, and from what she described at wanting at home was everything himself and his unconventional land could offer. He smiles at her chuckle, understanding that she was more down to earth and didn't praise herself, which again was a nice adjustment. "Very well Obsidian, I find myself in complete agreement." He allowed a grin to appear, offering to keep the mood casual. "All that aside, I could offer you the companionship, shelter, food and water you desire in my home, Warrior's Swamp. Though the name isn't charming, and it isn't usual for an equine to reside in the Hinterland, I assure you it is a good home." His home had a quirky charm about it, and while Hyx didn't consider himself a rough kind of guy the quirkiness suited him for he believed he was truly one of a kind. |
