![]() source Cheney's foal stats He's holding back, he's hiding But what, I can't decide Why won't he be the king I know he is The king I see inside? Her brown eyes watched over the place. So much beauty was resting over the territory. It was early morning and the mare got a feeling that it would be her time soon. The skewbald mare had decided to go before the contractions would get overwhelming. It would then give her plenty of time to find a nice spot for her and hopefully healthy unborn foal. It was a little over a year since the mare last visited this place. A grin crosses her lips while she thinks about her steel gray colt. The skewbald mare had allowed her son to go a little away out of the territory where they now lived in. She was hoping he was safe and he had promised not to stay away for too long. Quicksilver missed her son a lot though, it was hard to let him go but she knew that it would happen one day and there was nothing she could do about it. Even though he was this young she still fully trusted him, the first months of his life the mare had no herd which lead to a lot of travel with the young colt. So he knew a little about where was safe and where not, he had told her that he was only going to Dreamscape and she doubted he would ever lie to his mother. The mare smiles at the thought when she met the palomino stallion again, and this time he had gotten himself a territory and asked Quicksilver to join him. Of course the mare said yes in the end, it was like she had fallen for the stallion the moment she laid her eyes upon him for the first time. A contraction causes the mare to pause for a moment. She takes a deep breath which easies the pain a little. The mare remembers it when she gave birth to Pippin how nervous she was, and the pain. However she isn’t as nervous now, she has a feeling everything will be fine. Quicksilver wished that she could have Florence close, she knew that this was his first foal and maybe he wanted to be there when it happened, though, the skewbald mare felt like she wanted some privacy so it might just be good that she was alone. The mare comes to a halt when she notices a nice place to stay on. It is like a little circle, with trees around it looking like a shelter. A smile crosses the mare’s lips; the place was perfect for her to lie on. Her gaze moves towards the horizon before she lies down. The sky is starting to light up, the light from the sun making the sky look pink and orange. A chill rushes through the mare’s spine, this was just perfect. She folds her legs and carefully allows her heavy pregnant body to touch the ground. It is a little uncomfortable to lie down like this and she tries to get more comfortable but is unable to do it because of another contraction, every muscle in her body is flexed but after few seconds she is able to relax them. Now every contraction came with only a two to three minute interval. Soon a big contraction shoots through the mare’s body. The sweat drips from Quicksilvers body as she tries to remain relaxed. The skewbald mare starts pushing; she can feel that the foal is on its way out. Soon the foal slides out and the mare takes a deep breath of exhaustion. For a moment she slowly allows her eyelids to cover her eyes. Everything is black, her heart has started to slow down but she can still hear it. Her ears rotated towards a sound, her heart speeds up again. The sound of the mares foal takes away all the tiredness; it was like she had been reborn. She slowly raises her head and not far away lays a foal, a beautiful palomino filly. The mare’s eyes shine with pride as she reaches for the foal with her muzzle. The mare notices that the filly has a white blaze on her face, like her father and brother. Quicksilver tiredly raises herself to for legs and stands above the foal. Watching as the palomino filly opens her eyes. The skewbald mare carefully licks the little filly’s face. The mare watches as the filly tried to stand up. The mare took a step back like she had done with her previous foal. Quicksilver watched as the palomino filly tried to get closer to her mother. It didn’t take that long for the filly to get up, two or three tries and she was on her feet. The mare remembers how quick Pippin was on his feet, maybe those two were siblings? Quicksilver takes a step towards the filly and allows her to nurse. The palomino filly stands on her thin, unstable legs and drinks, her short tail slapping from right to left. Quicksilver licks the little filly’s rump as she drinks. Like previously the filly needed a name, however Silver wanted to decide that with Florence. When she would return to him they would decide a name together, there were few names that crossed her mind. When the filly stopped nursing Quicksilver lies down on the ground and shortly after the filly comes next to her. Together they lie for some time. The warm from the sun making this even more comfortable than it already was. The mare slowly starts cleaning her foal a little more and soon the palomino filly falls asleep. Only if Florence was here to see this little miracle of theirs, he would soon though.
