An elegant mare with a fiery pelt waltzed up the sandy banks of the homeless grounds at a graceful gait known to only her Paso Fino bloodlines. Autumn was particularly kind to her already vibrant coat but the amazing dusks and dawns painted not only a rich picture in the sky but enhanced her natural beauty. She was built slender, like a dancer, her neck slightly arched though not standard for her breeding, it was a unique trait just for her. Long and thick locks swayed smoothly along with her gait and the rippling of the autumn breeze. Pretty soon the sand turned into glossy wisps of green. At this time of day, just as Prime rose to take it's seat in the sky for the day, magnificent hues ricocheted off of the delightful morning dew. Merida took a moment, not sure whether to revel in the morning beauty or to reach out into the open and potentially find a stallion to share it with.

Deciding she didn't come here to remain a loner her glistening sleek body made it's way further into the plush green meadow that stretched out over the horizon in front of her. She figured since she was such an early riser it might be a while before another approached, so in the mean time the same plush meadow she found so enchanting she also found it delectable. Her soft brown eyes took a quick gaze around before deciding she was indeed alone in company, shortly following she dropped her maw to graze. After all swimming such lengths would make anyone hungry for breakfast, right? Content with the amount of warmth Prime was giving off and the sounds of waking woodland creatures, not to mention the delicious grass she was consuming, she was in no hurry to move inland to the more crowded areas of the homeless grounds. Better company comes to those who waited is how she saw it.

Recently the dappled palomino stallion had claimed his first mare, her name was Sabina and she appeared to have some knowledge of half of the lands around Kormada, mainly since she was Kormada bred and born. He didn’t collect much information off her in the homeless grounds so he wasn’t quite sure what he got himself into but from what he could tell by spending a few hours with the mare and another stallion, Legolas, she was quite formal and reserved. Mairon liked the confidence in Sabina, he assumed she knew what she wanted, having a strong mind.

Since Mairon didn’t leave with her out of the homeless lands, he hoped her travels to Imperial Point aren’t so bad and that she gets to his land safe and sound, even though Imperial Point wasn’t a far distance away from this side of Kormada, he still worried. It was his first mare to claim anyway, so it was kind of expected, assuming that almost every stallion would be like this around their first claim.

By now, he had been roaming around these lands for days on end, looking for mares to swoop up and try to claim, he hadn’t had a days rest since he arrived in this place and Mairon by now was quite familiar with this land and how it worked and also how the stallions came by to use their ‘charm’, which would often disgust Mairon in a way. The dappled stallion was well rested here, regaining his energy after each day under a boulder that shadowed over a dip in the hill. He preferred to keep away from company around here.

The prime sun rays beamed on his bright coat as he walked calmly around the land in search of someone around here who wasn’t crowded by so many stallions. It was early in the morning, odd for him to be awake but Mairon decided he didn’t need anymore rest, he was feeling quite refreshed and alright about today. His strong and sturdy legs pushed his well formed and muscled form up a small hill that was covered in luscious grass, he would have stopped to consume a few strands but he felt it was unnecessary.

When Mairon reached the top of a hill, he came to an abrupt halt and took in a deep breath of morning air, he continued to do this for a few more breaths before scanning above the homeless land in search for a lovely mare, just in his luck he saw a bright and vibrant chestnut coloured mare grazing in the distance. Since the stallion felt so good about today, he left his spot in a calm and mannered trot in her direction, his posture strong and confident but not cocky. His neck crowned over his flexed chest.

By now, he assumed that the grazing mare would have noticed his arrival, so Mairon came to a halt a few meters away from the mare, enough to give her breathing space and not to feel threatened under his company. A slight grin creased his murky lips and cleared his husky throat before speaking, “lovely morning and a lovely mare, my day just got off to a better start already.” The dappled palomino stallion gave a light chuckle towards the mare, hoping not to offend her. Mairon composed himself again and decided to get introductions already over, “name’s Mairon, yours would be?” though he wouldn’t mind if the mare didn’t give her name, he has met a few of them ‘anonymous’ mares in his lifetime. It fell silent between the two, Mairon assumed another stallion would come by soon.

WELL SWEET MOTHER TERESA ON THE HOOD OF A MERCEDES BENZ

i did not come here to tell you how this was going to end
Winter is bearing down on everyone’s backs, and Thorin is no exception. As a former traveller, he knew how bitter and unforgiving the colder months could be, and everyday he spent in the common grounds he was constantly thinking about when he would return home. It would be his first winter in Infernal Meadows, and thankfully it was only himself and his one mare for company. He didn’t like having lots of equines in a new place, he needed this space and time for work out the land and how was best to use it. There would be plenty of food between the two of them, that wasn’t the Gypsy Vanner’s worry. It was how they would fare for next year, when hopefully the herd would be bigger. Thorin liked to think he would have a couple more mares with him in a year’s time, even a foal or two. He wasn’t very concerned about the last part, an heir would be well deserved in a few years time, but other than that the white stallion didn’t care much for foals.

His feathery feet made their way along the more coastal area of the homeless, his azure gaze finding no equine in sight. The beach and surrounding areas had proved popular for meeting mares Thorin had found, but none today. The air was sharp but prime was uncovered today with few clouds in the sky, casting a somewhat ferocious beam down onto the inhabitants of Kormada. His thick tail whisked around his heavy hindquarters, as the short male was stopped in his tracks by a feminine scent. It was fresh and from what he could tell, leading into the homeless. A mare had been here not so long ago, and if she had only just arrived there was a pretty strong chance she had not been claimed yet. Spurred on by this thought the Gypsy Vanner turned his direction towards the banks of the shoreline, climbing their sandy turrets with ease before moving off towards the trees and grasses.

Stumbling into the meadow quite by chance, he found his mystery lady. She was a vibrant chestnut, not too much taller than himself and pretty – always an advantage. She was grazing, but she was not alone. Another stallion by the looks of it had approached her before Thorin had the chance; he was again taller than the pure white male, and dappled buckskin. That would probably play to his favour – Thorin knew by now mares could be fickle and sometimes went for the better looking stallion. Deciding to go for it, the draft stallion approached the mare, whickering quietly to alert them of his presence. Nodding politely to the other stallion, he positioned himself not too close to him so they were both facing the mare in question.

“Greetings. My name is Thorin of Infernal Meadows. May I ask for your name?” His deep tones were quiet as his blue eyes looked to the unknown mare’s, waiting for her response.

Castor
7yr old Standardbred Stallion. Light Alliance. Claimer of Three Helms.

Life was an amusing thing sometimes. It could bring so much joy and happiness only to rip it away with one swoop. Joy and happiness only seemed to last in such fleeting quick movements. The bay standardbred stands on a small mound in the center of a meadow. The grass grows in patchy areas. Most of the area is covered in mud and dirt from years of hooves trampling over it. A cool breeze picks up his long black mane and sweeps it over his shiny back. Deciding he had enough of staring into the distance he motions his elegant long legs forward. He is soon in a trot as the ground falls away. The less appealing parts of the Homeless grounds soon fall way to more lush parts. He hadn't seen this before. Stopping for a brief moment to look around. There weren't too many mares here. Perhaps they felt their luck would be better further into the Grounds.

His brown eyes continue sweeping across the lush greenery. Coming to rest on brilliantly colored chestnut mare. Her beauty stood out on the green landscape. She was merely grazing. He then noticed the other stallions already standing with her. For a moment he hesitates approaching her. The handsome stallion believes he may have a chance still. Even if he is the late comer to the fold. Motioning his long athletic legs towards the trio he eyes each equine. One stallion was a handsome dappled palomino and the other a nearly white grey stallion. His coloring almost seemed plain in comparison. His coat a sleek shiny dark bay color. In some light parts of his coat looked lighter in shade. His legs were solid black as well as his mane and tail. His sleek appearance was somewhat ruined by the scars covering his coat. Some were quite large and painful looking. He wasn't embarassed by the scarring. To him they were a badge of honor. Though few outside of his family knew the true story. One day he would find a mare he could confide in.

Upon reaching the group the standardbred comes to a stop a few feet from the others. He nods respectfully to the other stallions. "Lovely day today wouldn't you say? My name is Castor. I hail from Three Helms." He refrains from asking of the mare's name. He assumes the other stallion have already done that for him. He remains silent for someone to speak next.

To Merida's surprise the homeless grounds were more active in this time of morning than she expected it to be. Sooner than she had anticipated approaching company made it's way closer to her. Feeling like to continue to graze would be rude she raised her head and did what she could to clear her throat. Sienna eyes moved to focus upon the palomino stallion as he approached nearer, the corners of her maw twisting into what could be received as a smile. His coat coloring was unique, unlike her own. Perhaps the most unique thing about her was her gait, though wouldn't know until they witnessed her in motion. She was of rare Paso Fino bloodlines, which most knew little to nothing about. She was a typical coloring for the breed, even further rendering her boring.

He met her with a compliment though. Not used to them she chuckled awkwardly. The palomino introduced himself as Mairon. Her smile returned and lips parted to speak softly. "Hello Mairon, it is my pleasure!" She was a rather cheeky mare, which some may find annoying. Though cheeky and for the most part laid back she would never do something she didn't want to do. Her parents had made the mistake of trying to betroth her, if there was something the dancer mare valued it was choosing love wisely. It was a story for a different day, and not a story for a stranger. As her thoughts temporarily consumed her attention another stallion approached. This one was just as striking in appearance, though the stark opposite of her own coat. His introduction took among the form of manners, which Merida could appreciate. "Thorin, what a lovely name." Head nodded to him in greeting with the intention of giving the two pleasant stallions the knowledge of her own name until yet another set of hoof beats were detected.

Neck twisted to look upon the newest to approach. Merida was shocked, she was expecting to sit in solitude for quite some time until a possible suitor would approach her average form. Now she had three stallions, all with mounds of potential, inquiring her for her name. The finely built bay introduced himself, brown eyes expressed interest as she took in the information he wished to disclaim. When silence fell over them once more she took it upon herself to take the pause to introduce herself before the opportunity got away from her again. "Marion, Thorin, Castor. Yes, it is a lovely day. I'm happy to share it with you three. My name is Merida." Her voice was kind, big eyes remained expressive with interest, still taken aback that so many took interest in her.

Mairon appeared to be quite content with him and this lovely mare in the early hours of morning here in the common grounds, the serenity he thought, was quite beautiful to him. The cool and vibrant colours of sunrise in the sky was another edition to this beauty. Cool spring breeze lightly graced the land, refreshing his awoken eyes from sleep not that he got much sleep in this lands anyway, the stallion would have preferred to be at his land; Imperial Point, thinking about it, he realized he hadn’t spent at least a night in his own land, his desires for mares led him straight here. Which was probably the right thing to do.

Just as the dappled palomino stallion was admiring the serenity here it wasn’t long until it was interrupted by incoming hooves. His ears swiveled on top of his skull, on back and one forth, he was uncertain from where they were directly coming from but he assumed it would be another mare hungry stallion, he had seen enough of them in his days now. Nevertheless, Mairon kept himself composed until the new arrival joined the two. A greeting nicker came from the new arrival as he approached and nodded towards Mairon in return, he thought it was quite nice of him so in return Mairon nodded his head now towards the white stallion who appeared to be quite shorted in height than Mairon. The dappled buckskin stallion was quite intrigued by the white stallion who had introduced himself as Thorin. Nothing else was said from either of them yet, dark chestnut orbs looked in the direction of the lovely chestnut mare who still remained anonymous and he assumed she would be sick of stallions asking to know her name. He felt sorry for the mares in common grounds at time, Mairon himself knew he couldn’t deal with challenges like this.

Lost in his thoughts the stallion didn’t notice the approach by another stallion, he immediantly was snapped out of his musings and looked towards the newcomer here. His build was lean and study yet this one didn’t ask for the mare’s name which would have been a good assumption on his behalf. The group of four now remained silent for a while longer until a female and melodic tone pierced through his audible hearing. The chestnut mare addressed all of them, probably hoping she would have all the stallion’s attention by now before introducing herself as Merida. Ah! What a lovely name he thought to himself, now knowing her name a pleasant smile grew on his murky lips. She was quite a cheery mare he also thought which was another plus about her.

Assuming that it was now he turn to speak, he cleared his dry throat, “Ah Merida, what a lovely name!” his tone was enthusiastic, the stallion wasn’t usually like this but he was in quite a lovely mood on this fine morning. The dappled palomino stallion had paused for the slightest moment, “assuming that none of us want to reside in the common grounds much longer, I was just wondering what you’d particularly want to know about each of us?” his tone now was a little less enthusiastic but still remained pleasant towards the mare. Mairon stood in silence wondering who would speak next.

Deciding that keeping his attention on the chestnut was his best tactic, the white stallion shifted his weight between his feathered feet as he gave Merida some time to adjust to her surroundings. She returned his head gesture, which Thorin appreciated, before complimenting his name. “Thank you.” The Gypsy Vanner said shortly, his thick tendrils of tail swishing round his pale hindquarters as he spoke. His pinkish lips curled up in a short smile with his words. He wasn’t aware of his name having any meaning, nor did he know why his parents had picked the name. He was the kind of stallion that hoped that when he had foals he would give them names with meaning, unlike his. But it was pretty, as the red mare had pointed out. Thorin hoped he was simply more than a pretty name and a pretty face.

Even though he and another stallion were already with Merida, yet another arrived. The third stallion was dark in comparison to both of them, his dark bay pelt littered with scars. Thorin’s own hide bore some reminders of previous battles, although fortunately his coat was so light it hid nearly all of them to the blind eye. Blue eyes surveyed the newcomer briefly, giving him the slightest of nods before Thorin turned back to face the mare. His tufted ears leaned towards the stallion as he spoke, stating his name to be Castor. Although his ragged appearance, the bay seemed cheerful and commented on the sort of day they were having. Thorin eyed him shrewdly. He personally thought there was more to this stallion that met the eye.

Eventually, when the chestnut had composed herself, she greeted them all officially, giving her name to be Merida. As he observed her silently, Thorin thought the name to suit her quite well, although he was not sure how. She still looked a little shocked they had all bothered to turn up, but she seemed considerate none the less. For the first time in a while, the Gypsy Vanner turned his azure gaze back to the first stallion. He had seemed very interested in Thorin when he had approached, although the alabaster male had largely ignored his palomino counterpart, not by rude manners, simply because of the nature of their conversation. Now the white stallion’s ears pricked forwards as Mairon spoke, questioning the red female whether she wanted them to disclose any information about themselves.

Turning his head back to Merida, the snowy stallion nodded in agreement to the first suitor, after all, he had nothing to add to Mairon’s statement. “It’s nice to meet you too.” He said quietly, as if this was an afterthought to his previous actions. Deciding that silence was the best tact, he waited patiently, seeing if Castor had anything to add.

The bay standardbred stands quietly among the group. They are all waiting patiently for their turn to speak. Waiting eagerly for the fair maiden to speak to them. Hoping that they will be the lucky one to escort her home. He knew coming in late may erode his chances with her. But he had to try. His dark ears surge forward when she speaks at last. Her name is expressed along with other pleasantries. He smiles. Shifting his athletic legs he waits for one ot the other males to speak. It would be rude to speak out of turn. The palomino speaks first. He compliments the mare's name and then asks her a question.

His black tail swishes to ward off flies. Though there aren't many. They still seem brave enough to gather despite the dropping temparatures. Soon the pale stallion speaks as well. He merely adds a compliment. The standardbred shifts his legs again. He wonders what he should add that hasn't already been asked. He hates to just start bragging about himself when the questions haven't been asked. "Soon it will be winter. Can't say that is my favorite time of year but it has its purpose." He scoffs silently and his random words. How silly of him. His father and brother would be laughing at him from up above. He smiles to recover his silliness and waits for someone to speak and forget about it

Mairon was cheery, Merida appreciated that. She needed more of that in her life, she was always too serious and unsure of herself. Though she was a bit alienated by his charm, she wasn't used to this wooing thing, and she wasn't all too sure she would ever get used to it. She wasn't the typical mare, she was sheltered as growing up, her parents tried to mold her into the perfect little sculpture of a lady, which in turn forced her to rebel. She wasn't proud of it, but she wasn't completely embarrassed either. Besides her feminine dancer like features she really was more tom boy.

The dappled buckskin complimented her name, and she smiled in gratitude. Taking simply compliments wasn't necessarily difficult for the mare, though a tad bit awkward. He had a warming enough ora about him that she found it easy enough to be at least moderately comfortable around him, which was rare... she was usually so reserved around strangers. He was admirably straight to the point however, posing a question she had to stop to think about the answer for. "Well Mairon, I'm not entirely sure. Without going too much into my drab history just being here with the ability to make my own decision is enough for me. Protection perhaps, respect. Things I've had to do without in the past, but to be bluntly honest, I don't know." She was honest, she didn't know what she should look for in a home, much less what she wanted. She just had to trust that the two stallions before her would treat her well should she go with them.

Feeling a little silly with herself she looked over to the quieter of the two stallions. He returned the statement of being happy to have met her, and she offered him a kind smile. He didn't say much, though he seemed friendly enough. This perhaps would compliment Merida's some what reserved and unsure personality better, but it sure wouldn't make her break her shell anymore. She wished to learn more about him, she could only hope he had something to add, seeing as she wasn't very equipped with social skills. They would have to excuse her for this.

Mairon particularly didn’t want to hang around the common grounds for much longer, he grew tired of the constant waiting around, his patience had never been a strong point in his personality which gave him advantages and disadvantages at times. Mairon had hoped that Merida wouldn’t take so long here, but after all, it was a life changing choice for the mare, so taking her time would be a necessity, one could half-heartedly understand, like the time he chose to start up a herd for the first time and so far it seemed to be going well, although he hadn’t returned back to Imperial Point to see if it actually was going well with Sabina and Cybil. For now, the stallion would remain peaceful and respectful of this beautiful mare, she did earn his respect after all.

It was silent for a few moments before he was interrupted by Thorin’s quiet words, Mairon was intrigued with him and wondered why he would hostile and quiet. Mairon had been here long enough now to know that no stallion is that quiet around here, they’re all putting on a fake personality which infuriates Mairon, leaving the mare with a false hope. Not long after the pale stallion had spoken and fallen quiet again, which was no surprise, he turned his gaze towards the other stallion; a bay. The bay stallion didn’t say anything interesting, except for randomly stating the fact he disliked Winter, following with a little scoff. Mairon offered the bay stallion a small smile. He seemed to peaceful and relaxed now, after having a bit of experience in the common grounds, he was a little of edge.

After the bay stallion had scoffed and chuckled around,Mairon assumed that it was Merida’s turn to talk. By her subtle actions, it appeared that she was thinking up something to say and know about the stallions, Mairon was dead honest and would blurt out anything she wanted to know. Before he could think anymore about himself or the others, Merida had spoken again, addressing Mairon himself and then whilst she spoke, eyed off the other stallions. By the sounds of it, the mare was unsure about what she was looking for in a home and a little confused as to why she was here. Mairon was in a pickle, trying to find words to say and that would be appropriate to say.

He offered a pleasant smile towards Merida before speaking since it had now been a few moments till anyone has spoken, “I’m sorry to hear that you’ve been deprived of respect and protection for so long.” The dappled stallion paused briefly, collecting himself before speaking again, “If you wanted to know, I live in Imperial Point, just located in The Offland, with two lovely mares. All the essentials and necessities are offered.” The stallion wasn’t sure if he was making a fool of himself, Mairon was lost for words since the mare herself didn’t even know what she wanted. But the stallion played it cool and just let the words slip off his tongue, hoping Merida wouldn’t mind that he had already introduced his home. Mairon shuffled his powerful frame to pass the time by.

i did not come here to tell you how this was going to end
With the ever present chill of autumn, Thorin was also anxious to keep things moving. He wasn’t as vocal as Mairon, but if the chestnut mare was to put a little faith in him, he could show her he was the better stallion. Not that the palomino dapple wasn’t a fine competitor, they had all behaved very well. The Gypsy Vanner hated stallions that didn’t play by the rules, or tried to make it into more than what it was. Yes it was a gamble, a bid for the mare, but it wasn’t the end of the world if Merida didn’t pick him. He was sure she would have valid reasons for whoever she decided on, from the brief conversation that had already flowed, Thorin guessed she had quite a bright head on those young shoulders.

She addressed Mairon’s question, not really giving any of them much to go by. Thorin was used to the mare in question having a set of prepared questions already, or at least some idea what she was going to talk about beforehand. If she didn’t know what she wanted from them, why was she here? Perhaps there was a reason why she couldn’t return to the safety of her native homeland. The alabaster male liked to think when he eventually got round to siring foals, he wasn’t going to kick them out once they were of age. Naturally, if they wanted to go they could, but it was a wide and difficult world out there for them, and Thorin would much rather they spent a year or two making clear, proper decisions. Still, he was jumping ahead of himself. He had only just claimed too mares, there was no need to get hasty.

His clear eyes turned to Mairon as the other stallion began to speak. He waited until the other male had finished talking, after all, it was only words. It wasn’t like Merida was going to be impressed by the ‘essentials’ of a land. Thorin would admit that Infernal Meadows was bleak, but it had character. It was a challenge, and more importantly, he didn’t intend to stay there after the coldest months of the year were gone. He thrived for more mountainous terrain, but trying to move in these conditions would be idiocy. When silence fell and the gauntlet was thrown to him he turned his blue gaze back to the red mare, sizing her up before he spoke. “I can offer you both of those things.” His voice was a shade louder than before.

“I also, have the necessities in Infernal Meadows. I also have two mares, both of which are very amiable and good tempered. However, I am not promising a life where you will fade into the monotonous cycle this planet holds. I admit, I am not happy with my current land. As soon as winter passes, I will be looking for a land much greater. I want only the best for myself and my herd.” He finished, his body still as he looked to her for a reaction. Perhaps a little melodramatic, but he had to make a final impression. His quietness in the first half of this match wasn’t going to win him any favours.

I didn't hear what you were saying.
I live on raw emotion baby
I answer questions never maybe
And I'm not kind if you betray me.

The Paso Fino had no knowledge about these encounters go, so she was relieved when the dappled stallion spoke up to initiate the next step. He went on to describe his homeland, which sounded quite lovely. She could easily see herself living in Imperial Point, then again at this point she saw herself living anywhere so long as she got along with the stallion. "Thank you Mairon, your home sounds lovely." Her tone was filled with excitement and the nervous edge finally started to die off. Kind eyes turned to view Thorin, assuming he would share a little about his land as well.

She felt comfortable around him, he was about the same height as her, and was mellow enough to make it easy to talk to him. He seemed to respect and know his mares well, and although he admitted to not being completely happy with his home he expressed how he was taking the necessary steps to changing this. She could admire that, it wasn't often that a stallion realizes what really is better for their herd, so this stuck out to the chestnut. Merida had become comfortable during this part of the conversation, though the next stage made her a little nervous. She had to choose, and let one of these stallions down. It was out of her comfort zone to leave someone unhappy, which was her biggest fear when she entered the homeless grounds to begin with.

Deciding silence would get her no where, and drawing it out wouldn't make the decision any easier, the mare took a breath before making her choice. "Thorin, I would like to join you in Infernal Meadows if you would have me." She offered a sheepish smile which started off directed at Thorin, before turning her attention towards Mairon. She offered a sincere nod, hoping she didn't upset him, before taking a step closer to the snowy white stallion awaiting his reaction.
