Pasqua cringed as she slowly made her way into the Foaling Quarry. She had been pregnant for quite a long while, and the weight and pain of the foal was enough for her. She could not take it any longer, and she could feel her body crying for her to give birth. She knew it would be today. She had foaled twice before, and was experienced; she could tell that this foal's birth was imminent. Even though the Thoroughbred mare had given birth before, the experience was still just as painful.

She kept wondering to herself if this had been the right choice. She wanted to free herself from Taurean, but to have a foal to do so? Pasqua constantly feared that she would not love this foal. That she would only see the child as a way out. She feared that she might abandon the foal, even if it didn't deserve it. Pasqua found herself constantly thinking about April and Thistle and Bezec. Surely this was a bad sign for the foal's future. And to her, Taurean was not exactly a good example. She kept worrying that this foal had no good future. The mare had been worrying for quite some time, now.

Pasqua winced when she felt waves of pain begin to sweep throughout her body. She was going further into labor. She hurriedly found a place by a rotting, leaf-coated, snow-speckled log that sat beside a slowly-trickling creek and took it. She knelt down before sliding down to her side on the cold grass that had hints of snow and frost on it. Pasqua closed her eyes, waiting for the labor to continue. For a moment, part of her actually wondered if Taurean would encourage her or comfort her during the pregnancy.

The only thing that Taurean would acknowledge of Pasqua was that he realized that childbirth a momentous thing. He had not yet been present in the birth of one of his children, but just because he was bearing witness to this birth didn't mean that he would go any easier on her. The buckskin was still undecided on whether or not to let the white mare raise the child once it was born. He didn't want this child to be reared with an innate hate of him. When, and if, Pasqua left, the child would stay with him. No matter the gender. He would have to ponder on the raising of the foal after it was born. Perhaps come to an agreement on it with Pasqua.

The buckskin followed the scent of the pregnant Thoroughbred closely. When he happened upon her, she was laying down on her side, obviously in labor. This scene altogether made Taurean sick, not with nerves but at the alien atmosphere. It was so different and made him pin his ears. The Walker-Arabian took a step into the area near the white mare; a nicker parted his dark-colored lips, and his muzzle gently touches her swollen barrel. He wanted her to know that he appreciated the labor she was going through. It was his duty as a stallion to encourage her through it. Not necessarily will her through it with emotion and promises of love and happy endings. He appreciated her labor and the child she was giving birth to. But he knew that this foal was only in existence because he forced it upon her. Taurean was here to make sure she didn't run off with the foal or leave it here to die. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Pasqua flinched and snorted angrily when he touched her barrel. She lifted up her head to glance over at him, and then flopped it back down onto the ground. She would be giving birth before long; she felt like she had experienced most of the labor earlier. She could feel the foal squirming inside her, and it made her wince with pain.

She began to fall into a light-headed headache that readily consumed her. Her muscles were tense and her forehead dappled with sweat. She closed her eyes again and whinnied in pain. Birthing a foal was never easy. And this foal felt much larger than any of her previous foals.

Before she knew it, she found herself pushing as hard as she could, her face twisted into an excruciating wince. Her legs swept across the ground periodically as she struggled to continue trying to control the pain. Anything that Taurean might have said in those few minutes went through one ear and right out the other; Pasqua could hardly hear herself think.

At last she delivered the final push. She felt the foal slip out, and she laid there motionless for a moment before arching herself up hurriedly, for fear that Taurean might do something to the foal. She was still light-headed, and she could hardly keep her balance as she laid there. She nuzzled the foal and began cleaning it. It was then that she noticed what gender the foal was. It was a filly. Pasqua's lip twitched in debilitating disappointment, and she looked up at Taurean, now flame in her eyes. "A girl." Pasqua said quietly and firmly. The look in her eyes told the stallion that he was not to harm the filly. At all.

(ooc: I'm sorry about the delayed reply and sudden birth. I just really wanted Aphelion to be born xD)

Taurean understood her flinching; he hadn't actually touched her since the day they had conceived this child. But for her to snort angrily at him, that made the buckskin pin his ears. If she didn't want the comfort he was trying to offer, fine. So the golden buckskin stood quietly, watching as this mare struggled to bring his child into the world.

Once the foal was born, Taurean took a step closer to the new foal, head low to see clearly. He was curious, though he had two other children, this was the first time he had actually seen the birth. The white mare hurried herself upright, and Taurean lifted his head slighly, ears slightly pinned. He watched curiously as Pasqua cleaned the foal; he could almost remember his own mother's tongue washing over his young limbs. Then, the white mare declared their child to be a girl, and while Taurean only vaguely disappointed, he could almost see the sadness wash over her face. The look she gave him made Taurean angry, and his words were short, only verbally displaying his displeasure.

"I'm not going to hurt her, Pasqua. I don't maim foals, especially if they are my own.." the golden buckskin stallion paused, brown eyes going to the filly, his dark lips almost genuinely smiling, eyes beheld the girl in wonder, "I adore them.." Slowly, the buckskin stallion inched his maw toward the filly, knowing the white mare would never really let him touch her. He only sought to imprint himself into the young filly's memory, have her remember that he was her father should Pasqua take her from him. Snapping almost all the way out of his wonderment, Taurean turned his head to Pasqua, his vocals were level, not acidic or sarcastic, revealing himself to be an affectionate father. "I want her to stay with me. I can offer you a sort of relief, Pasqua, but I have stipulations." The gears in his mind worked as he waited for a reply from the mare, his eyes on the beautiful filly that lay before him.

Pasqua listened to Taurean's words, relieved to hear that he would not hurt the filly. Though Pasqua would still keep a close eye on her daughter. She did not trust Taurean. His next words surprised her. Stipulations? What was he meaning? A flicker of hope crossed her eyes. Would he let her go? Then Pasqua wondered about the filly that was laying next to her. Would she be safe if Pasqua left? The mare could see the adoration and love in the stallion's eyes over their daughter. Maybe he really would not hurt the filly. But what about her education on how to live? Pasqua shivered at the thought of her daughter adopting bad habits from the Dark.

The mare snapped out of her train of thought. Thinking about possibilities and endless conflicts was not going to get anyone anywhere. She looked down at the filly and then up at Taurean. "What kind of stipulations?" She asked, her ears swiveling forward to catch his answer clearly. She opened her mouth to ask another question, but closed it abruptly. She did not want to irritate him, for he might withdraw these "stipulations" he had in mind.

(ooc: I so sorry about the wait! D:)

The golden buckskin was aware of the caution which riddled the pale mare's words. It was a good that she was wary; she feared him. His maw briefly touched the wet hide of the filly, and a smile lifted the corners of his lips. His dark eyes move to the white mare's face, lips returning to an indifferent appearance. "Tend to her, then I will explain." The stallion waited for the mare to begin before he spoke. His dark ears pricked forward, and his lips parted. "I will allow you to leave First Counts Shoal with a few conditions." He paused for a few moments to allow effect; he was mostly positive that Pasqua would return to him. He was not asking much. "Once our daughter is weaned, you may leave and go wherever you wish. However, I will require you to return within the next year, Pasqua."

The buckskin pondered for a moment, thinking about what the pale mare would do should she find her Rogue lover. "You will not be allowed to conceive another foal with another stallion, whether you love him or not. If I so much as smell a different newborn on your skin, I will hunt it down and remove it from this earth. It will be a break in our contract, and you will only be forced to confine yourself to First Counts and produce another child." Taurean paused again, allowing the thought of a murdered child between herself and her lover to fester in her mind. He hoped it would give her nightmares and make her think twice about crossing him. "That being said, you will return to First Counts and remain there while you are pregnant, and you will continue to reside there until the child is born and weaned. Then you will be free to go, and I may make up any story I like for your absence in the lives of our children." His dark lips pursed forward as he lipped the filly's mane and cheek, his loving demeanor quite the bright contrast to his menacing words. The golden buckskin's starred face turned to the gray mare, dark eyes piercing her own in a deadly manner. "Understood?"

Pasqua listened as she cleaned off the filly. At the mention of him actually letting her leave First Counts Shoal, she snapped her head up in hopeful shock before looking down at the filly and continuing cleaning her. She would have to return until she gave him a son. Again, that fear of bringing these foals only into existence so that she could escape came to mind. She would hate for the foals to learn what they had been brought into the world for - to be used like that. What about this filly's future? She could not be heir to Taurean's land. What would the future hold for her?

Taurean continued to spoke, and what he said about murdering any child Pasqua gave birth to that was not his made a sickening feel grasp her. Pasqua squeezed her eyes shut and let out a shaky snort, her ears flattening. She had no idea when she would bear him a son. It could be next time she was pregnant, or it could be a few years out from now, or even never. No, not never. The thought of a child with Bezec's blood in it being murdered almost made Pasqua cry. She would make sure to not conceive any other foal until the contract was finished.

Pasqua stopped cleaning the filly when Taurean gave her kisses. Her ears flattened even further, but she was also guilty for having brought this filly into the world only to produce an heir. This filly was a failed heir and a failed key to Pasqua's escape. For a moment, Pasqua wondered if it would be better if she made sure she raised this filly all the way to her adulthood to become a young, spirited mare. But that would mean staying away from her family for three years. Pasqua did not know if she could handle that.

The Thoroughbred mare looked back up at Taurean and nodded her head. She was too filled with the image of a murdered foal before her to thank him. How could she thank him? What he had said was beyond sickening, and she had to restrain herself from lunging at him with bared teeth. Her weakness from giving birth was one of the few things keeping her from doing so. Turning back to the filly, Pasqua asked quietly, her voice hardly more than a whisper, "What should her name be?"
