WELL SWEET MOTHER TERESA ON THE HOOD OF A MERCEDES BENZ

BLACK EYES NOSE BLEEDS
don't look back now.
It was a common phrase to ‘quit whilst you’re ahead.’ It was a sensible suggestion. Currently, no one opposed him. He had stallions lining up to ally with him, he had just claimed another pretty little mare and with the new breeding season ahead, things were looking good. He had even managed to settle things with Martyr. The blue roan overo had been stupid for what he had done, but by keeping things sweet between them, Ares could ensure another pair of eyes. He had few enemies, but intended to kick them whilst they were down. Having seen two mares leave Nomad’s Baron recently, the Lipizzaner was curious to see why the others had not been snatched up. He had never liked Cian, and the cremello associated with all the wrong stallions. It would be priceless for his half-brother to return home, if he ever did, to find all his mares gone. The grey chuckled at the thought.

As far as he could work out, Cian had four mares remaining, as two had already gone. One of the four he could not see just be patrolling around the borders of Nomad’s Baron, and her scent was very faint. So, Ares had decided to try and take the three remaining mares, as well as any foals under the age of three they might have. He only intended to keep one of the mares for himself – the other two would be sent to Orion, or another ally of his. Ares figured it would be harder for Cian to battle several stallions to try and get his herd back. The Lipizzaner wasn’t particularly bothered about any foals the mares might have. The colts could be useful to him, providing he put them under control. Fillies could be sent to allies, or just left to their own devices. Children of Cian were useless compared to his own young.

He strode into the battle grounds. Under normal circumstances he would have sent Orion or one of his sons to do this, but neither Blitzkrieg or Saleos were old enough; and his nephew was still recovering from his previous battle injuries. Ares had never had to fight before, but he was banking on the cremello failing to show up. It was cowardly yes, but he wasn’t going to make things hard for himself. Another stallion had clearly taken two of his mares, because those were the ones Ares had his eyes on. Still, it was no skin off his nose. He had eight mares of his own, but hoped to add these to his swelling herd.

Deciding on a spot close to the border of the land, he called out in his deep tones. “I challenge Cian of Nomad’s Baron for three of his mares – Sahada, Cresent and Gidget. I also demand any foals these mares have that are underage come with them.” He curled his ebony lips in a smile, resting a hindleg as he waited for his opponent to arrive.

As Cian / ` savvy hasn't replied, Ares / devotchka wins by default.
