Spring was her favorite season. It always had been, even when she was a tiny filly. It
was the first season that she could remember experiencing in Bitter Lullen and was the
one she most looked forward to every year. There was just something about watching
flowers bloom and babies being born that warmed her heart and refreshed her spirit.

Sighing happily, the newly turned three year old took her time entering the famed land
of homeless mares, trying to work herself free of her jitters and preconceptions. Her dam
had warned her multiple times that it was not likely that she would find mister right
immediately and that she would need to have a little patience, but that was easier said
than done for Papillon. She wanted to find a stallion that was like her father - strong and
dependable - but not as power hungry. The girl's mother didn't like to talk about it, but
everyone living in Bitter Lullen knew the story of Gethin and his dam. But beyond these
simple expectations, Papi harbored a secret hop in her heart that she would be able to
find the kind of love her parents shared.

In a clearing where the grass already brushed the backs of her knees, the young mare
finally allowed herself to draw to a halt. Prime's light was bright on her pale back, and
warm where dark gathered at her forehead, chest, and tailhead. Deep blue, cerulean
eyes scan the land hopefully, but upon seeing no other creatures fall back to the
flowering grasses below. Working a tentative smile onto her lips she looks back at the
edges of the land and tries speaking instead. "Hello? Is anyone there?"

And when no answer is immediate, she falls quiet, accepting that she'll simply have to
wait for someone to approach.

WELL SWEET MOTHER TERESA ON THE HOOD OF A MERCEDES BENZ

- - i used to roll the dice

He had tried one more time, but with no avail. His first mare Luna was nowhere to be found. He had returned to his previous home, which was now owned by his son, but he had not seen the grey. Roux had looked everywhere, but she had vanished. It upset him greatly, she had been his claim ever since he was a three year old, but there was nothing that could be done about it. Still, there was nothing to be said about living in the past. He had to be thankful. He had a wonderful family, and he was able to live in the place he cherished most. Everyone had seemed to settle down well, his mother was ecstatic and he had acquired a new mare – the young chestnut who had stumbled into his home. He hoped she would settle in well, and had asked his lead to keep an eye on the newcomer until she became properly acquainted.

His trip outside the Loftlands had been a multi-purpose one. Katani had left for the foaling quarry, and Roux had not doggedly followed her, but continued at a leisurely distance, making sure her scent was heading towards the quarry. It wasn’t a trust issue, more making sure she got there safely without any problems. The dapple grey foaled alone, this was their fourth child together, and she had seemed happy and relaxed when she left. He loved that about the thoroughbred, she was a wonderful mother and extremely wise when it came to foals. The Arabian had then detoured off to Border Springs to check in on one of his sisters. Although he had four sisters in total, he only knew the exact whereabouts of one of them, which saddened him. However, Farrah had a beautiful little filly, and he had invited them to Barrow Canal whenever it suited the grulla mare. He discovered she had spent some time with their sibling Avril, but wasn’t sure where the bay was now. Roux smiled at the thought, his sister was always the rebel. He just wished he knew where Pippa and Enya were; he had been closest with them.

Claiming Illiana had given him a new lease of optimism. He already had four very lovely mares, but where was the harm of having a couple more? His highest priority, if new mares did join the herd, was to ensure Katani, Narnia and Azalea were completely comfortable with the changes. He didn’t want a large herd either. Perhaps only one or two more mares, and with the herd foals, his parents, his brother and Caspian living with them; they would be a good sized herd. He knew he wasn’t the youngest or strongest stallion out there, but if a mare simply wanted a quiet, family life – he was the one.

Spring was much warmer on sea level. He had missed the fresh, thin, mountain air Barrow Canal offered, but it was nice to feel the warmer seasons heat up down on the other continents too. He found his footing on the homeless beach easily, pulling his finely chiselled body from the waves and onto the sand. The urge to roll was strong, but the bright bay resisted. A dirty, sandy body is no good first impression for a potential companion. Instead the stallion shook himself partially dry, small fleck of sea-spray covering the sand beneath him. He started forwards at a walk, allowing the sun to dry his coat as he moved into more woodland surroundings, until his belly and lower legs were the same colour as the rest of his hide again.

A feminine voice called out a little way away, not loudly, and it was like she was talking to someone already. Intrigued, his tulip shaped ears turned in the direction of the mare, inhaling her sweet scent before slipping through the trees to a clearing. This part of the island looked almost unused, as the grass grew tall, and he was tempted by its lush roots. Glancing up Roux spotted the tovero as she stood towards the centre. She was certainly very pretty, and she had a fresh, innocent quality to her that drew him in. Whickering softly as not to disturb her Roux started forwards, a small smile finding it’s way onto charcoal lips before stopping in front of her. “Hello. I heard your voice a little way away and came to investigate. My name is Roux, may I have the pleasure of knowing yours?”

Ain't got no cash, ain't got no style
Ain't got not girl to make you smile
But don't worry be happy
Cause when you worry
Your face will frown
And that will bring everybody down
So don't worry, be happy

The fifteen hand stallion entered the homeless territory. He hadn’t been here in a while but it was nice to come and visit from time to time. He really wasn’t that familiar with the place. The last time he had claimed a mare was a mare he met in the gathering. He had never been able to claim a mare from the homeless. He wasn’t really sure if it was just bad luck or maybe he wasn’t the type of stallion those mares were looking for. Maybe at first he didn’t really look like the stallion who would safe everyone but he maybe could if he was given a chance. His white mane and tail flickered while he walked forth. The palomino and white paint stallion looked around to see if he found any mares that looked like they would be interesting to talk to.

While he walked around the place he thought of Glimmer. Also his mare Dasha who was waiting for him to come back home in Glimmer. The stallion had recently claimed the territory and shortly after he had met Dasha. They seemed to get along pretty well and Devar was happy that he had met her. Sooner or later they would be expecting a foal. The stallion really liked the idea of having a little foal running around but he was also aware of the responsibility that came with it.

The stallion twisted his ears when he heard a female voice. Of course there were equines chatting everywhere around but this came a bit away from the crowd. The stallion looks around and he noticed a mare standing by herself. She seemed to be really nice and Devar though about approaching her. It couldn’t really hurt to go over to talk to her. But as he is heading towards her a stallion comes in view and walks up to the mare. For a moment Devar hesitates but he decides not to let another stallion stop him. This would happen to him often if not always. The other stallion seemed to hear the mare as well. He listened to him introduce himself and he addressed himself as Roux. Devar nodded to the mare and the stallion as in politeness. “Hello” he said and paused a bit. “My name is Devar and I come from Glimmer”. He said. The other stallion had already asked if she wanted to tell her name so the palomino and white paint stallion was not going to ask the same question but he just gave it a hint that he wanted to know.

Its love that makes the world go round.
Relic wandered into the homeless once again, he had been here perviously a short while ago on a mission to make his herd a few mares stronger. The blood bay stallion was still relatively new to the art of mare fishing but he genuinely enjoyed speaking to them so the homeless was just as much a place for socialization for him as it was a duty to both make sure his mares had just the right amount of company, and making sure he had the right mares to fill his herd. Relic smiled to himself as he surveyed the mares that had made their way here for breeding season. Chimaera had expressed intrest in having a foal and Relic was delighted to oblige but he felt it necessary that he find a few mares and settle down before bringing foals into his home. Relic held a fondness for Chimaera, because she was after all his first mare, but she is very beautiful and Relic felt blessed that she accepted his invitation to come home with him. Warm brown eyes surveyed the mares more closely this time and this time his gaze locked on a mare who looked to be about his own age, she was standing off in a more secluded spot of the homeless where no other mares where currently located. She was black and white though the white was the dominant color and very very beautiful. Relic smiled and made his way over to the mare, when he arrived a older palomino paint horse had the same idea about approaching the pretty maiden.

Relic stood about 2 or 3 inches taller than the stallion who had arrived shortly before him. Relic smiled at the painted maiden after quickly acknowledging the yellow stallion. "Hello Miss, I am Relic and I own the Kherulian Fief in the Offland." Relic's brown eyes were filled with a not so subtle curiosity for this young mare. "I am sure Devar has already asked but what is your name, miss?" Relic repeated the question to be polite and as not to assume anything. Relic was built more like his thoroughbred mother with the classic build of a thoroughbred but a bit more muscular, his mane and tail were both an inky black and silky smooth and long. Relic had inherited his blood bay coloring from his sire and his granddam, though not overly muscular Relic would fight for his mares till he died if need be and thats what really mattered most. Relic came back to the present and waited for the mare to introduce her self.
