The Vanner stallion looked quietly over the view of the seaside cliffs. His eyes thoroughly looked over the many jutting rocks and rough edges of the waves as they crashed upon the stone. It had been too long since his herd had gathered, and such absence of a leader did not bode well for the horses involved with him. What kind of future or example was he setting for his children? His white mass of feathering cascaded and billowed around his pale hooves as a hard breeze blew, almost seeming to try and pull the stallion to a painful death. Yet the Vanner stood fast, not ready for an end to his tale quite yet. The powerful stallion raised his white muzzle into the air and released a call for his mares and children. He had hoped that they would forgive him for the quiet that had plagued their home.

We have nothing to fear but human stupidity and the squirrels.
The painted Andalusian hybrid was enjoying the quiet of the day in the company of her two year old daughter. Her nearly three year old son was off somewhere. He had disappeared some time ago. She could only hope and pray he would be fine. She hated to see her children leave her. Four of her children had gone or died and she hated it. It made her heart sick. She would hang on to her youngest child as long as she could. She knew that her elder daughter was on the same continent with a nice stallion. Deep down she knew she would never see her eldest son. He was gone like his father. All this heart ache was not helping the mare. She was allowing depression to take over. She wasn't eating as well as she should be. She watched as Brooklyn grazed but she herself wasn't interested. Her ribs were starting to show through. Her coat wasn't as pristine as it once was. Her once silky healthy mane was tangled and dirty. Yes she was a shadow of the strong mare she once was. The love of Shieryon should have been enough. She was still young enough to produce more foals. But she just couldn't stand the heart ache of losing them.

Staring off into space she hears a masculine call upon the land. She nickers to her daughter and together the set off towards the call. She was after all the lead mare and needed to make an appearance. Though she didn't think she was a good leader. Most of the time she was alone with her children. She spies the handsome Gypsy stallion and Brooklyn runs ahead. She stops before her father and nuzzles his shoulder. "Hi Dad. How are you?" Her young voice is happy and vibrant. Willow settles in behind her daughter and smiles at Shieryon. She wonders what he'll say about her current state of health. "Hello Shieryon. Its good to see you. I wish I knew where Antares has gotten off to. I hope he is doing well." She shifts her legs and hopes for the others to show soon.
