- Moxie & Rhona
- Iria & Iscaie
- Ajax?

It had been a successful season, as far as Elijah was concerned. Things had gone well in homeless, and there were the two mares due to return at any time with his first children. In an absent kind of way he hoped for a son, but wouldn't be too upset if they were fillies. Daughters grew into mothers and were the chief way that a real legacy was passed on, as evidenced by Katina, whos strong personality had influenced him from birth, even though he did not remain close to her.

Down along the coat of his island home it was hard to tell that the rest of the planet had transitioned into autumn, protected as the Shoals were by the mountains and distant reef. Warm water pooled about his ankles as the steel gray stallion crossed the channel separating the islands, taking advantage of low tide to avoid the normally knee-high water. Sand crabs scuttled away from his easy stride, and the beach grass of the shoreline followed suit. Sand clung to the feathers on his lower limbs and a large patch on his side from a rather indulgent roll upon his return home. Now all there was to do was to wait for his new arrivals to return to the land.

A nicker is sent out over the land as a precaution against any early arrivals who might be waiting for him, and he settles near the fitful shade of a palm tree, letting the leafy shadow add to the subtle dappling on his body. He may never amass the kind of numbers that Thane and Chronic and Viral enjoyed, but if this was the life he would carve out for himself and establish, he was good with that.

For now.

IRIA++iscaie

Iria has finally decided to make the journey to Eli's home. Iscaie is strong enough, her small body rising to challenges easily--she's as athletic as her mother, and it makes Iria proud. But mostly, the roan had been putting this off simply because of what she plans on telling Eli. How, exactly, while presenting a daughter to a stallion, does one find the courage (and not to mention, polite way) to inform a stallion that you're.....just not that into him.

Iria's pretty face contorts into a mask of displeasure. Iscaie is silent behind her, solemn little face exhausted, pretty blue eyes fighting sleep. It's quiet, on the beach they are currently settled on. Summer, it seems, hasn't left Diamond Shoals. There is little to no evidence of the changing season, and Iria' can't help but appreciate that. As her daughter slips into a fitful sleep, Iria takes the opportunity to relax, and allow her mind to wander. But as she does, a call echoes across the territory; it's clearly Eli's voice, and it's coming from an island across the way.

The loud voices startles Iscaie awake, and Iria touches her forelock softly, comforting the newborn filly. With an unhappy snort, and her ears tipping back, Iria begins to move in the direction that Eli's voice came from. The pair of females easily crosses the low water separating two islands, and then stop, across from Eli. He is situated under a palm tree, in the meager shade. Iria offers an awkward smile, and then speaks quietly.

"Um, hello Elijah. This is...this is Iscaie. Your daughter. Do you...do you think we could talk?"

We have nothing to fear but human stupidity and the squirrels.
It had been a long journey it seemed. The young mare was hesitant about coming here. She had thought about turning around and running home to her father's land. But that would just make things worse. Her father would probably be disappointed in her and she scould not stand doing that. Her father's approval was everything to her. She would wait for her daughter to grow before taking her to the Sound to visit her grandfather. Sighing she was now committed to be a member of Elijah's herd. A young stallion she knew almost nothing about. She did not know his lineage. She did not know his habits, how he treated his mares. All of that. If only her silly hormones hadn't gotten in the way. But this would be the moment of truth. She didn't even know the stallion's alliance. It was hard to tell with how charming he had been.

Sighing she looks back to make sure the black filly was following her. The filly was looking all around at the wonders around her. They had swam carefully through the warm waters. Arriving on the beach the mare shakes her body to get rid of the salty water. She looks around taking in the scenery and wondering where the greying stallion was. The warmth of the land surprised her. Even Grimoire Sound got cold in the winter time. But unlike here there were no trees to shield the inhabitants from the cold. She used to wonder why her grandfather had chosen that land to live in. True it was pretty next to the ocean. But there were no trees and very ltitle water. Tehy had to invade another territory to find water. But yet her father was so adament about protecting the place from her mysterious uncle she had heard so much about.

Her thoughts are interrupted by a nicker echoing through the trees. The palomino paint looks at her daughter and then they set off towards the sound hoping they are going in the right direction. A masculine scent points her in the right direction. Before reaching the stallion she noticed another mare and foal pair approaching him. Seems she wasn't the only one he had an encounter with this season. She wondered how many more he had. She reaches the trio just as soon as the mare had finished speaking. She eyes the other mare. She appears young like herself. The filly at her side is lovely she concludes. Her own daughter eyeing the other filly. Facing Elijah she smiles weakly not sure what to say. "Hello again Elijah. It seems its been awhile. This is your daughter Rhona." She gently nudges the filly forward to face her sire. Rhona looks back at her mother then to the stallion. Not sure of what to say or do. Moxie waits for someone to say something.

Ajax was fully enjoying this new haven his brother had provided. Not only grateful that he didn’t have to leave his sibling’s side, it also saved him from a fate of land-snatching; a practise that weaker stallions tended to do. They targeted lands that seemed empty, only to find the resident stallion ready to fight, usually for a territory he had lived in for several years. As the chestnut couldn’t bring down a cold let alone another being, this suited him just fine. As the Shoals provided all sorts of exciting games for Ajax, from the pools down by the beachside to the brilliant views the higher areas of the shoals provided, there was no doubt in that he was tired. He had chosen his sleeping spot well, covered in shade by a leafy palm, the distant lull of the waves down on the tideline drawing him into a comfortable sleep. Unlike most adult equines he rested laying down, all four feet stretched out like a foal, his faded red belly rising slowly as he gave the occasional twitch in his dream.

It was a miracle he heard Elijah’s nicker, for the red stallion slept soundly most of the time. His ears pricked, and he raised his ridiculously marked face up, before rocking onto his front and pushing up with all four feet until he was standing in a somewhat comical way. Some rogue particles of sand clung to his coat, and he shook them away vigorously. Locating where he though his grey brother would be, the chestnut set off at an enthusiastic canter, weaving his way through the trees at pace. From a distance, with his head markings and coat colour, he could be mistaken for his sire, but his lack of blue eyes, the faded line that crossed his entire body and his lack of power drive set the two starkly apart. In good spirits Ajax kicked out in a playful buck, his gait light and almost skipping. He slowed as he set eyes on his twin, and to his surprise, he wasn’t alone.

Two mother and foal sets lingered around the stallion; both the mares looked very young. With delight in being an uncle, he lays eyes on the fillies, one ebony and the other a pretty roan. He nuckers to the group, making his way forwards to Elijah’s side. He also leans over to give his brother a playful nudge, then remembered how Elijah had treated him back when they bade farewell to Katina, and he stood still, like the mares, waiting for Elijah to announce why he had called them all up here.
