We have nothing to fear but human stupidity and the squirrels.
I just received Adobe Photoshop Elements 8.0 for this computer. I am trying my best to learn how to use it. I would like to make manips one of these days. I was wondering if any of you know a good site that has tutorials that are fairly simple to understand. Or any other advice you may have. Thank you.

I am slowly learning about this stuff. This is my third attempt at photo manipulation.

Third Manip

I think I am getting better. My first two attempts are on there as well.

Heya. =]

I know you were asking for some pointers earlier, so I thought I'd pop in here and mention a few things I saw. First of all, you're doing a lot better at cutting him out.

Some things to improve on:
- You can play with the Hue & Saturation dialog box to get that overly saturated, a little on the dark side feeling of the background
- Keep in mind how big your subject is to the background - you can do things out of porportion on purpose if you want of course, but its something to keep in mind
- And lastly, everything has a shadow! =] One of the easiest ways to create one there is to add a new layer beneath the dog, take a brush with the color black, soft round fuzzy and at a low opacity (maybe 10-15%) and kind of block in the dogs shadow. As you get more advanced and comfortable with the program, you can work on adding definition (see how the tree just below the dog's tail has a really sharp shadow?) and more detail.

And my last piece of advice, and what I try to do, is when I'm trying to figure out how to do something, I focus on one thing at a time. And then I look up a tutorial or two on that particular skill and go from there. Typically, the most popular tutorials on DA are popular for a reason. =]
