With his head up and nostrils flared wide, Derecho raced through the battle grounds, exhilarated. It was clear he hadn’t battled yet; he wasn’t dripping blood, sweat or defeat, and he moved without pain. He fully expected that his condition would do a one-eighty degree turn in less than an hour, but he was more than ready for it. Whilst all he wanted was the land initially, Ascian’s poor attitude led him to crave domination as well. The breeze had picked up a considerable amount, which made finding the pinto’s scent difficult, but Derecho wasn’t too worried. A sneak attack was, in his opinion, as low as attacking one’s own mother. Derecho couldn’t imagine how he’d feel after he attacked his own mother, and it didn’t cross his mind that others might not have the respect he did for his dam. Still, the thought humbled him, and he slowed his brisk canter to a cautious walk, peering around for his opponent. He flared his nostrils, seeking out the other’s scent, before giving up and walking to the edge of a forest, where he halted under a tree. He tried to relax, but he was too tense and aroused; he wanted to use all of his young energy, not waste it waiting under a tree. Derecho let out a frustrated snort, letting his thoughts stray to Meridian. The striking bay mare was no doubt the most patient equine he’d ever met – and easily one of the most attractive. He let thoughts of her settle him, and was able to look around more calmly for Ascian. “You coward!” He shouted into the wind, shifting his rear end into the trees to avoid being leapt upon from behind. “It’s rude to keep people waiting, pretty boy,” he roared again, even though he could see no sign of the spotted stallion. Shouting brought his mettle back up, and the black stallion quickly resumed his fidgeting. He pawed at the ground, lashed his tail and chucked his head in the air, unable to keep still. However, he knew better than to leave his little protected space, and so forced himself to endure many impatient moments waiting for the other to arrive. yeah, yeah, I fight too much xD Apologies in advance |

Ascian had never felt so much anger swell up inside of his body, nostrils flared wide open, his eyes sharpened, and ready for anything. Though, Ascian seemed to be in his prime, fit and ready to fight. He was anxious what was to come for him, he hadn’t been to the battle grounds before and he wasn’t sure what to expect. He would either lose or win, if he loses, he loses his land. Cringing at the thought, he strongly raced into the battle grounds. Immeadiantly, he could smell blood, sweat and tears. It reeked of it. This made him determined the dark stallion who he had not caught the name of. The breeze picked up quite a bit, Ascian threw his head up in the air, he slowed his gait down to a cautious but up beat walk. His tough neck would sway side to side, looking for the stallion, licking his lips with a slight grim on his expression. Every muscle in his body flexed, rippling. To the point where you would see some of his veins. He was roaring with adrenaline and determination. No signs of broken bones, scars or wounds on his body, he was untouched up until now. Just then in that moment, he heard for a split second, the roaring voice of the dark stallion. Ascian snorted loudly in the direction his voice came from. His two toned ears flattened right back into his mane as he neared the stallion’s direction. He could see him in the near distance. His gaze was fixed on the stallion, he could see that he was very fidgety and pouring the ground. Ascian came to a slow halt, about two metres away from the stallion. He could hear him breathing heavily, Ascian pursed his lips tightly together. “Show me what you’ve got!” his voice was husky, but threatening. Ascian waited to take a hit from him, possibly injuring him. |

Before long, the spotted stallion approached Derecho, probably after hearing the latter’s shouting. For a moment, the two glorious stallions faced each other, and the anticipation of what was to come made the air between them as heavy as lead. Then Ascian spoke. Immediately, Derecho bared his teeth, mouth gaping in a threat to bite. If he had have been the one approaching, he would have leapt straight into it, not stood around talking. Very well, he thought, I’ll be the one with the guts to start this. “As you wish,” he snarled, before gathering his haunches and leaping towards the stallion. (Attack #1) At first, Derecho appeared to be leaping for Ascian’s left side, flying towards his shoulder. However, at the last moment, he feinted, dodging to the left with the agility of a cutting horse to aim a blow to Ascian’s off side. Hoping that Ascian hadn’t expected him to dodge and thus wasn’t expecting it, the black stallion lifted his forelegs and plunged his hooves towards Ascian’s flanks, envisioning skin splitting and innards being strewn across the ground. He knew, realistically, this was unlikely, but he also knew that in between an equine’s ribs and hips was an unprotected area of flesh that hurt when it was damaged. Derecho aimed to slam his hooves into this sensitive area, intending to cause internal damage, or at the very least force the other to stagger sideways, disabling his haunches and leaving him free to be attacked again. However, he was relying on the fact that Ascian was unprepared to be attacked on his right-hand side, so Derecho had to quickly jump backwards once his forelegs were again on the ground, lest Ascian was able to shift his weight and lash out with a powerful hind leg. In a flash, Derecho was out of the range of the skewbald’s hind legs – assuming the latter hadn’t moved forward – but Derecho loathed walking backwards anymore, so held his ground with a grumpy squeal. He stood with his haunches tucked, ready to jump into a rear should he need to defend his head or neck from the pinto. He didn’t know the other, and so didn’t know his style, which was a bit of a twist for the black, who’d only ever fought those he knew well in the past. In fact, they had all been more like play fights than this savagery, but rather than being daunted, the black was excited. Edited by Taboo, Jan 8 2012, 07:46 PM.

Ascian braced his body for what would come for him; he knew that the dark stallion would be tough on him. He knew that his attack would be tough and probably induced with pain, pain is what everyone aims for in a battle. His ears flicked up for a tad as he spoke, his snarled tone made him even keener to get this started. Ascian shook his head towards him and snorted, pouring at the ground. Ascian was probably in a bad position really, he was out in the open. Defence #1 As Ascian saw the stallion leaping off into his direction, he would normally charge right back at them and take a bit of flesh off, but by his wrong choice of mind, he remained at a halt waiting for the stallion to attack. Ascian saw that the stallion was trying to aim for him shoulder as just as Ascian was trying to get a grip of the stallion’s skin, he was too quick to move. Not long after that before Ascian could do anything, the blackened hooves of the stallion slammed into his offside. Ascian immeadiantly tumbled towards the right of his side, but didn’t fall to the ground as the other stallion might have been intending. Ascian was unexpectedly surprised that the stallion lashed out one more time before retreating behind Ascian. Ascian half-heartedly was almost on the ground in pain, but he tried to ignore it, knowing that he can power through this. His left flank was a wounded, but not tremendously as the attack probably intended. Ascian picked himself up and grunted. Feeling the blood drip out, but not too much. Attack #1 Ascian turned around and stalled for a moment before he powerfully thundered towards the stallion faltering a little due to his left flank being sore, but full of rage and teeth bearing towards him though he didn’t have his neck extended out just in case the stallion would reach out and grab a hold of him. Ascian kept his head low to the ground for his next attack. Still at a powerful gallop towards him, Ascian made sure there was enough room between him and the stallion so he couldn’t really lash out. Nearing onto his right side with his neck lowered, he tried to slip his head between his front legs for a split secod, trying to nip the chest of the stallion. Hoping that he would wound the stallion or maybe even just a bit of hair loss wouldn't hurt. Ascian thought he could taste a bit of blood in his mouth but the other stallion could have defended his attack, but Ascian intention was to draw a bit of blood. In a split second after that, he spun around on his hind legs, and raised his painted body as he was on the side of the stallion, thundering down on his back, hoping that there was enough force to take the stallion down. Back injuries are painful and can restrain movement, as Ascian was hoping he would do that. Ascian felt like he was done here for the moment and galloped off with a little a falter not far from where he had attacked. Bracing his neck towards his chest, teeth were still baring, in his defence. Edited by SUKi, Jan 9 2012, 07:42 PM.

Snorting with each breath, the black stallion danced out of the way of the pinto, not wanting to invite any attacks. He was satisfied to see blood drip from Ascian’s hindquarters, but knew he could have done better. Derecho pinned his ears, fiercely determined to cause more damage on his next attack. In this time, the pinto had gathered himself up and prepared to attack, making Derecho realise how stupid it was of him to waste time examining the other’s injuries. With a squeal, Derecho rose on his hind legs to meet Ascian, who did something rather unexpected; the pinto ducked his head and went in under the black’s powerful chest. Derecho grunted in pain as he felt Ascian’s teeth pierce the thin skin on his chest. Derecho pulled back, dropping his forelegs to the ground and preparing to defend himself. Luckily, though the wound dripped blood, it didn’t hinder his movement or cause more than a stinging pain. Pinning his ears, Derecho gave a shout of laughter, expressing his savage joy at the ineffective attack. A moment later, however, he was silenced as the other did something unexpected – a doube attack! Derecho had been completely unprepared for the second blow, as it was unlike the structure other battles he’d had. He was forced to his knees by the weight of the other stallion on his back, which both grazed his knees and hurt his back; he felt something give under Ascian’s hooves, and it didn’t feel good. He wasn’t sure if the muscles in his back were strained or not – only upon healing could he judge how severe muscle injuries were – but he had no doubt he’d be bruised and sore for some time. As the pinto whirled to run away, Derecho gave an incensed whinny and plunged to his feet, staggering slightly as his sore knees faltered under the force for a moment. He chased the other, his powerful hind legs propelling his body forwards. The adrenalin and anger pumping through his blood numbed the pain he felt in his back, but made the blood pour more quickly out of the wounds in his chest and knees. (Attack #2) Being quick on his feet had always had its advantages, and as Ascian faltered slightly in his run, Derecho was able to catch up to him. He then leapt at the pinto, momentum of his run behind him and anger seeping from every pore in his body. With teeth and hooves outstretched, Derecho aimed this time for Ascian’s forehand, hoping to grab the other’s withers between his teeth whilst simultaneously pushing him over with a hoof to the shoulder. His mouth champed, hoping to mutilate the other’s withers. His hooves did not aim to plant themselves into Ascian’s shoulder to cause injury, but instead to push him off balance, where further damage could be done by Derecho’s teeth in the pinto’s withers. His withers connected to his neck, shoulders and back, and Derecho prayed that if he’d managed to get the other’s flesh between his teeth, he could manage to cripple the other for some time by aiming for this critical point. It was a typical attack, but Derecho hoped that his added run-up and shove could provide a little more oomph that would make it unexpected and more brutal than usual. Derecho was going to have one last bite at the other, but his back protested at the odd angle on which he’d placed his neck, so the black was forced to let go. He kept his ears pinned and teeth bared, ready to attack again should the other go for another double attack. He wanted to toss his head and relieve the tightness in his neck and back, but didn’t dare expose his throat like that. Instead, he snorted several times and dug a hoof into the ground. Blood dripped off his hoof into the dirt – his wounds were unable to close over whilst he was still moving so much. Later, that would be a problem. In the meantime, adrenalin helped postpone the pain, and his anger reminded him it was worth it. |
